Compare Caspio with other popular tools in the same category.
Compared to other systems that we used in the past, Caspio is highly flexible and can be rapidly modified in response to changing program needs. For example, our Federal funder frequently changes forms or questions that we are required to ask of our trainees. In the past we would need to submit changes to a developer and go through multiple rounds of revisions. I am a program evaluator, with no formal training in programming or website development, and with Caspio I can quickly make the changes myself.
Compared to some previous systems Caspio's user interface is more complex, so there was some up-front time required for me to learn the system. But the positive associated with that is a high degree of flexibility. Basic tasks can be set up quickly, but advanced users have more options for greater control over the system's functionality. Overall it seems like a good trade-off.
We use Caspio for three inter-connected functions: an online event registration system for trainees, an event management dashboard and reporting system for training coordinators, and an administrative reporting dashboard for program managers at our central office. Each set of end-users has their own interface, to interact in different ways with the same underlying data.
Ease of use for non-coder personnel. Can set up a basic functioning application with little training.
Mostly a positive experience so far. We don't use the more complex features, and so wish we knew more about the product to maybe take advantage of those aspects.
We mostly use Caspio to develop department-level applications, contracts database, track spend from vendors, on-line sign up sheets for vaccine clinics. It has reduced manual tracking and filing, making employees more efficient.
The ability to build a functioning piece of software with very little to no coding knowledge
some capabilities are not yet available. but I trust they will be eventually
we were able to build our teacher registration platform in a few months. to facilitate licensing
The wizard architecture makes low-code achievable.
Monthly payments are a factor -- but are probably not that much different than the cost of a commercial programming language subscription.
Gathering brief weekly reports from our field workers. Caspio allowed us to write them, prompting them with "last week's numbers."
The best part of Caspio is the fact that there is no need to code anything other than to learn how to click and select the features that you need!
One area that needs improvement though is the layout of the User Interface. It needs to be intuitive so that searching and fumbling can be avoided.
Being able to port an excel spreadsheet to a website where any user can search for their specific data is a tremendous time saving benefit!
Caspio is a very efficient method to develop an MVP. And can easily be integrated into a published website. I like the fact that there is a huge amount of training, and how-to videos. Caspio is pretty intuitive and any time I run into an issue I have been able to get customer support to help me through the issue in a reasonable time frame.
Lets say you need to add a question to a form. It automatically goes to the bottom of the form. Then you have to click the up arrow to move that question up one row at a time. On long forms this becomes really redundant and cumbersome. If I could easily add a question to the middle of a form by dragging and dropping that would be great. Or if I could select multiple questions at once and move them all at once that would also be great.
I needed to rapidly build a database that people could sign up to and enter various types of data. I needed to do this with no other team members and for very little overhead. I have been able to do that. There is so much more functionality on Caspio than I am currently using so that is great to know there is more for me to grow into.
Basic funtionalities for creating an application are very easy. Caspio is convenient to use and it's easy to create a new application from scratch very quickly.
Downsides are related to the fact that it's a low code platform - which means you should choose other options if you aren't looking for a low code solution. Price for the easy entry is limitations with more complicated systems.
Most valuable features were related to built-in features like registration and account management. These made it fast to create safe systems for users that are handling sensitive data.
Fees are fair, the system is clean and easy to use, support is fast and awesome. The relational database aspects was a challenge, but the Caspio team walked me through it so I could move all our data from QuickBase to Caspio. They provide a lot of videos and written documentation for nearly every step. They also have fast, live chat help, as well. What more do you need?
Like anything new, it takes a while to get up to speed, but the included expert sessions are really good. I wish their charts looked more professional, but they are as good as Google Charts
We used QuickBase for over 10 years, but their fees kept increasing and support became useless. Switching to Caspio took a lot of work for me as I'm not much of a programmer, but the low-code aspect works well and the support was awesome. Overall, Caspio has been paying off nicely. Everyone in our group likes how clean and easy it is to use. Giving them extra features has been easy.
Caspio has been unparalleled in its usefulness to my department -- helping me create applications that would have taken my IT department years to create -- and not as well.
I would love to be able to easily copy rows of data -- similar to an Excel environment. I have to do a lot of copying and pasting (if I am not doing an import). There is also a lot of scrolling across the screen -- I want to be able to hide columns in my tables when working on the backend tables.
We have been able to create searchable databases for internal company information using various dashboards. We have been able to easily do reporting on large amounts of data. Adding and removing users is very easy as well.
Reliability, ease of use for non-programer
there are some quirkes, which I have found work arounds.
