QuickBooks Desktop Pro Reviews: 4.3/5 — Solid Choice

QuickBooks Desktop Pro allows me to keep thorough records and makes it easy to enter all the information needed. The process is streamlined and easy to navigate. Highly recommend.

A few minor changes I would like to see is more information printed when printing "Customer & Job Information", and also that the windows wouldn't all minimize when I edit contacts.

The most helpful tool for us has been all the detailed options to enter our information in invoices, payroll, etc. This allows us to print thorough reports for profitability and sales records.

Quickbooks desktop pro allows for ease of accounting work. One is able to find all the important accounts required in order to complete a transaction, examples includes bills to pay, invoices to be paid for, cash infow and outflow in the business ,plus other relevant aspects such as payroll. The software also enables one to know where the business stands by use of income statements and to also know the wealth of the business by use of statement of financial position.

Quickbooks desktop pro may lack many users and hence a limiting factor in the progress of the business, this is because some clients may not be advanced and may be using different software, whereas others use traditional methods of accounting and hence yielding almost same results but different methods. the results may also differ due to different methodologies.

Quickbooks desktop pro has helped in solving reporting problems, when entries are done correctly and with minimal errors, quality reports are produced automatically, and hence resulting into improvement and growth of business. It has also helped in tracking bills and ensuring they are paid on time.

Quickbooks has an ease of use that beginners and navigate and it has enough features for advanced users.

I'm sure it is the users lack of knowledge (me) but I wish it was easier to integrate it with our payroll companies to upload entries and also vendors like Fintech. I'm sure it can be done....it's just not apparent to me on how to do it and there are no easy guides in QuickBooks Pro.

We use QB Pro as our only accounting software. This company manages 5 restaurants and several rental properties and we use QB for all of them.

I really appreciate the simplicity that is brought to my business by using Quickbooks. Its powerful reporting feature as well as some of the inherent controls preventing accounting errors is great!

Quickbooks recently released its online version and they keep trying to push me to use it. The only problem is that it lacks certain features so I want to stay with my desktop version.

It has made my payables and reporting aspects of accounting much simpler to keep up with.

It tracks everything easily. Easy desktop setup and configuration.

Security is all or nothing. Would prefer to see screen and even field security

It makes keeping track of all our invoicing and expenses for tax purposes easy.

QB is the easiest accounting software I have ever used. It has good report feature capability, and allows me to tally information and create custom reports easily. It is flexible when I need to make corrections (unlike most other accounting programs that I've used). It has several automatic features that save a lot of time such as bill pay that integrates with your bank, and direct deposit for doing payroll. It also integrates well with 3rd party software.

The search features are somewhat limited. For example, if I have a generic customer called "Online Sales" but I put specific customer info in the "Bill To" field on each separate invoice, I would like to be able to search on the "Bill To" field and find that customer. Currently, it is not possible. Also, it would be nice if address info for customers and vendors could be separated out by fields so that it would be easier to search and sort by location, etc.

We use QB as our main accounting software. We use it for A/R, A/P and payroll. It saves us lots of time, and allows us to do business analysis. QB also makes it easy to coordinate with our CPA come tax time.

The ability to organize all purchase orders per customer. We used to use Fishbowl which would stack all purchase orders line-by-line.

The only issue that I am having is trying to figure out how to limit access to certain individuals. User error, maybe. However, Quickbooks support has been very helpful.

We are now able to assign a sales rep per account. This helps us at the end of the month to calculate commissions.

All of our clients are saved on this platform; being to easily build estimates that are simple to read by our clients is excellent. Also, the fact that we can use the mobile app to access the clients' database is also significant.

I dislike the fact that you can't add an auto message to display when sending out estimates to clients, also a way to integrate appointments and clients added on google calendar would also have been a help. The desktop app tends to freeze up on both Mac and Windows.

Keeping all our clients organized by the work we have done for them, being able to always see open invoice and send reminders for payment.

