"Rippling cares about dollars, not their clients."
What do you like best about Rippling?

Rippling is the most integrated software platform out there. If they didn't have the integrations with all of our other vendors, we wouldn't be with them. They also have a great IT service that auto-assigns and procures laptops to new hires.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Rippling has a major issue with taking ownership and responsibility for their shortcomings. If you are at an organization spanning across several states and will be managing taxes, BEWARE. Rippling creates their own deadlines to add state tax agency account numbers out of thin air, then will charge the client a fee if the account number is not input by their deadline, even if the delay is due to the state being backlogged (therefore, completely out of the client's control). They have a 60 day "grace period". For our organization, we had to work with a state tax agency that had a backlog for 3-5 months, therefore, Rippling charged us a fee. When we explained our circumstance, the response was "Rippling does not get involved with the registration of accounts and is not responsible for delays on the agency's end." Yet, they make their own clients responsible by charging them fees to eat on the state agency's behalf. It's egregious. Another example for how Rippling always blames the client... New I-9 requirements were published this year. Rippling was delayed by a few days getting their I-9 functionality for physical inspection out. The release was Friday. Less than 24 hours later on Saturday at 3:21AM, clients received four emails stating the following: "Back in June, we reached out to let you know about the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announcement that the remote document inspection exemption for completing Form I-9 was coming to an end. That exemption formally expired on July 31, 2023. It looks like you have not yet initiated the physical document inspection process in Rippling. With the due date of August 30, 2023 to complete physical document inspection rapidly approaching, we wanted to reach out with a reminder." There is always a "jab" at the client for not meeting an expectation, even when (especially in this case) it was entirely on Rippling to have caused the delayed release. All communications are similar in tone. The client is always to blame, and Rippling consistently never takes responsibility or accountability for their role leading to an action.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

The one area Rippling excels is integrations with various software vendors. It makes for a seamless employee experience only having to go to one platform for all of their HR systems.

"Exasperating from an employee perspective."
What do you like best about Rippling?

It's streamlined, everything is in one place.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

There is no support for employees. I can't talk directly to Rippling. It just routes back to our single HR rep for the startup. Their benefits plan is terrible and they don't understand any better than we do the difference between "PPO" and "POS" health plans. Moreover, their provider just went out of network with the monopolistic medical foundation in our state. They put out a lot of feel-good press about their funding when SVB went under. I view this as damage control. They're not a mature company and neither is mine for choosing them.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's our benefits admin. Our PEO. Unifying HR processes. We had an even more terrible PEO before.

"Used to be scalable and cost effective on admin time"
What do you like best about Rippling?

Used to be great at the transition from other payroll platforms, flexible and efficient benefits administration options, segmentation of payroll journal entries, lots of integrations and API, full integration of all HR functions in one scalable platform for a great employee and administrative experience. Also used to have great support and follow-up to resolve issues. The technology still all exists, but has become less reliable and issues are not resolved in a timely manner.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

I'm not sure what's changed in the last 6 months - but we've experienced: incorrect payroll filings and payments resulting in late fees and penalties and multiple follow-ups needed over months to resolve, their FSA partner made huge errors in rollover amounts and account balances and even processed expenses incorrectly and took several months to resolve and required multiple follow-ups. It's incredibly disappointing - Rippling technology still seems good, but if something goes wrong, unfortunately, their internal teams no longer seem to take ownership of resolving the issue. Rippling also allows you to process payroll without all state filings complete - which used to be another big 'pro' in their win column because sometimes state and municipal agencies have a lengthy process to register. They still allow you to do this - but if a filing is late due to not having the correct information, they will make one attempt to file without the complete information and if it fails, they can make another attempt for a $350 fee or you can file yourself. Their support has declined and additional fees are being added to complete what used to be a part of their basic service package. I will be holding off on recommending Rippling to any clients for the time being until there is a meaningful change in their support model and fewer critical errors in their systems.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Rippling's ease of use for both employees and administrators lowers the level of knowledge needed to maintain compliance, manage benefits, recruit, hire, and offboard employees. The fact that any broker can use their benefits admin platform makes them one of the most flexible and scalable options in the marketplace.

"Great Platform Bad Customer Service"
What do you like best about Rippling?

