"Poor Service & Sketchy Sales Reps"
What do you like best about Rippling?

I thought the platform was fairly robust and had a lot of customization.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Lied to by the Sales Rep and when I complained and wanted to cancel, we were referred to the same sales rep that lied to us. We have asked several times to cancel, but the sales rep is blocking us from moving forward with canceling. They also continue to hound my insurance reps that we added to our database as a supplier. They view every person/company that you add as a lead for them. We have complaints from our vendors that they are unhappy with us for moving to Rippling.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

They are solving none and we have moved to another platform.

"Rippling has destroyed our teams productivity and has been the worst decision we have ever made"
What do you like best about Rippling?

Rippling consistently fails to deliver on all fronts.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Software is antiquated and constantly malfunctioning, customer support is non-existent and non-responsive, sales team is pushy and has no understanding of the product, onboarding team is useless. Rippling has cost our business hundreds of thousands of dollars in wasted time and productivity due to malfunctioning software.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Rippling claimes to be a centralized HRIS and device management platform, however the HRIS solution is nothing but an assortment of broken integrations and the device management has been a disaster, including lost and locked devices that have prevented our team from being able to work at all.

"Avoid Rippling. Especially avoid RPass"
What do you like best about Rippling?

Rippling is fairly simple to use and easy to explain. It's modern in that respect.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Rippling is slow, and not very functional at all. It's too slow to load. Certain of it's "apps" like RPass for password management are absolutely terrible and the team hates to use them. The "watercooler" looks neat, but it's never going to fill a roll that teams or slack can fill much better. As a manager, the data I need to manage and plan the team just isn't there. This is not a serious system for a serious company. Support is not good.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

It centralized parts of onboarding.

"We use Rippling at work and I do not like it"
What do you like best about Rippling?

It's an innovative idea and good in theory.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

There's basically no support for employees. Employers have to middleman conversations. Their social media is not monitored (so that goes to show how much they care). I think what annoys me the most is after you select an insurance plan, you can't see what other plans the company offers unless you took a screenshot of that page.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

It makes HR headaches easier - or at least tries to.

"Not worth the automation"
What do you like best about Rippling?

The frictionless onboarding experience is great. It was easy to send devices, create and authenticate apps for new employees

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Everything else. The juice is certainly not worth the squeeze. If you use Rippling, DO NOT USE THEIR PEO SERVICES. Horrible and unknowledgeable PEO support. This is a high growth, VC backed business that runs payroll for the SMB space. They've built a great product but they're not ready and should not offer PEO services. The employees are not hired and trained to support businesses for PEOs. You're better off working with a standard PEO and there are plenty of other service providers out there that can send laptops with preloaded apps.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

easy onboarding for early stage but in reality that isn't really that hard and time-consuming

"The worst software onboarding experience ever."
What do you like best about Rippling?

Integrates with multiple systems. Eliminates manual process. But the integrations are constantly breaking.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

The onboarding experience was the worst I've ever experienced. Onboarding team forced me to manually collect information from my insurance carriers that they themselves could do as the insurance broker of record. Ended up wasting tens of hours going back and forth between my former broker, my insurance carrier, and Rippling due to what probably was an error on their part.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Streamlining IT and payroll. TBD whether we'll realize those benefits or not.

"While it is all about doing many things, and we pay for many, we ultimately only use it for payroll."
What do you like best about Rippling?

