Bright Data Pros and Cons
- Largest residential proxy pool with broad geographic coverage and strong anti-bot/unlocking technology.
- Broad product suite: proxies (residential, datacenter, ISP), unlocker, scraper, datasets, media pipelines, archive.
- Strong compliance posture and transparent certifications (ISO, SOC2) and ethical sourcing model.
- Official CLI and SDKs, real-time & historical data support, and video/media extraction capabilities.
- Extensive integrations and support/training infrastructure (documentation, webinars, customer support).
- Premium pricing that can be expensive for smaller-scale or low-volume users.
- Complex product suite and pricing; steep learning curve for initial setup.
- Some features (e.g., mobile proxies, certain targeting options) may have limited availability or restrictions.
- No permanent free plan; free trials/credits are limited.
Every price on Bright Data’s residential proxy page is a promotional rate, and the banner above them says how long it lasts: “50% OFF Residential Proxies for 3 months”. The cards show $4.00, $3.50, $3.00 and $2.50 per GB with $8, $7, $6 and $5 struck through beside them. Those struck-through figures are what you pay from month four. Budget the right-hand column, not the left.
- What it is: The largest commercial web data platform — proxy networks, scraping APIs and prebuilt datasets.
- Best for: Teams collecting web data at volume that have outgrown a single scraping tool.
- Pricing: Thirteen separately-priced products; residential proxies from $5/GB at standard rates. Verified August 2026.
- The honest catch: The displayed proxy prices halve for three months only.
What Is Bright Data?
Bright Data is infrastructure rather than an application. Where a tool like Browse AI gives you a robot to point at a site, Bright Data sells the layers underneath — the IP networks, the unblocking, the browser farms — plus finished data on top.
The proxy networks are the foundation: 400M+ rotating residential IPs across 195 countries with free country, state, city, zip and ASN targeting, alongside 1.3M ISP (static residential) and 1.3M datacenter proxies, and a mobile network.
The web access APIs sit above that — an Unlocker API for CAPTCHAs and blocks, a SERP API covering Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo and Yandex, a Crawl API and a Browser API for remote stealth browsers.
The data feeds go further still: Scraper APIs for 600+ websites, a Scraper Studio, prebuilt Datasets from 600+ domains, and a Data Firehose delivering results as collected.
Then there is an AI layer — Search & Extract, an Agent Browser, Data Packages for LLM training, video and audio training data, and a free MCP server. Deep Lookup is in beta.
Bright Data cites 20,000+ customers.

Residential proxies — the flagship product, with the coupon RESIGB50 applied:
| Plan | Promo rate | Standard rate | Monthly | GB included |

The rest of the catalogue, at its published starting rates:
| Product | From |
|---|---|
| Unlocker API (free tier) | $1 / 1k requests |
| Crawl API | $1 / 1k requests |
| SERP API (free tier) | $1 / 1k requests |
| Browser API | $5 / GB |
| Scraper APIs (free tier) | $0.75 / 1k records |
| Scraper Studio (free tier) | $1 / 1k requests |
| Datasets | $250 / 100k records |
| Data Firehose | $0.20 / 1k HTML |

