Bright Data Pros and Cons
- Largest residential proxy pool with broad geographic coverage and strong anti-bot/unlocking technology.
- Broad product suite: proxies (residential, datacenter, ISP), unlocker, scraper, datasets, media pipelines, archive.
- Strong compliance posture and transparent certifications (ISO, SOC2) and ethical sourcing model.
- Official CLI and SDKs, real-time & historical data support, and video/media extraction capabilities.
- Extensive integrations and support/training infrastructure (documentation, webinars, customer support).
- Premium pricing that can be expensive for smaller-scale or low-volume users.
- Complex product suite and pricing; steep learning curve for initial setup.
- Some features (e.g., mobile proxies, certain targeting options) may have limited availability or restrictions.
- No permanent free plan; free trials/credits are limited.
Every price on Bright Data’s residential proxy page is a promotional rate, and the banner above them says how long it lasts: “50% OFF Residential Proxies for 3 months”. The cards show $4.00, $3.50, $3.00 and $2.50 per GB with $8, $7, $6 and $5 struck through beside them. Those struck-through figures are what you pay from month four. Budget the right-hand column, not the left.
- What it is: The largest commercial web data platform — proxy networks, scraping APIs and prebuilt datasets.
- Best for: Teams collecting web data at volume that have outgrown a single scraping tool.
- Pricing: Thirteen separately-priced products; residential proxies from $5/GB at standard rates. Verified August 2026.
- The honest catch: The displayed proxy prices halve for three months only.
What Is Bright Data?
Bright Data is infrastructure rather than an application. Where a tool like Browse AI gives you a robot to point at a site, Bright Data sells the layers underneath — the IP networks, the unblocking, the browser farms — plus finished data on top.
The proxy networks are the foundation: 400M+ rotating residential IPs across 195 countries with free country, state, city, zip and ASN targeting, alongside 1.3M ISP (static residential) and 1.3M datacenter proxies, and a mobile network.
The web access APIs sit above that — an Unlocker API for CAPTCHAs and blocks, a SERP API covering Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo and Yandex, a Crawl API and a Browser API for remote stealth browsers.
The data feeds go further still: Scraper APIs for 600+ websites, a Scraper Studio, prebuilt Datasets from 600+ domains, and a Data Firehose delivering results as collected.
Then there is an AI layer — Search & Extract, an Agent Browser, Data Packages for LLM training, video and audio training data, and a free MCP server. Deep Lookup is in beta.
Bright Data cites 20,000+ customers.

Bright Data Pricing
Residential proxies — the flagship product, with the coupon RESIGB50 applied:
| Plan | Promo rate | Standard rate | Monthly | GB included |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pay as you go | $4.00/GB | $8/GB | none | — |
| 141 GB | $3.50/GB | $7/GB | $499 | 141 |
| 332 GB | $3.00/GB | $6/GB | $999 | 332 |
| 798 GB | $2.50/GB | $5/GB | $1,999 | 798 |
| Over 1 TB | Custom | Custom | Contact | Unlimited scale and seats, premium SLA, 99.99% uptime |
The rest of the catalogue, at its published starting rates:
| Product | From |
|---|---|
| Unlocker API (free tier) | $1 / 1k requests |
| Crawl API | $1 / 1k requests |
| SERP API (free tier) | $1 / 1k requests |
| Browser API | $5 / GB |
| Scraper APIs (free tier) | $0.75 / 1k records |
| Scraper Studio (free tier) | $1 / 1k requests |
| Datasets | $250 / 100k records |
| Data Firehose | $0.20 / 1k HTML |
| Retail Insights | $2,000 / month |
| Managed Data Acquisition | $1,500 / month |
| Datacenter proxies | $0.90 / IP |
| ISP proxies | $1.30 / IP |
What actually decides your cost:
- The proxy page shows promotional prices throughout, and the promotion is three months long. The site banner reads “Use code RESIGB50 at checkout to get 50% OFF Residential Proxies for 3 months!” and every card carries a “50% OFF” badge with the standard price struck through. This is disclosed rather than hidden — the original figures are printed right there — but a reader who anchors on $2.50/GB will be planning against a rate that becomes $5.00/GB in month four. On the 798 GB tier, that is roughly $1,999 a month becoming close to $4,000.
- Committing needs high utilisation to beat pay-as-you-go, and the smallest commitment needs the most. Against the promotional PAYG rate of $4.00/GB, the $499 tier breaks even at 125 GB of its 141 GB allowance — 88.5% utilisation. The $999 tier breaks even at 250 GB of 332 (75%), and the $1,999 tier at 500 GB of 798 (63%). So the entry commitment is the riskiest: use less than seven-eighths of it and you would have been better off with no commitment at all. Measure a month on pay-as-you-go before signing anything.
