Compare Skylum Luminar Neo with other popular tools in the same category.
Simple and easy to use software. It may not be able to do everything, compare to photoshop, but good enough for most work. Fast support.
Removal tool AI could be better. It can recognize things in the picture, why not let user select things to remove
Luminar Neo allow me to adjust simple things very fast without having to do all the tedious selection process manually.
Very easy to use and get started. A few quick toggles here and there and photos are literally transformed. I like that I don't have to try and get the perfect photos anymore - I ensure my photos are not blurry and have sufficient light - that's it. Everything else is modified/fixed on Luminar. Features are great and can tweak a lot of aspects of the photo including skin imperfections, light reflections, etc. Their support team is great by the way and are quick to respond even for queries that may not exactly be linked to their software. I have a secondary laptop that initially did not have the latest graphics driver to support Luminar. Lisa from their support team figured this out and pointed me in the right direction to get my laptop to be compatible with the software. This effort is what prompted me to take the time to give this review. My previous interactions with their support team have all been great as well.
Nothing to dislike per se, but need to learn all the features soon to ensure I completely utilise the software.
Photo editing software that's not complicated.
After I contacted Luminar they analysed the problem and helped me to solve it.
After my problem is solved, I'm happy. It's a product that is constantly improved. This involves hickups. But these are unavoidable in my opinion!
Luminar Neo helps me to automaticaly improve my photos. I use it in my workflow: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom > Topaz Photo AI > Luminar Neo. I make series of photos for my customers, this workflow allows me to quickly edit series of 150-250 photos. I can do the last two steps unattended, Which makes my time more efficient.
I loved the sky replaced ment feature and the many presets that provide a great starting point for my manual photo dits.
Neo can be a little slow at times so is best with a powerful PC>
The images taken with my camera do not always look great. Luminar Neo can make a good photograph excellent. It's AI features can transform an ordinary phot into art.
Luminar is excellent photo editing software. Luminar can be integrated with other softwares giving user a great experience and overall improvement in performance.
Nothing to dislike about the software as it is growing day by day with improved features
Luminar helps to build the diagram, edit the existing photos as well as personal use of this software is amazing
- very stright foward work flow - Many options to change styles / presets - Artificial Intelicenge (smart) tools
- sometimes can be a little slow - interface could be better.
- quick photo editing - advanced colour change / exposure adjustments
generated options allow easy to make backgrounds and other benefits
lack of community plug ins like photoshop
the ease of use and the ability to create some ai generated stuff
The simplicity and drag settings! It's very easy to understand and you can see the changes right on!
Presets can be added on standard than just as upsell!
Saving time and money in many ways! Not have to spend hours figuring out tools in PS or hiring someone!
Luminar is easily my favourite photo editing software. Effects that are hard to get right in other photo editing software and even basic adjustments are made so easy with Luminar. Every effect/adjustment you could need to get the most of your photographs are all easily reached and in view instantly. I love the slider for each effect/adjustment so I can tweak everything until it is perfect. The sky replacement feature is next-level. Yes, other software can do it, but not with the same results I have achieved with Luminar. Luminar will always be my choice for ease of use & pure speed!
The one complaint I have with Luminar is the Sky Replacement feature could still use some work. While I believe it is still ahead of the competition overall, when working with complex scenes such as tree branches/leaves or a hazy horizon, the result leaves a lot to be desired. In these complex scenes, white halos are left around the leaves and branches where the software could not tell what was sky and what was not.
Luminar makes it trivial to turn a good photo into a jaw-dropping photo. This means less time spent trying to make an effect look perfect as it is already done for me. With Luminar, I can get 10 photos looking perfect where I could previously only do about 3 with other software. The saying goes "Time is Money" and in this case, it couldn't be more true.
It's super easy to use, doesn't require any specific skill . Just few clicks to make your raw images looks cool.
Everything is fine, just the processing time for the effects can be improve a but faster.