What actually decides your cost:
- The proxy page shows promotional prices throughout, and the promotion is three months long. The site banner reads “Use code RESIGB50 at checkout to get 50% OFF Residential Proxies for 3 months!” and every card carries a “50% OFF” badge with the standard price struck through. This is disclosed rather than hidden — the original figures are printed right there — but a reader who anchors on $2.50/GB will be planning against a rate that becomes $5.00/GB in month four. On the 798 GB tier, that is roughly $1,999 a month becoming close to $4,000.
- Committing needs high utilisation to beat pay-as-you-go, and the smallest commitment needs the most. Against the promotional PAYG rate of $4.00/GB, the $499 tier breaks even at 125 GB of its 141 GB allowance — 88.5% utilisation. The $999 tier breaks even at 250 GB of 332 (75%), and the $1,999 tier at 500 GB of 798 (63%). So the entry commitment is the riskiest: use less than seven-eighths of it and you would have been better off with no commitment at all. Measure a month on pay-as-you-go before signing anything.
- There is no such thing as “the price of Bright Data”. Thirteen products are priced separately, in five different units: per 1,000 requests, per GB, per 1,000 records, per IP, and per month. The Browser API is billed per GB while the Crawl API is per 1,000 requests, so two ways of solving the same problem are not directly comparable without estimating your own traffic shape. Budgeting here means picking the product first and modelling the unit second.
- The free tiers are a genuine on-ramp. The Unlocker API, SERP API, Scraper APIs and Scraper Studio all carry a free tier, and the MCP server and Discover API are free outright. Combined with pay-as-you-go on all proxy types, that means you can validate whether Bright Data solves your problem before committing anything — which matters more than usual here, because the variable that decides your bill (how much bandwidth your scraping actually consumes) is nearly impossible to estimate in advance.
- The deposit match stacks with the coupon. The residential page offers to “match your first deposit dollar for dollar, up to $500”. Combined with 50% off for three months, a first deposit of $500 becomes $1,000 of credit spending at half rate — effectively $2,000 of standard-rate usage for $500. That is a real incentive, and also a reason to be deliberate: front-loading spend into the promotional window is exactly what it is designed to encourage.
- Volume discounting is real but modest. Moving from pay-as-you-go to the largest published tier takes you from $8 to $5 per GB at standard rates — a 37.5% reduction — for a $1,999 monthly commitment. Beyond 1 TB, pricing is custom, and that is where the “unlimited scale, unlimited seats, premium SLA and 99.99% network uptime” language appears.
- The finished-data products are priced for a different buyer entirely. Datasets at $250 per 100,000 records, Retail Insights from $2,000 a month and Managed Data Acquisition from $1,500 a month are not extensions of the proxy business — they are enterprise services with their own floors. If you arrived looking for proxies, ignore them; if you arrived wanting data without building a pipeline, they may be the only relevant part of the catalogue.
- The 141 GB tier’s arithmetic is very slightly off. $499 ÷ 141 GB = $3.539/GB, against the $3.50 shown on the card. A 1.1% rounding in Bright Data’s favour, immaterial in practice but worth noting since the other three tiers reconcile almost exactly ($999 ÷ 332 = $3.009; $1,999 ÷ 798 = $2.505).

