We've been with BigCommerce for about two years. BigCommerce offers an excellent platform and fine customer service. This is a dramatic improvement over experiences with former companies.
I have no complaints about this company. It takes a lot of work to build a site, but BigCommerce simplifies the process.
We have clients navigating the site easily, asking questions, and placing orders.
I like everything about the BigCommerce platform. I've spent 10 times more money on other tailored sites and I would never do that again after using the BigCommerce options. I've often commented to people it's like a platform designed by a business user/owner and not a computer geek!!. No offence anyone. Very good all round service from the BigCommerce team. Highly recommended.
No dislikes, if anything I'd like a free phone number to call in emergencies.

It was so easy to setup our store front in a super short period of time. The templates are fabulous and sharp.
I wish we weren't limited to store front pages - would like to incorporate main website info.
We needed a classy store front for online orders. This fits the bill!
I love the user interface. Bigcommerce has invested in their product, and uses user-feedback to add new functionality. Having been a part of the original re-design, I can definitely tell that they put more into their product than anyone else. They want to help their users set up their online store quickly and effectively. And they even grew a whole new department (client success) to help the user do that by assisting with imports and questions.
I dislike the pricing structure. Someone with only one, awesome product still has to pay to get features like the abandoned shopping cart. Also, some of the designers listed on the "experts" list have very poor customer service, and over-promise on when the design will be completed, taking months, if not years. I would say that a better selection process be used for designers to be on the "experts" list, perhaps having more than one list for different client types.
How mothers are buying products online for themselves and their children. I have realized that selling online is a great way to make a second income.
The price is economical and the support is first class.
Most add on which can be essential doesn't comes free
Migrating from a self hosted ecoomerce platform to a hosted ecommerce site.
Can easily incorporate the advanced and required tools that ecommerce really work.
I've always heard that it is more difficult to work in than for design than Spotify but I've never confirmed this and I don't really care. I always outsource design work.
I want to efficiently launch ecommerce businesses. It's perfect for that.
Easy to use Admin interface with every tool needed to create and run an online store. By far the most user friendly cart on the market
I think that the issue's that stem the most are non-customizable forms and custom product tabs
Finding a solution that has the complete package including access to customize product tabs and editing the check page form fields to taylor exact needs. Also being able to create products for delivery would be great to have calendar with delivery date
Very simple to use for someone with little experience. Relatively flexible.
Occasional quirky issues. The live help chat is good for beginners, but for experienced users it's rarely helpful.
Big Commerce makes it so much easier than our previous platform to update pricing and add new products. Organized method of making sure meta data and seo friendly information is filled in for every page. Great help explaining what should go in each field.
As an eCommerce web developer, BigCommerce is a fantastic solution for both the developer and the user. The platform is continually updated and improved, allows for flexible design customizations and easily adapts to your ecommerce marketing channels. Though every eCommerce platform has it's quarks or limitations, I would say that BigCommerce fits the bill for 99% of online selling requirements right out of the box.
Like I said previously, every platform has it's limitations or quarks that just don't seem to work right. For BigCommerce, the biggest set back comes in the shipping settings and controls. I often find that shipping can't be set up exactly how a customer would like to have it. I know this is an area that BigCommerce is working on, but currently there is much room for improvement. One of the other major set backs is that BigCommerce doesn't currently allow for recurring billing. Yes, gateways such as Authorize.net can accommodate recurring billing, unfortunately, you can't set it up through the checkout process on the front end. This is a real bummer for any subscription based service provider. Note: This is another item BigCommerce and many developers are currently working on.
One of the biggest problems that BigCommerce solves for many of our clients is content management. We migrate many users from other platforms such as Wordpress, drupal and joomla to BigCommerce and every one of them enjoys the easy to use content management ability. One of the other major benefits that BigCommerce users enjoy is that the platform is well maintained, updated and offers free technical support when you need it.
On the rare instances that we have had an issue on Big Commerce, the support we have received has been top-notch. The stability of the platform is the most important benefit we have gotten from Big Commerce, the store has never been down for any amount of time in the 18 or so months we have been using it. Our previous experience with a different product was not the same. We also were live less than 4 months after we made the decision to migrate to Big Commerce and we have around 5,000 SKUs on our site, so it ease of implementation and was huge for us. We also have many different customer types from different b2b and b2c customers, so integrating our ERP seamlessly has been great.
There needs to be a way for there to be 2 store owners, as only the store owner can perform certain functions. This is nitpicking though, we honestly have no complaints.
The stabiloity of our old platform was a major issue for us. Big Commerce has been very stable and their support has been great.
