The Ecwid ecommerce plugin shares many of the same characteristics as the BigCommerce plugin in that it won’t slow down your site. Ecwid is a fully hosted platform which means that they take care of the technical aspects of your online store so you don’t have to worry about site security, site uptime, etc. All of your products and transactions are served on Ecwid’s servers which is completely independent of your site. And similar to BigCommerce, you can run your site in a subfolder which is great for SEO. Ecwid’s only SEO drawback is that you can’t change your URL slug which is a nice to have feature but not a deal breaker. The best part about Ecwid is that it’s 100% free to use for up to 10 products on your site. However as your store grows, you will eventually have to sign up for a paid plan that starts at $15/month.

The main downside to using Ecwid is that it does not have good 3rd party software tool support. For example, integrating Ecwid with the leading email marketing platform Klaviyo requires you to use Zapier to glue the 2 tools together. The lack of 3rd party tool support can be a big problem if you want to run a fully featured online store.

It doesn’t work as great for larger businesses; The features and tools have a basic design.

You can benefit from a free starter website; For those of you who already have their own websites, you can create a shop with Ecwid and add it to your existing site.

What I like about Ecwid, at first sight, is that it offers a free account. It is an excellent place to start your online selling and learning while building your e-commerce business. Also, it is easy to use. I would highly recommend.

The downside is that you have to pay extra in order to use some features.

Ecwid also has good features like payment options. That makes it convenient for customers to choose a payment of their choice.

I like how easy it is to set up the Ecwid Shopping cart and the different pricing plans that are available.

There is nothing I dislike about this shopping cart. It is one of my favorites that I have had experience using.

We are able to sell products online. We are not currently using this feature, but we have in the past had our products on Amazon and Ebay. I liked that I could adjust the price of a product in Ecwid and that would automatically adjust the price of the product on Amazon and Ebay.

I like the simply layout of the site so I can easily build and add onto my website.

I don't like that I can't put products on my website for viewing purposes only.

I'm able to use ecwid to earn as much money as possible without excessive fees from other marketing platforms.

I like the simple style in everything what they doing. I have spent months to choose e-commerce platform which will work for me. And telling you better then Ecwid for small size business- just can't find. They always keep upgrading the system with new features! And customer support just amazing! Always help me with hard questions.

Simple and easy to use. Initially, I felt it was somewhat limited, but with the switch to the New-gen version of the Instant Site, there is nothing that I have not been able to do.

Apps/plug-ins are still a bit lacking for things I want to do.

I love the ability to embed my store on our main website. It keeps us from having to develop a whole page for purchases. I also love the ability to be a partner and make a commission on referring Ecwid to our users

I dislike how difficult it can be to find design elements to customize the store's look (for example making it transparent to fit any and every background). I do not like how difficult it is to create automatic discounts and that you have to pay for an app to do those types of discounts. A lot of key elements are hidden behind paywalls even though we spend a decent amount on Ecwid already.

I am solving the e-commerce problem for landing pages and have realized this is a huge must for us and our users.

Ecwid is the perfect example that simplicity and affordability don't compromise functionality! This is a very capable and fair platform that helps us grow our business. Additionally, they are super friendly and are eager to help if you reach out. For the more tech-people out there: they have an extensive API that can do plenty :)

The lack of built-in support of RTL languages.