Who Should Use Bright Data
- Teams scraping at genuine volume. The proxy network is the largest commercially available.
- Anyone blocked by sophisticated anti-bot systems. Residential IPs and the Unlocker API are the point.
- Buyers who want data, not infrastructure. Prebuilt Datasets cover 600+ domains.
- AI teams needing training data. Video, audio and LLM-ready packages are a distinct product line.
It fits poorly for small or occasional scraping jobs, where a single tool will be far cheaper; for teams needing predictable monthly costs, since almost everything is consumption-priced; and for anyone budgeting from the promotional rates without reading the three-month term.
Honest Pros and Cons
Strengths
- 400M+ residential IPs across 195 countries, with free geo and ASN targeting.
- Free tiers on Unlocker, SERP, Scraper APIs and Scraper Studio, plus a free MCP server.
- Pay-as-you-go on every proxy type — no commitment required to start.
- A genuine 37.5% volume discount from PAYG to the top published tier.
- Prebuilt datasets for teams that want data rather than pipelines.
- AWS Marketplace billing available.
Limitations
- Displayed proxy prices are 50% off for three months only.
- Thirteen products across five pricing units — no single price exists.
- The $499 tier needs 88.5% utilisation to beat pay-as-you-go.
- Bandwidth consumption is hard to forecast, and it drives the bill.
- Enterprise data products start at $1,500–$2,000 a month.
- Above 1 TB, pricing is unpublished.
Bright Data Alternatives and How It Compares
- Browse AI is the no-code alternative for a handful of sites — far simpler, far cheaper, far less scalable.
- Oxylabs and Decodo compete directly on residential proxy networks and per-GB pricing.
- Apify offers a marketplace of ready-made scrapers with its own proxy layer, aimed at developers.
- Zyte is the long-standing scraping-infrastructure competitor, with a similar API-plus-proxy shape.
The Verdict
Bright Data is the biggest thing in this category, and its scale is the argument for it: 400M+ residential IPs across 195 countries, four distinct network types, unblocking and browser infrastructure, scrapers for 600+ sites and prebuilt datasets for 600+ domains. If you are being blocked by sophisticated anti-bot systems, or collecting at a volume where reliability matters more than price, this is the infrastructure the rest of the market is measured against.
The thing to be careful about is the pricing page, and specifically the anchor it sets. Every residential proxy price shown is 50% off, and the banner directly above states the term: “50% OFF Residential Proxies for 3 months”. Nothing is concealed — the standard prices are printed struck through beside each discounted one — but the discounted figures are the large ones, and it is easy to leave the page believing residential bandwidth costs $2.50/GB when the ongoing rate is $5.00. On the top tier that is the difference between roughly $2,000 and $4,000 a month. Plan on the struck-through numbers.
The second decision is commitment versus pay-as-you-go, and the arithmetic here is genuinely counterintuitive. Against PAYG at $4.00/GB, the $499 tier only wins if you use 125 of its 141 GB — 88.5%. The $999 tier needs 75%, and the $1,999 tier only 63%. So the cheapest commitment is the one most likely to waste your money, because it demands near-perfect utilisation. Since pay-as-you-go is available on every proxy type with no commitment, the sensible sequence is obvious: run a month unmetered, measure actual consumption, then commit — if at all.
More broadly, be aware that “what does Bright Data cost” has no answer. Thirteen products are priced in five different units — per 1,000 requests, per GB, per 1,000 records, per IP and per month — and two products that solve the same problem may not be comparable without modelling your own traffic. The Browser API is billed per GB; the Crawl API per 1,000 requests. Pick the product first.
Two things genuinely in the buyer’s favour. The free tiers are real — Unlocker, SERP, Scraper APIs, Scraper Studio, plus a free MCP server and Discover API — which matters because bandwidth consumption is the hardest variable to forecast and the one that decides your bill. And the deposit match of up to $500 stacks with the coupon, so an early $500 deposit can buy roughly $2,000 of standard-rate usage. Use both, but do the measuring before the promotional window closes rather than after.
FAQ
How much does Bright Data cost?
There is no single price — thirteen products are priced separately across five units. Residential proxies start at $8/GB pay-as-you-go at standard rates, falling to $5/GB on a $1,999 monthly commitment. The Unlocker, SERP and Crawl APIs start at $1 per 1,000 requests, Scraper APIs at $0.75 per 1,000 records, Datasets at $250 per 100,000 records, datacenter proxies at $0.90 per IP and ISP proxies at $1.30 per IP. Enterprise services start at $1,500–$2,000 a month.
Are Bright Data’s advertised proxy prices permanent?
No. The prices shown on the residential proxy page — $4.00, $3.50, $3.00 and $2.50 per GB — are 50% off with the coupon RESIGB50, and the site states the discount lasts three months. The standard rates are printed struck through on the same cards: $8, $7, $6 and $5 per GB. Budget the standard rates for month four onward.
Should I commit to a Bright Data monthly plan or use pay-as-you-go?
Measure first. Against pay-as-you-go at $4.00/GB, the $499 tier only breaks even at 125 of its 141 GB — 88.5% utilisation. The $999 tier breaks even at 75% and the $1,999 tier at 63%, so the smallest commitment is the one requiring the most accurate forecasting. Since pay-as-you-go is offered on every proxy type with no commitment, run a month on it, measure real consumption, then decide.
Does Bright Data have a free tier?
Several. The Unlocker API, SERP API, Scraper APIs and Scraper Studio each carry a free tier, and the Bright Data MCP server and Discover API are free outright. Pay-as-you-go is also available across all proxy types — datacenter, residential, ISP and mobile — plus Unlocker, the self-service Web Scraper IDEs and the SERP API, so no commitment is needed to test.
How does Bright Data compare with a no-code scraper?
They solve different problems. A tool like Browse AI gives you a point-and-click robot for a handful of sites and is dramatically cheaper and simpler. Bright Data sells the infrastructure underneath — 400M+ residential IPs, unblocking, browser farms — plus finished datasets on top. Choose the no-code tool if you are monitoring a few pages; choose Bright Data if you are collecting at volume, being actively blocked, or need data for AI training.

