Hoosuite is great for multi-posts. schedule posts whilst away from the office
Hoosuite sign in alone is a massive pain in the back side even using google authenticator, just does not work together, on average it takes around 15 sign in to complete before you can get in to hootsuite, Total complete disaster.
Posting while at work.
It allows me to schedule my post ahead of time so that I can enjoy my vacation without worrying about posting.
It often becomes unsynced with various accounts. I get an accounts disconnected email every time I log in.
Posting ahead of time is super easy and convenient, and I'm also able to post from various accounts on one app on my smartphone.
I loved Hootsuite when it first debuted, it allowed me to see everything I needed in one concrete spot and provided basic analytics
At present time, we are no longer using hootsuite as it does not provide the detail in analytics I need, and to get the necessary detail, it charges a fee. Honestly with so many social media sources allowing prescheduling of posts and their own analytic system, we do not see the need to pay for this service on a tight budget
Initially it was for organization, but our social media has outgrown
The blog and additional resources are really helpful, particularly for someone new to social
It’s clunky and outdated. The UX is awkward and the product is really glitchy. Spent way too much time talking to customer service.
Scheduling and tracking social media
The dashboard is useful, as well as the ability to schedule social postings.
Interface is not intuitive, and therefore takes a while to fully understand what capabilities are.
I use it to schedule social posts, as well as track certain metrics.
I do like being able to schedule posts in advance on Twitter and Facebook. However, Facebook now lets you schedule posts in advance and be able to edit it anytime prior to the publishing date/time, which is WAY better because you can see it exactly as it's going to post and fix the images/links/description (aka using the debugger), which Hootsuite doesn't let you do.
I don't like using Owly. For one thing, it shows to everyone you're using Hootsuite which I think can make you come across as inauthentic to your audience, but also because for analytical purposes you can only track any click throughs that have been added from within Hootsuite. Also, not being able to tag in a tweet is a major turn off.
Being able to be on top of posts, scheduling in advance.
Very useful for scheduling things on Twitter, much easier than trying to tweet at the right time. Starting using it because I had free credits through a startup award.
Tweet tags don't show up soon enough, often have to type in the full twitter handle. Instagram does not have auto-posting which is very inconvenient. Facebook already has a better scheduling feature built into their page manager on their website.
It allows me to schedule things on Twitter which I was unable to do before.
I like that It is easy to schedule posts for all of my social platforms. I like that is shrinks my links for me and that it gives me a character count down for each of the platforms I've selected so that i know when I've reached their max. I like the ability to customize tabs and dashboards with streams.
I very much dislike that support is so difficult to get in touch with. You have to submit a form or tweet them.... and don't expect a response within 24 hours. Which means if they don't understand your question the first time you ask.... you're looking at several days before you get the help you need. My specific experience, I set up my account logging in through Facebook so it assigned an invalid email to my profile. It took about 3 days of sending a message and waiting for a response before Support was finally clear on my VERY simple ask "to update my account email from ___ to ___". Then instead of updating my current accounts information, he created a new account with my email ..... :( So there was more back and forth to follow to get that cleared up. I also don't like that certain streams and features are only available for twitter. For example, I love that I can set up a stream to see my new twitter followers, or any mentions on twitter. But I'd like to do that for my Facebook and LinnkedIn, especially since the accounts I manage are company accounts. I'm not sure if it's a restriction with the social platforms, or if Hootsuites has a special deal with twitter, but it's maddening. It's also not obvious that certain features are not available. You have to dig and search, and ask the help center, and dig some more before you come to the conclusion, that it's probably not possible. Another point of frustration is their "apps" for integrations. I tried to install their free app for Slack. It told me that I didn't have permission since I wasn't a slack admin and to send a message to one of the admins. That afternoon me and the admin followed the instructions to look for the Hootsuite app to install inside of slack.... and it did not exist. I'm guessing this is another one of those features that they don't make explicit is how to use it. So after wasting way too much time trying to figure it out.... we decided to use Zapier for integrations.
It saves me time on scheduling and managing my social posts.
One of the aspects I liked best about Hootsuite is that it showed comments, replies, and likes from our followers so that I did not have to keep track on each platform. That was very helpful!
On several occasions our Instagram posts failed to be published despite Hootsuite confirming it was posted. It became a hassle to always have to check on it.
We were using it for streamlining social media posts across platforms, but the benefits did not outweigh the troubles we were encountering so we went in a different direction.
It's affordable - support is fairly responsive - all of our clients know it.
Consistently disconnects - bad excuses when things break or go wrong - interface is busy - does not integrate well with ad component - reporting lacks everything but vanity metrics.
Consistently leaves us hanging when posts do not publish or accounts disconnect, with no warning or heads up. A lot of manually work to fix. But all of our clients know it - and its cheaper than other platforms to manage 200+ clients at once.
Seeing all of my accounts at one time has been a very helpful feature. It saves me time because I don't have to log in to each account individually.
Steep learning curve. I feel like the program needs to be more intuitive.
Social monitoring
I like the ability to post from several accounts at once
I don’t like that I can’t see analytics for when the best time to post media is.
I was able to post from multiple platforms at the same timw
When we first started using hootesuite it was a great tool to learn how to plan around scheduling on social media.