It helps to make a last minute change in promotional base images for social media posts.
its variety of options in editing like filters, templates, and all the different tools.
sometimes it takes too much of loading time to apply one filter on a picture and then to display it.
it is very helpful in editing all the types if pictures in my gallery, i often use it to edit pictures to put on social media.
Easy to use various commands, time efficient design , can analyze designs properly, helpful to use as a prototype tool of a desired components or device
Nothing in specific , require high speed of internet otherwise it gets started to lag behind or works slowly.so this the only problem I have faced
Designing various industrial components, their assemblies, also using as a prototype of desired component to analyze it for its application to improve product efficiency
I like that my amateur photos can be taken to a professional level by using the AI-based editing tools offered by this software.
The loading times for Luminar can take long. If you are in a creative rush or tight deadline, this can be a negative factor.
With Luminar, I'm solving the problem of creating content that looks more professional and stands out from the crowd.
Luminar is the most powerful "Artificial Intelligence" photo editing software "SO FAR" because... - It makes the photo editing processes done easier and faster + Getting amazing results - It includes massive Ai photo editing tools like "Sky Replacement" it’s a very smart - It includes very smart Ai photo editing tools for portrait pictures "for humans" - It includes a lot of amazing ready to use "Templates" which save time in the photo editing process - It provides 6 cool & important exporting formats "including export to photoshop"
Luminar is an amazing Ai photo editing tool "that's right!" but there are some things I don't like about it... Like - It takes a big size of ram - The export process takes some time "It’s not very quick" - The exported "edited image" become bigger than the original "in size MB" and this is noticeable!
Luminar saves me a lot of time and effort in removing the background from my clients' photos, Luminar can do that very quickly and accurately using the Sky Ai tool, I can use this tool to do a lot of edits on my clients' photos "not just changing the sky"... Also, Luminar helps me to edit the raw images of some products of my clients "it’s faster than photoshop" this is due to the artificial intelligence that exists in many tools in Luminar
Luminar is easy to use. As a photography enthusiast, I don't necessarily want to spend a lot of my time learning how to edit photos. I do have Photoshop but at time I feel I can get the results I want quicker and easier when using Luminar. I have Luminar 4 and Luminar AI.
It can be clunky and slow and I still prefer the filing & saving system in Photoshop.
Split toning, dodge & burn, background replacement is all just easier in Luminar
Quick presets for product and food photos, very intuitive auto-adjustments
It's almost perfect for its purpose, I wish it had a dedicated feature for working with white background
Luminar is great for quick editing needs for everyday marketing purposes. If photos are taken properly, quick adjustment presets allow you to reach almost high-end photo looks
1. luminar is very user friendly and has easy shortcut keys making it very easy and simple to use 2. editing photos comes with a number of different looks that can be applied while editing the photos
1. it does not have many filters to edit the photos 2. it's structure does not allow you to make corrections on the photo a lot faster 3.user interface is very different if we compare older versions with new version
1. using the brushes and radial mask/gradient mask which will allow the photos to have many different effects 2. the shortcut keys is very effective and can be used to highlight any photo
I love the ability to edit photos and create amazing sky background changes to landscape photos.
That some functions dont let you use them when a face or object that is needed to edit or make a change is not present. I also find the Eraser tool and removal tool hard to use.
I am able to edit photos more efficiently because the built in tools are quick and using the artificial intelligence options it does the work for me. This saves so much time when working with many file edits.
Background replacementis easy and sun rays are great.
Relatively slow processing speeds compared to Photoshop AI, Lightroom, etc...
Quick background replacements.
I tried for one month an was sold on it, so I took the 2 yr-offer they have on sale right now. As a freelance photographer, I loved Luminar Neo for its simple design and AI-powered enhacnements. I loved using it to replace they sky and portrait retouching for wedding photoshoots. Overall, the editing was much faster and simpler than industry leaders like Lightroom.
