Slack Reviews: 4.5/5 — Highly Rated
Slack is the top choice for teams to communicate. It provides a virtual workspace that helps teams maintain open communication in a business environment. With Slack, users can host voice and video calls with up to 15 participants and even screen share with a desktop app, empowering better user interaction. Slack also supports options for private and group sessions, and one of its best features is Slack Huddles–an informal meeting space that lets you directly talk to your channel where you can share screen side by side with your team. The platform integrates well with Dropbox, Google Drive, and Trello as well.

Shortcuts are not very easy to recall or us
Ability to quickly communicate better by quickly setting up voice or video call from slack, instead of relying on external video communication applications.
features such as channels for different projects or topics, direct messaging, file sharing, and integrations with other tools
Uploading issue from phone. Sometimes failed to update
features such as file sharing, voice and video calls, screen sharing, and integrations with productivity tools
Slack is a very robust and easy-to-use instant message application that one can have in the Workplace. The UI experience is awesome, takes little to no time to know to use it.
There is nothing that I dislike about slack when it comes to UI/UX experience and have seen a lot of new useful features getting added to it. If the developers can make it use less power consumption on Macbooks running on MacOS 13 would be a great bonus.
Slack makes it very easy to reach out to anyone within the Organisation, and share content with each other. It also works as a backup storage area to jot down notes and store files.
Easy to use, friendly user interface, works well on both desktop and mobile. Much easier to use than Teams on mobile devices.
Screen Sharing option on Huddle needs some improvements compared to Zoom/Teams
Provides us with a good communication tool for remote working.
I really appreciate the amount of integrations Slack has. You can share gifs and emojis in the workplace while efficiently getting work done in a relaxed environment. I appreciate being able to message myself as a note-keeping service, save for later, remind myself of messages, and work out priorities.
I don't quite understand all of the sharing and permissions around slack. I am professional on the platform as all should be, but there are some gray areas that make me wary.
We are a fully remote company, and slack enables us to work efficiently as possible from all areas of the United States. We also do not utilize phones so slack enables work on the go as well as from home for any emergency and time of day.
Slack allows me to keep in contact with my team, even on the go through my phone. Since I telecommute, this is sometimes vital, especially when we're up against a hard deadline.
It has sometimes shut down unexpectedly. This can be expected from any program, but it has often appeared totally functional, and I only found out it was bugging out when contacted by my team via email.
Slack has served as an effective communications hub for my company for years. We were reluctant to get to know the software after we merged with another company, but I'm glad I let go of that reluctance.
Slack has so many app integrations already built into it, and it's very simple to use. I began using Slack in my current role 3 years ago and was impressed by its ease and user-friendly nature. When training employees on it, they adapt and learn to use it very quickly.
I don't have much if any, negative feedback for Slack. The only thing I'd like to see the ability to do is when using a workflow or a post, having the ability to post an image within it. That would be helpful for the type of work we do.
Slack is our primary source of communication. We rarely use email internally because of all the benefits Slack offers. My direct team is quick to respond and enjoys using gifs and emojis.
Slack helps our remote first company communicate on a daily basis, as we are scattered across the world. Huddles have been extremely useful in quickly jumping in and out of discussions, and the ability to spin up new channels for various reasons is very handy.
Sometimes it can be a bit buggy where sections like "Threads" don't change to unread even though all messages in there have been read. It would be nice if that was addressed in some way.
Slack allows our company to stay very closely in touch on a day-to-day (minute-to-minute) basis. It is the app I use most at work and allows me to stay informed on everything that is going on at our large company.
- Visibility across teams (or to people who have subscribed to a channel) - Reduces the need for some meetings since some actions or discussions and happen asynchronously - Reply to a thread is a great feature to start a discussion on a specific topic without spamming the entire group - Integration with monitoring and cloud providers to receive notifications on alerts is excellent. Reduces the need to navigate to different providers if notification messages are configured correctly - Mobile app is excellant - 2FA with Google Authenticator is reliable - Slack allows me to receive notifications on all devices linked to my Slack account, which helps me receive notifications on my phone and also on a computer. - Can easily share screenshots and images by dropping file into a channel - Administrative features are easy to use and control
- Might get noisy if subscribed to too many channels - Call screen sharing feature could be improved - Slack conversations sometimes get out of control and there is no way to regulate this, there is no configuration that controls the amount of messages or the general volume of messages that can be in a channel. - Follow up messages in a thread sometimes gets ignored due to the nature of thread notifications
- Reduction in meeting times - Visibility into a discussion on projects when a person is not directly involved - Easy to collaborate without a meeting when urgent production issues needs to be addressed
the integrations with other platforms, for example Monday.
The video call function still has some room for improvement.
