The Upwork is best because it will take only 20% from the first 500$ you have to earn from a particular client, then the next 500$ to 10000$ will charge 10% and after that, it will only charge 5%. and it is totally reliable fees. They give 10 free connections each month and give 10 connections each time when your proposal is accepted by clients. it provide tracker and hourly contracts which is not available on other platforms.
Connects are costly but if you are earning enough from Freelancing then you can afford it. As a beginner, it might be costly to buy 1 connection at 10 rupees, because some jobs require 6 connections.
Upwork takes 14 days for clearance of the amount but we can withdraw it immediately to the bank account without any third party. and it takes very less time. Nowadays we have heard some cases related to bank fraud but not sure if it's 100% true or not. because I never face the issue of payments or withdrawals.

Being from South Africa, hourly rates are more expensive compared to local (South African) people. So you need to adjust your budget a bit.

Very competitive, so sometimes cheap and less worthy freelancers get the contract over expensive and more worthy guys. Upwork should have an evaluation system for freelancers. I still need to go through profiles, read all feedbacks and figure out if this freelancer will suit my job or not.
We can see multiple skills and choose from them, which will suit our job. We have enough control over the workload. We don't need to hire a permanent resource for just a part of job and that too in our agreed/required budget limits.
Free to choose the projects. Can say no to the task that is not interesting or no learning involved. Very good platform to get reputed international clients. It is a good platform for clients as well. Sometimes the task is completed at a fraction of the price that would otherwise be required to be paid if done in another way. You can find freelancers with almost every skill here. Upwork customer care is great. Your problem is usually solved instantly.
I like everything. There is nothing here that I dislike. But can be still better if there are some positive changes in the feedback system. Usually, a contractor is reluctant to accept a contract from a new client. Also, so that clients and contractors can communicate via mobile, it would be great if the calling facility is provided in the app itself.
I am getting a lot of new clients on Upwork. It has made the task of getting new work very easy. I need not do any marketing or advertising to get new projects. Also, the app is very good. I can go through new contracts or reply to invites when I am outside.
