"In-app sourcing is nice, the rest is lacking"
What do you like best about Lever?

In-app sourcing tool (Nurture) that allows us to track communication journey from source to hire.

What do you dislike about Lever?

-No candidate experience survey -Inaccuracies with reporting that their team cannot explain -Lack of mobile features -Permission levels don't meet our needs -Customer support has been inconsistent and at times inaccurate -Lack of integrations -Mailbox reminder is too noisy; can’t filter by tasks, dates, importance -Lack of user dashboard -Overall look and feel (too stark) -Candidate profiles are hard to navigate -Difficulty integrating our CIIAA with DocuSign

What problems is Lever solving and how is that benefiting you?

We want an ATS that allows us to source, keep track of, and hire candidates in a consistent, organized, and scalable way. We like the in-app candidate outreach feature (Nurture), but besides that have not realized many other benefits that outweigh our frustrations with the lack of accurate reporting, support, and basic features like a candidate survey.

"Too expensive and clunky for our small volume needs."
What do you like best about Lever?

Like having a unique URL for JDs that anyone can edit / modify rather than relying on web developers. Also like the feature of auto email replies to applications - makes it less stressful when recruiting.

What do you dislike about Lever?

It seems as though the system and benefits of the system (auto replies, candidate tracking, etc) break down if not all steps are done in Lever.

What problems is Lever solving and how is that benefiting you?

Allowed us to be more nimble in editing our JDs and openings.

"Room for improvement"
What do you like best about Lever?

I like that Lever integrates with our HR system and has some integration with Docusign - again, when it works.

What do you dislike about Lever?

Not an intuitive platform, customer service is not great and hard to actually speak to someone which is much faster than emai, the choice between a phone number and a room, the inability to use the DocuSign feature when setting an interview, the inability to at a glance see if someone's calendar event is busy, available, or maybe, things frequently break - ex our offers have not been working for over a week and it's yet to be resolved, I had reported the DocuSign integration as not working when setting up an interview (only works when sending an email directly) and was told it was being worked on for months only to check up again and be told it wasn't being worked on at all and not considered to be worked on in the future, the lack of a save button or pop up confirming changes when you update a candidates profile, often Lever will show someone's calendar as available when it's not, inability for more than one person to leave feedback for one interview slot (we often have people shadowing interviews or do panel style and want them both to leave feedback), lack of more formatting options when posting a job, there should be more options and explainatinos for setting interviewers privliges within Lever, many other issues that are not top of mind at the moment

What problems is Lever solving and how is that benefiting you?

When someone is marked as hired and it auto pushes to our HR system, that's nice - when it works.

"Lever meets small company needs"
What do you like best about Lever?

It is simple and basic, there aren't any bells and whistles, which is honestly good for a small company.

What do you dislike about Lever?

As our company has grown, Lever has not scaled to our needs.

What problems is Lever solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have 50+ open roles globally and work with about 30+ hiring managers.

"Not as robust as I would like"
What do you like best about Lever?

The lever nurture features for sure are the best part.

What do you dislike about Lever?

For me it's a bit cumbersome to use. I'm used to Greenhouse where you can go to a job, see reporting on that job, edit the interview kits, the job post, see the candidates, manage permissions, etc. In Lever for some reason there's very little you can do on a job itself, with everything else stored under settings. The oddest part to me is trying to build a scorecard. You can't do this for the whole job--just per interview feedback form. Which means that each individual interviewer does not have transparency into what other interviewers are covering, so they tend to go off-topic to try and cover everything they think is important. On that note, Lever for some reason still only has the option of leaving feedback in a "hire/no hire" format, which encourages interviewers to go off-topic even more and introduces more opportunity for bias. As well, reporting isn't very intuitive.

What problems is Lever solving and how is that benefiting you?

Lever was really great for us prior to having a built out recruiting department. The nice thing about Lever is that it allows your managers to do whatever they want with their jobs with little ability to be regulated. If you have no centralized recruiting team or recruiters at all, this is definitely a benefit. Again, the lever nurture features also make sourcing much easier than, say, a Greenhouse.

"We left Greenhouse for Lever, and after 1 year, we went back to Greenhouse"
What do you like best about Lever?

Lever's UI was nice. It was very much made for the Recruiter to have ease of use. There were a lot of features that made Lever stand out to it's competitors when it came to scheduling, and prospecting.

What do you dislike about Lever?