The Rippling platform although high capable has a lot of set backs. The idea is there and I think it has incredible potential but it still has many flaws. The HR 360 app that can integrate with the system is fantastic.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

There is NO actual place to call into if you have immediate issues that need to be solved. There is only email support and considering I am on the East Coast there is a huge lag in response time. There have been many errors in the system thus far that are never fixed immediately. Also, the cost of equipment they offer is higher than what I am able to get from other online or in store vendors, which really does not make much sense to me.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

I was supposed to have my time dealing with benefits and payroll reduced. It was meant to be more simplistic and streamlined. I find myself solving more issues within the system than I ever had to before. I had a similar amount of problems with ADP but they were always fixed immediately and there was always someone to call into fro my specific issues.

"They locked me out of my HSA with money still in it"
What do you like best about Rippling?

While my employer was still with Rippling it was an easy "all in one" dashboard experience. that is where the good part ends.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

First of all they gate keep their support through one designated admin contact per company and they cut you off COLD the second your contract ends. If you are a previously covered employee and have a question you can't even use a chat bot?! The phone number on the back of the benefits card is a black hole with a recording where you can't leave a message or speak to anyone. I expect bad support on average these days but this is NO SUPPORT whatsoever unless you are the designated admin contact on an ACTIVE account, the end. if you email support@rippling.com they send an auto reply telling you to go pound sand unless you are a current customer. When my employer left Rippling because it was too expensive to renew I got locked out of my HSA and they refused to help me. They control the login and the relationship to the actual account custodian even though they aren't technically holding the money. $3K just sitting there floating in the void because I cannot contact a single actual person to figure out how to get my account access back. that money is legally mine and it doesn't matter if my employer no longer uses Rippling! they do not care one bit. be warned: if you offboard it's like your data and your employees data falls off the face of the earth no matter the consequences to next years taxes, funds still owed, reimbursements still in progress, etc.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

They did manage to process payroll correctly, but somehow they prioritized picking a fun gif for the weekly payroll confirmation email over basic customer support

"It stinks"
What do you like best about Rippling?

Streamlined for the end user (Employers and employees)

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Absolute torture to do practically anything as a broker

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Rippling does nothing that isn't already being done by other systems. I will say in Rippling's defense that it may be useful for larger companies or for organizations that have a lot of equipment and licensse (Office, Slack, etc.). For the under 100 employees space it is insanely unwieldy and annoying to use.

"Poor customer service and missed filings"
What do you like best about Rippling?

On paper, rippling appears to offer many features

What do you dislike about Rippling?

It was incredibly difficult to receive customer support. Our account managers kept cycling out so whenever we'd email them, we'd get an email bounced notification without any information about whom to contact other than a generic support@ email address. Whenever we wanted to add or remove a package, we were always asked to schedule time with a representative (whose only job appeared to be to try to sell us something, not support us in anything else). Despite the hassle of moving payroll providers, we will be canceling them after a single year.

"So disappointing. Incompetent, passive-aggressive, smug, careless support."
What do you like best about Rippling?

It's generally a good, robust piece of software.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Their support is worse than useless. I've had an ongoing issue since October. Our Account manager gave us the wrong information about state registrations, and it literally cost us over $2,000. (We're bootstrapped. It's a huge blow.) I've communicated with at least 8 employees since then. No one cares, no one seems to know anything about our situation, let alone care enough to understand, but they make little passive-aggressive or smug remarks and it's so infuriating.

"Great potential, poor execution . Decided to just eat 6 mo+ of contract to get better support"
What do you like best about Rippling?

Great if you're a small team, but a nightmare if there is anything complicated. The year contract is not ideal either as it leaves no flexability for change. Everything is an add-on and support is essentially just an expensive web forum you better hope you're signing into every day.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

They do the bare minimum. If anything needs to be addressed, it's buried in a portal and message system. No follow up for important notifications. I'm still paying Rippling for my account as I couldn't break the contract, but the support I'm getting from a local payroll company is the same price but they actually will call you if you're a busy professional. Fine for a team of 5, but probably would just go with a service for the same price (maybe less) if you plan on growing. Even if it's more, I wouldn't count on Rippling to be anything more than a 'Google Workspace' for payroll with little to no interaction after the sales rep passes you on.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

An online solution for payroll, but it didn't benefit me after the first few months. Lots of missed notifications. I'm sure it would benefit a small team, but went sideways once I hit 8 employees.

"The Ripple effect: oversold and underdelivered"
What do you like best about Rippling?

when it works, it's fine - payroll runs, benefits work, etc.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

- Tech is terrible, it's almost impossible to find information and you need to update information in multiple places in order for changes to take effect. - Support is also terrible - I've gotten different answers from different people on standard labor law questions. I also often need to repeat my question multiple times (over email or in chat) since it doesn't seem support agents are given time to thoroughly read. Every time I try chat support, I'm transferred multiple times and each time they apologize for me being sent to the wrong place. - It just doesn't work like you expect it to - RIppling has random rules for payroll cadence, processing times, etc. that are not intuitive or normal.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Rippling doesn't do anything other payroll systems can do - the only benefit I see is that they can handle both US and international employees all in one platform.

