Compare Vinyl with other popular tools in the same category.
From manually distributing paper to a report/dashboard our users were able to easily navigate Vinyl's front end reporting and workflow tools.
While I have some SQL background and have taken Vinyl trainings, we rely on Vinyl's development team to help us create complex reports and workflows. I can navigate a bit myself but usually will need assistance.
Changing business processes from manual/paper to digital form, creating new reports and analytics for the front and back office.
The software is very flexible and allows us to make changes throughout the development process without any costly setbacks. The Zudy team also spent the time to understand our business
There's not many items to dislike because the Zudy team has been able to overcome every challenge during development
We use the program to run our operations and connect to multiple internal and external databases to streamline our entire operation
Flexibility, Quick turnaround, Easy configurations and Search capabilities within Data Catalog
Framework limitation of separating menu items with vinyl view page names. Hope it will be addressed soon.
It allows us to add database schemas, objects, panels and customizations quickly and few clicks to deploy the solution into production. Search capabilities to find Catalog entries and data within view pages are very useful and save users time.
Easy to build, use & customize! The team supporting our Vinyl application is dedicated to improving the solutions they offer and is always willing to work with our teams to create the best outcomes.
The interface is great and an improvement from a similar product that we used previously, but it has some limitations in what you can customize to fit your needs. Additionally, I think it could be upgraded a bit to continue to meet design best practices & modernization when it comes to web applications.
It's allowing us to deliver products without the R&D, expertise and people that would typically go into this process. It's also helping us drive revenue and lower expenses in a very meaningful way at our business.
Vinyl makes app development easy. If we think of a problem to solve, we can envision Vinyl being able to solve it with an app. Vinyl is "low code", but it also allows the user to understand how it is working on the back end and simplifies a lot of the configuration needed to build apps. The UI layer is impressive and has many options to build a front end from simple form entries, to complex linked pages and reports. The training modules are also very well done and make it easy to onboard new developers.
I have not found any downsides yet. It's a very flexible product.
We are solving the rigidity and complexity of our ERP system with a much simpler front end and business layer in Vinyl. For example, we can create an app in Vinyl that allows a user to submit and process a PO request in the ERP system. The benefit is that the app makes the end user's life much easier because the ERP system is so difficult to use to create a simple PO.
Easy to use . Maintenance of existing software is stratght forward. Design of UI is excellent
Writing code is the way I do things. Learning object oriented programming is slow for us old coders
We have used vinyl to create a standard UI for our facility. Complex functions are being handled in the background, so operators don't have to deal with them.
Great app development experience. Architects and developers involved in the project are extremely proficient on both how to build applications and on the Zuzy / Vinyl platform.
At this point of the app. development, there's nothing I have found that I dislike, on the contrary, the more I learn about Vinyl, the more happy and impressed I am with the capabilities of Vinyl. Gladly impressed.
In my particular case, we are solving the problem of turning a pen and paper inspection into a digital mobile solution that will go above and beyond, giving extra benefits for the users.
Multiple apps all using the same core data.
Crystal reports are sometimes challenging.
Master Data Management & Development of new SKU's.
I've built many applications in VINYl under compressed timelines. VINYL has several advantages to accomplish this. I can prototype quickly, implementing data schema and user interfaces as I go. I can leverage APIs from external providers, as well as build internally configured ones between VINYL apps. From an efficiency perspective, security through roles and groups is built in, simply requiring some configuration. I've used advanced features when needed to take advantage of custom scanner behavior and other types of peripherals.
I've seen VINYL extend many of its features and its general ease of use over time. One critical improvement would be a mechanism to undo changes or potentially roll back to an established milestone during the development process.
I've implemented all manner of solutions with VINYL, including line of business applications involving warehouse management, call centers, shipping, and billing. I've also used VINYL for a single straight-forward function like fulfilment that needed to be available within a week. VINYL's two biggest benefits to me are rapid development and centralization. Larger projects should still establish good planning artifacts, but its really nice to find everything in one place and be able to turn changes around during the course of a review meeting.