Quick and organized messaging, without being introusive during personal time.
With Slack, I am able to send large files online, send & receive DMS and manage projects via PPM tools integration.
I have nothing that I encounter as a flaw on my end.
Business instant messaging. ChatPulse integration makes it easy to collaborate via comms channels.
Slack has a very clean and attractive UI that is easy to use. It makes scheduling messages a terrific experience. I also love that the audio and video quality are high during video calls and performs without glitches.
Nothing. Slack has been immense in that it fulfilled and delivers as per my requirements. It has never disappointed me.
Slack comes in handy during virtual meetings that are held in our organization. It is also a channel of communication I use to communicate with teammates via the messaging feature.
Instant communication and all the features available.
Pricing if you need the premium features foryour team.
Easy to use, instant communication with colleagues and clients. Useful for improving productivity.
Best internal communication app I have used so far in my career. their UI is very user-friendly and the integration they have with other apps is next level.
none that i can think of it as they are continually improving the features.
Messaging internal employees made it so easy and the huddle features that I use every day make my work way easier.
Slack is an excellent tool for communication, especially with companies that have outsourced teams overseas. It gives so many features to utilize in communication.
A lot of the features would require certain levels of roles. If registered as a Guest, you're limited to simple communication tools but higher-level positions can access more fun and exciting features.
Quick communication. Status of the person you're reaching out to. You instantly know if they're available to talk to or if they're in a meeting or out of office. It even connects to one's calendar to auto-update the status.
Slack has transformed how teams communicate, collaborate, and stay connected in the digital workplace. With its powerful features, intuitive interface, and extensive integrations, Slack has become an indispensable tool for businesses of all sizes. Here's why it stands out as a game-changer in team communication: One of the biggest strengths of Slack is its real-time messaging capabilities. The platform offers instant messaging, allowing teams to communicate seamlessly, share information, and discuss ideas in real-time. Whether it's one-on-one conversations or group discussions, Slack's chat functionality provides a dynamic and efficient means of communication.
Learning Curve: Slack's extensive features and capabilities can have a learning curve, particularly for new users. Navigating channels, understanding message threads, and mastering integrations may require time and effort. Potential for Information Overload: Slack's fast-paced chat environment, while efficient, can sometimes lead to information overload. The constant influx of messages and notifications may become overwhelming for some users, requiring careful management of channels and reports. File Management Limitations: Slack offers essential file-sharing and collaboration features but may not be the most comprehensive solution for managing and organizing files and documents. Users requiring advanced file management capabilities may rely on integrated tools or document management systems.
Real-Time Communication: Slack allows for instant messaging, facilitating quick and seamless communication between team members. Conversations happen in real-time, enabling faster decision-making and problem-solving. Channel Organization: Slack's channel-based organization system allows for streamlined communication and collaboration. Teams can create channels for specific projects, topics, or departments, making it easy to find and reference discussions later. Extensive Integrations: Slack integrates with numerous third-party tools and services, including project management tools, file-sharing platforms, video conferencing software, and more. This integration capability enhances productivity by centralizing workflows and reducing the need to switch between multiple applications.
easy to use platform for seamless communications
sometimes having too much noisy unnecessary notificatoions
easy and effective communication, helping in teams collaboration
- UX is intuitive and provides great customisation like Themes - Allows to share images videos, text etc. which makes easy for different teams to connect together. - Provides huddle feature which is great for communicating with other member - Provides a huge number of integrations with other tools like GDrive, Jira, Github, Trello which makes it easy to connect to Slack - Ability to create polls among the channel is a great plus!
- High cost when going with paid plan - Free plan allows to view only last 90 days data which is not that helpful to me - Takes around 1 GB of RAM in MacOS
- Messaging other members in the team - Communicating with team - Sharing daily scrum - Getting notified on only important things as we can mute a channel or person that is of less importance.
You can do voice and video calls. You can share your screen with other peers and colleagues. You can share any documents with other people within the organization.
Needs a better internet bandwidth to stay connected. Sometimes there are outages in the services. The UI could have been better. There are many channels which are required to be created.
Guess slack is working on the application to stay connected even though the internet bandwidth is low.