"Doesn't live up to the promise"
What do you like best about Rippling?

Cheap and bundles many applications in a single place. Unfortunately, that place is terrible.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

The whole experience of using Rippling is profoundly disappointing, with poor UI/UX, bugs and terrible troubleshooting. Rpass (Rippling's alternative to Okta) is a horrific user experience and won't populate shared passwords in many applications. It's impossible to diagnose why the Rippling user agent does not install software. Opening support calls is complex (you have to persist in asking questions to the support form before their automated systems let you contact them) and the resulting support is poor (presumably reflecting the deficiencies of the product). If these failings were restricted to the HR team then these failings might be acceptable, but because everyone in the company will have to use this system you should think extremely carefully before choosing Rippling.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Improving efficiency in delivering HR and IT services by streamlining onboarding/offboarding, payroll, and PTO.

"Deceptive Platfrom"
What do you like best about Rippling?

Was pitched as an integrated platform for multiple fucntions.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

The onboarding specialist will get you onboarded right away and then you'll never hear from them again. If you have any issues you have to navigate through an endless maze of support documents. Many of the apps simply do not work. When contacting customer support they create a ticket and no one follows up. After multiple attempts of following up, your told that it's a known issue and there is no work around at this time. When you request a refund since the tools do not work, "they tell you a refund is not possible at this time." They also have amodel where they create seats and you know have to pay for those seats for the entire contract period. Regardless if the seat count goes down. This was not explained at the time I signed up for services. They allowed me to terminate services becuase they were not able to correct the issues, but then continue to charge my card the montly fees, claiming that services can only be terminiated at the end of the contract period.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

almost none. Its such a terrible platform I elected to terminate services after multiple attempts at getting to resolution.

"This company is actively deceiving its customers - cancel before its too late."
What do you like best about Rippling?

We had a terrible experience - the UX was fine but nothing special. They overcharge you for mundane things that you can do for a fraction of the price - don't be fooled.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

This company is misrepresenting the work they are doing for customers. I've received several notices of non-compliance and short-payments for payroll related items that Rippling was responsible for. I have sent several emails since June with no response and am looking into the right paths of escalation to get to a resolution, including legal action.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

They will solve your problems in theory - except they don't actually follow through with all of the compliance-related requirements associated with being a payroll adminstrator. Issues include payroll tax miscalculation as reported to federal and state agencies, misrepresenting the product during the sales process, and delivery of taxes late to federal agencies.

"Expensive, hard to contact"
What do you like best about Rippling?

The layout is convenient and the product has a great opportunity with many different functionalities in 1 product.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Since using Rippling I have had 3 different account managers, none of which respond to their email unless I want to add items to my subscription. The sales process was great but it went all downhill after that. What my BD rep didn't clearly tell that there is a general fee + a payroll fee for every user and the product ends up being very expensive. There are several errors in the software and I have had to manually process payroll twice in the last 3 months to make sure our employees get paid in time. For the last 2 months we have been overcharged by Rippling, I reached out to the company multiple times and had a meeting with my new account manager who would follow up after the call but never did. There is no way to contact the company other than the chat function or creating a ticket. Whenever I have a problem, especially with my payroll I want to be able to solve it immediately and call the help desk. In the end, way too expensive for the functionality of the product and a very poor customer service

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

I love the idea of having all these functionalities in 1 platform, if all of them worked effectively

"Implementation is a Nightmare"
What do you like best about Rippling?

User Interface and reporting are more user-friendly than ADP. Post-implementation support has been very helpful so far. A lot of useful integrations to other applications we use.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Implementation teams were non-responsive, especially their tax import and 401k imlementation teams. The worst part is we don't even know why they can't resolve the issues. Every week, they just promised that the issues will be resolved. It has been a few weeks and the issues are still open. They only support basic features and rules. For, example, we can't set our pay schedule based on business days.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Rippling is supposed to let users manage HRIS and other business applications' provisioning under a single roof. Once everything is set up, onboarding and people management processes will be more streamlined.

What do you like best about Rippling?

It's a great platform, but customer service is almost nonexistent.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

If we prepay an entire year and Rippling forgets to pay our payroll tax to our state and we cancel in May, some refund should be easy, but finding a real person is nearly impossible.