- There is no such thing as “the price of Bright Data”. Thirteen products are priced separately, in five different units: per 1,000 requests, per GB, per 1,000 records, per IP, and per month. The Browser API is billed per GB while the Crawl API is per 1,000 requests, so two ways of solving the same problem are not directly comparable without estimating your own traffic shape. Budgeting here means picking the product first and modelling the unit second.
- The free tiers are a genuine on-ramp. The Unlocker API, SERP API, Scraper APIs and Scraper Studio all carry a free tier, and the MCP server and Discover API are free outright. Combined with pay-as-you-go on all proxy types, that means you can validate whether Bright Data solves your problem before committing anything — which matters more than usual here, because the variable that decides your bill (how much bandwidth your scraping actually consumes) is nearly impossible to estimate in advance.
- The deposit match stacks with the coupon. The residential page offers to “match your first deposit dollar for dollar, up to $500”. Combined with 50% off for three months, a first deposit of $500 becomes $1,000 of credit spending at half rate — effectively $2,000 of standard-rate usage for $500. That is a real incentive, and also a reason to be deliberate: front-loading spend into the promotional window is exactly what it is designed to encourage.
- Volume discounting is real but modest. Moving from pay-as-you-go to the largest published tier takes you from $8 to $5 per GB at standard rates — a 37.5% reduction — for a $1,999 monthly commitment. Beyond 1 TB, pricing is custom, and that is where the “unlimited scale, unlimited seats, premium SLA and 99.99% network uptime” language appears.
- The finished-data products are priced for a different buyer entirely. Datasets at $250 per 100,000 records, Retail Insights from $2,000 a month and Managed Data Acquisition from $1,500 a month are not extensions of the proxy business — they are enterprise services with their own floors. If you arrived looking for proxies, ignore them; if you arrived wanting data without building a pipeline, they may be the only relevant part of the catalogue.
- The 141 GB tier’s arithmetic is very slightly off. $499 ÷ 141 GB = $3.539/GB, against the $3.50 shown on the card. A 1.1% rounding in Bright Data’s favour, immaterial in practice but worth noting since the other three tiers reconcile almost exactly ($999 ÷ 332 = $3.009; $1,999 ÷ 798 = $2.505).

Who Should Use Bright Data
- Teams scraping at genuine volume. The proxy network is the largest commercially available.
- Anyone blocked by sophisticated anti-bot systems. Residential IPs and the Unlocker API are the point.
- Buyers who want data, not infrastructure. Prebuilt Datasets cover 600+ domains.
- AI teams needing training data. Video, audio and LLM-ready packages are a distinct product line.
It fits poorly for small or occasional scraping jobs, where a single tool will be far cheaper; for teams needing predictable monthly costs, since almost everything is consumption-priced; and for anyone budgeting from the promotional rates without reading the three-month term.
Honest Pros and Cons
Strengths
- 400M+ residential IPs across 195 countries, with free geo and ASN targeting.
- Free tiers on Unlocker, SERP, Scraper APIs and Scraper Studio, plus a free MCP server.
- Pay-as-you-go on every proxy type — no commitment required to start.
- A genuine 37.5% volume discount from PAYG to the top published tier.
- Prebuilt datasets for teams that want data rather than pipelines.
- AWS Marketplace billing available.
Limitations
- Displayed proxy prices are 50% off for three months only.
- Thirteen products across five pricing units — no single price exists.
- The $499 tier needs 88.5% utilisation to beat pay-as-you-go.
- Bandwidth consumption is hard to forecast, and it drives the bill.
- Enterprise data products start at $1,500–$2,000 a month.
- Above 1 TB, pricing is unpublished.
Bright Data Alternatives and How It Compares
- Browse AI is the no-code alternative for a handful of sites — far simpler, far cheaper, far less scalable.
- Oxylabs and Decodo compete directly on residential proxy networks and per-GB pricing.
- Apify offers a marketplace of ready-made scrapers with its own proxy layer, aimed at developers.
- Zyte is the long-standing scraping-infrastructure competitor, with a similar API-plus-proxy shape.
The Verdict
Bright Data is the biggest thing in this category, and its scale is the argument for it: 400M+ residential IPs across 195 countries, four distinct network types, unblocking and browser infrastructure, scrapers for 600+ sites and prebuilt datasets for 600+ domains. If you are being blocked by sophisticated anti-bot systems, or collecting at a volume where reliability matters more than price, this is the infrastructure the rest of the market is measured against.