Support is very responsive on routine issues. Some other companies in this space are absolutely terrible when it comes to support response.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Rippling makes many promises and eludes to many things that don't end up being delivered. Examples: - At several points they indicated we'd be introduced to our account manager, during the sales process, after we signed, etc. However there are no assigned acount managers, its a 'pool', there's no way to be introduced to an account manager. They seem to know how things actually work and theres no way that how things actually work could be aligned with the concept of 'we'll introduce you to your account manager' - Charging the wrong amounts -- some amounts charged did not align with our contract and this took a major battle to fix, which eventually got fixed but I had to go around support to do it - Product is very unintuitive and most aspects of it feel unfinished. It 'looks' good, but is actually quite difficult to find what youre looking for and things do not seem fully thought out and complete. - As an IT person I find their single sign on and application management system very poorly designed, when setting it up the field labels are not clear enough, the documentation is poor. Support responses are unclear and poor. We paid for the app management but never implemented it and won't implement it. They pride themselves on this part of Rippling and are convinced its great but its subpar compared to dedicated offerings for this purpose. - Migration was extremely rough, they ended up using a data set from 10 months ago and did not tell us this, it resulted in incorrect pay rates and employee deductions that created a mess and embarrassment for us - Due to the fact they off App management, if you want to then use Okta you have to pay a large fee to Rippling to integrate with it which is quite unusual. - Based product functions such as security necessities like requiring 2FA or notifiying if a user does not have 2FA require setting up workflow automations in Rippling, these basic security necessities are not baked in, you have to use a 'recipe'. The reason they do this is so that you burn automation recipes and have to buy more, I think its completely lame to not have basic security necessities around 2FA built in without requiring workflows recipies that are complicated to a non-IT user. - Further related to the above, we signed up for pretty much the full package of everything when we purchased, I think received a pop-up suggesting I setup 2FA notifications, well I accepted it and created the workflow recipe to notify me if a user does not have 2FA and that burnt the 'one' workflow recipe that is built into my package, in order to get more I have to upgrade or purchase their new 'core' product. - They are taking on a lot of the bad behaviors that earned salesforce a poor reputation, yet at this point salesforce has actually stopped doing many of those things yet Rippling does them and justifies that SalesForce does them. - Too much pure revenue driven design, decision making, etc. - I think its actually a bad thing that its a sprawling suite trying to do payroll, HR and IT functions and then basically punishes you in some way due to their own failure of not making one of those aspects good and your needing to use something else - A product that just focuses on HR and Payroll will assume youre going to integrate with other things for everything else and not make that harder on you. - To do integrations that are now common such as slack notifications requires one purchase the App Management product, again this is lame another payroll/HR product would just integrate with slack and not force you to buy an application management per user SKU to simply do slack notifications. - I'm overall pretty frustrated with it and would not buy it if I had the decision again. - I strongly believe they have numerous fake reviews or are using a marketing firm or something. No software product would ever have 5/5 reviews, even iPhone or iTunes at its height probably couldn't have gotten 5/5, there's no way Rippling would legitimately get 5/5 reviews, I don't think thats really even possible for SaaS or computer software period. - I think they focus too much on new revenue producing features than really finishing the features they have - Documentation is poor and seems like a first draft, they are resistant to improving documentation when receiving feedback. - Supposed to be an everything place for all things people, however its really inept and limited in storing documents. It can't store links to OneDrive or Confluence content such as other SaaS applications can injest links to other cloud based content Rippling does not. It ends up not being used for storing HR forms and content. - I have an HR person with a science degree who is very detail oriented and technical and they will still basically not go through trying to use Rippling for things like sending out forms and such because they will say its such a project to setup that they stick with older methods.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

The primary value for us is payroll, the rest has not gone very well and we're using other systems.

"Basic payroll and benefits tool, bad support for users"
What do you like best about Rippling?

It is a good basic payroll and benefits tool (banking, PTO, company directory, and shared documents)

What do you dislike about Rippling?

1) Tax Withholding; I tried changing my tax exemption and filing status to get my withholding up, but there was no way to do this. I was underpaying and owed a lot at tax time. 2) FSA Claims: I have never had so many denied claims. I ended up not participating after dealing with a third party (Touchcare). They told me that the plan administrator had to help me with my denied claims. That was my boss. Seemed like a HIPAA violation to me. I ended up losing money over "unused claims" which were denied for reasons I was never able to figure out. The support was useless.

Nothing. Rippling is 3rd class software.