"Taking a financial loss to replace Rippling mid-year because it is so terrible"
What do you like best about Rippling?

I suppose it does a lot of different things. The problem is it doesn't really do anything particularly well. It's very integrated (meaning it offers core module, payroll, benefits admin, IT management, etc. all-in-one); however, none of these is done well.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

I don't have enough time to list out all of its flaws...mainly because so much of my time is spent trying to deal with Rippling's customer "support" or correct errors in our data that Rippling has created. But to name a few: 1. Customer service is really awful. Reps are almost never able to resolve even the most basic of issues. We've had numerous customer success and technical support managers since starting our working relationship and none of them lasts long, so the long-term "improvements" that we were promised over a year ago never come to fruition and we have to start over with new reps frequently. 2. They claim to be a global platform but they really have no comprehension of compliance needs in any location beyond the US. We can't even use the basic PTO tracking function because it is not set up to properly do absence management in countries that require unique accrual schedules, where PTO is tracked in days instead of hours, etc. This was made even worse after we created custom policies in each location to TRY to manage this as best that we could, and then Rippling went ahead and created their own "default" policies per geography with inaccurate accruals based on statutory minimums, etc. (instead of our more generous policies) and reassigned all of our employees, completely messing up their balances and requests. It took HOURS to sort out the disaster Rippling created. 3. They do not have separate and unique profiles for contractors and employees. So, if you have a contractor who you convert and hire, it looks like that employee's date of hire goes all the way back to when they started as a contractor. This makes proper benefits management a DISASTER because someone's eligibility window in the US has ended before they even were actually hired as an employee. Rippling continues to advise us that this isn't a problem and they don't intend to fix it. 4. They charge a fortune for API access so that we can essentially access our own data via API. 5. Non-compliant for global document retention. 6. Through what was admittedly our own error, someone's comp was changed with the wrong effective date. But through Rippling, it is not possible to administratively correct this. They claim it will create an "inaccurate legal record" if we fix the error. The problem is now someone's personnel record is....inaccurate. In the legal record. I have never seen an HRIS where you can't create a correction with notation. This is a huge flaw, and again, one that they refuse to correct. 7. Glitches and bugs ALL THE TIME. I cannot stress enough that this is NOT a platform that we would ever recommend. I have worked with many platforms in the past including BambooHR, Gusto, Kronos, Ultipro, Workday, and more. Truly any of these is leaps and bounds better than Rippling. Please, don't make the same mistake we did.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Rippling is honeslty only creating problems for us. We are abandoning our contract mid-year at great expense because the number of problems the platform has caused is an even greater cost.

What do you like best about Rippling?

There is not a lot to say here. The fundamental purpose of this software would be to simplify payroll and it failed.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Their service was impossible to work with, promising timelines they missed and making it impossible for my company to file their taxes on time.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

"Poor Customer Service."
What do you like best about Rippling?

The UI isn't bad but that is the only thing I like.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Their CX is exceptionally poor and retrieving my W2 is impossible. When I reach out to their support, they tell me they cannot reply to me because I am no longer using their service.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

None.

"Rippling does a lot of things, but it does them poorly!"
What do you like best about Rippling?

Rippling does lot of things but does it Poorly. While the platform may have some attractive features, such as integrated onboarding, benefits administration, and IT management, these offerings are undermined by significant drawbacks. Rippling may have ambitious goals, its inability to provide critical HR and payroll services effectively undermines its value proposition. If you're looking for a reliable and effective HR and payroll solution, you may want to consider other options that are better optimized to meet your needs

What do you dislike about Rippling?

There are several major cons with the service that cannot be overlooked. - First, the interface is incredibly laggy and slow to load, making it frustrating to use. The payroll service is also subpar compared to other major services, with frequent errors and delays in processing. - Furthermore, the customer service is notably poor, with long wait times for support and unresponsive representatives who are unable to solve even basic issues. Additionally, the account manager assigned to us changed every two weeks, making it difficult to build a working relationship with anyone. - The implementation process was also extremely disappointing. Despite being billed $10,000 for implementation, there was no actual implementation, leaving us with a system that was not fully set up for our needs. - Lastly, the time tracking system was also a major limitation, lacking several features that are essential for our business operations. Overall, the negative aspects of Rippling have significantly impacted our productivity and have left us searching for a better solution. I cannot recommend Rippling as a reliable and efficient HR and payroll service. In my opinion, Gusto and Justworks are much better alternatives to Rippling. We regretted switching from Justwork to Rippling.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Rippling didn't solve any problems but created some by the misleading salesperson and the poor performance od the implementation team. Overall, the negative aspects of Rippling have significantly impacted our productivity and have left us searching for a better solution.

