In this Jasper AI review, we’re exploring the features, functionality, and benefits of a popular artificial intelligence writing tool. In recent years, companies have rapidly begun to leverage the benefits of AI for multiple processes and operations.
Around 91.5% of leading businesses say they invest in AI on an ongoing basis. However, studies show the majority of these companies are focused on harnessing AI for cybersecurity, compliance, customer service, and support.
AI writing tools are still a relatively underutilized form of AI service, designed to empower marketing professionals and accelerate the production of high-quality content. Although the AI writing landscape is still quite new, experts say it will grow to a value of $1,363.99 million by 2030.
Jasper AI, previously known as “Jarvis”, is widely regarded as one of the best AI writing tools around. This simple solution aims to help businesses improve their writing, brainstorm ideas, and come up with new content for marketing purposes.
But is Jasper AI really as valuable as it seems? Let’s find out.
Previously known as “Jarvis”, Jasper AI is an online writing tool that leverages artificial intelligence to help users create new content, and improve their existing writing. Jasper can create content automatically, using natural language processing combined with specific inputs.
Using Jasper, business leaders and marketers can create blog posts, ads, social media posts, landing page copy, stories, and news reports within a matter of seconds.
Jasper is widely regarded as one of the best AI writing tools around, with more than 1000 5-star reviews on trusted sites, and endless positive feedback from customers. The solution produces some of the highest quality AI-driven content because it has already been trained by expert marketers and copywriters. The key advantages of Jasper AI include:
Jasper AI was released in 2021 by CEO Dave Rogenmoser, and is backed by the same team responsible for the “Proof” software.
Previously, Jasper AI was known as both Jarvis AI and Conversion.ai. However, it’s managed to maintain an excellent brand reputation, despite a few refreshes over the years. The company has also achieved some phenomenal success in the AI market within a short period.
In November 2022, Jasper AI successfully raised $125 million in Series A funding, giving it a valuation of approximately $1.5 billion today.
Jasper promises to rapidly increase the content output of marketing companies, help them to brainstorm new ideas, and ensure they can write better in every environment. The AI solution is trained to produce high-converting copy, and all of the content produced is plagiarism-free.
One of things we noticed during our Jasper AI review, is that this technology is extremely straightforward to use. Although you will need to deliver specific information to the AI algorithm to ensure you’re producing the right content, there’s plenty of guidance throughout the interface to help you. Once you sign up for a plan with Jasper AI, you can create content in 3 simple steps:
Jasper AI comes with a range of templates for users to choose from, so they can focus on building the right kind of content for each platform. Each template is optimized for a different environment, use-case, or content marketing goal.
You can search through the available templates with a keyword or simply browse through the various options offered by Jasper on the dashboard. Options range from long-form content to AIDA frameworks, Facebook ad posts, and more.
Once you’ve picked an appropriate template for your content in Jasper, the next step is narrowing down the specific information you want the content to cover. This is probably the most complicated part of using Jasper AI. You’ll need to be precise on the subjects and topics you want Jasper to cover, to ensure you’re developing the right information.
You can enter information like specific headlines or sub-headings for a blog post. It’s also worth entering information about the kind of voice you want to portray in your writing, such as “witty” or “persuasive”. Users can also include a content brief, keywords, and any other relevant information they would usually give to a blog or content writer.
Finally, once you’ve entered all of the correct information into the Jasper ecosystem, you can click the “Generate AI content” button. You can also choose how many versions of your content you want Jasper to produce, so you can explore different options to find the right one.
The system will start producing content at an exceptional speed, on the right-hand side of the page. You can then click into this section and start editing your content, using suggestions for grammar and spelling from Jasper to guide you.
Jasper AI has various levels of writing support to offer, depending on the package you choose for your service. “Boss Mode”, is the switch you can use on premium plans to enhance your writing experience, and write up to 5 times faster.