I can develop and offer Saas products
very easy to use and great database foundation
nothing that comes to mind. solid pacakge overall
healthcare lab LIMS
We have started using Caspio 4 weeks ago, and it is already operative. The positive side is that we can keep improving it all the time, even while we are still learning the full potential of the platform. Deploying your data in a website couldn´t be easier.
You will need a reasonable knowledge of Java, but the examples available on the platform are very easy to follow.
Easy website access for the internal users.
Caspio lets me link my other applications. This has improved our customer journey which has led to more happy customers.
I have not found any downsides. If I had to make any dislike it would be to slightly lower the price
Caspio helps me communicate with my customers in a very seamless way. The automation element is amazing
Caspio has a very intuitive user interface that makes building reports easy. I also like the different methods we can import data; FTP, Dropbox, and API. It's also nice I can use SQL commands and functions. If you like relational databases, you're going to love Caspio, extremely easy to pair multiple tables.
I've noticed reliability issues with Caspio's API, especially under heavy usage.
We use Caspio for reporting, data management and agrregation, and it powers many of our internal and consumer-facing apps.
We have felt Caspio has met our needs to create a functional CTMS for our clinical teams to use. We have built financial tracking, patient tracking, and have been able to use Caspio to create full oncology trials in the system and attach documents. Forums are super useful when we find ourselves unable to figure something out.
Things are not always 100% intuitive and we have had issues when updates are released without notification to our team - but we have been able to use the help teams to get us where we need to be.
We are a small non-profit organization with specific needs in working with oncology trials. Many CTMS applications either do not meet our needs, or are well beyond what we need (meaning they are also well beyond our price point). We have been able to build what we need, without needing to hire a coder or a specialist to do so.
The Caspio Team was fantastic. Having never built a software or anything close to that, Ivy from Caspio was patient and offered suggestions that helped me add additional value.
My only complaint would be the lack of current Caspio builds to use as models or examples when developing
The ability to track human performance to determine where performance trends exist allow me to provide a pinpoint focus on what needs improving. The database also tracks performance over time, which let's me see the performance cycle from beginning to end.
I was able to develop systems and processes that fit my business needs without an indebt knowledge of code.
Nothing. It took time to work through the tutorials and manuals and to build the various applications, but that was expected.
It handles many of the operational data base functions for my business.
Intuitive design with app and data tools all being self-serve.
Change has its ups and downs. I have been a customer for many years and while I appreciate all the upgrades over time, keeping up with all the changes/upgrades can be challenging.
We are combining large data sets with Caspio and love the easy tools to present results.
low code - easy development of our product and deployment.
Not much...it helps us and any issues were resolved. There really are no issues.
We use the HIPAA compliant platform for patient care.
I was impressed with the tool. I was able to get up and running within a couple of weeks of training. Online videos and how-tos were beneficial. I looked at several other options and am happy with my decision.
My only issue is how it is integrated with the web front end. It does not work well with content management systems (WordPress, Drupal, etc.). They recommended that I use straight html rather than a CMS; however, this does add some overhead.
I need a rapid development tool that does not require extensive coding experience. I did not want to hire developers to accomplish what I needed. I built a solution within a couple of months, and I can build POCs rapidly.
Excellent Solution on reliable infrastructure with outstanding Customer / Technical Support. I have yet to come across a single ask from my Customers that we were unable to provide with Caspio Bridge.
Nothing to dislike, I wish we had more Vendors like Caspio Bridge.
Custom ITSM (ticketing) solution for Operations with "somewhat" complex workflows, including various Centralized Data Repositories that gives us a great handle on our Infrastructure. A few years back, I shared the Workflow with a major ITSM Vendor, who said I would be better off designing and building the proposed solution myself. (Little did I know that it would become a reality.) The custom design was implemented with Caspio Bridge within a month.
Powerful Caspio capabilities can be utilized by any company with limited resources. The process of building is very logical and streghtforward, making the whole process seem like fun rather than work.
The pricing model might be a little bit confusing. It would be nice to have more explanation about the components of the price.
Caspio serves excellent as a customer relationship management tool. We also use Caspio as a marketplace for our partners and potential customers.
Most helpful aspect of Caspio is the friendly Customer Service Team, for me led by Ramil Borromeo, immediately or quickly followed by Ned Pajic's ***** 5-Star Training on Youtube, especially the Caspio Labs!!! And that would be the Biggest of all the upsides of using Caspio... as an insurance agent now learning Developer; it's the Tutorials, the Expert Support, and the Knowledge base of Tools and Resources that are Simply the Best available.