"Glitchy and Delayed Customer Service"
What do you like best about Rippling?

The upside of Rippling is that the software has a clean look that appears as though it would be user-friendly.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

WORST DECISION!!! It seems like a scam. I wonder if they purposefully and erroneously deduct more money from their clients' accounts than they're supposed to and then hang on to it for fraudulent reasons for as long as it benefits them. Alternatively, perhaps they are honest yet simply highly incompetent. Ask yourself, when is it a good time to quit a service if they constantly owe you money from their screw-ups or glitches? We cannot regret signing up with Rippling any more than we do now. Paying for a 12-month membership was a huge mistake, and we are planning to quit and go to QB asap. Who knows, maybe they're going bankrupt or belly up like many tech co.s these days, and it's problematic to imagine being entangled in their downfall. The reality is that there's no customer service or walk-through from the beginning regarding setting up. However, "once your first payroll is deposited (wired to them)....you'll gain access to our support," said our only contact "rep," who responds to our questions by email at his convenience and when he's not on PTO. Other than one guy's email, there is no "setting up" chat support, no ph#, no tech dept, nothing until you've figured everything out on your own or through "help articles." The problems keep rippling out from one to the next. Our first payroll encountered an irreparable system glitch that listed our pay date as falling in the next YEAR. Make note that the first total payroll amount (net + taxes) must be wired to them before the auto-ACH works. So, yes, they had all of our money meant for payroll in hand while their system kept saying our staff would be paid the following year. We could not contact anyone at the company except our email guy, who was polite to his credit. Yet, even after a couple of days, all he could do was "raise a ticket" for higher-ups to take care of it. Not impressed! UPDATE: Not only was our first payroll plagued with a Rippling glitch that changed our pay date to the following YEAR, one they could never fix. We were instructed to stop the Rippling payroll and issue paychecks from our checking account using additional money we luckily had on hand. At the same time, we had to wait for them to refund our account the money we were required to wire them initially. But when the refund came, it did not include the withheld employment taxes. They said the taxes would be kept and sent to the appropriate authorities. A few days later, we noticed they erroneously deducted an additional (total) tax payment from our account without our consent. So, we've double-paid for our first payroll taxes, and the Rippling "team" has not resolved the matter after several days thus far, and here we are waiting again for them to send us our money owed back into our account. We've also discovered more problems, such as the minimum number of days between when payroll approval is due to when the money will be allocated to employee accounts is four. Looking at the pay schedule, most paydays are seven-eight days after the pay period ends. Quite the wait!

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

So far there has been no benefits as we would have done a better job using QuickBooks or on our own.

"The worst product - blood sucking sales tactic, unresponsive support. Just use Gusto or something"
What do you like best about Rippling?

Not much. They make payroll and taxes easier to manage but so can any of their competitors

What do you dislike about Rippling?

1. They take 1 week to respond to simple asks 2. Each seat is annual - although they charge monthly 3. Ofboarding is a pain and they force you t keep paying even with out using the service claiming that the contracts are annual 4. Confusing Ux

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

already said that above

"Disappointing"
What do you like best about Rippling?

The only benefit we've found is that the system is easy to use for on-boarding and off-boarding employees. All other functions are better handled by other providers.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Least helpful - lack of phone number or person to contact for immediate support. Payroll - Takes some configuring to setup and has very limited reporting functions. Our previous provider was much better. Selected Rippling partially becasue of it's integration with WorkFlow Max but it turns out the process to get them to interact was so complicated we gave up. Benefits - Thought using Rippling as our health broker would simplify the integration. Turns out it is a do-it-yourself system without any human input on the other side. Found out that our vision benefits did not take affect as they should have right before an employee had an appointment. Could not get a real person to resolve this issue for nearly two weeks. Have never interacted with our broker and don't even have contact info for a licensed broker. GSuite integration - Thought this would simplify creating email accounts, etc. When I integrated the services it automatically put me in the most expensive category that cost about 3x our previous cost. Once I realized this and changed our services, it takes 2 months to take affect since they bill 2 months in advance. It is nice to automatically create the account when on-boarding, but it doesn't have an option to delete the account when off-boarding so you still have to do it through google. Also, now that we get gsuite through google our IT person can't work with google directly, which is a huge pain.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

none