Boss mode speeds up your content pipeline by allowing you to create content 80% produced by AI and 20% edited by you. The solution also integrates with SurferSEO.com, to ensure you can use the right keywords for your content. Plus, it works with Copyscape to check your content for plagiarism.
As an added bonus, Grammarly is also included to help improve your grammar and fix spelling mistakes rapidly. Boss mode includes:
One of the things that made our lives easier during our Jasper AI review, was using AI “recipes”. These are pre-built workflows which already include a series of specific commands designed to help you create content quickly and conveniently. You can create your own recipes, and also access new recipes shared by the Jasper community.
All of the recipes you use will be saved in your “recipes” tab in the Jasper sidebar. You can get started with recipes using the featured list available on Jasper or the suggested options created by the community. Simple click the recipe you want to use, and select “run” to create a new document using the recipe of your choice.
You can also alter your recipes however you like, making changes to keywords, tone of voice, and other valuable points.
One of the biggest concerns companies have about using AI for content generation, is that they won’t get the same excellence from a robot as they would from a human. First, it’s worth noting that Jasper still needs some input from a writer or marketer in order to produce the right content. In this way, it’s not a complete replacement for your marketing team.
However, if you can get the input and framework right, then Jasper can produce relatively high-quality content. The key to success is making sure you read through what’s produced carefully. Let’s look at Jasper’s performance in a few key areas:
As mentioned above, Jasper AI isn’t an alternative for a copywriter or a comprehensive marketing team, but it can be a powerful tool for a range of use cases. Some of the people most likely to benefit from this tool based on our Jasper AI tool include:
Simply put, if you’re looking to automatically create better content at speed, Jasper might be a worthwhile investment. Just don’t expect the tool to do all of the work of content creation for you.
Part of what makes Jasper AI such a compelling choice for today’s business owners is how effective the technology is at integrating with other critical marketing tools. The solution has its own Chrome extension, as well as various integrations for tools like:
Jasper AI is an excellent AI writing assistant, but it’s far from the only solution on the market. There are plenty of other leading tools out there designed to deliver similar functionality. However, Jasper does have an edge in the current market. It offers benefits most other solutions don’t, such as:
All of the amazing functionality you get from Jasper comes with a specific price tag. There are a few different options to choose from. To begin, you’ll be able to create up to 10,000 words of content for free, to see whether you’re really comfortable with the service. Notably, however, you will need to enter your credit card details to do this.
Outside of the free plan, there are three paid packages to choose from. You can swap between monthly or annual payments, depending on your needs. However, annual plans do come with a 17% discount if you’re looking to save some extra cash.
Options include:
Every plan can be customized with an increase in word counts and the number of team members. This means the more content you produce, the more you’re likely to pay.
Ultimately, Jasper is an excellent tool for AI content writing and editing. However, like any online tool, it has a range of pros and cons to consider.
Pros:
Cons:
Ultimately, our Jasper AI review revealed that this tool could be a valuable solution for many companies struggling with content creating. It can help you to come up with unique ideas for content, and accelerate the writing process. However, it’s not the perfect way to eliminate the need for any content writers in your marketing strategy.
Jasper can improve the content produced by your team, and give you more assistance with your overall content writing plan. However, we’re not sure if it will completely eliminate the need for amazing writers in the digital marketing landscape.
I was in a difficult stage of life when I found Jarvis/Jasper. I was struggling to succeed in my efforts at self-employment, struggling to pay my bills, struggling to continue with the difficulties of working toward my ambitious goals. The very first day I tried Jarvis/Jasper, I experienced a profound epiphany. New possibilities had instantly become unlocked. I became capable of more creativity than ever before. I became capable of delivering value in ways I had never even dreamed of. Nearly immediately, this empowerment translated directly into professional success. I gained many new clients. The quality of my work increased significantly. And my rates went up substantially. Jasper filled me with the hope, the confidence, the certainty, that success was possible.
