Compare Storyblok with other popular tools in the same category.
With the Visual Editor, I can immediately see my changes live, which is fun. The components of a page can be moved with ease. The individualization of each component is especially great.
At the moment I haven't found a way to lock components. I want to populate a component with content and then use it more often. Currently I do this by copying, which is a bit tedious.
The headless cms can be easily connected to javascript frameworks using ready-made code examples. Furthermore, the live view in the visual editor is very helpful, because you can immediately see the changes.
Having all projects managed from one place is so easy now with Storyblok. You can easily use Storyblok for all platforms that you need (web: vue, angular ... mobile) in a very easy way. Getting data is so easy.
Once when you start to use Storyblok it’s easy and fast. In my opinion, pricing is probably expensive for the start but in comparison to others, it's still cheaper. But once when you start using it you can check partner benefits and becoming a partner is probably the best option.
Storyblok solves problems with API Content Delivery. Hosting Images on CDN is also one great benefit. Also preview of your work in StoryBlok works great and you can realtime check your work.
Ease to use and performance is great. Especially that there is a visual editor makes integrated and using the platform easy for non-technical users. Feature set is very complete and the API first approach allows easy customisation and adding of functionality. It's also great to have a growing network of partners, that can help with integration - so that it is possible to really focus on UI/UX and be assured that backend/performance/process are just doing what they should do.
They are not as well known as wordpress or other older systems, so there are still less people familiar with their system.
Very performant and clean site, complete separation frontend / backend, flexibility to change UI/UX but have a scalable system in the backend, product that non-technical editors and writers can work with.
Our customers love the CMS and we love the backend. The CMS is clean, well-designed and intuitive and gives the user a real-time preview of the implemented content. From the backend perspective, it is great that existing components are reusable and easy to duplicate and move between various pages. Overall it is easy to navigate and easy to get used to.
The pricing model could be updated. A lot of our clients are used to a free-of-charge CMS like Wordpress and sometimes it is hard to explain, why not all are free. However, when stating the benefits, most of them convert and never look back.
Obviously creating beautiful, snappy websites that are easy to use for the developer, the customer and the end-user. The main benefit is the customizable CMS and the overall speed performance.
What sets Storyblok apart from anything out there, is the ability to have a true data hierarchy, most headless content management systems lack this ability giving you data in a flat data structure. Not everyone is running a simple blog and Storyblok understands that, so they provide us with the ability to structure our stories in the way we want which is extremely powerful.
I think that Storyblok could benefit from having tooling to manage stories across spaces, we have several spaces which correspond to different environments within our infrastructure and moving stories from one space to another as well as getting components copied over is a manual task via MAPI.
Storyblok allows us to quickly push our marketing landers without the need for developer interaction, so our developers can focus on making new components while content managers focus on creating stories.
The side-by-side Preview within the CMS is awesome and unique in the HeadlessCMS space yet - and the UI is nice and clean. The flexibility to configure and build my content-bloks directly in the CMS allows me, and most importantly my design/pm colleagues, to build almost anything.
Depending on the Framework you are using, the setup isn't that self-explanatory or documented well. I'm still struggling with getting the Preview-Mode in Next.js to work. If you add a link field within a blok, you need to add a separate field for the link-target to set with. Additionally, the links delivered within the Content-Delivery-API are quite hard to use as you need to use the property "cached_link" (the other property is always empty) and be sure to add a slash at the beginning (sometimes) when using as relative links.
No more patching, manually updating and hosting of a CMS-Software. A lot of work can already be done by non-development people, by building the Elements (bloks) directly in the CMS. Flexibility to use with whatever Framework/Technology I want to
Storyblok brings modularity, easy-to-use admin UI and clean API (rest/graphql). Storyblok stands out from the rest of the products with its page preview feature. As you change your content, you see rendered page preview instantly. I also enjoy how easy it's to add localizations and consume that content via API. Another strong point is the ability to extend admin UI by adding your custom plugins/field types.
Storyblok being a SAAS product, your content is stored in the cloud. It might be tricky to maintain a full backup of your content. Pricing might also grow if you want all the features and have lots of CMS users.
We saved development time which would be required if we wrote a content management system from scratch. Adding fields, changing structure is effortless compared to other solutions where you need to manage database migrations.
The integrated visual editor that makes content editing very easy.
The richtext editor is partially improvable.
You can easily and flexibly implement your own ideas about how a website can be edited.
The simplicity, I have no coding knowledge or developer skills and yet I find Storyblok so easy to use and well laid out. As a lay person I can find exactly what I'm looking for with ease, the search features, the drag and drop functionality - it all makes for a great fuss-free experience. I also love that I'm able to make changes that I can see on-page in real time, and save these changes, before publishing them in one smooth update once I've finished. The fact that i can copy and paste blocks and duplicate them too - fantastically easy!
I have struggled to move assets into folders once I have uploaded them. If i am uploading new assets I can choose a folder, but cannot seem to do this retrospectively.
Storyblok has improved the security of our headless website compared to the Wordpress CMS we used to use which constantly required updates. Our website is very new so I have no documented performance analytics just yet but i have noticed its already driving lots of enquiries and capturing lots of customer info in our forms.
I like storyblok because it's just great.Storyblok is very user friendly and a very reliable software. It helps me to build pages with just a few clicks which I find easy to perform. I can also customise every component according to my needs.
I have nothing to dislike about storyblok because it really satisfies all my needs. All relevant information has been put in one place.
As a developer, storyblok provides us with all the flexible we need to build reliable and fast websites.Storyblok has also helped us to deliver great experiences.
