The most helpful item is the ability to change format of the sheet(s) without having to start all over.
The limit on importing data from Excel. Sometimes I have very large spreadsheets that I need to import
Collaboration between departments - this used to be difficult with sharing documents
I love to use it as a project management tool. I like the way it is user-friendly. It is helpful to keep everything in one place and control operating tasks. Keeping everyone on a project in check with one communication is essential. It is also great that Smartsheet integrates with OneNote.
Pages should be able to update in real time. IT would be helpful if Smartsheet offered a free in depth tutorial on the overall system. It would be great to get certified in SmartSheet as well but it has to be affordable if your company isn't willing to pay for it.
One of the keys to good project management is communication. Smartsheet allows for an easy, user-friendly way to communicate with key stakeholders. Use of Smartsheet has helped to set a standard of how everyone should organize their projects. Having multiple people utilize the tool allows for familiarity no matter which project manager you work with. It helps the users see the big picture and understand how their task(s) fit into the big picture.
Smartsheet allows me to make shareable documents that I can either leave as view only or provide other owners to edit the documents. It is especially beneficial now that most of my colleagues work from home, and sometimes we must work on necessary documentation simultaneously.
Although I recognize that Smartsheet is much different than Microsoft Excel, there are some perks from Excel I sometimes wish I could use on Smartsheet, but I do make it work nonetheless.
In my line of work, we keep track of all documentation used for a department. Smartsheet allows for smooth tracking of all our documentation.
Automation, dashboards, reports, access!
Limited formatting, some automation feat.
Too many to describe! Systems created: attendance, spot buy, APQP, production tracking, supplier assessments, employee evaluations, document control/distrib.
Easily able to create reports to monitor business
Cell limitations per sheet; Unable to have a RAND feature
We are able to schedule, create dynamic views, bill from information input into the system
tracking the dates and sending the notification automatically once it's set up properly
not be able to do the costing and hard to link one sheet to another sheet
tracking dates and project status
My favorite part about smartsheets is its user-friendly approach to writing functions. Essentially, you only type the keyword of what you are trying to achieve & the program begins automatically filling in the function code for you. I find this incredibly helpful as I've never learned Xcel or Google Sheets - So essentially, I'm learning to write critical cell functions fast and effortlessly.
A steep learning curve is involved, and the program is virtually impossible to learn on your own because you must set up most of the sheet and report parameters immediately. This makes going back and making major sheet adjustments a bit difficult. You HAVE to watch videos and tutorials before beginning.
Smartsheet is solving our day-to-day scheduling issues seamlessly. I'm spending much less time update and projecting schedules & my team is able to always have a task ready to work on.
It is easy to use and track changes, and share documents with staff.
Nothing. It is easy to use and maintain.
It is used to maintain the flow of new and pending projects
I like that we can use formulas to link our sheets together - to a main or multiple reports
Sometimes the workspace feature can be confusing. It would be nice to be able to format specific words in BOLD per cell as well instead of all of the text.
Smartsheet is constantly making new updates to make workflow more efficient.
In addition to Smartsheet being live and editable, the ability to add external web links and photos is my favorite feature. It promotes collaboration across several teams and houses valuable information in one central place.
The downside to Smarthseet is the inability to build multiple sheets within one file/sheet. Similar to excel, you can have numerous tabs on one file, I'd like to see that on Smartsheet as well.
It solves visibility by giving information access to teammates across the organization. Our team is more collaborative and informed as a result.
Smartsheet allows our business to efficiently collect information and track document status. We enjoy the automation workflows to meet deadlines and eliminate manual followups.
Access can be a limitation, but I am eager to get into the data connections to implement different views that could potentially resolve this issue.
Smartsheet allows us to automate document review and approval. Very user friendly and allows my business to be more productive.
Smartsheet is very easy to use and endlessly customizable. Our organization has adopted Smartsheet not only to manage products but also to create reports that are shared with our external team members.
Smartsheet collaborators experience a lot of access issues with their free account. We've had some users report that they started the free 30-day trial, and when the trial expired, they were no longer able to access their sheets and were removed as collaborators from existing sheets.
Our organization has worked in silos in the past, where the left hand didn't always know what the right hand was doing. This caused issues like a duplicate of efforts. The Smartsheet has been instrumental in helping us overcome this issue because there is now visibility. In turn, there is now also accountability, and our staff is engaged in owning and completing their assigned tasks to adhere to project deadlines.
Smartsheet is a nice option instead of MS Project and Google Sheets. Users can edit tasks assigned to them, alerts can be set up, and update requests can be sent.
Linking of sheets can be challenging. There are times when you need to create "helper" columns with formulas to complete some tasks.
Allow the same sheet to be used from ELT level to Team level by leveraging filters, Beta feedback reporting w/form, feature requests w/form.
