WPEngine offers extremely fast-loading Managed WordPress hosting and makes it very easy to enhance speed with their variety of included tools.
I don't like the traffic limiting. Although it hasn't been a problem yet, I just have a philosophical difference in opinion.
When I was using a different host, my site speeds were topping out at 3 seconds. I wanted to get faster. WPEngine has allowed me to have a much faster initial load time, as well as offers features that help me go further.
I love the auto backups, the staging area and the support. All are very easy to work with. I have been working with word press since version 1 something. WP Engine saves me a ton of time. I have also never had an issue with security. I have used and still use other hosts but will switch them all to WP Engine when I can. The interface is easy to work with and tech support has always gone above and beyond to figure out any issues.
The Plugin restrictions are a minor inconvenience. I understand the purpose and have to agree.
I am operating an E-commerce site on WP Engine.
There are two things I really like. One is the absolute reliability of the hosting. There has been only one short downtime since I switched from one of the bigger low costing hosting options that was plagued with down times. The other thing I like is the reliability of the tech support. Compared to the other host, it is like going from a Ugo to a Tesla.
I wish it cost less just like I wish a Tesla was affordable...oh well.
I am trying to expand my reach and monetize my content. Having a reliable hosting experience is obviously foundational to that.
There are so many pieces to proper hosting and WP Engine has them all... Speed, SSL security, support, backups, staging, etc.
There isn't any one thing that stands out as something that I dislike as I have been very satisfied having built and designed plenty of websites on this platform to date.
When providing Web Design services there are some key things that are important and speed and security and are becoming more inseparable from the overall user experience.
You Don't have to think about speed and security of your website. WP engine takes care of Backups, looking after speed or plugin issues. And their service team is very helpful.
Their service is premium, but their pricing as well!
I am using WP Engine for my Website hosting a podcast as well as for my membership sites.
WP Engine has stellar customer service. As someone who works all hours, having 24/7 chat support was a HUGE selling point for me. Now, after a few months of service, I can say that their 24/7 support is simply amazing. There's never a wait time more than a few minutes and the support staff is always helpful.
SSL implementation can cause issues when added after launch, but the support staff is always quick to help.
Since beginning with WP Engine, we have begun closing our accounts with all other hosting providers. As a WordPress consultant and WordPress design agency, we are blown away by the understanding of the content management system, as well as the level of support given. We've also realized how great the uptime is with WP Engine. After running a test across other WordPress installations on other hosting providers, WP Engine blew the competition away. After 2 months, ALL WP Engine sites had 100% uptime! Nobody came close.
I really appreciate how WPE console allows me to review and modify all my client accounts from one easy to use control panel. It takes a bit to make the jump from cpanels, but well worth it! Secondly, it is really nice to know that any one of their support people you talk to know more about WordPress than you do!
Their documentation and it's availability/indexing could use some work. Often I have to bug a tech for something that should be easy to find in a KB of some sort.
I manage the hosting accounts for several large WordPress sites and it is great to know that WPE has my back from a hosting standpoint. I would say the biggest benefit I have seen as a small agency is that I don't have to employ an Apache/Hosting guy. WPE handles all of that for me.
I have worked with dozens of hosting providers and WP Engine has been the best to work with by far. The hosting has been reliable, with little-to-no downtime. Any issues that I do experience are handled quickly with fast responses from the support team. Most of all, I appreciate that WP Engine has streamlined the processes that I routinely perform, like pulling a staging site, pushing a site live, spinning off a new site and importing from another WordPress install. What used to take me hours, now takes me only minutes; giving me more time to focus on my clients.
There's nothing about WP Engine that I dislike.
WP Engine makes hosting and managing WordPress sites extremely efficient, allowing me to focus more time on my clients' digital marketing and less on their hosting administration.
WP Engine's admin management is organized intuitively and automatically takes care of many of the issues that typically take marginal to extensive time and effort to solve on other platforms such as updates, migration and formatting. The hosting services, propagation and and migration have been virtually flawless. The WP Engine support is exceptional with regards to accuracy and responsiveness.
There are few if any negative aspects to the WP Engine platform. As the service grows it can sometimes be a chore to find an "available" development URL in the character count allowed, but this is typically very easy to solve with an alternate URL. There could be an additional service plan between the 10 site license and the 25 site license, or able to incrementally allow single site licenses to be added to bulk packages.
WP Engine allows for transferrable and non-transferrable development sites that are say to access by clients for approval and surprisingly easy to migrate to other client hosting services or simply pushing live with WP Engine hosting using the base domain.
It's hard to pick just one thing I like best, since WP Engine is packed with features, but if I could pick one thing it is their amazing support. They are all experts in WordPress and will help you fix your website (even if it's your fault that it's broken). Even Rackspace doesn't come close to the level of service they provide.
There is nothing I dislike. I've been surprised a few times when a few side applications I am developing in the directory disappear without warning, but now I know it's an automated malware removal. Now I just notify them to protect any special subfolders I am working in.
I use WP Engine to manage all of our non-profits websites for marketing and lead generation.