The thing to be careful about is the pricing page, and specifically the anchor it sets. Every residential proxy price shown is 50% off, and the banner directly above states the term: “50% OFF Residential Proxies for 3 months”. Nothing is concealed — the standard prices are printed struck through beside each discounted one — but the discounted figures are the large ones, and it is easy to leave the page believing residential bandwidth costs $2.50/GB when the ongoing rate is $5.00. On the top tier that is the difference between roughly $2,000 and $4,000 a month. Plan on the struck-through numbers.
The second decision is commitment versus pay-as-you-go, and the arithmetic here is genuinely counterintuitive. Against PAYG at $4.00/GB, the $499 tier only wins if you use 125 of its 141 GB — 88.5%. The $999 tier needs 75%, and the $1,999 tier only 63%. So the cheapest commitment is the one most likely to waste your money, because it demands near-perfect utilisation. Since pay-as-you-go is available on every proxy type with no commitment, the sensible sequence is obvious: run a month unmetered, measure actual consumption, then commit — if at all.
More broadly, be aware that “what does Bright Data cost” has no answer. Thirteen products are priced in five different units — per 1,000 requests, per GB, per 1,000 records, per IP and per month — and two products that solve the same problem may not be comparable without modelling your own traffic. The Browser API is billed per GB; the Crawl API per 1,000 requests. Pick the product first.
Two things genuinely in the buyer’s favour. The free tiers are real — Unlocker, SERP, Scraper APIs, Scraper Studio, plus a free MCP server and Discover API — which matters because bandwidth consumption is the hardest variable to forecast and the one that decides your bill. And the deposit match of up to $500 stacks with the coupon, so an early $500 deposit can buy roughly $2,000 of standard-rate usage. Use both, but do the measuring before the promotional window closes rather than after.
FAQ
How much does Bright Data cost?
There is no single price — thirteen products are priced separately across five units. Residential proxies start at $8/GB pay-as-you-go at standard rates, falling to $5/GB on a $1,999 monthly commitment. The Unlocker, SERP and Crawl APIs start at $1 per 1,000 requests, Scraper APIs at $0.75 per 1,000 records, Datasets at $250 per 100,000 records, datacenter proxies at $0.90 per IP and ISP proxies at $1.30 per IP. Enterprise services start at $1,500–$2,000 a month.
Are Bright Data’s advertised proxy prices permanent?
No. The prices shown on the residential proxy page — $4.00, $3.50, $3.00 and $2.50 per GB — are 50% off with the coupon RESIGB50, and the site states the discount lasts three months. The standard rates are printed struck through on the same cards: $8, $7, $6 and $5 per GB. Budget the standard rates for month four onward.
Should I commit to a Bright Data monthly plan or use pay-as-you-go?
Measure first. Against pay-as-you-go at $4.00/GB, the $499 tier only breaks even at 125 of its 141 GB — 88.5% utilisation. The $999 tier breaks even at 75% and the $1,999 tier at 63%, so the smallest commitment is the one requiring the most accurate forecasting. Since pay-as-you-go is offered on every proxy type with no commitment, run a month on it, measure real consumption, then decide.
Does Bright Data have a free tier?
Several. The Unlocker API, SERP API, Scraper APIs and Scraper Studio each carry a free tier, and the Bright Data MCP server and Discover API are free outright. Pay-as-you-go is also available across all proxy types — datacenter, residential, ISP and mobile — plus Unlocker, the self-service Web Scraper IDEs and the SERP API, so no commitment is needed to test.
How does Bright Data compare with a no-code scraper?
They solve different problems. A tool like Browse AI gives you a point-and-click robot for a handful of sites and is dramatically cheaper and simpler. Bright Data sells the infrastructure underneath — 400M+ residential IPs, unblocking, browser farms — plus finished datasets on top. Choose the no-code tool if you are monitoring a few pages; choose Bright Data if you are collecting at volume, being actively blocked, or need data for AI training.
Compare Bright Data with other popular tools in the same category.
The quality of their residential proxies is simply better than any other provider. We have tried bright data's proxies against many other services and the success rate with bright data is always higher. Their "unblocker" product is also amazing, it takes a lot of the work that we used to do internally and lets them handle it, letting us spend our time and energy on other things.
When there is an issue (rarely, especially as of late), their public page that displays service outages will say everything is fine when infact their systems are indeed having issues (and thus we go hunting for an error internally when the problem actually is not with us). That being said, even google and AWS are bad about this sort of thing themselves. I'll also reiterate that bright data very rarely has these issues (I can't recall any in the last 6+ months)! The price is also slightly higher than competitors but is absolutely worth it to have a rock solid solution.