Being able to share sheets with coworkers for easy review and editing
ways to easily schedule backups of sheets
Collaboration
I find Smartsheet easy to use for a variety of purposes. Because we can set up forms so quickly using their tool we can easily gather data in a pinch when other tools are too complicated. We also are using Smartsheet for project management of our internal graphics and production services which enables multiple team members to stay informed on progress of projects. We have used the system to display and track timelines for projects so that all stakeholders can see how far along a project is towards completion.
This may be user error, but I do have a hard time finding a form once it has been created within the system.
Keeping stakeholders informed so answering superfluous questions is not necessary. Also, by using the tool for our marketing calendar we can see overlap for messaging across products and therefore develop more effective communications to our members.
User Interface The platform's user-friendly interface makes it simple for me to set up projects and monitor progress. I also like the feature that alters the appearance and functionality of sheets and reports. Automation Features: Smartsheet's automation features, which let me set up automated alerts, reminders, and actions based on particular triggers, are among its most outstanding features. This may save my teams or me a ton of time and guarantee that nothing is overlooked. Real-time Updates: Team members can collaborate on the same sheet using Smartsheet. Any changes made are immediately visible to everyone, enabling real-time collaboration, feedback sharing, and quicker decision-making among team members. Comments and Discussion: User can comment on individual cells, full rows, or entire columns in Smartsheet, which is a terrific way to interact with team members and give feedback.
Formatting and Charts Smartsheet has a range of formatting options, but compared to other spreadsheet programs, users may find that they are fairly constrained. For instance, fewer options for advanced formatting , such as conditional formatting, may be available than in other spreadsheet programs. Eg. Combo Charts.
Smartsheet can help companies improve their project management and collaboration processes, reduce inefficiencies, and gain greater visibility into their data and workflows. It benefits our company by making prioritizing our projects easier and tracking our resources to meet our deadlines.
Simple and easy to use and navigate. user friendly. i also like the UX part of it
Missing some important features that MS project does have
It helps me in building project plans, especially since we do not own MS project license. Its also easy to share with customers
Live, bi-directional functionality. Dashboards to display KPIs, reports relevant to the dashboard's audience and compile resources, including files and links. In comparison, Excel and SharePoint do not support autonomous teams as well.
I've been able to leverage training and the community to work through all my obstacles except one. We have a particular use case where an accepted request then needs to populate some columns into a new sheet, and then certain cells in the new sheet need to be linked back to the "tracker" sheet where the requests live. We have been manually cell-linking to accomplish this, but because we do it for each accepted request, it would be great to find a way to automate it. I haven't identified a way to do this with information in the training modules or community, but I haven't yet submitted my question to the community, which will be my next step.
Problems: missed deliverable dates, missed invoicing/billables, missed customer experience opportunities, missed employee engagement opportunities, and missed updates to processes/standard work. By using Smartsheet we are increasing the efficacy of our communication, supporting autonomous completion of tasks/projects, and effectively delivering and billing for our work. The downstream impacts have materially benefited the customer experience and employee engagement.
Smartsheet saves me a ton of time collecting data from colleagues via forms, organizing data through reports, and sharing data with colleagues through dashboards and other published links. Our teams are dispersed, virtual teams that work across disciplines and institutions. Smartsheet keeps us connected in a way that MS Teams cannot.
The downside of Smartsheet is the implementation burden of getting busy colleagues to adapt how they work to use it optimally. I rely heavily on forms because people are used to web forms, but it isn't easy to get extended team members to use other novel features, like the Update Requests. People are so busy that introducing a new tool, even one that can save time and energy in the long run is a heavy lift because the initial investment to learn how to use it is too daunting.
Smartsheet has provided a platform to manage projects collaboratively, allowing the workload to be distributed between team members. Smartsheet has also allowed us to visualize our workflows for executive leadership to effectively communicate progress toward current objectives and capacity for future objectives.
Smartsheet is very user-friendly, easy to learn, and offers great tutorials! As soon as I started using Smartsheet I fell in love with how organized and efficient it makes my project management. I love the dashboards and the work insights.
I love all the Smartsheet features, especially now that my company is an enterprise user and gets all the cool features like dynamic view, data shuttle etc. I dislike that if you are a regular user, you don't get these features, or there is a cell linking limit. Also, I wish you didn't have to purchase the plan for multiple users, for example a small business might be the sole owner but still want all the features.
Smartsheet allows us to manage our projects with multiple stakeholders. I work in Quality Improvement, so I need to track over 500 stakeholders and engage them in surveys monthly. I love the ability of Smartsheet to allow me to engage with a big audience with surveys and then analyze their responses using the work insights or my own metrics sheet. I also use the Dashboards to measure and display their responses, which allows me to make quality improvement decisions and report to upper management in an organized way. We also use Smartsheet as a customer-facing "website" where they can interact with our dashboard to learn more.
