Toptal provides excellent opportunities in terms of learning and working. I can find experts in the IT area easily. And another important point is that you can find a job based on your free time.
There are several clients who do now know what they want. I faced some clients whose plans are not ready. In that case, it will be hard to work with them and plans change every time. I consider that one a waste of time for both developer and client.
Finding a developer that suits a position is a challenging process. Toptal can easily find a developer for a client and organize a meeting for them. Salary is always paid on time. There is not any mistake in the working system of Toptal. For me, my time is dynamic. Therefore I find Toptal really helpful.
Possibility of working completely remote, be it hourly, part-time or full-time with excellent clients from all around the world. Freedom regarding working hours, since there are clients from all around the world you will always find one that matches your working hours. Pay is very competitive and your skills are greatly valued, no matter where you are from. Billing is done completely by the platform, so you don't need to worry about invoicing the client or anything like that. The platform also helps a lot in finding jobs based on your skill set and will actively suggest open positions when you don't have any clients. Usually, you won't stay without a client for more than two or so weeks. The matching team is very friendly and will always help you with any issues or questions you find, plus the company is always investing on talents and even coming as far as providing training in new technologies.
Honestly, I don't think there are any major downsides, the platform is very good. The only minor issue I can think of is the small period (~20 days) between a work week/period being completed and the payment is made, for someone just getting started it's quite some time, but after around a month in you won't perceive that time difference anymore, as the payments will just keep coming.
Toptal has helped me find new clients and work on projects like I never imagined I would before, I got to meet many different people, had very nice challenges (in the good sense!) and could increase my income greatly while keeping a great work/life balance.
Work from anywhere. Work with a wide variety of clients. Solve challenging problems for various small and large businesses. Fair payment scheme. Very good support from Toptal teams in terms of getting new clients.
There are a few downsides. Sometimes the clients are very demanding. The scope of work is more and the client would want to get the job done with very small amount of time.
Toptal is solving problems for various organisations by providing them with curated talents in each specific area thereby helping clients to solve their business problems in an efficient way.
Professional team of matchers who can find appropriate clients based on freelancer skills and preferences.
Nothing comes to mind. They are doing a pretty good job.
Toptal provides vetted freelancers for clients looking to scale their teams dynamically. On the other hand provides more potential clients to the freelancers.
The best things I find on the Toptal platform (as a QA Engineer) are: - hourly rates are dictated by myself, and I am always aware if those are high, I will be less likely able to find the project - working schedule is in my hands - I can pick if I need an hourly job, semi-daily or full-time engagement - there are always active jobs on the Dashboard - independence - personal experience is that Toptal engineers are more skillful than ones that are met on the projects, so there is no limit to how high you can go in the hierarchy (leading roles) - big Slack community - you are always paid for your work, Toptal takes care of the charging part (if, for any reason, the client is late with the payments, or has different payment cycles)
Engineers coming from Toptal are mostly considered expensive Engineer can't discuss the salary updates Freelancers are not treated as employees ( of course, this is not Toptal's fault, but the downside of the outsourcing)
Income problems are solved. Not that I had ones, but my income increased 3 times since I chose to work only for the Toptal and leave the company environment. It is also improved my learning curve.
Consistent freelancing gigs! Occupy more 85% of the year! Most years I'm working 10+ months continually
For long term engagements toptal could provide additional benefits to the talent and pay! Since they bring a client that's make sense they take their cut from the first few months! But if it's longer term than that cut should be reduced.
Connecting freeelancers with clients in a much better way!
The number of available jobs is great. The quality of projects is pretty high too. Most of the jobs have great flexibility in work schedules. Payments are always on time. Another great thing is the Toptal community, where you can discuss ideas, get help with technical problems, and also be able to develop professional skills.
Frequently changing project owners from Toptal's end makes freelancers have to explain the background of project/client history every time there is a need to adjust projects. The vetting process is a bit debated, where sometimes very talented people are left out.
Reliability of remote work is a major problem every freelancer has to go through. Toptal solves this specific problem. You can find jobs of your desired length, I have worked on the same project for many years. Another big problem in the freelance world is the ability to learn new skills when you freelance. I have seen people needing to do jobs with very specific skills to have a reliable income. But with Toptal, you can look for projects which are a good fit for your current skills, but also offer great learning opportunities.
The Toptal platform allows me to focus on what I do best: transferring my 20 years of experience working at top-tier investment banks around the world to provide financial services advice to assist client's in their search for financing. Toptal undertakes all the client sourcing, on-boarding, fee negotiation, and invoicing, allowing me to maximize my productive time with clients.
There is nothing thus far which i dislike.
Sourcing
The rate and flow is amazing. i like everything about it.
There are not many filters when looking for a job.
Toptal is helping me dodge unnecessary hr and technical interviews.
Toptal is a great platform to work with remote clients. Getting a great opportunity to explore my skills.
Well I can say there are no such issues with Toptal. It works smoothly and is just perfect.
Work with real-time problems faced by big companies and help them to resolve. Also it helps financially as well to grow.
