The best part about mixpanel is the API's and the data pipeline tools which allows our team to directly access our data
Insights reports could be expanded to have more graphing options
Really getting to understand our users
It's really intuitive. You don't need more than a day for understanding the features you need and how to use them.
Non-paid features are very limited and it could be a stopper for a small company without budget.
User tracking. It's perfect for having a track record of how your users use your tool.
do not need to code to do analytics, this is great for who isn't technical
there's a lot in this tool and the training isn't the best
unable to utilize all the capabilities
The Event tracking easily beats the Google Analytics equivalent for analyzing complex interactions (on a website or app). The Mixpanel Community is a useful source of tips and resolutions.
I dislike how certain features require you to pay more money (e.g. flow reporting). I'd prefer it if we were given an a-la-carte price where we could avail of all the features. I'd also say that their account management isn't very good - they're not very proactive with managing client relationships (or at least they aren't with us!). Every now and again they'll talk about different pricing plans, but we'd prefer a stronger relationship around getting more out of the toolkit.
We've used it to track how Users interact with our address/location selectors. We've learned how users are triggering errors when they enter their details and also what the most popular selections are (e.g. ZIP code entry versus City).
I like the most the signal report, I think it's a very powerful tool.
the dates in insight are right above the results view or table and it's a little confusing, cause you can also add date as a filter
easy way to see retention and churn between different steps in the customer's flow. you can also see the most common flow your customer's going through.
UX is very good- building reports is easy
I would like the graphs to be more settings options
Not yet solving problems, we are gaining insight on our users behavior at the moment.
• Pretty UI • Reports are fairly easy to build • Dashboards are fairly easy to setup
• Dashboard reports don't display the full report. For example, if there are too many vertical bars in a bar chart, only a portion of the bars appear in the dashboard. You have to click into the report to view which makes it difficult to do cross comparisons with other charts. • Report date filtering is odd. You can't do anything like THIS MONTH, LAST MONTH, you can only do "LAST 7 DAYS, LAST 30 DAYS" which makes it hard to see month over month analysis. Would love to see some additional date filtering options such as THIS MONTH.
• Better understanding of conversion metrics
The flexibility - you can really set it up to your current needs at the start but then adjust it as your requirements change.
I found it a little bit difficult to get used to the logic of how everything's categorised (once all set up and integrated with our system) .
We are keeping track of certain engagement levels of end-users. We are surfacing these details via Mixpanel in an easy to understand way
The ability to filter users by behaviors and send emails with minimal effort
Learning curve at the very start - on boarding could be better
It’s helping me to get an overview of my users’ behaviors
Mixpanel can really capture any metric in any format like daily monthly, or cumulative!
It takes a developer to connect the metric tracking into a web app or platform
Im able to quickly view my companies metrics
The variety of out-of-the-box report types are great for novice reporting users
Sometimes we run into some limitations around customization of the details
Funnel reporting and event reports for adoption
Live view is what I like the most. It helps me see the actual events in real time.
It would be great if the data events in Mixpanel has a very little delay,
We use mixpanel to make sure all the events in our product is firing correctly.
Easy & quick analysis of same day performance with clear visuals that are easily customizable
Would love to have more pre-built reports (e.g. demographic or age splits)
Understanding how different sources and channels affect our sign up volume
It has a lot of different options to setup campaigns, and very UI friendly to create message setups
Their SMS seems to not work very intuitive and harder to manage/update
CRM consumer messaging through varies channels
I love how easy is to set up profiles and send events with properties programmatically (we use PHP and JS SDKs) and your Python SDK to manage and pull large amount of data is also brilliant. Other great thing is your active ticket support system.
I feel like users cohorts could be filters in more views (I often felt limited). Also we would like to have better control over exporting the reports from the interface.
We have a browser extension that shows voucher codes. Properties and super properties are a life saver.
The in product analytics are great. Users are able to create customer funnels and track specific user behavior from marketing website to app
There was issues with the accuracy of the data and user behavior.
Mix Panel does provide us with insight into how users are engaging with our product down to the event level. You have the ability to track behavior from a specific page, to plan, to geo location.
The ability to view segments, filter them according to conclusions and then view any property is super useful.
The service is overpriced, at the 2 last companies I worked at my budget didn't allow me to use MixPanel as I wanted
I use it for game design, by learning about the behavior of my players I am able to fine tune features.
The tools gives you the ability to Understand every user's journey, Analyze each interaction across the full customer journey . Allows us to customize the costumer funnel
Problem differentiating between 'real' and 'spam' clicks sometimes. It can treat bot as if it was a user. It's not easy to compare two different funnels to one another
It give the option to understand and adjust the user overall flow in the system. Allows for segmentation
Our team uses MixPanel to log user actions from our app. It's useful to see what our users have been doing when troubleshooting their accounts.
The way that events display makes it super time consuming to locate specific actions. I would really like to see events be more sortable, cross referenced, and cross linked.
Logging our user actions
Mixpanel has a lot of capabilities for tracking web events and does so in real-time. It's also relatively easy to create custom events that are specific to your site and business goals. In addition, the tracking of these events is retroactive- so if you create an event today, the data from yesterday still exists for that event which is really helpful, and isn't something offered by other tools like google analytics.
Mixpanel is not intuitive from a user's perspective at all. I work at a media company where a lot of non-technical people need to be able to access and understand our analytics platforms and Mixpanel is extremely difficult for them to grasp.
Despite the aforementioned challenging UX, the customization really has helped our business. For example, we are a B2B media company so we care deeply about the "quality"of our traffic - meaning we want high-level business executives reading our articles, not just anyone. We are able to easily integrate this information from our ESP with Mixpanel to be able to tell us this information. It's funnel feature is also excellent for tracking landing page conversion rates.
