The only one thing I dislike is of course pricing! ;)
In the case of e-commerce sales platforms, we have the ability to track actual data about users who enter these platforms. Thanks to this, we can compare sales platforms.
The best thing about Similarweb is the ease of use of this tool. If you are a numbers person, you can get very detailed information, but if you prefer charts, the tool also gives you that option.
Similarweb's greatest weakness is its greatest strength, which is the complexity of the tool. You can monitor so many things that it is sometimes difficult to find what you are looking for at first.
Similarweb gives me insight into past and current market trends. It also provides me with an additional source of information to summarise my activities in the digital world.
Being able to see top affiliate partners being referred to our competitors is very valuable. In addition, it's a great tool to discover adnetworks not only in the US but across the world
There are lots of addons which cost more. The ability to add additional geos at no extra cost would be appreciated.
- Discovering new partnerships with affilates/ ad networks. - Seeing how we rank to our competitors. - Seasonal changes across multiple industries
What I found most helpful about Similarweb, after working with it for almost a year now, is the easy navigation between the different pages and the insights you can gain and use for a variety of research purposes.
Limited coverage: Similarweb may not track data for all websites, especially smaller or less popular ones. This means that its data may not be representative of the entire web.
Similarweb helps me a lot when I run competitors analysis as well as understanding website traffic. It helps me identify areas where my given companies are lagging behind and opportunities for improvement.
Comparing competitor website traffic by creating different segments. The information at a channel level is very helpful in building strategies.
There is no easy way to create segment in SimilarWeb. It has to be done each time and is a time consuming activity.
SimilarWeb is helping us understand our online presence amongst the competitors as well as to compare the performance against our competitors. The data helps us design our SEO strategy.
Similarweb is a reliable way to collect engagement and audience demographic data and effortlessly share it with our CRM.
No real complaints. Well, the contact research tool could have been better.
We need data on publisher visitor engagement and visitor demographics. It provides that information as expected an extremely usable way.
The website traffic feature is a must-have for us. Also, Similarweb has the most intuitive tool to prospect based on industry. The latest update even suggests you similar industries you might have missed out on your manual search.
I'd appreciate it if we could have better matches with regard to direct competitors of companies we're looking into. If you know you can cater to a specific entity, it makes sense to try and find out their direct competitors because most likely, they'll have the same needs.
SimilarWeb helps us to better identify companies that match our ICP. Their advanced filters and extensive global database allow us to always have a fresh base of accounts to prospect.
By far the most thorough data set out there for the purposes of understanding how people browse the web. As someone who works in digital marketing strategy, it is an extremely valuable resource for understanding how my clients benchmark against the industry, what their competitors are doing, researching new opportunities and providing insights that simply aren't available anywhere else. The UI is simple and reliable, there are always new features being released and the customer support we receive is very strong (with regular training sessions being offered to our agency).
My only complaint is that some of the media spend data is innaccurate and really shouldn't be trusted. I understand that this is extremely hard to model, and honestly think they should just remove this section as I've seen colleagues lose trust in the entire tool because of the innaccuracy of this data.
Understanding how our clients are performing compared to their industry, understanding industry trends overall, and getting insights and providing recommendations based on what competitors are doing (e.g. search terms they show for, distribution of channels etc.).
Setup was easy and I was able to start finding actionable data about my site and my competition within minutes of getting into my account.
When comparing my company to the competition, many reports show data at the industry level, when I would like that same report to show each company in the industry's data. You can only do so by exporting the data and creating reports in Excel or another program.
Understanding how our company is trending vs the competitor companies individually as well as an industry vertical. Being able to see which websites are producing traffic and for which of our competitors is quite helpful.
UI is easy to use, covers most of the publishers.
It shou;d show text and video metrix separately.
Its helping with competitor's insights on section pages.
Similarweb allows you to gain a competitive advantage by providing you with detailed information about your competitors' online activities, including their website traffic, search engine rankings, social media presence, and advertising campaigns. This information can be used to optimize your own online marketing strategies.
It can be overwhelming or difficult to use for users who are not familiar with digital market intelligence tools. Similarweb provides a wide range of features and data points, which can be overwhelming for users who are new to the platform or who do not have a strong background in online marketing or analytics.
As a Risk Manager for a payments company, Similarweb can be used to monitor incoming and outgoing traffic to detect any potential involvement with countries that are listed by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
I like that the product is a complete suite of data that is more or the same as our accurate internal data. The interior features many which work for me and my team. I am particularly interested in a full-stack vp of marketing.
I wish there were a pre-done dashboard for comparison, especially looking at micro-segments vs. merely having a suite to mine data. I want to do competitive analysis simply by pressing a button. Having to do things manually is a bit challenging and time consuming. Being unable to analyse folders is also a challenge with SW.
Competitive analysis in a competitive industry gives me a reasonably accurate reflection. That's the most effective way to analyze my competitors, but it does better with a few pre-done templates for analysis without all the manual stuff.
There are not many digital tools for tracking, especially in the field of search (keywords). Everyone can easily find out how the brand performs among competitors.
I'm waiting for further development, mainly apps and SMART TV as a part of the universe. As a consequence, currently, Similarweb covers only a part of the market. I'm working for video industry so every screen is very relevant.
Similarweb is very helpful in teaching how to use and interpret data. Additionally, Similarweb is improving its market intelligence giving a wide range of reports, analyses, webinars etc.
Getting info if I should reach out to a company or not
The info is never accurate so it's always far away from the reality.
Not sure, but I am benefiting from it in a way for me to know if I could reach out to a company or not if it's big enough for me.
Hands down competitor analysis. It's worth the price to have a clear picture of what your competitors and your industry are doing. Keeps us informed on what trends are emerging and how to stay ahead of the curve.
We use both SEMRush and Similarweb. We have fully transferred our workflow to Similarweb. The hands on training has been great but we still need to find time to make the full transition.

We were searching for an easy-to-use tool that would assist us in assessing the competitive landscape of our business in terms of activities - Traffic volumes, digital marketing, social media, etc. Also very good for paid search campaign development. The team has found the tool to be very beneficial and insightful.
We wish we were able to dive a little deeper into some of the metrics.

SImilarweb helps us fill gaps in understanding of the changes in traffic trends and content preferences of users across the industry and our competition groups.
The best feature of Similarweb is being able to deep dive into competitors and how they are performing across different marketing channels. It gives a unique insight that is really helpful in measuring and laying out the landscape.
It's hard to find anything to dislike about this tool, but there are some features that haven't been fully developed to include both mobile and desktop traffic so a user is forced to analyze them separately, whereas other features offer a view of aggregate (both desktop and mobile combined).
Similarweb is solving many problems including but not limited to analyzing a web properties search visibility, comparing and contrasting competitor performance, and benchmarking industry performance online.