I've been developing low-code / no-code applications to help my Team and my Clients for 15 years now, and Vinyl represents an evolutionary step in the capability of this technology. An application can progress from an idea to a proof-of-concept in hours - not weeks, or months. The online training is comprehensive, so I was able to quickly ramp-up. There is an active community of app developers who are willing to share their know-how, and a knowledge-base that is a permanent record of questions and answers from the developers. In short, Vinyl is a powerful platform.
In the development work I've done, I don't have a complaint. The platform has worked as expected, the technology is mature, and if I don't know how to achieve something I can get help from the Wiki, or ask a Question on the Forums, or even ask for specific help. The support team has also been easy to work with when I've asked for help at the database server level. My observation is that the capabilities of Vinyl are huge (hello REST APIs, Widgets, Workflow, etc.,), and I don't have time to learn about those capabilities at the moment.
I have been building a suite of applications to improve the delivery capabilities of my Consulting Business, and to provide a differentiator between my business and my competitors. The applications I have developed are a significant improvement on the ideas I had when I started - I can now deliver powerful dashboards for individuals and teams that were not possible 10 years ago.
At Darn Tough Vermont, we have been using Vinyl for over two years, and it’s been a fantastic asset for the company. We recently went live with an Infor M3 ERP system and used Vinyl and the Zudy team to help with our data conversion effort. With our successful go-live, we are now in the process of using the data conversion solution/knowledge to build out tools for master data management as well as other mass change/loading tools for M3 ERP. We have also utilized Vinyl to build numerous other tools from, Specification management and shop floor labeling to Rep commission solutions. Zudy and their Vinyl solution allow us to build out quick, stable solutions with very little help from a developer. Vinyl has reduced the load on our developers while still allowing IT to deliver far more solutions than we could have without Vinyl.
Like all enterprise-level tools, there is a learning curve. I think it's well worth the time and effort, but I'd also like to see continued focus on simplifying processes. On the good side, the team does an excellent job training, and Zudy has continued to deliver new functionality and ease of use.
We used vinyl and the Zudy team for our ERP data conversion effort and we have built out many solutions across the company where, in the past, we would have involved developers to create from scratch. With Vinyl we can deploy solutions much faster and they are easier to support. Its also been nice having the Zudy team available to quickly build solutions, when we don't have the internal bandwith.
The folks at VINYL are so collaborative. It is so wonderful working with them for the following reasons: They are active listeners. They ask clarifying questions vs working off assumptions. They are personable, engaging and fun. Their turn around time to delivery and quality of their delivery is off the charts amazing!
There isn't anything I don't like about working with VINYL.
VINYL has been a great way for us to add companion apps to our core operating systems. The integrations are working amazingly well and our business stakeholders have improved processes because of it.
The team that I work with for Vinyl is knowledgeable on the system and understanding of client needs.
I don't have anything that I dislike about Vinyl. The system works exactly as I would expect it to.
Vinyl has done everything from changing our onboarding from 30 pages to completely electronic. These new systems have made our productivity increase drastically.
Working with Zudy has been amazing. They have moved us ahead so fast in the products we wanted to develop. This is a relationship we should have started years ago. Attention to detail and speed that both Chris and Jason excute with.
Nothing. The process is the way it should be. See my other notes on what we liked best.
Making out machines run better with simple interfaces and apps
Simple UI configuration with flexibility for any number of fields and navigations from one screen to other Low code to no code dev platform - plug & play Competitive with multiple other tools
Our integration with SAP requires APIs to be developed. This adds complexity to develop APIs with the backend tables Would be nice to have if the integration is made easier
Generally huge timeline is required for developments on RF. Setting up error messages, scroll buttons, back buttons on RF are easy to setup. Performance of platform is good as well
We are able to connect to all our data sources effectively integrating them on the Vinyl platform.