The 'Remove Powerlines' feature under the Erase tool is not always accurate, so sometimes I had to resort to Photoshop. It would also be great to have more options for filtering photos (e.g by camera, lens, and exposure values)
Luminar Neo's Layers feature allows me to add creative overlays to my photos, giving them an interesting look. The Body AI tool also speeds up intensive retouching edits to photos , such as slimming body parts or changing dress colors. These features are benefiting me as a wedding photographer by saving time, allowing for more creative experimentation, and making it easier to organize my photos.
I like the Sky Replacement feature which adds a pop to skies in photos. It makes editing sky a breeze.
I'd like more text formatting tools and editing tools are hidden behind a lot of clicking
Editing photos with the precision of AI. Eliminating grueling editing workflows
It have a lot of features make me finish my artwork easily and professionally and I hope to be integrating with Behance
It's difficult a little bit to use it for a first time and it's subscribing is high for students
It's solves ng the high resolution editing for photos that needs increase the quality in details and it's for nd a solution for fixing the photos colors whitout pixels damage
AI portrait enhancement, save a lot of time on details adjustment compared to Photoshop
Lack of fine tuning parameter compared to other photo editing app.
Save time on batch process portraits
Editing features are useful and friendly
Performance issues sometime while using on mobile devices (iOS in my case)
Media editing is a big hassle and requirement these days so it fits on my requirements
Change the background in one click with best quality
Some of tools needs to add professional editing parameters
Change background of pics and fast editing to pics
Excellent photo editing capabilities, good price
Subpar performance on Windows machines, you need to wait
I'm using the latest Luminar AI. It's an excellent software to edit images, apply various effect, and the likes, it does help you if you want to edit your pics at a professional level or even just if you want to impress your friends or your Instagram followers. It's a great software for purposes like posting images to a blog, or having fun with your vacation photos. A big plus is that it's available as a one-off payment, opposed to all today's subscriptions which I'm trying to eliminate as we all have too many of them. Unfortunately, the performance on Windows machine is subpar. I'm using a Samsung high-end notebook with 16GB of RAM, but the software is terribly slow in pretty much everything, especially on exporting photos, but at least you can have a sandwich while you wait for the export to be completed. I've read on the Luminar community forums that on Mac, the performance is much better, especially on the machines with the new Apple M1 chip, but as I'm a Windows user, I can't really confirm/deny this. It's certainly worth a try, but you need to be patient. I'm always short on time and sometimes it gets me frustrated with its slowness, but in general, I think it's a very good software and I haven't found a better product yet which is not Adobe Lightroom, which is however too costy for my use (amateur). For a pro, it's probably better to stick with Adobe products, they are more costy, but they work better, at least on Windows.

Luminar has the features that I like which is its user interface which is user friendly and I'm able to customize it to my preference and also according to easy accesibility to my favourite tools. One preset whereby I'm able to fine tune photos easily using already made presets that can bring a big difference to the photos. A wide variety of formats are supported by this product whereby I'm able to get my raw photos in different formats and without conversions I'm able to work easily and quickly.
It requires a lot of storage so that it requires a very powerful processing computer with a lot of RAM.
Luminar's one preset makes work easier and faster. It is very easy to bring out the best of a picture and it saves time.
The interface is very user-friendly. It makes photo editing very easy and fast for unskilled users . AI feature is also quite helpful. It is the savior for beginners like me. it has a lot to offer than anyone needs for basic oprations. as a amature I would definitely recommend my colleaues to use this.
Everything is okay but sometimes I find the eraser tool is hard to use. Mobile version should be there. It seems to use a lot your computer memory. somtimes the software is also sluggish and lacks responsiveness, so it takes a few seconds to perform required command every time you change anything. Definitely this increases project time.
I can edit photos faster, which in turn saves time. Luminar is the complete package, so one doesn't need other software to crop, shade & render . It is pretty helpful for portraits and landscapes. also, it plays a vital role in wedding photography
