Brevo Marketing Platform Pros and Cons
- Transactional and autoresponder mail options are available
- Offers 40,000 free emails monthly
- Design templates are well designed and very responsive
- Unable to recognize additional fields such as gender and date
- Limited third party integration
Brevo charges for emails sent rather than contacts stored, which makes it dramatically cheaper than Mailchimp or MailerLite for anyone with a large list they email infrequently. Contacts are unlimited even on the free plan. Two pricing quirks deserve attention before you buy: removing Brevo’s logo costs more than the entry plan itself, and there is nothing at all between the €13.50 Standard tier and the €449 Professional tier.
- What it is: A marketing automation platform covering email, SMS, WhatsApp, chat, a built-in CRM, and transactional messaging.
- Best for: Businesses with large contact lists and modest send volumes, and anyone who wants email plus SMS plus CRM from one vendor.
- Pricing: Free forever with 300 emails per day and unlimited contacts. Starter €6.33, Standard €13.50, Professional €449.08 per month on yearly billing. Verified in July 2026.
- The honest catch: On Starter, the “No Brevo logo” add-on costs €8.10 per month against a €6.33 plan, so paying to remove branding costs more than the plan you are removing it from.
What Is Brevo?
Brevo is the French company formerly known as Sendinblue, rebranded in 2023. It built its position on a pricing model that inverts the industry norm: where Mailchimp, MailerLite, and Kit all charge by subscriber count, Brevo charges by emails sent and lets you store contacts without limit.
That difference is not cosmetic. A business with 50,000 contacts that emails them once a month pays very little on Brevo and a great deal on subscriber-priced platforms. The reverse is also true, so a small list emailed daily is cheaper elsewhere. Working out which side of that line you fall on is the single most useful thing you can do before choosing.
Beyond email, Brevo covers SMS, WhatsApp, web and mobile push, live chat, and a genuinely included CRM. Transactional email and SMS run through the same account, which is unusual and convenient for product teams who would otherwise run a separate provider.
The independent ratings are consistently good: roughly 4.6 out of 5 on Capterra and 4.5 on G2 across 2,669 reviews.
How Brevo Works
- Send-based pricing with unlimited contacts. The defining characteristic, and the reason to consider it at all.
- Email and automation. Drag-and-drop editor, templates, AI content generation, and advanced segmentation from Starter, with marketing automation and A/B testing from Standard.
- Multi-channel. SMS on every plan, with WhatsApp, popups, and mobile and web push arriving at Professional.
- Built-in CRM. Included rather than sold separately, which reviewers repeatedly single out as unusual at this price. Deeper sales functionality is available through paid Sales Essentials and Sales Advanced add-ons.
- Transactional messaging. Product emails and SMS through the same platform as marketing, which avoids running a second provider.
Brevo Pricing
Four tiers, and the gaps between them are unusual. Figures verified in July 2026 on yearly billing, which applies a 10% discount. Brevo localizes currency, and the euro figures shown here correspond numerically to its dollar pricing.
| Plan | Yearly (per mo) | Emails | Key additions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | €0 | 300/day | Unlimited contacts, built-in CRM, SMS, transactional email, Brevo branding on all emails |
| Starter | €6.33 | From 5,000/month | Email and SMS, drag-and-drop editor, AI content generator, advanced segmentation, forms |
| Standard | €13.50 | From 5,000/month | Marketing automation, A/B testing, advanced reporting, AI send time optimization, web and event tracking, 1 landing page, no Brevo logo |
| Professional | €449.08 | From 150,000/month | WhatsApp, popups, mobile and web push, 10 user seats, contact scoring, advanced ecommerce, AI segmentation, AI Data Analyst, phone support |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Multi-account, custom objects, dedicated IP, SSO and SAML, CSM support |
The parts that matter most:
- Removing the logo costs more than the Starter plan. The “No Brevo logo” add-on is €8.10 per month on a €6.33 plan. Starter plus unbranded emails comes to €14.43, while Standard at €13.50 includes branding removal along with automation, A/B testing, and reporting. If you want unbranded email, Starter is the wrong purchase at any list size.
- The Standard to Professional gap is roughly 33x. €13.50 to €449.08, with nothing between them. A business that outgrows Standard’s features has no gentle upgrade path, and that cliff is far steeper than anything else in this category.
- The free plan is genuinely generous, with a hard daily cap. 300 emails per day, unlimited contacts, and a built-in CRM, free forever with no card required. The cap does not roll over, so a single 300-email campaign consumes the day.
- Free accounts carry Brevo branding on every email. Which returns you to the add-on arithmetic above.
- Sales features cost extra. Sales Essentials at €26.08 per month and Sales Advanced at €53.08 per user per month, which is worth noting if the built-in CRM is part of the appeal.
- Yearly billing saves 10%. Modest, so monthly billing is not heavily penalised.
Who Should Use Brevo
- Large lists, infrequent sends. The clearest case, and where send-based pricing produces genuine savings against subscriber-priced competitors.
- Teams wanting email, SMS, and CRM in one place. Included rather than assembled, which is rare below enterprise pricing.
- Product teams sending transactional messages. Marketing and transactional through one account removes a second vendor.
- European businesses. A French company operating under EU jurisdiction, which simplifies GDPR conversations.
It fits poorly for small lists emailed frequently, where subscriber pricing works out cheaper, for design-led brands, since reviewers describe customization as limited, and for businesses likely to outgrow Standard, given the 33x jump to Professional.
Honest Pros and Cons
Strengths
- Unlimited contacts on every plan, including free. Structurally cheaper for large, infrequently mailed lists.
