Slack makes internal communication frictionless compared to sending emails due to being able to target individuals, groups, or channels, as well as selectively mention individual users or groups. Going through Slack notifications is much faster than the email inbox due to less boilerplate text and better structure of threads.

Slack does not remove the fact that communications are inherently messy, and thus even Slack use can become overwhelming. The biggest downside to Slack use is that people might start expecting faster replies than they would for email, but of course, this is organization-specific.

Slack helps enable internal communications (and in some cases, also communications with vendors, partners, and customers) in the hybrid/remote work era. It reduces the friction of communication.

really not much to dislike. Integrations need an admin but that is corporate security so I can't blame Slack for that

There is something I don't like about slack is syncronization of notifications on all devices where user is logged in. Slack can be shared with cost. It's not free for creating groups and conversations

I like that slack has multiple communication functions.

It cannot change the tone of notifications. Or the fact that you cannot assign different notification sounds to different conversations.

Not so much about solving problems, but a benefit of working on the slack platform is that it helps cut down on email traffic.

Easy to integrate with other tools like Trello. What I more than like about it is the custom commands that slack has.

It has minimum file storage. The history search is limited to only 10000 latest entries.

My favorite tool is the the different channels you can be a part of. It has made communication with colleagues so easy. Before I became a contractor, I never used it but it's now my favorite tool!

I haven't found anything I dislike about slack. There are a lot of integrations available.

I'm able to QUICKLY create new team messages, send a message privately, or if I need to make something widely known, a channel with everyone who is involved is the most useful. I also love integrations and how easy it makes my life.

Slack has become my go-to for communicating with my project team. In addition to primary messaging, the huddle tool is great - it has cut down on the need to use my cell phone for calls. Also, pinning documents and URLs to channels ensures that everyone can find key artifacts promptly.

The search is too broad and returns too many irrelevant matches; there should be additional filtering or search criteria to minimize the amount of time it takes to find something across channels.

Real-time collaboration and information sharing; We can stay in contact on the go and keep up to date on projects and tasks in flight. Out productivity and performance have significantly improved.

I like that slack has different groupchats for different uses and that I can receive notification for any message that have been sent to me by others. Also, I like how photos and gifs can be shared on slack.

Nothing. It's a great way to communicate and it's the only app, I've used while working at DoorDash. Slack has no issues when it comes to communicating with co-workers.

I'm able to retrieve information of questions I may have that can be similar to what people have asked and I like how the conversations can be saved and viewed by others and myself.

I love that I can view all of my "workplaces" in one app and easily switch between them. The Emojis are the most fun aspect and the fact that you can upload your custom emojis.

Doing something as simple as a poll is a little difficult, but you can find creative work-arounds. It's also difficult to find the right gifs

Slack allows you to access everyone else in the workspace. Some of my workspaces are networking groups and it gives you an easy way to meet new people and start conversations.

Its a very useful and friendly user software. It definitely meets its purpose which is being a communication software. Really like the fact that you can add Gifs fropm the Giphy website and even view documents, such as PDF files, without having to download the file first. Notifications pop up, you can silence them and change your status. I really love that you can mark someone's screen whenever they are sharing it.

What I can think of is that you can't customize the time a status icon lasts. I have the option to change status to "in a meeting" and it lasts an hour, eventhough I have meetings that last less than that it only gives the option of an hour.

It has been really helpful to communicate during this home office time. Especially the calls and screen sharing feature, it is very helpful because you can mark/point places you need the person to look, almost as if you were there sitting next to that person.

This tool makes it easy to communicate with peers both individually as well as in groups. It is really easy to configure different groups or channels to communicate with peers working on the same project. In a professional setting, this is my most preferred tool for communication.

One issue that is cumbersome is that you are not able to add new members to a group chat once it has already been created. If down the road, if you decide another member needs to be included, you'll need to re-create a new group with the new user added.

The main use case for Slack is communication with peers at my full-time job. I communicate with peers individually as well as in a group or channel setting. This tool has made the shift to remote work a lot easier for me.

It's a powerful messaging tool with great features: it allows to share files and boards from the best cloud service tools for time/project management and file editing.

It's not straightforward to learn: you first need to signup to Slack, then follow several other steps to join the channels you need. I had some difficulties understanding how it works at first and needed help from other channel members.