Getting the data that we need!
I like how the integration guide made it easy to use Bright Data in my business. Furthermore, when I needed some support, they were very helpful and I've got the missing information fast. Here, I'd like to mention Oxana Novopashina and her team for their outstanding performance. I always received help to deal with all my questions in a quick and professional way. I can only recommend the proxy services, as I never experienced any outages, it does exactly what I'm looking for.
Currently, I don't have anything to add here.
I'm using Bright Data for public data collection. For benefits, I would add easy integration and high-quality proxies.
- Tariff plan "Pay as you go" - Huge list of available countries - Excellent proxy speed - Plugin for Chrome and API - Great support in the person of Alina Pryvalchuk. Helped very quickly solved.
To be honest, I don't even know what to write. Everything is fine.
Сервис помог решить проблему с доступом к заблокированным ресурсам.
Flexibility and easy-of-use of tool to support a wide variety of internal due diligence needs quickly.
Very happy with capabilities - none come to mind.
Supports a wide variety of data collections needs in support of sourcing, deal and portfolio projects.
- Clear and intuitive UI - reasonable pricing - amazing customer support
It would be great if they have a larger pool of IPs, but I know they're working on it. Other than that, all is great.
Using their services for our SaaS products that require dedicated proxies
The support of assistance through BrightData itself. Not only is communication the Key but too, it's the success of working with BrightData.
Nothing. Right now, BirghtData is one of the most reliable services i am currently working with
Data Usage nowadays is extremly high and usually, the most proxy providers within my field of Business do not got a clean/reliable/Stable pool of Proxies. BrightData was able to change that for me
The responsiveness of the staff, and the data included many people we did not previously know about.
There was nothing in particular that we did not find useful with our data.
They provided us with a dataset of profile information from social media. This has allowed us to identify people of interest to us
We like the speed, and the level of support received from the team. Every question we had was resolved very fast. They are also proactive, suggesting optimizations and changes themselves.
The verification process was a bit troublesome. As much as that's initially annoying, it was worth going through.
There aren't many reliable services on the market. The added value is decreasing pricing, ensuring we won't need to switch to another provider when we grow fast.
Account Manager, availability & Scraping possibilities
High Price which is not necessarily bad.
Instagram Scraping for inhouse analytics
We have been looking for a company with the same opportunities as Bright Data and found it for a long time. First of all, we were looking for stable and fast IP addresses. We want to express special gratitude to Alexander Freibert for support, professionalism, and efficiency in resolving any issues, and also thank you for help in technical matters, Ilya. Bright Data solves most of the issues that used to take us a lot of time. The company and its services are developing very quickly, which is good, as we grow along with them.
Perhaps the prices, but the company constantly offers discounts. Maybe the cost of high-quality IPs justifies this. There are also some poorly documented technical features.
The company makes it possible to collect information from various sources very quickly. Of the advantages, I can note: "Proxy Manager" is a convenient tool, as well as "Data Collector," which is currently being developed and will be able to automate some of our functions.
Huge Bright Data fan. Things work exactly as needed -- their basic proxy service is fast & cheap. Their Web Unlocker is not cheap BUT works exactly as advertised and saves tons of development time. Support has been lightning fast to respond to requests, even though I'm a pretty small fish in the grand scheme of things.
Web Unlocker is not cheap but I can't reallllly complain, because it works exactly as advertised and saves a ton of manual development effort. Can't have it both ways! :)
Proxy service for web scraping & their Web Unlocker bypasses all anti-bot / anti-scraping mechanisms that have been thrown at it, so it just works!
We compared a few options for data collection but ended up with Bright Data because we really appreciated the self-serve dashboard.
Sometimes the turnaround is a bit slower, but still generally quite fast (faster than others we compared to).
Quick data collection!
When we first started using Bright Data, it was evident they were monitoring usage levels and despite being on a pay-as-you-go plan, they made recommendations to switch to a plan that ended up saving us money. I respect any company that prioritizes giving their customers more value like that despite it costing them a bit of revenue.
We have been using Bright Data for ~5 months now and haven't had any issues yet. Everything works as expected and our developer has had no concerns with how everything works.
We needed proxies for our online software and this product delivers exactly what we need at a cost-effective price tag. They are reliable which means we have one less thing to worry about.
Quick support assistance. Resolving proxy issues within mentioned period.