Everything, Please use something like Okta or Jamf for your MDM.

"Rippling Extemely Difficult to work with compared to big HRIS providers (i.e. ADP)"
What do you like best about Rippling?

I would have enjoyed their worklow and payroll integration with our 401K provider but Rippling customer service, or lack there of, trumps any benefits.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Customer service is non-existent. Sales team is available until you sign the contract then they disappear. Extemely disappointed

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Payroll and 401K integration but they just aren't enterprise savvy. customer service is horrible. We will be off as soon as humanely possible.

"Good idea, awful execution."
What do you like best about Rippling?

The technical concept and story for Rippling is innovative and desirable. The actual execution is too opaque and misleading.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Pricing is volatile and changes very frequently. Support is awful: no phone support, limited chat support, slow email support. Advice from Rippling support may be illegal in some states. For example, Rippling has advised multiple times that we reverse payments while adjusted payments are processed. But that violates California law on the timing of payments. If they could perform net adjustments, we would be fine, but reversing pay for a day or two is illegal as it would leave the employee unpaid according to the state. Rippling jumps into the role of 3rd party provider in several situations without providing clarity that they are taking a paid role. For example, they want to be your healthcare broker, your IDP license partner, 401k broker, etc. That's fine if they indicate their role. But RIppling omits any reference to their role as a paid participant. And those payments they make while providing no value have no bearing on the fees we already pay.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

The software is broadly capable for payroll, document collection, etc. But reporting is weak.

"Rippling will cost multiples more than advertised and waste your time"
What do you like best about Rippling?

The application and technology are very promissing. Their claims for integration are impressive.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

The company is run very poorly from a customer service perspective. Prompt support is rarely available, and advice is poor (sometimes recommending illegal actions). Every service involves an upcharge and some require turning the keys of systems over to Rippling (DON'T DO IT). When Rippling makes an error, the customer pays. When the customer makes an error, PENALTIES ARE HUGE.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

It started as a wonderful solution to systems integration from the point of hire. But all savings were lost when support costs started racking up.

"Payroll software is inaccurate (a major issue)"
What do you like best about Rippling?

The software is easy to use and intuitive. Their benefits offerings through their PEO are very much appreciated by our employees. Up until the payroll defects issues, we had been happy with the product.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

There are unacceptable errors with their payroll and benefits software that have ended up costing us time and money. The showstopper issue for us, which will cause us to look for a new PEO provider at our next renewal, is during open enrollment this year, while their instructions said that if an employee did nothing they would be automatically enrolled, it turns out they cancelled the employees coverage if they didn't respond to the open enrollment. This has created huge issues for us as our employees are now finding out when they go to the doctor or the dentist that they have no insurance coverage. This is just an unacceptable error from a PEO. Also, their holiday/vacation tracking software is defective. It caused us to have to add additional hours to an employees vacation balance in order to make for defects in their software. As you can probably see from this review, their software isn't ready for prime time.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Ideally, we would have had to worry less about benefits, HR, and other related items. We were hoping this solution would make us more productive. It turns out it is making us less productive because we are having to go back and fix issues caused by the Rippling software.

"An Unfinished Product pretending to be a solution"
What do you like best about Rippling?

Nothing. Rippling is very consistent on sales/selling; outstanding sales rep, but the implementation was awful - and you pay $5K for that. They sell you everything. It integrates to a lot of apps.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Access/permissions are clunky. You cannot hide fields you want not to be seen by all employees. Paystub presentation is strange. How can an employee have negative hours worked? Every move you make has a corresponding price. Strange title/identifiers for pay elements - like SDI Withholding Tax when referring to Workers Comp. Task / To-do lists not applicable No way to update data in bulk. Cannot view what the employee sees (no View as feature) A lot more...

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

We moved out of a PEO because of issues, but the problems became bigger with Rippling. So it looks like we went from bad to worse. No benefits were realized at all. It consumed time aside from money.