As the marketplace for new GPT tools continues to expand, I worry that Jasper is becoming too expensive for what I'm getting. A year ago, paying a higher price for their premium plan was an obvious decision. Jasper had the best interface and toolset by far, so paying more for the best service was no issue at all. I still think Jasper is the best in terms of ease of use and capabilities. But it is becoming harder and harder for me to justify it's higher cost. Other services are now available at significantly lower price ranges. Although they may not be quite as excellent, I wonder if the cost/benefit ratio is beginning to tilt in a different direction. I find myself wondering: I'm paying 6 times more for Jasper than I would be for this other option, but is Jasper actually 6 times better? I haven't cancelled my Jasper membership. Not yet...
My favorite way to use Jasper is as a "sentence finisher". In the Docs toolset, I have the Compose button set to short compose. As I'm typing out whatever it is that needs to be written, I'll occasionally reach a point where I don't know what I want to say next. Maybe I'm in the middle of a sentence and I can't find the exact right word to finish the phrase. Or I've just finished a sentence or paragraph, and I'm not sure what the next line should be. Instead of dwindling around, waiting for words to arise in my mind, I simply tap ctrl-j (the keybind for the compose button). This causes Jasper to spit out the next 10-20 words. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get something I like. Sometimes it helps because it shows me something I don't want to say, which helps me realize what I do want to say. Jasper has removed that hesitation that occasionally occurs when I write. Anytime my fingers reach a pause, not knowing where to go next, I instinctively tap ctrl-j, and I continue in the flow of writing with ease.
I really enjoy the various templates, especially the content improver and the chat functionality. It makes generating ideas and improving on writing way easier and more efficient!
The chat responses don't display in a neat way all the time if it's producing things like lists, which makes the text a little challenging to extract. Small issue but definitely room for improvement.
It makes idea generation and long form content a faster process, reduces the time spent doing research, and provides a good base to build on for writing. I'm able to produce content 10x faster than before.
I was hugely sceptical when first discovered Jasper. However, in only minutes of trialling Jasper alongside a copywriter. We quickly realised the potential value of a tool like this in our marketing roles.
The user interface. It's cluttered and unclear. The tools are great, but there have been some occasions when it has taken longer to find the suitable template and settings than to produce the work manually.
Speed of producing content for websites.
Jasper gives us a running start on most of the content we create for our clients. As a result, we can create, review and edit a complete short blog on most topics in a matter of minutes. This allows us to enhance our services to our customers by creating content for their websites at a reasonable cost.
Sometimes, Jasper gives us incomplete or grammatically incorrect sentences. We also need to review the output carefully, as there are cases where the information is wrong. When asking for multiple output versions, there are times when Jasper outputs two versions which are too similar.
Without Jasper, we simply would not choose to provide a content service for our website clients. As well, since Jasper is able to provide draft content in different "voices", it allows us to provide our clients with a more diverse set of content.
Jasper has a really functional, well designed interface. It's fast and great for idea generation, coming up with outlines, etc.
In general, it doesn't deliver top-quality content. It needs polishing, checking and manual improvement. This is especially notable in non-English writing (i.e., Spanish).
Fast idea generation, blogpost outlining, first-draft writing.
The templates that help you make content that has a specific solution.
It is expensive when there are other opens that are included in other subscriptions I use.
Japser helps me repurpose my podcast in to a blog post. It also helps me write the description for the podcast and the YouTube episode.
Being able to write freely and then using Jasper to hone in on a tone and phrase things in such a way to actually make sense from your brain is a life saver. Fully recommend.
Getting Jasper to read your thoughts has been tricky. What you have in your head is different from what you end up with. Not to say what you end up with is bad, getting there can be difficult sometimes.
Getting words on paper and then to reorganize them to make sense is huge. Still learning and still discovering what my content needs are that Jasper has been helpful along this journey.