The increased flexibility (over our prior platform) came with a slightly steeper learning curve however the trade-off is well worth the effort.
We are integrating business processes that were previously taking place in several best-of-breed platforms. In some cases, we elected to move the process/functionality entirely onto the Vinyl platform. In those instances where we elected to remain on the third-party platform, we've had great success integrating and automating such that our processes feel seamless from an end-user perspective.
Extensible data integration capability; Flexible and dynamic app builder. We were able to build an app that provided more capabilities and functionality in just 3 weeks to replace a more cumbersome, expensive and less flexible technology stack. With this effort we were also able to aggregate large data sets from a number of different data sources from vaious platforms and external data providers.
Wish the Vinyl platform provided for more creative design options.
Aggregated massive amount of data from a number of different data sources into intuitive insights that are easily consumable by our field teams through various platforms (desktop and mobile).
The team behind Vinyl, Zudy, has been extremely helpful with our endeavor. For the past few months, we have been working on quite a dynamic e-commerce app, and they have risen to every challenge we've thought up. The communication from their end is very efficient they've been ever cognizant of our budget and timeline.
Given our unique situation, the Vinyl Training hasn't been as successful for me as they don't have many examples of B2C. The "no/low code" changes I should be able to make will take a little more time to comprehend, but it really isn't that bad.
They have created a wonderful UI/UX app for our e-commerce business by connecting to Shopify, which is what we're based on.
We utilized the Zudy Vinyl platform to develop an Inventory Management application for our Creative team and a Credential Management application for our 2021 Season Credentials. Vinyl is a powerful platform that enabled rapid deployment. The Zudy professional services team acted as an extension of our team and were invested in our success.
While not steep, there is a learning curve.
We were able to deliver applications to the business in a much shorter cycle. The Vinyl applications are easy to use and streamline work flows.
Our business partners love the appearance of Vinyl's data presentations! As an IT resource working with Zudy on our Vinyl applications, I love how easily it integrates with our varied data sources, and how versatile it is.
I'd like to understand more about how to diversify the views that we could show the business.
We have increased access and visibility to trends within our business that enables our executives to make data driven decisions.
The experience and interaction with the Vinyl platform is a real game-changer, as it allows us to deliver results in very short rapid timelines. The client engagement and experiences are vastly improved, with the ability to showcase outcomes quickly. The ability to upskill team members on the platform is quick and easy, and the data-centric approach is brilliant.
The downside is the potential resistance from old school developers who are used to build from scratch approach. The Vinyl platform provides them with a proper re-use approach to code development.
Our primary outcome with leveraging Vinyl is to deliver solutions in weeks rather than months. In addition, due to the ease of use, we can upskill team members quickly and address the fundamental skills shortage we have in our marketplace.
I like Vinyl's ability to connect to various data sources/systems and show data inside a single application, so there is no need to switch applications constantly.
There is a pretty steep learning curve before you can develop a little bit more advanced applications. However, their LMS and documentation are very well structured, which helps a lot while learning.
Instead of hiring developers to develop custom applications for each business need, with Vinyl, you get a solution that enables you to create every possible application quickly inside a single platform. Compared to similar solutions on the market, their pricing is very affordable.
We use multiple Zudy applications to power a number of unique elements of our media business. VINYL allows us to aggregate key intelligence in a single place, simplifies our employees' workflows, and powers crucial reporting to pull it all together. Our awesome architects help us make the most of the VINYL platform - can't say enough good things about the Zudy team. Don't hesitate to use VINYL to build your next custom application!
That I don't have more time or budget to work with Zudy!
We are managing complex rate cards and non-traditional "inventory" for multiple teams that previously had very few software tools. No other solution had the level of customization needed to run these sides of our business.
