Using Posthog as an alternative to Google Analytics for performance marketing. Completely in love with how customizable and insightful Posthog is.
I don't have a ton of negative feedback. The only downside was ocassional downtime with testing which is understandable given the company is growing.
Performance marketing attribution and optimization
I'm a developer and the implementation was pretty straightforward. The dashboard is clean, friendly, and easy to use
I dislike that there's no way to have different environments. The closest to that is creating projects for each environment, but the navigation between projects is not as easy as I would want because when you have a lot of projects you need to start searching for the one that you need. It would be nice to have a way of grouping projects by some tags or have a favorite section.
Understanding the user's behavior. We also use a lot the feature flags. The ability to create dashboards with important metrics and insights
Ease of doing everything , combined with suite of autogenerated and ready to use insights are what make posthog the best product for me
Honestly, cant find much, maybe more templates
Error debugging
I really like the ability to auto-capture the DOM views - and to get the tracking for users that are on our site. It's easy to know MAUs without any DB querying!
They recently turned oft the ability to self-host. This is a bit frustrating because we used to be able to directly query the data from their datastore. Now we have to export. It's not a big issue.
It's basically solving everything that we would get from FullStory, but it doesn't suck and it's cheap!
It's very intuitive, free for a very reasonable load, and super easy to navigate and set up. I use it for all my businesses and wouldn't recommend anything else.
Maybe adding in a tutorial would be helpful!
Which part of my funnel is making people fall through the cracks and easily optimizing them.
- Simple setup - User interaction UI is fantastic - Filtering interactions is straightforward - Option to self host
Self hosting instructions are lacking in requirements (how much storage, how powerful etc)
- Users reporting issues: we can see exactly what the user is referring to
pretty helpful and intuitive to watch recordings
better synethsis of problems and things to watch. not the best for novices.
learning more about the audience
Love the ease of implementation and the session recording capabilities.
Nothing really! The tool works very well and as intended.
Lets us very easily figure out what users are doing in the application and where there may be friction.
I like how simple this is to setup on a react app. It takes less than a minute to get setup and everything works out of the box!
The ui is pretty slow. I can't quickly go through recordings without it lagging and glitching out.
I'm able to see where users are dropping off on my websites and see where I can make improvements.
Toolbar that allows you to view pages and see: - heat map - visit counts - clicks I also love the recording feature, it allows me to better understand my users. A freakishy great free plan of 1000000 events, with my calculations, it should be free for most "simpler" site under 20-30k Monthly Active Users. Install takes about 2min - so quick and easy.
I had to think hard for this sections, my experience with this tool is somewhat limited, but so far for the price of free, seems like there is nothing to complain about. Some improvments to be made, there could be a plugin for wordpress to make it easier to install for those who are not tech savy. It is not a big issue for me though.
Free access to analitics that are more advneced and more GDPR friendly than big boss Google.