Jasper has amazing templates that make their platform even simpler to use! I also love how you can give the AI writer briefs and information to assist in the writing process to produce more accurate outputs.
I wish Jasper had different plans. I currently use the 100k word plan. I wish I could increase it to 150k or 200k. But the next jump up is to 300k words, which I don't need. I would also really love to see Jasper incorporate a AI detection tool. In the form as another button next to the grammarly and plagiarism checker. That way I could get an AI detection score, and make changes as needed.
It's reducing research time massively! The less time I need to research, the more time I can focus on other things within the bussiness. It's also allowed me to increase my writing output, which allows me to take on more clients.
A complete stack solution, easy to use, their AI always hits the target, constantly updated with new features. The content produced by their AI is always high-level, and it has plenty of features that allow you to tweak the text very fast and without losing quality.
Expensive, and it lacks an App to install in the System (they only have a Chrome extension, but I use apps instead of web services). I want their chat to be reachable as a standalone service: there are too many steps to reach this feature, too many when you want a quick answer to a question.
It suggests you compelling titles and complete outlines. It allows me to write my newsletter very fast: I produce the same content in less than half the time. It helped me to write two books in less than two months. These features help me reduce the cognitive load, leaving more time to think.
Jasper has helped us deliver more content in a shorter amount of time without having to hire more staff. It has been a great addition to our marketing and operations teams.
I wish there were more social templates.
Helping us develop more content quicker.
Jasper has been an amazing tool for our agency. It makes simple but tedious things like drafting social media posts, ad copy, meta descriptions, and blog titles so easy. It's helped my team reduce time spent on manual tasks and freed up more time for creative thinking.
I don't love the new blog post workflow. I also wish there was a template just for creating blog/article titles specifically. I also don't find the title suggestions adequately integrate keywords using best practices.
It's helped us scale up our content creation practices and reduce time spent on manual writing tasks. Especially helpful for simple things like drafting social media posts, drafting variations of ad copy for testing, and creating simple blog posts.
Boss Mode is amazing because you can simply ask it to do things similar to Chat GPT; however, it seems to do a better job for now. I like the service for creative blocks or when I just need a start on a topic and I can add and manipulate as I go along. It's great to create content quickly that is probably already very good and needs little tweaks and refinement.
The cost is a little high - I wish it was more affordable and also was more current covering things that have happened more recently. Say a couple months ago... I also think that the blog post template works well but if you're doing podcast content it would be better if you could feed in your own content and it learns your style and allows you to be more conversational. The written content doesn't come out natural on podcasts so you have to do a lot of the work yourself with a couple re-writes here and there.
Writting blog content for my website and allowing me to re-write content once I have figured out the original idea or content. I would say it also helps when I have writers block.
Jasper had a nice selection of prompts from Facebook Posts to Blog posts.
The quality of Jasper's output was slightly lacking, especially compared to other AI services like ChatGPT
Jasper allowed me to create social marketing copy and blog posts for my clients across a variety of industries, as well as store those outputs for future use. I like the ability to choose the number of outputs per prompt, as well as earn more credits through sharing or video training.
It's useful to put in a sentence or paragraph of writing and to have the AI give an alternative version and get ideas on better sentence structure or words
It is AI, so sometimes the suggestions don't make sense with my brand
Writers block
Describing our product's features and benefits can get a little too technical and dry. By running our content through Jasper we've been able to make our content more relatable and appealing to potential buyers.
There is definitely a learning curve to getting jasper to work how you want. One needs to create the right prompt. It helps to know where to be specific and where to allow Jasper to do its thing. It would be nice if there were more tutorials and help in the area of best practices when creating prompts. Would save some time in trial and error.
In the past, our content was very technical and dry. Our writers would get bogged down by data and research findings. Jasper has allowed us to take that same content, data and all, and create a narrative about our product that is more appealing and relatable. We've also used Jasper to come up with subject lines for our emails. Since using Jasper our open rates are roughly 10% higher than before.
