The ability to bring up a web based application quickly that will work on multiple browsers and on multiple devices without having to create specific code for different combinations is a life saver! I can focus on creating the best content for the business process and not worry about if my user base is on a phone or a tablet or a desktop computer and if it is a Mac or a PC. The ability to bring together multiple data sources into one application and bring them all to one page as usable information has also proven to be a huge asset.
From a programmers perspective in which I am used to writing in code and able to do anything at all, it is a little challenging to understand the interface. But once immersed in the creation process it is just like learning a new language, and it becomes clear and easier to understand.
Many manual processes are being rolled into the application and as users see the ease of use and benefit more additional processes are being selected to be integrated into the application. This is creating a streamlining of workflow that was not in place prior to this.
The platform allows for automation that has assisted our business. It has a number of uses that allow it be the source for multiple reports and data sets, creating a more accessible tool with many functions.
It has some limitations to customizability, such as charts and email functionality.
It lets our business to track live economics based on API connected data, allowing us to make decisions and understand how the business is operating in a given period. It also stores thousands of datapoints for easy access.
Knowledge of SQL quickly translates to the ability to develop applications.
Low-code/No-code doesn't mean NO code. Still need a developer.
Report data from multiple external systems in one place.
Flexibility in creating attractive and intiuative dashboards, custom reports, and corporate applications.
Somewhat difficult to create new features, despite no-code / low-code intent. Support development is frequently required for siginficant improvements / new features.
Custom applications, KPI platform, data warehouse. Vinyl has become the internal "source-of-truth" at our company and has become a trusted resource for teammembers in all departments.
Easy to use platform. Solutions architects are great developers and help enhance our products.
The frequent major changes to the UI sometimes make it hard to know how to do things. The release process is a bit clunky and hard to figure out although it has been improved a lot recently.
Vinyl is allowing our business users to have more responsibility in how their products are organized and maintained. Allows a lot of flexibility in our business solutions.
Low code, great in-app reporting/dashboards, proprietary company CRM
Must use Zudy/vinyl team for development
better connection points for data, one-stop-shop for all things revenue
We have enjoyed working with the engineers. They have made it easy to implement our idea.
Nothing at this time. We are still implementing
Nothing yet
It helps us quickly develop dashboard displays to analyze network configuration data. It helps us quickly build a web application to demonstrate concept and feasibility to customers and leaders. You can achieve this without having to code much.
VINYL is a faily new platform, so there is not as much outside helps such as stackoverflow, but their knowledgebase and community forum occasionally make up for that.
We wanted to display a dashboard consisting of massive data set in a digestible manner. We can get the application in the hand of users quickly and gather further feedback to refine the product.
The object-oriented nature of Vinyl allows for very clean and fast queries on data. Also, the functionality is very complex and thorough, it'll do whatever you need it to as long as you know where to look.
Features and options can be hidden or not named intuitively. This adds to the learning curve, but once you understand the naming conventions, it becomes a breeze to learn new features.
Connecting to large data sets that are not the best in terms of proper db structure. Vinyl helps to significantly increase the accessibility to the data and create easy to use applications to view and modify the data. Being able to dynamically access data in a user friendly way helps others see the value in the data we collect and increase interest in moving away from an antiquated system.
The ability to build tables and do complex joins much faster than hard-coding them myself in SQL. A close second would be the Vinyl's ability to handle building the app's GUI more or less on its own; being able to focus on functionality and not have to worry (as much) about how it looks saves a great deal of time.
Inflexible at times ("no code" really means "no code," so if what you're trying to do isn't a built-in feature, you're more or less out of luck), UI customization limited so aesthetics often look similar from app to app. It also has a relatively steep learning curve -- hence my lower grade for "ease of use" -- so it takes a while to get used to all of its little quirks and idiosyncrasies.
We've used Vinyl to solve a wide array of business problems in myriad industries. Everything from talent management, to suit fitting, to internal communications and reporting apps have been built with Vinyl. As for the benefits I've realized, the biggest thing has to be extremely quick delivery. Everything from building a POC, to fixing a bug, to delivering an app to prod happens on a much faster schedule than usual.
It is easy to connect Vinyl to multiple data sources and make them available within an application using a configurable highly configurable UI.
Vinyl always has new features (major and minor) being added and it is hard to stay on top of all the new features.
Workflow management, advanced dashboards, business process management, multi-datasource integrations.
Was easy to learn to set up my stations, talent, and shows.
Sales not fully engaged yet, so many "pending" requests linger
comprehensive tracking of endorsement requests and campaigns to avoid conflicts
helps to keep my on air personalities endorsement opportunities safe
this is an extra tool in my very busy day
all requests can be added, deleted and managed in a relatively short time frame.
Vinyl's secret sauce is its ability to connect to many different data connections and bring them into a single streamlined interface. Using one IDE for links to APIs, SFTP, Veeva, etc., has increased our speed and flexibility in delivering complex solutions. The Vinyl model of unlimited Apps/unlimited users has also been great. It has given us the capability to deliver many great projects in Vinyl.
Vinyl has a learning curve, but nothing is more extreme than any other platform. However, some features are not intuitive and are not always fully documented. In hotfixes and significant upgrades to the platform, there have been changes to features/controls in the IDE that weren't communicated.
We use Vinyl to fill in the white space in our Enterprise environment. Vinyl can often bridge the gap between two Apps that wouldn't normally communicate or augment an app to develop additional features that aren't available. With this approach, we have successful Vinyl apps in every business area.
As someone who isn't super tech savvy, VINYL is simple and straight forward to use. It made sense from the moment I logged in.
Sometimes the system almost seems too simple and basic, but that could be user error in the sense that I haven't learned all the features yet. So not a true negative until I use it more.
We had to build a CRM in a very short time frame due to other reasons. The system has accomplished that for us and allowed us to continue with our business development efforts.
Vinyl is a quick and less code development tool to create data forms, reports. dashboards etc
The internal queries that VInyl builds are sometimes heavy on data performance and slowness. More security and single sign on
We use the backend SQL stored proc compiled logic to better the tool's data performance issues. So the tool can get better by utilizing underlying database stored procedures so resolve performance issues
It's very intuitive, even the first time user can figure out how & what to do
N/A - I haven't encountered any issues that I haven't been able to figure out
Assigning 150+ market access to users to update hundreds of on-air personality endorsements and monitoring of sponsorship tour
It is quick to get a request in to the TR to get a acceptance back
The categories for finding out if someone has a conflict are too broad
getting more endorsements on the air
It's very easy to click through the tabs and search for needed information.
It's very slow when loading some profiles and aspects.
It's quick and easy to search for things I need when building proposals
Very versatile, easy to use and quick feedback loop
Harder to customize for specific desired outcomes
Helping us build an app without having to develop from scratch