Certainly offers a complete experience of communicating with people within the organization
I totally have nothing to state as a dislike I really enjoy using slack
It helps alot by letting users communicate easier with their fellow colleagues
One of the best things about Slack in our customer care operations is its real-time communication capabilities. With Slack, we can communicate instantly with our team members, ensuring quick response times and efficient collaboration. We can address customer inquiries, share information, and provide timely support, all within the same platform. The channel-based organization in Slack is also highly beneficial for our customer care team. We can create dedicated channels for different topics, projects, or customer groups. This structure helps us keep conversations organized and easily searchable, making it effortless to find relevant information and historical context when assisting customers. Another aspect we appreciate is Slack's integration capabilities. We can seamlessly connect Slack with our customer support tools, such as our ticketing system or CRM platform. This integration streamlines our workflow by consolidating relevant customer information and notifications into Slack, ensuring that our team has the necessary context to deliver personalized and efficient support. Slack's search functionality is a significant advantage for our customer care team. We can quickly search for past conversations, shared files, or specific keywords, enabling us to find relevant information and resolve customer issues promptly. Additionally, Slack's archive feature allows us to retain important conversations and reference them later if needed. The flexibility and customization options of Slack are also valuable to us. We can personalize our workspace, choose notification settings, and integrate various third-party apps and bots. This customization enables us to tailor Slack to our specific customer care processes and leverage additional tools or automation that enhance our productivity and efficiency. Lastly, the availability of Slack's mobile app is crucial for our team. It allows us to stay connected and provide support even when we are away from our desks or working remotely. This mobility ensures that we can assist customers promptly, regardless of our location. Overall, Slack's real-time communication, channel organization, integration capabilities, search functionality, customization options, and mobile accessibility make it a valuable tool for our customer care operations, facilitating effective collaboration and efficient support delivery.
While Slack offers numerous benefits for our customer care operations, there are a few aspects that some users, including myself, have found to be potential drawbacks. These points are based on personal experiences and preferences, so they may vary for different individuals or teams. Here are a few things to consider: Notification Overload: Slack's real-time nature means that notifications can be frequent and sometimes overwhelming, especially in busy customer care channels. It's important to manage notification settings effectively to avoid distractions and maintain focus. Learning Curve for New Users: Slack's interface and functionality may have a learning curve for individuals who are new to the platform. It can take some time for new team members to familiarize themselves with its features and understand how to navigate and use it effectively. Dependency on Connectivity: Since Slack is a cloud-based platform, it requires a stable internet connection for real-time communication and collaboration. In cases of poor or unreliable internet connectivity, it may disrupt communication and hinder immediate responses to customer inquiries. Pricing Structure: Slack offers various pricing plans, and depending on the needs of your team or organization, the cost may be a consideration. Some businesses, especially smaller ones, may find that the pricing for certain features or user tiers is not within their budget. Distraction and Time Management: Slack's chat-based interface can lead to distractions if not managed effectively. It's important to establish guidelines and best practices to ensure that team members can balance their availability for customer support while also focusing on their core responsibilities. It's important to note that these points are not universal drawbacks and can be managed effectively with proper usage and team practices. Despite these potential limitations, Slack remains a powerful tool for our customer care operations, providing valuable collaboration and communication capabilities.
In summary, Slack solves the challenges of fragmented communication, enables efficient collaboration, integrates with essential tools, provides powerful search capabilities, and offers mobile accessibility. These benefits ultimately help us deliver exceptional customer care, ensuring faster response times, effective teamwork, and improved customer satisfaction
Integration of slack with major integration tools and products including teams
Login takes more time than usual in slack
Communication and notifications within the organization
I like the huddle and status feature of slack
I don't see any bugs yet! Which is extremely shocking for me as well
During covid times we were able to stay connected with our teammates. And it was quicy, easy and also has lots of options like status, profile, emojis, access to several apps such as Google Calendar, etc.
quick answer and better integration with monday
Most of the good things in Slack are paid
A quick response from the team
Slack is one of the best channels when sending any updates or communication within and outside the company.
There may be some instances where Slack has latency but is tolerable where messages are not available to be viewed.
Slack is an effective way of sending communication within the team, and this helps resolve issues in real-time.
Very good optimization. Useful features to organize your day and correspond with colleagues.
In my company, I had to log in to Slack every time I begin my shift which was taking too much time.
It is making internal communication easier and faster. All the present emoticons were really awesome and are helping to set the tone of the conversation.
This can be integrated with various other tools like G-Drive, Calender etc.
It doesn't show whether the second person has read the message or not.
I can easily connect with anyone on zoom using shortcuts on slack rather than opening the zoom itself, and it reminds me of the upcoming meetings as well.
I like the most that you cna create public and private channels where you cna talk and discuss about anything that you would want to. The communication factor is the key in such groups and helpful to teams
I wish there would be screen share and they would make a way to scheudle meetings as well. The huddle feature could be improved and made like a valid competitor to zoom and Google meet. I do believe there is potential in it.
Communication within the team and communication in topics which are not business related but help to keep the organisation moving and happy in their own domains. Talking about work and non-work related items on separate channels.
The app is really simple and easy to use and connect with colleagues and share important stuff.
Slack is not safe and everyone has access to its messages
It helps us connect with a wide range of business officials and simplifies the conversations
