Plenty options for visualizations. Good breakup of available data and readymade solutions for most common use cases.
Needs the user to be tech-savvy to use tool effectively. Very difficult for new user to figure out how to use and get data out from Mixpanel.
We are using MixPanel to track usage of an APP prepared for our product. Mixpanel helps us look at adoption of the APP and usage based on time dimensions
channel analytics is the best and also great that they have option to make back-end integration
pricing is not easy for startups, but fine for agency
back-end analytics
The api libraries are fantastic, very easy to implement and get up and running. Funnels are a great way to view conversion rates through steppers / pages. Docs are very good. Easy for non technical members of the team to use and start creating their own charts. Easy to navigate and excellent ux. Collects a lot of user data by default and ip and location is very useful.
Lack of flexibility in terms of bringing in other datasources which has forced us to move towards a total data warehouse solution. Ad blocker removes ~5 % of client side events which means you have to be clever comparing server side to client side. No original react native libraries, although plenty of external wrappers available. Could be more accurate collecting initial referrer, also could be better ways to explore your user base. New common journey tracking features would be a great addition.
Front end and server side event based tracking. Use node.js and javascript libraries as well as react native wrappers for the native ios and android libraries
Ability to sort data bearing deep insights from the product/website without any conventional coding knowledge is the best part of it.
There hasn't been anything such so far but there could be some improvements in the graphical form of how it is displayed.
Helped in tracking information related to the product such as sign up rate, conversion ratio, other basic info and Apps related information of the product. Querying all these without any coding effort and easy access makes it much easier to use.
Simple to integrate. Can drill down to specific details - e.g location of customer, and phone type. The free signup programme (in exchange for putting the mixpanel logo on your website) is a great system to help small companies get going.
Complicated to use if not experienced with analytics tools.
Mobile-commerce platform - trying to track customer flow through our funnel. Benefit is being able to view drop-off points clearly and amend the product.
Push app notification will be the first thing I liked about Mixpanel, then AB testing number two. If you are app developer you know how hard it is developing an app and implement analysis, bug track, know how your app actually working. It's not very easy though. Mixpanel literally reduced 50% of analysis work and bring up lots of other features I even never thought about. Very depth and accurate analytics feature for cellphone app and very easy to use within your code. Track every single activity on your app trace for bug and find our user needs just from your Mixpanel dashboard. Send push app notification to your app and share your news easily device wide. Do AB testing to figure out what your users wants. So far this is very useful service for cellphone app developer and web app developer.
Thing I didn't liked about Mixpanel is their documentation not that user friendly. What I meant not for beginner level developer.
Using this service for cellphone app analytics, push app notification and AB testing. Very helpful for tracking app usage and improving app services.
Mixpanel has a number of statistics that are not found in other types of analytics software. For example, we can follow the clicking of any link with Mixpanel. Mixpanel also shows the statistics for the subpages and shows the flow chart of where all the Users fall off. In addition, Mixpanel is free for even relatively high traffic websites, provided we include a "Powered by Mixpanel" button on our website.
I dislike that Mixpanel is not so well integrated into Google and other types of analytics software. We need to have our own dashboard.
I would like to know exactly how many people have clicked on a particular category of links that represents the core functionality of our site. Our website is for helping students find academic and other projects on campus. Each project had its own page, and its own associated link for viewing. We wanted to track how many people clicked on the link to view the projects, compared to the number of people who were on the website as a whole. We were able to successfully do this with Mixpanel and we were able to use the free tier of the software because our traffic for our website was not very high.
The ability to create pipelines of user activity is really great. You can see the when and how of user activity flow and perhaps best of all see how long the interstitial time is between the initiation and completion of events/tasks is.
The fact that the user records and events are in 2 separate DBs makes it it very difficult to bind users to the events unless you duplicate a lot of data in the even databases. Also lack or complete relational comparisons in drill downs (can only do ANDs) is a rather large oversight.