- A genuinely free forever plan. 300 emails daily with no card, no expiry, and a built-in CRM.
- CRM included rather than upsold. Reviewers specifically note most all-in-one platforms charge extra for this.
- Real multi-channel coverage. Email, SMS, WhatsApp, push, and chat from one vendor.
- Transactional and marketing together. Avoids a separate provider for product email.
- Strong, consistent ratings. About 4.6 on Capterra and 4.5 on G2 across thousands of reviews.
Limitations
- The branding add-on is priced oddly. €8.10 per month to remove a logo from a €6.33 plan, which makes Starter a trap for anyone who cares about branding.
- A 33x gap between Standard and Professional. No intermediate tier, so growth past Standard is a cliff rather than a step.
- The free plan’s daily cap does not roll over. 300 emails a day means a single campaign to a modest list exhausts it.
- Customization is limited. Reviewers report constraints on more complex workflows and on design flexibility.
- Sales features are add-ons. The built-in CRM is basic, and real sales functionality costs €26.08 or €53.08 per month.
- Advanced channels need Professional. WhatsApp, popups, and push all sit behind the €449 tier.
Brevo Alternatives and How It Compares
- MailerLite is cheaper for small lists with a better editor, and charges by subscriber, so it loses on large lists.
- SendPulse competes directly on multi-channel breadth and low cost, with a dated interface.
- Omnisend is the ecommerce specialist, with stronger commerce automation.
- ActiveCampaign is far deeper on automation logic and considerably more expensive.
- Kit suits creators selling to their audience, with a 10,000-subscriber free plan.

The Verdict
Brevo is the right answer to a specific question: what should I use if I have a lot of contacts and do not email them constantly? Send-based pricing with unlimited contacts makes it structurally cheaper than subscriber-priced competitors in that scenario, and bundling SMS, chat, transactional messaging, and a CRM at these prices is genuinely good value. The 4.5 to 4.6 ratings across thousands of reviews reflect a platform that works.
Skip Starter, though. At €6.33 it looks like the budget option, but adding unbranded email costs €8.10, taking you to €14.43, above the €13.50 Standard plan that includes branding removal plus automation, A/B testing, and reporting. Unless you genuinely do not mind Brevo’s logo on your emails, Standard is both cheaper and better, and that is an odd thing to have to point out.
Then look ahead. The jump from Standard to Professional is roughly thirty-three times, with nothing in between, so if you expect to need WhatsApp, push notifications, or more than a couple of users, you are looking at €449 a month rather than a gradual increase. For businesses comfortably inside Standard’s limits that is irrelevant. For anyone growing quickly it is the most important number on the page.
FAQ
Is Brevo’s free plan really free?
Yes, permanently, with no credit card required. It includes 300 emails per day, unlimited contacts, a built-in CRM, SMS capability, and transactional email. The two meaningful limits are that the daily cap does not roll over, so unused sends are lost, and that every email carries Brevo branding unless you pay to remove it.
How much does Brevo cost in 2026?
On yearly billing, Starter is €6.33 per month, Standard €13.50, and Professional €449.08, with Enterprise custom priced. Yearly billing applies a 10% discount. Brevo localizes currency, so its dollar pricing corresponds numerically. Sales features are separate add-ons at €26.08 and €53.08 per user per month.
Why does removing Brevo’s logo cost so much?
It is priced as an €8.10 per month add-on regardless of plan, which is more than the €6.33 Starter plan itself. Standard at €13.50 includes branding removal, so Starter plus the add-on (€14.43) costs more than Standard while offering less. If unbranded email matters, go straight to Standard.
Is Brevo cheaper than Mailchimp or MailerLite?
It depends entirely on your list size versus send frequency. Brevo charges by emails sent with unlimited contacts, while Mailchimp and MailerLite charge by subscriber count. A large list emailed occasionally is markedly cheaper on Brevo; a small list emailed several times a week is usually cheaper on a subscriber-priced platform.
What is Brevo best for?
Businesses with substantial contact lists and moderate send volumes that want email, SMS, chat, transactional messaging, and a basic CRM from a single European vendor, at a price well below subscriber-priced competitors.

I've been using Brevo since its SendinBlue days, mainly for email marketing and SMTP relay with our office printer. So we use their service every day in that sense. The transition to Brevo brought noticeable improvements. What stands out is their customer support - even as a free account user, I received personalized, non-canned responses to my queries. This prompt and considerate support, especially for minor issues like the SMTP key length for our printer, is commendable." We don't use their integration tools/features, so I can't speak about those. The fact that Brevo maintains such high-quality service even for free user accounts is commendable, making me confident in considering their paid services as our company grows.
There was a hiccup with the SMTP key (password) length not fitting our printer's specs (too long. 90 characters length but the printer only accepts 64), but that's more about the printer than Brevo. Their team suggested reaching out to the manufacturer, which was a reasonable step. Also explained that 90 is for security reasons which I also agree. I suggested to my support representative to suggest our use case to their marketing or development department and he seems much obliged to do it. Aside from this, my experience has been mostly positive. No significant downsides to report.
Brevo's been a real time-saver for our email marketing and office tasks. It's easy to use for sending out emails, and even the free version does everything we need right now. This means less hassle with email campaigns, freeing us up to focus on more important stuff. The SMTP feature for our office printer has been a small but significant help too – it's one less thing to worry about in our daily operations. And when we did hit a snag with the SMTP key and our printer, Brevo's support was quick and helpful, even for a free account. It's not just about solving a tech issue; it's knowing they're there to support us, which is a big deal for a growing business.