Web unlocker. I can't login to Linkedin.
It helped me to find a solution for proxy service. Many thanks Oxana and Irina.
Their system allowed us to get setup quickly scraping websites. There is little concern for bandwidth or API rate limits, which is a big time saver. Their documentation can be a bit scattered, but once you find the right page it is helpful. Sign-up bonuses were great as well.
They will not answer or even acknowledge some questions. If you ask questions about how often proxy requests fail, they ignore it. If you ask more technical questions about scraping, they will often just ask that you sign up for a higher-tier service. Feels a little like they are just trying to sell more expensive services rather than help you sometimes.
Bright data provides us with information we would not have without a proxy service. They give us access to a large host of data sources. With Bright data, we can obtain nearly any publicly available data out there.
Bright Data is the very best in terms of service, features, and the number of available IP addresses.
This is very much a premium service, and the price reflects it. If cost is a significant factor it may be a good idea for some to explore other options as well.
Bright Data provides a proxy layer we use for online data extraction.
Bright Data has solved a lot of the standard issues everyone faces when using proxies to scrape data off the open internet. Their staff is extremely knowledgeable and has been quick and generous when it comes to sharing their expertise to assist in our scraping efforts.
This seems a little silly to require negative feedback. I have none.
Sourcing and managing data center IPs for scraping. Providing a clean interface to request proxied scrapes.
- self serviceability portal - prompt customer support - vendor management relation - dedicated account manager
- nothing at this point in time. it has been very good
- crawling crucial competitive info for Rakuten's businesses - building competitive intel platforms
The dashboard allows us to see our web traffic easily and the interface for setting up IPs is very easy to use. The support center is very quick to respond.

We have regained access to websites that we scrape internally.
Best on the market product: Ultra-fast proxies with high availability which fit most of the use cases. Additinally, they provide quality customer service which makes the whole experience pretty good.
Brightdata gets expensive especially on a bigger scale, discount model could be better designed and bigger clients who are ready to invest more on the long run should be better encouraged.
Sending requests to public endpoints on a huge scale to get user registration data which is then turned into valuable information when preventing fraudelent activities.
The consistency and availability of their proxy services are easily some of the best we've ever used. We also use their proxy manager which allows us to really streamline our use of proxies and minimize the administrative burden of managing them.
This is a costly service compared to other alternatives, which is somewhat justified based on how well and consistently their proxies perform. Further, due to the way their system works, we have had difficulty using the proxies with certain configurations, such as on mobile devices.
We use proxies to provide US-based addresses to our remote employees
The algorithm was very nice. Worked well.
The biggest problem was that I didn't understand the differences between Data set and collector. and it caused problems
We got potential leads to work with in the future.
Proxy services are pretty good, we have been able to use them to our advantage thereby improving our deliveries to the client.

Proxy.
The APIs integration is easy and testing
Some function for set limitation is not working
Can access for the website the restrict for access.
Liked best: - The success rate of Bright Data is above 95% for most of my crawls, including tough to crawl websites like LinkedIn, which is incredible - I love their chrome plugin for easy pick and click crawler setups - Their support is also very friendly and responsive
Disliked: - Their IDE for the development of new crawlers is challenging to use - The UI to retrieve your data is unnecessarily complex - The main dashboard UX needs some information architecture work. Things are placed weirdly throughout the dashboard
We are using Bright Data to scrape datasets from social media websites like Team Blind, competitor websites, and job posts from the career pages of big tech companies like Google.
Can create custom data collectors easly, and the proxy is billed on demand.
The process to buy datasets requires contacting them directly. It would be better to have an automatic way to buy datasets, even better if is also posible to filter and just buy a subset.
Data extraction, proxys
The professional platform has kind staff, great support (Roee and Meir), good quality products/ services, reliable partnership.
Not flexible, only want to have more commitment, typical profit first customer second. Services were down too many times in 2021.
Dynamic global good quality proxies
Reliable set of IP addresses for anonymous web scraping
I've been a light user so nothing that I dislike so far. Works as expected.
Primarily used it for a web-scraping project where I had to collect information from a lot of websites
Makes developers life easy with host of support for different programming languages
Unprofessional in keeping their SLA and customer demands ,mostly unreliable support, account management APIs are mostly non functional
Web scraping solved
What I like the best about bright data is their custom proxy solution. And, of course, the speed is better than other proxy providers. But its no longer providing the support as it should be. There are now more inteneted to earn money instead of taking care of there customers
They signed a contract with me, the limit of contract was that i will spend $3000 every month but i said i want to increase it to $5000. But now when i said i want to lower the contract price they want to charge me higher. Also they did not refunded me the extra credits that i never used.
They solved my problem a year ago but now they started to lack in their services. Also they are not cooperative any more.