"Bad Stewardship and Immature Responses & Missed Tax Filings"
What do you like best about Rippling?

We were an early client of Rippling. We liked the promise of automated paperwork and quick payroll.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Rippling promised us that they were working to add people to improve human-to-human communication. Communication has gotten worse, in fact it's terrible. The have missed state payroll tax filing deadlines twice. When you reach out you can't talk to anyone and online responses take up to two-weeks. We pressed them to obtain answers at times and the feedback is, "we are growing very quickly but you are in queue. When dealing with taxes and payroll it's not a company you can trust.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Rippling has only created problems. We have had to move to another provider for a lot fo reasons. Dismal communication, delinquent tax filings from Rippling. The company is more interested in "scaling" than they are customer success.

"Worst customer service"
What do you like best about Rippling?

Good UI, though don't do a good job clarifying complex concepts (tax election, form submission, insurance), which results mistakes and fines that can be prevented.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Worst customer service ever! I have been reaching out to Rippling support for assistance with my December payroll for over 5 days, across every possible channel and received no response. For a start, Rippling doesn’t offer support on the platform - no chat, no email address, no in-mail messaging, phone number. Nothing. Only knowledge base with no option to communicate with someone at Rippling. I had to connect employees in LinkedIn to get the support email. The response time is over 5 days! and then you need to wait another 5 days if there is a follow up (that's always the case). It’s literally the worst customer service I ever had. If you are an SMB don’t use Rippling! There is no one there to help when you need it the most.

"Avoid Rippling. No support. One issue ripples into bigger ones."
What do you like best about Rippling?

I liked the idea of a platform that connected onboarding, IT, HR, benefits, into a seamless platform.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

There is virtually no support. It's been issue on top of issue. I'm a tech savvy person and have been blown away by the lack of response on issues. I've watched simple problems become big problems because connecting on Zoom for 10 minutes wasn't possible. Instead, we exchanged emails for weeks with no results. This cost us extra time and money compared to ADP (which wasn't great).

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

HR, tech, onboarding, benefits. When working correcty, it's fine. But any issue feels like a big issue due to their complete lack of response.

"Horrible customer support for half baked system. Too risky for any serious business to consider."
What do you like best about Rippling?

I liked the idea of what this system promissed to deliver. It's a good concept, just unpolished and very poorly supported. It's nice to have a system were payroll, time tracking, employee info, and onboarding/offboarding is handled, but it's an unfinished system.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Besides the obvious bugs from an unfinished product, the absolute worst thing is their customer support. Their business model is to have no phone support and to solve your issues through chat and tickets. The problem is chat is often not available even during normal business hours. Tickets that are submitted have no urgency level assigned so critical issues have no prompt resolution. 48 hours response is what I typically see for tickets. Promisses to escalate to management or other escalation are either not done or done slowly, negating it's value. When you use a system that is buggy, and has a bad UX design flaws, then there are going to be problems. With our past provider when the system had an issue we could call someone up and get it solved in a matter of minutes, preventing delays in pay checks or other time sensitive matters. Now we are on our own. By the time we get answers we've had to come up with work arounds. This system was supposed to take over medical benefits management. We pay an extra fee to retain our broker so we can have a person to talk to, and I'm glad we did as their system is a major headache to work. It's touted as easily connecting, but our straight forward blueshield plan required building from scratch as they didn't have all the options integrated and renwal has been comically confusing, requiring our broker to rebuild plan options and employees to redo work. For 14 years renewal took no effort and no paperwork, just a quick chat with the broker. With Rippling involved, now we have to jump through hoops as if it was the first time we were signing up for a plan during renewal with questions and document requests we've never had to provide and process flows that take us through unneeded steps for individuals who aren't even getting benefits. This startup should have recognized that they can't pass on all customer service to slow overseas ticket processing while they are still building their system. It's one thing to drop better, more costly support when you've scaled to the right size, but not now. If they offered a premium support option with 24 hour phone suport for extra money they could salvage this system for now, but they don't. Without good support for urgent tickets this system is not convienient and prone to causing major headaches. If you value your time at all, you'll avoid Rippling.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Trying to get multiple systems under one roof. The concept is good, but the implementation is bad.

