I've been freelancing for eight years, and Toptal is one step ahead of all other platforms I've tried. They have some of the best clients with exciting and challenging projects. Toptal has a support team for literally anything one can think of. They also have one of the most active and helpful communities I've seen. Some other things that I like are professional development opportunities and ease of receiving payments (you can get a virtual card, order Toptal physical card, or simply transfer money to your account). Salaries are much higher than in any platform I used. Toptal also has a referral program. Another great thing is the TopVolenteer program which connects top-level professionals from the Toptal network to projects with great causes.

It was a bit hard to pass the vetting, but it's totally worth it.

Thanks to the hard vetting process, there are only high-level professionals in Toptal's network, so my application for a project is not lost in a pile of applications from inexperienced developers. I also spend less time finding the next project (I get hired in 1 of every two applications) with high salary

Occasional issues with the UI. They might consider switching video clients to Google Meet or Zoom. Might be good to have three or more suggested consultants when getting started.

Creating a cutting edge version of my vision of a product. I'd tried Upwork or WordPress on my own and it just didn't have the functionally I needed. Better to have a lightweight and fast product that is streamlined to do exactly what you need.

Toptal makes it very easy for me to get clients to work with. From creating a great resume/portfolio to helping one with tips in an interview, the whole process just feels awesome.

I can't think of any part of Toptal that doesn't work well at the moment. They offer very great service.

Toptal helps connect me with such clients that need my skills. This helps me tremendously as a host of clients use the platform to look for talents like me.

Premium clients, a clean payment schedule and excellent support, is where I feel Toptal excels in the "remote work" fraternity. Apart from that, many other perks like community programs, personal development and learning programs come as an added bonus.