I have been using QuickBooks for more than 20 years. From small businesses to large businesses, it has every single function that you could ever need for an accounting software.

The only thing that I dislike about it, is when you need customer service it is from overseas, and it is absolutely impossible to understand what they are saying.

The one major benefit is that I can print out every single report, in every single way, that my boss should ever need.

I like the remembered transactions -- makes logging my invoices, checks, deposits, and payroll so much quicker

I like that quickbooks has an online interface to begin with. Many programs do not.

We find ourselved using other programs often to supplement some of the things quickbooks does not do.

Easy to use for financial software. Compatible with any other software application.

The file i s getting big and there is no way to reduce the file without archiving the data.

The QB is a good start application for small business but once you have more complicated situation, the functions in QB are not enough.

I like that it was easy to learn as I went. Extensive help is available if needed. I can get reports easily.

Some of the windows within the program cannot be moved or dragged around the desktop. Sometimes it creates a hassle.

It lets me see at a glance where we're at financially, both with our customers and to our vendors.

It’s so easy to navigate. So easy to learn and just great software. I love that you can create invoices and so easily. I used it to enter invoices from vendors in to pay bills

Nothing at all. I love Quickbooks so much. It’s my favorite software now.

Eliminating paperwork. Keeping track of billing so much easier. I’ve realized what great software it is. I like that billing,and payroll can all be done in it.

Once a year we have to create purchases on behalf of 100 or so people, and there's no way to automate it, you just have to do it by hand.

Ease of use is very important within my company. We have a wide range of technological knowledge so it’s important that all can easily understand and use the program. It also helps (oddly) that not much changes from version to version so upgrades are also easy.

I often feel like there could be more keyboard accessible shortcuts. It often irritates me when I can’t open certain things without grabbing my mouse (bill entry, invoices, etc.). It also irritates me that I can’t make bulk changes to invoices (billing month section in particular). It’s irritsting to have to go through each item individually and change this item.

It’s not necessarily solving any problems at this point in our use, as it’s been the primary product for years now. One of my favorite features is the memorized transactions.

I like that I'm not an accountant and can pretty much do what I need to do.

It's a little complicated but only because I'm not an accountant or trained on Quickbooks.

Keeping detailed account records. I need to know what's happening in my business and this is the only tool for the job.

I did not need training. Unlike peach tree or Sage as it is now called. So much a person can enter wrong. Quick books is basic and simple but any type of report customized to your requirements is easy to print or view.

I cannot think of anything. I do not even have to buy a new copy of quickbooks every year as they continue to support and update my version that is a year old.

Bookkeeping/accounting for clients

This software is very easy to learn to use. Nothing is super complicated to learn. Most small businesses have everything they need with this software. It creates most basic reports that you need without having to do it yourself.

I wish it was easier to create new reports. To me it always seems complicated.

It keeps me apprised of the money flow and where spending might be too high each month.

I like that I can use it for multiple sub-companies within one company. I have one overall company, but several other companies within that company and they can all be run and tracked individually within my one company and merged for the overall results.

I dislike the pricing for upgrades. Some upgrades are so minimal, but it is like paying for the whole software program again.

I used to use Business Contact Manager in Outlook for my CRM with clients. Quickbooks Pro lets me accomplish all that I accomplished with that, plus do all of my Accounting in one program.

Reliable, installs on desktop and can be used for multiple years and multiple companys.

It is great software to manage inventory and see the dollar value on hand. You can easily make quick customized reports specified with certain dates.

There is not much to dislike about it. It is very easy to navigate and use.

We use it to track pay roll for employees and an inventory management program and to track our financials.

Many tutorials available and easy to learn for business owners who don't have accounting background.

Lack of audit trail. Easy to delete and edit transactions.

Small business owners can enter transactions on their own and have a CPA review their book periodically. Payroll and payment acceptance can be done directly inside quickbooks as well.