What do you like best about Rippling?

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Customer support is abysmal, and they have ZERO care about the impact on your employees when issues do arise that need to be addressed. "Onboarding is a mess and system issues plague payroll."
What do you like best about Rippling?

The mobile app for employee payroll is ok (when payroll is actually correct).

What do you dislike about Rippling?

The onboarding is a mess. We felt like there were more important customers than us. There were also empty promises from sales that were not implemented properly. Support typically will just send you a link to an article instead of actually helping you. Even when it was Rippling that made a mistake. Their health insurance options are also a joke. Way too expensive for what you get and not very good companies. Overall, we're not happy with Rippling. They bring you in with automation promises, but the support is terrible. No phone number to call and constantly directed to links to try to solve problems on your own.

"Good Tools, but Hidden Charges"
What do you like best about Rippling?

It was easy to set up, and it is really easy to hire/offboard employees

What do you dislike about Rippling?

The software automatically adds seats when new employees are hired, but Rippling doesn't allow customers to decrease the seat count when employees are offboarded. They automatically increased our seat count when we hired several temporary employees, but they required us to pay for up to 200% of our headcount for seven months after they were offboarded. They quote the pricing based on your "headcount", but they don't tell you that the pricing isn't based on your actual headcount. They have the ability to decrease headcount automatically but choose to overcharge their customers instead automatically.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use Rippling for several HR functions and IT App provisioning. RPass and the App Provisioning are very helpful to rapidly onboard/offboard employees. Payroll processing can get buggy. We ran into several issues over the course of the year.

"Highly encourage startups to consider alternatives"
What do you like best about Rippling?

I like the concept of RPass (the single sign on feature). It was one of main reasons we went with Rippling over Gusto, but it's buggy and confusing.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

The moment we signed the contract our salesperson completely disappeared and left us hanging and we had to fend for ourselves and figure out their incredibly complicated UX. You can't actually contact support until you finish onboarding, yet we couldn't finish onboarding because we needed support - Catch 22 and an inane policy. We missed payroll twice and even after we finished onboarding, every time there's a payroll issue. EVERY TIME. Our new hires are confused by the onboarding and end up emailing me, which defeats the purpose of using a system like Rippling. I highly HIGHLY encourage anyone who doesn't enjoy going completely mad dealing with a poorly designed, confusing site with abominable customer service to choose another service. I've used Gusto as an employee before and it was great.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Rippling has caused more problems than it has solved. The Application Tracking System which we purchased is very cheap and that's because it's not good and also not even made by Rippling. It's a third party software called "Hiring Things" and we were never told this before purchasing it. Thought that was pretty deceptive.

"If you want customer service look elsewhere"
What do you like best about Rippling?

Streamlining of features in one platform

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Customer support is horrible (there is no phone option), and the accounting integration is very problematic. I've generated over $800 in accounting fees managing the journal entries from Rippling so far.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Streamlining offerings

"Terrible Company"
What do you like best about Rippling?

Aesthetically pleasing, onboarding is easy

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Basically everything. Payroll- they cannot handle importing hours from multiple locations that have common employees. It enters total employee hours to both entities and you have to audit. They don't have reliable customer service whatsoever- you have to contact via email. They are often lazy in their service and don't respond in a timely manner. I had a quarterly tax return issue that took them two months to answer. I had another issue with the ESD that someone "forgot" to take care of and then responded to months later (after I handled it myself already). The Q4 returns they filed for us all came back with late fees from government agencies, when I contacted Rippling about this they not only took too long to reply but they blamed it on the agency. This is an extra headache that I don't need. I could spend an hour explaining why I would never recommend this company. The only time I can see Rippling being OK is if you have one entity/location and only run one payroll at a time.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Rippling created extra problems. Even in the cancellation process, they are not easy to work with.