Vinyl has a very productive user interface for application development and takes away many of the time-consuming data-processing and security management development tasks. Designers can therefore focus on the business requirements and develop fully working applications within days. Do you want more than the comprehensive standard functionality? No problem: they offer full integration with HTML, Javascript, external programs, and with most external databases that can be mixed and matched. What impressed me as well, is that you can design your user interface to such a level, that we now use the same application design environment for the back-office as for the visually attractive smartphone APP that is used by our members. This design environment is complemented by a support team that is both responsive and friendly, and, more importantly, focused on producing the functionality that you want to achieve.
Basically, there isn't anything that I dislike about Vinyl. It takes a (brief) learning curve to split every functionality up in a database, a logic (business rules) and a user interface part as many of us are used to seeing each program as one complete item, but when you experience the productivity gain that is achieved with this 3-way split and develop more functions, it becomes like bread and butter: easy and you can add any layer or request that you want.
I started with a request for a smartphone APP. A development friend with over 20 years of experience in 4GL's advised Vinyl, but I was very hesitant because the smartphone APP was for our customers and an attractive UI was the number 1 requirement. So I started with hesitance but was fully convinced within 2 weeks. Now we are moving also our back-office development to Vinyl. For new functionality, it proved to be quicker to re-design in Vinyl than to adapt our existing system.
The ease and ability of standing up Production-ready apps on the fly!
Better Release Management (or at least a more formal system of promoting changes form Dev to QA/Prod)
Ad Sales Campaigns, CRM, Inventory, and advertisement trafficking
Vinyl is highly flexible and customizable making it the perfect solution to integrate into our unique global business. Through the Vinyl platform, our team members can architect and deploy turn-key applications that enable them to work more productively and spend time on value-added tasks.
We are a happy customer at this point in time.
Vinyl has helped our organization solve problems across Accounts Receivable, Internal Controls, Sales, and Financial Reporting. A huge benefit of the Vinyl platform is it aggregates data and information from multiple solutions and shapes it into a format that is easy to digest and use by the end consumer. In addition, our organization has become less reliant on managing our business through MS Excel spreadsheets which in return has enabled our employees to work more efficiently as the applications are tailored to their day-to-day operations.
My team has found Vinyl to be intuitive and flexible. We were able to learn how to use Vinyl quickly to both rebuild and create multiple new applications in a very short timeframe. Vinyl has significantly changed the way our team delivers applications both internally and externally and has dramatically reduced the time for our team to deliver better applications. Over the years, we have worked with many vendors and consultants on application development, but none of those companies even come close to Zudy’s support team. Our support leads are extremely responsive and accommodating with their time—they have really helped us learn the platform and methodology. They have also been very helpful to provide solutions to some of the unique needs in our applications. We really can't say enough about Zudy as a company.
Any platform will have elements that may not work for your specific business requirements, but given how responsive Zudy has been to find solutions, it is difficult to find anything major we truly dislike about Vinyl or Zudy. Vinyl inherently is very intuitive and flexible and the support program certainly augments those aspects.
We are using Vinyl to address multiple business needs both internally and for our customers in the Healthcare Supply Chain data analytics space. Internally, we have built our Corporate Business Intelligence platform and contracting operations application with Vinyl. Our business requirements are not typical, but Vinyl enables my team to adjust and meet those requirements where other platforms could not. Our customer facing apps provide Hospitals and Health systems with insight into their supply chain operations through analytics. Our apps are designed to help our end users save their systems money.
The detailed process of breaking down our operations
Doesn’t sync in real-time with our systems but this is our internal flaw.
Vinyl is helping us to make extremely time-consuming processes faster and more streamlined for the many parties involved. We will have more time to focus on quality and improvement.
no code, quick deployment, API support...
needs to be able to work off line and sync data when on line!
connected worker
They listen to your needs and execute it perfectly.
I have absolutely 0 complaints about Brian or Isaac.
We are in the process of building a new platform for our field service program, the changes we have discussed and the implementation of this new application will be tremendously beneficial for day to day operations for our company.