After using Hootsuite for about two years, we realized our needs outgrew their capabilities.
Social media planning. Event promotion on social media
It scheduled posts for some social media applications
Didn’t autopost to Instagram, rescheduling was not as easy as it should have been
Autopost social media and searching social feeds
The ease of use of the software makes it very attractive to any company with a digital presence. Also, it is the most affordable CMS I found.
It will not schedule posts on Instagram. This is truly annoying as this social media platform is a huge gateway to the younger generation.
I am scheduling social media posts to keep our followers up to date.
I like that you are able to easily add pretty much all of your social accounts to this and monitor a massive bulk load of them. I also like how you can get a nice look at what will be sent out on what day and what accounts will be posting that day.
One of the biggest problems I have with this account is that the social media accounts always get disconnected. There is not a week that goes by that I do not have to go in and upload one of my social accounts. I also hate that you are not able to post to instagram through here. I get that it is a API problem, but there are other social accounts out there that are able to post for you so I wish it could be a new update.
We manage a high level amount of social accounts from Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Instagram and more and it is incredibly hard to post it all manually or even schedule it to be posted on the social platform it's self.
Scheduling posts while away is a nice feature.
They wanted me to pay for each client's account -- this would not be cost effective for ,e
I wanted to save time using this platform.
What I like the most is the user interface and opportunity to schedule posts.
I'm not satisfied with recent restrictions concerning number of scheduled posts for users using free plan. Also I'd like to use more than 3 accounts in a free plan maybe with less scheduled posts available. I also used a trial period and I just don't get it, what I should pay for: a greater number of accounts and more scheduled posts? This is not what I'm going to do.
I use it for my working needs as a SMM manager
Manager tool for all major outlets and mediums
Muddled homepage makes for a poor visual
Community engagement- have been able to raise the following and growth with our channels
I like the ease of use in terms of being able to see multiple columns at once.
I dislike that I can’t search by hashtag.
I solved my issue of not being able to quickly reply because I wasn’t getting notifications, this helps me get almost an instant reply time.
I enjoy the social media scheduling component. We use Hootsuite primarily for Twitter scheduling.
I dislike that it's not possible to preview a post before scheduling. I also don't like there is no functionality with Instagram.
It allows us to schedule content so we're able to plan ahead for our clients.
I didnt like anything, , buffer is far better
layout is horrible, hard to keep track of mentions, I was unable to add our company facebook to the hoosuite so couldnt manage my accounts with the tool
Its only good to monitor twitter
Nothing amazing about it. Simple to use and is effective for small businesses.
limiting and confusing at times. there were some features i wish i could quickly access.
sending out mass emails and networking.
quick to post updates, easy to use, was fun as well
it was expensive, sometimes didn't post when i needed it to
convenient
This social media management tool has a lot of options- you can queue things for a variety of platforms, at a variety of times, in multiple languages and time zones.
However, the amount of options given is overwhelming and things can easily be messed up due to the high amount of customization. I think there are simpler platforms to do the same functions.
Since I work for a global company, we have marketing teams all over the world, so time zones and languages are things that vary greatly. This helps us to monitor and track all of our social media efforts.
I have always liked hootsuites user experience as far as a platform goes. It is helpful in monitoring engagement and listening.
Dashboard can get messy fast, I don't like scheduling things in hootsuite because it can hurt reach and it tags hootsuite (or used to).
Efficieny in monitoring engagement, for the most part
Hootsuite allows you to schedule out posts weeks in advanced, giving you the ability to handle all social content in large chunks rather than every single day.
Often times, posts would get stuck or not go out. It seemed rather buggy.
Time management in social media posting
Ability to monitor and post on multiple mediums on one tab, ability to have reports automatically emailed to you
The service is not reliable as the connections to the services would routinely get interrupted, the reports are not all that customizable and therefore not really all that helpful, they lock you into a contract and are a little bit shady about the terms (we were forced to continue using their services when we were ready to quit because the fine print of their contract specified that we needed to give them 60-days notice if we wanted to terminate our agreement, even though we had satisfied the agreement)
We were able to boost our Instagram follower numbers by watching who mentioned our brand but didn't tag our account. By liking their posts, they would see our account and usually followed us.
Multiple feeds were nice, but didn't allow for as many as I would've liked. The scheduling feature was easily the number one reason we began using Hootsuite. The "new followers" stream does come in handy when analyzing reach during specific times of year (for us as a college, it is application opening and new student move-in day).
There weren't enough feeds possible, especially on the mobile platform. We have several keyword searches to monitor, and there simply wasn't enough space to have the number we needed. One key feature of twitter that we have begun using is the polling feature. Hootsuite does not include this capability, thus we are better served by using Twitter's own online platform. The algorithm it uses does not place priority on recent tweets within the streams either. The main reason to use a stream is to see the activity on the stream, preferably with most recent at the top. In addition, each time a hashtag is retweeted, it reappears in the stream. There should be a way to look for this and not include a single tweet multiple times.
Managing multiple social media profiles was great and keeping track of a few keyword/hashtags was beneficial. That being said, the way of switching between them leaves something to be desired.
With this program, I like that I can access all of my social media platforms at once.
I feel limited for my clients and their businesses how I can use the platform and what functions I can do.