"Can not trust payroll"
What do you like best about Rippling?

The interface is clean and easy to navigate.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

I am now three months in and each payroll run I find new problems cropping up. Never the same one. This means each payroll run I end up spending the majority of my Saturday morning checking and auditing payroll because I can not trust what Rippling does and let it just run. Examples of problems: All company 401k contributions were zeroed out. 10 employees 401k Employee contribution zeroed out. New employees set to contribute to 401k even though not eligible. New employees pay rate not set correctly because it was a custom pay type. Salary employees PTO pay not shown as a separate line like hourly PTO pay. PTO accrual hours not shown on pay stub previews. Support is pretty much through email, they ask annoying questions to delay answering and then in the end pretend that my problem is really just a feature request. I am not about 3 weeks into bothering my account rep to give me estimated completion dates for my 'feature requests' and she keeps avoiding answering the question and has not called me despite multiple requests as well. It is so much work to convert HR systems and I dread doing it all over again but I have to get to a point where I can trust the payroll to run correctly and I do not think I am going to get there with Rippling.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Moved away from spreadsheets and to a more complete HR system.

"Good concept with poor execution"
What do you like best about Rippling?

It is a one stop shop for managing US employees. When it works, it is easy to manage employees onboarding and offboarding.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

There are a lot of bugs and many times you have to contact support for them to fix issues (which they try to do quite quickly). It doesnt fully do what is says it does and what is communicated on their website or in sales doesnt materialise in the product. I would advise potential buyers to lengthen the sales process and really evaluate in depth if it works for your organization. The ATS is more like an app at Beta stage and for any professional company it is not of sufficient standard to use.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

One stop shop for employee management but it only works in the US. No benefits realized yet.

"Incompetence at best, fraud at worst"
What do you like best about Rippling?

Clean user interface for mobile and web views, especially for HR/B2B software.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Rippling is a frustrating and disappointing suite of software for the staff-user to say the least. I've had 8 different issues with Rippling administering the HSA/FSA in the last 365 days. 1) Rippling allowed me to sign up for both HSA and FSA for 2020 open enrollment and then told me I was fresh out of luck and had to eat the $2k that was withheld for the HSA even though I was not in a high deductible plan. Until our HR admin and I fought them repeatedly for 2 months in early 2020 and finally got them to 'make an exception' from their error and give me my money back. 2) Throughout 2020 each time I submitted an invoice for reimbursement of Dr. visits when I didn't have my HSA credit card handy (about 6 times), they would reject the request for reimbursement EVERY time stating the documentation was blurry/invalid (even though it was a PDF invoice, system generated, not a screenshot or photo). The HR admin and I then had to push back on them and their support team each time, fighting to get my own money back that I was entitled to. 3) Now at the end of 2020 (12/26/20202) they showed in the Rippling portal I had the $2k of available balance and would lose the monies unless spent by end of 2020. So I went on a HSA-qualifying spending spree so I didn't lose the money. They then rejected those claims saying bugs in their system incorrectly showed I had a balance I did not. This has ended up being about a $1200 mistake. I asked them to reimburse me the money themselves at was a bug in their own system that caused the error, but they told me to pound sand. Messing up a few times is normal, every software has bugs and mistakes, and people are human. But the repeated mistakes with real money on the line, to me demonstrates gross incompetence at best and fraud at worst. Do better.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our company uses Rippling to administer computer security policies, payroll, time off and HSA/FSA administration.

"Not ready for Prime Time"
What do you like best about Rippling?

They are responsive to issues. They're forward thinking.

What do you dislike about Rippling?

Way too many bugs. The system is not ready for mainstream use. Very quirky and limited in options within features.

What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?

Payroll with integration with 3rd party time tracking system (TSheets). Automated employee on-boarding. Tried using their Benefit Administration function, but it was not able to present options for insurance properly after several months of working with them to de-bug.