Discovered of user activations and task completion processes. Also analysis of how users discover and use product features
It seems like it's virtually limitless the things you can do with Mixpanel. If you have someone who's adept at the platform, you have a seriously powerful tool on your hands
The learning curve can be quite steep at first and I rarely felt like I was doing more than scratching the surface of the functionality.
We used it to track activities for specific contractors and users of the site that we'd hired to perform certain tasks. Mixpanel let us accurately track these users and give is the data we were looking for.
The insights on users that are given - what they have done on the app (completed lesson), or their email address to then reach out to them for feedback - it needs to be easier to navigate and learn all features - I am sure there are a lot of useful features
I don't know if this feature exists, but maybe there could be a feature to view stats over time (number of users - active users) - it is a bit hard to learn all features!
With Mixpanel, I am able to see the number of users that use my app, and how many of them go on daily... But especially I can see where users leave the app - during what lessons they lose engagement and so on!
How easy it is to build charts. You don't need to spend an hour like amplitude, very intuitive to deliver and sort out events and user behaviour. The ui is definitely intuitive
The documentation isn't great.. the web app is often slow when you try to load charts. Please write better documentation on how to integrate mixpanel in all platforms (nextjs, react, angular, etc)
We used it as a replacement for amplitude for analytics in our company. Basically all user acquisition details, profile data and attributes are stored in mixpanel profiles
The richness of the data Mixpanel collects is excellent
It wasn't easy to find my way around, build reports and graphs...
Tracking product usage and integrating them
It can give you trending data on features most used, time in-app, logins.
We cannot pull accurate contact lists based on in-app usage of features or log-ins. It doesn't integrate well with the hosting network of our product.
When we need to review new feature adoption rates or query usage based on location thie reporting and insight fuctions are slick to use
I like how easy and fast I can make many classical product analyses. Adding filters and breakdowns to generate insights quickly within specific segments/cohorts on my users
It is not so easy to view data in my own way. I may want to add more columns to an "insights" analysis or aggregate in different ways that Mixpanel does not allow me to. A good benchmark for this solution is Google's Looker, which basically allows you to edit columns and lines with different aggregations
I am constantly analyzing user data to make decisions on what features to build and how to build them. I have been able to find a lot of different trends and insights mainly describing what characteristics differ from groups with high vs low engagement
The implementation guidance, integrations, and the resources
Acces to resources is messy and the content is repeated in lot of places
Understand the users behaviour, tracking our product KPIs---
Lots of statistics. Once correctly installed, you can measure about anything, cross-platform.
Hard to make simple statistics or comparisons. Often we drown in data.
Need to see the user behaviour, which Mixpanel can show us.
I love that Mixpanel allows me to see in real-time what my customers are doing. I can tell who is really adopting our platform without having to sit at their desk watching them. It is critical when we have a launch of our platfor within a custom organization to see usage in real-time, right from the minute we walk out of the training room.
I dislike that the UI changes so often. I learn how to do something and then often need to relearn. The renaming of features has been problematic in the past too.
I will use Mixpanel to see at a high level what users are adopting. Then, I can double click into the features that they are using or more importantly NOT using, so I know where to focus my teams efforts. I have found it to be incredibly useful for remote troubleshooting as well, since I can see the click path that the user took to get to a troublesome point.
Added value to google analytics, combined are very powerful
More bi to turn data to actions, instead of another tool for reports
Make sense of data
It is user friendly and very precise especially the dashboards
Usability or use cases are missing. For e.g if I want to track user wise data of which user havee opened the app ..halfof it comes as undefined
I user it for tracking how many of my users are opening up the application and how is the trend month on month or week on week
I enjoy the fluidity of the user interface.
I dislike the fact that MixPanel isn't necessarily designed for long-term storage as opposed to something like Looker.
I am able to determine the CCSAT for certain populations of our users which is incredibly helpful in A/B testing.