It's the most complete professional messaging solution I've been using so far, even if I had some difficulties initially (but I sorted them out, as I said before). The search feature is outstanding, and it makes it easy to retrieve stuff from older messages in the conversation.

There's a lot to love about Slack. First, it's getting widely known and used, so it's easy to integrate customers on a customer side, while keeping your company's side separate. Communication between those two workplaces is easy, which is important when customer communication and support are big parts of your business. Next, the integrations make it so functional. It has its own Wiki you can build in. It has Emojiis. It has gifs through GIPHY. It has integrations with Google Drive, Google Calendar, and Lattice. You can add images from your system. It gives you link previews if you want. You can mute channels. Just about anything, really. It makes keeping track of everything very simple and centrally located. It will alert you at a set amount of minutes before a meeting starts so you don't forget about it. It has a browser version, a desktop app version, and a mobile app version. It has public channels, private channels, group chats, and DMs. You can DM with yourself to jot down notes and reminders. You can set away messages, pause notifications, star important messages, and reply in threads to individual messages. The find feature also makes it so easy to look for anything you need to, well, find. You can make voice and video calls with it. It really is highly functional and quite user-friendly.

There's truthfully not much to dislike about Slack. The potential only gripe I have is not a gripe at all, it's a request. It'd be lovely if you could set yourself as away for certain channels or people, while remaining active for select groups/people. But I would be surprised if that's not a feature that's coming soon.

Communication is a breeze, regardless of who you need to talk to. Client communication is so easy, and being able to separate client and internal communication while still staying in the same place is truly remarkable. All the features listed in the positives section are the problems it solves and the benefits it has. Apps, integrations, reminders, finding features, everything.

I can start a conversation with anyone in the organisation, share files and links and keep in touch with what's going on around the company utilising Slack channels. Integration with other apps (Google Calendar, Monday.com, etc.) is also pretty cool, allows notifications from said apps to then appear in Slack; it's great to be notified in one place!

Disappearing messages. After a while, older conversations will disappear from view, so I wouldn't recommend using it to preserve any information that may be important!

Collaboration with teammates and colleagues scattered across the globe, with Slack it's easy to keep in touch no matter where you are, you can also use your mobile phone if you're primary work laptop/PC is not at hand.

Slack is great for connecting with your teammates remotely. I love how it is available on any device and platform. I have it on my mac, phone, and tablet to always catch up and reply on the go.

They recently introduced a new feature called Huddle recently, which is an absolute banger. However, there are still some teething issues that happen intermittently. The quality of the mic recording, for example, could be improved.

We were looking for an easy-to-setup messaging tool to communicate with teammates across different countries and timezone seamlessly. We needed a tool that would allow us to work remotely and asynchronously. Slack fits that use case ideally.

can't think of anything i dislike about the product. i dont like how links get attached when you message them? not a big deal really. i think there are probably a lot of functions slack has that i don't know about.

Slack solves communication problems that arose during COVID. slack makes it so much easier to talk to your teammates, and the reactions make it feel more fun even when you're talking about work.

With Slack, I can reach out to a variety of people in my company and get answers quicker than email or support. My phone system integrates with Slack as well as SFDC.

The only thing I dislike is that I get a lot of notififcations and sometimes miss the ones from my post. If there was a way to modify the noise it would be helpful.

Finding answers quickly to customer problems and getting them resolved in a timely manner so I can continue selling.

Very easy to use. Helps the team collaborate and has great intergrations that allow for good notifications.

I can't think of anything that isn't an admin function being blocked or controlled by my org.

I like being connected no matter what device I am using. Whether it be a phone, tablet, or computer, I can keep in touch with my collegues.

When their service has an outage, it makes things hard. Or if they change their usage limits.

Receiving Slack notifications throughout the day is a bit frustrating for me. There are numerous ways to notify you when you have one or more new messages.

It makes it easy to share and collaborate with someone in real-time. I can share something funny and offtopic with co-workers.

I like how this platform is easily set up for my company. We are able to make channels and add whomever we want to the channel to start a group with. It's also nice that you can have so many people on the platform.

If I had to give one cretic, it would be that at times, my notifications lag on appearing or I do not get alerted at all. That's just me being super nit-picky because the platform is truly wonderful!

Slack is a platform that brings together my whole company. We have many employees all over the world that we are easily able to connect with. We can also see if someone is out of office or sick or busy.