Sometimes we get blank pages and proxy error webpages while accessing the sites.
helped in collecting the data for analysis without any proxy issues
1. Brightdata worked with us to demonstrate their proxy service, set up a POC, and collect metrics. 2. They gave us time to establish our feature and worked with us to select the right product for our usage. 3. When a data breach occurred with the proxy manager, their website logs helped us track down the gap quickly. 4. Their billing department work with our billing department to set up an invoice/payment schedule that worked for both companies. 5. Ongoing metrics help manage our monthly usage, and the usage alerts ensure that we don't exceed our caps.
1. The accounting system that generates invoices is constrained due to Brightdata's tax location (Israel). 2. When our data breach occurred, it did take the support team some time (2-3 hrs) to suggest where to look for the logs.
1. Ensuring that scraping sites from our customers and other external websites don't block Inxeption due to scraping their products. 2. A more stable pipeline of refreshed products for our eCommerce website.
Romy was very compentent. THe speed and the quality of service is superb
THe pricing is too high to be able to accept the service without additional approval
Data collection
Stability and high quality of proxy servers. Provides productive work. I liked the Pay as you go policy the most! This is one of the main reasons for choosing your service! Oxana Novopashina very quickly helped to deal with all the subtleties. Great respect.
so far no complaints. the design of the site is complex, of course, in order to quickly find the necessary elements. I would like more payment methods: Webmoney - Wmz crypt usdt bitcoin litecoin and other. I have no other comments so far.
audience parsing - contact details. for use in targeted Instagram ads. Thanks to the stable operation of your proxies. Of course, I profit from satisfied customers. Instagram advertising campaigns.
The quick and qualified compliance service we've ever seen. They book a compliance meeting the next day we joined. The interview was not short but adequate. They approved your account in hours.
Nothing to dislike. Absolutely nothing to dislike. The one of services when we have nothing to dislike. We like everything. Absolutely everything. 100% like for sure.
We use residential IP services and plan to use other services like Data Collection and we will investigate other services from Bright Data and hope they will be usefull for us.
Their unblocker service is top-notch; however, it needs to be used carefully based on the site structure and session management.
It would be nice, if they could support Indian payment modes like Netbanking and the debit card.
We are doing a data-driven analysis to support the evidence-based reporting on some global conflict and international security issues, which requires a large volume of data from various public and private sites. We use Bright data proxies to get up-to-date data for the analysis purpose.
We are using Bright Data for the last 3 years and never faced any issues. My Account Manager is Amit Shankar and he is available 24x7 and just a call away.
There is nothing to dislike when you are getting a prompt response and flawless services.
Bright Data made our product testing easy.
We can filter the requests to do further analysis
There are too many updates that would hinder the daily operation a bit, but not a major issue
We are able to switch IPs based on different use-cases.
Good service and support team. Highly recommend!
Prices for some case is too high for big data (proxy, data collector)
Scraping data from public resources
Bright Data Proxy Manager tool is absolutely amazing and makes it so easy to setup proxy.
Verification Process is a bit complicated for freelancers.
Selenium Testing and SEO tool
I express my gratitude to Brightdata and its experienced specialists, such as Oxana Novopashina, for improving the tools for marketing and market analysis.
Nothing. Everything is ok. There are not problems with registration and using of service
I solved the problem of delegating the task of analyzing the market, identifying competitor prices, and searching for information. Now it takes me 2-3 hours of time instead of 3-4 days as before.
The service works stably without interruption, my company buys a couple of thousand IPs a month and such a reliable partner is very important for us.
You need to specify the domains that will be accessed from the purchased IP
They are ready to provide almost any amount of IP and traffic
- Flexible billing model - Data quality - Comprehensive API - Depth of support provided by Bright Data
Nothing in particular. We've had a few specific requests based on our use case. However, David and the team have gone the "extra mile" to help accommodate.
Bright Data enables us to build Talent solutions leveraging publicly available data.
Bright data has been a great support and an amazing asset to our business. We are using bright data via Multilogin and connection speed, uptime, and security are second to none. Would recommend it to everyone.
The only thing that can be improved is Whitelisting part of IPs. Maybe instead of whitelisting, if the only thing needed to be done is blacklisting, would help a lot. As whenever WiFi restarts or we switch places, whitelisting is needed to be done again.
We are using Brightdata to run digital part of our business smoothly.
Simple to use and great when I need additional IPs
N/A it does what I need it to do. I dont have any issues
When I need to use proxy IPs bright data works great for me!
- Customer Service - Eager to Help . Amit my account manager especially always upfront to help.
-Just sometimes need to call and refresh proxies.