Honestly my least favorite thing about using Caspio is the Low-Code pitch as Yes it is technically true, because I knew little to almost no code until Ned Pajic (Caspio Trainings Technical Evangelist) taught me via Youtube. So yeah that's my least favorite thing, but I also love it because it allows me to stand out as being more highly qualified having gone through their more intense free training program on Youtube for just over a year now, so actually a success here.
Caspio is helping us solve business problems such as Tracking and Accountability for certain!! Thankfully we weeded out a few people, and others have begun Literally Flourishing because, like me, as a business owner, I can look and show myself, our agents, or even my wife... "Hey, look at all the work and calls and such I'm logging in our New Caspio System; see how truly worth it, it is!" --- Because I can now track all the Benefits of using the database systems, our team is all on the same page --- At the Same Time! Yes, simultaneously in Real-Time and after I log an appointment while in the field, our office staff can instantly assist or follow up with recent notes! Too many Benefits to put into this review.... But definitely worth it for sure.
The no-code or low-code software is very easy to learn and use. I had a basic database up and working in days.
The more advanced features can be difficult to understand. Some knowledge of coding may be required to get the most out of the software.
We currently use Caspio to track all of the grants we give out. It has truly taken us to the next level in being able to analyze our giving and make clear decisions about future grants.
I love the advanced functionality without the need to be a developer.
I wish there was a better dashboard interface built-in. In addition, I wish it was easy to make my database graphical for our users.
We are finally keeping accurate track of our historical milestones and weekly event information and making it available and searchable to the public.
The best thing about Caspio is the fact that you are able to create a solution for your business without having the coding background it would require otherwise. Their low-code platform has allowed me to create multiple applications and a fixed & low-monthly rate.
When uploading a spreadsheet to create it into a table there is a max amount of lines it can have. (My main data table is greater then the number they allow)
I created a CRM solution using the platform.
Caspio designed the database for me; the design process was quick, with every opportunity to test the design throughout. The database was unusual as it involved the biological classification of fish parasites and the fish species affected. The database had to allow the incorporation of fish samples and their location in the UK, so a complex system. Throughout the design and subsequently, the team at Caspio have resolved any issues speedily. Most of the issues were of my own making, and concerned my poor knowledge of database systems. The search engines which have been incorporated into the design are brilliant, allowing a search for parasite species, the fish hosts, size of parasites, location. This is a fantastic tool, accessing data for research purposes.
There is nothing I have disliked about the Caspio build of my database, I'm very happy with the service I've been given.
Until the mid-1990's knowledge of fish parasite distribution was undertaken by publishing in a variety scientific journals, which resulted in the information being widely distributed and with limited access. The use of an electronic database allows historic and current records to be located on a single, accessible platform. The ability to easily add data, drill down on information on either parasites or the fish hosts is fantastic. The database is providing information that will be used to understand the distribution of non-native invasive species, provide a base line for the native parasites. The information will provide the basis for further research projects.
Caspio is super easy to use for a basic application and then when you go under the covers, you can do almost anything with it. We've done some highly complicated UX stuff with it - not as much complex DB stuff but it has all the expected SQL functionality. There is a REST API which we are just starting to use. Overall love the product. We were able to bring on inexperienced developers and get them up to speed very fast using the Caspio community forum, help documentation and online chat support.
3 things. 1) the pricing for the HIPAA compliant environment is a little high and may price smaller projects out of the market. 2) Their professional services stay in their lane and what I mean by that is they have some really cool stuff but they want you to buy their services instead of sharing their insights, if it were my company I'd offer that as an incentive to use the product. 3) Security is by 3rd party cookie (as is almost everyone else in this space) - they'll need to figure out a way to adopt that as Google Chrome moves away from supporting that. I think (hope) that Google continues to drag their feet. Apple already does this on Safari so to make use of native Caspio you have to instruct Safari uses to explicitly enable 3rd party cookies.
We've built a business application that tracks medical procedures enabling a large practice to better comply with HEDIS standards. We built a couple of different scheduling apps - some of them requiring HIPAA level privacy. We built a complex provider selection application that supports a group of businesses that self-insure. This enables their employees to get discounted surgical, imaging, lab and PT services. Saves money for both employer and employee. The big benefit for us was economically building applications. We think we saved over $1M in labor costs building out 6 applications over 2 years if comparing to a similar quote on a native cloud platform.
Ability to design complex interlinked data tables. Very good customer support.
Difficult to deploy behind client firewalls
Ability to interlink and visualize multiple datatables.
Ease of use and toolsets. It allows us to react quickly to our customer's changing needs.
DataPage Editor could be made more programmer-friendly.
We love the quick turnaround time from design to implementation. We have created a robust Web Portal for our customers.