Lever as a product wasn't horrible, but the services were. The implementation process took 3 times as long as they said it would, and the Customer Success team was unresponsive and never straight forward with us. We had a lot of issues that were important to us and we felt like they went into a blackhole whenever we told someone from Lever about it. As we have now left Lever after only being on it for a year, they are making the offboarding process even harder for us, trying to charge us for our company data. They sneak in extra charges without telling you ahead of time, and ultimately did not care for us as a customer.

What problems is Lever solving and how is that benefiting you?

Lever helped us with our analytics and reporting.

What do you like best about Lever?

The system is easy for recruiters without recruiting coordinator support.

What do you dislike about Lever?

Terrible customer service. They have a premium service model that costs significant amount but there was zero benefit from it. Hostile negotiating when trying to move systems.

"Not all its made out to be..."
What do you like best about Lever?

It can help you if you have many jobs over a few platforms

What do you dislike about Lever?

However, if you have a few jobs (less than 10) spread out over many platforms - STAY AWAY!

What problems is Lever solving and how is that benefiting you?

We started out thinking it could help us, but the 'intake' consultant did not accurately give all details; rather sold us the system based on inaccurate details that only came to light 6 months after we started our implementation process. In addition, Lever refused to accept responsibility and did not assist us or offer to return the remaining months, claiming instead that the representative who sold it to us was no longer employed with them. Highly disappointed in their business model!

"I had very high hopes, but their support has ruined Lever for me."
What do you like best about Lever?

It has a nice UI and is easy to use. I like some of the automation, easy book links and scheduling functionality. My onboarding manager was great as well. The sales rep was great too.

What do you dislike about Lever?

Nearly all things related to their support. I wrote in a SurveyMonkey "PLEASE HELP ME," and provided my name and phone number. I've also reached out to their Sr. leaders via LinkedIn asking for help...nothing. I've waited seven months, and still, our LinkedIn RSC / Apply w/ LinkedIn still has no resolution. Their CS is very good at directing you to their knowledge base, but besides that, it has been nearly impossible to get our CSM to respond (averages a month to respond to anything). I asked our CSM a critical question related to a careers page integration, and two months later, the only response I have received is "we are working on it." I chose Lever because of its ease of use and UI. I am leaving Lever because of their lack of support.

What problems is Lever solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's a little bit easier to schedule meetings with our hiring manager. The Easy Book link is very nice. You can use it for hiring managers, which saves a lot of time in coordinating meetings.

What do you like best about Lever?

Nothing, it's terrible. It is buggy, lacks customer support.

What do you dislike about Lever?

Lever is not intuitive. It's difficult to search and lacks customization. Customer service is unhelpful, and they raise the price yearly without anything of value being added. There are much better products out there. Lever is not one of them.

"Miserable Experience with Lever"
What do you like best about Lever?

There's nothing that I like about Lever.

What do you dislike about Lever?

Their customer support is absolutely worthless and miserable. They respond once every several days at 11pm Pacific Time. It's almost as if they're intentionally trying to be worthless.

What problems is Lever solving and how is that benefiting you?

"Is probably better for larger companies"
What do you like best about Lever?

The email templates are useful. If you only need to schedule a number of interviews on the same day their scheduling tool is pretty great and does integrate with interviewer calendars. You can automate EEOC surveys, which is pretty nice

What do you dislike about Lever?

Their Cust Service is not great. If you can get a chat open, they are pretty responsive, but their implementation is pretty non existent. Advice - Negotiate the highest level of customer support when negotiating your contract terms. They are also missing some basic key features like being able to renew postings on job boards. Their UI is awful. It is not straight forward. The interview stages have to be the same across every job opening, which makes no sense as different jobs have different interview processes. Moving candidates from stage to stage is clunky, and not automated. If you do not have a faull time admin for Lever I would say skip it. Unless you are hiring a ton and using several different external recruiters, I would say go with something simpler. It is hard to train managers on it. The access levels are clunky and not super clear. It is not easy for managers to see who has access to what information, and the confidential notes features is difficult for managers and non experts to implement.

What problems is Lever solving and how is that benefiting you?

Lever has helped us keep a number of candidates for a number of different roles organised.

"Sr. Manager Talent Acquisition"
What do you like best about Lever?

Lever is fairly easy to navigate and can be quickly learned by new users.

What do you dislike about Lever?

There are several things that I have been unhappy with. Data integrity, automated workflows, customer service and support.

What problems is Lever solving and how is that benefiting you?

There are quite a few issues that we are having with Lever, data being one of the biggest. We did not purchase the data insights package and what I have noticed is that often times we will pull the exact same report and the numbers we get are different. Also, some of features that were sold to us do not work as purported.

"Clearly no idea about how recruiters work"
What do you like best about Lever?

Social Media integration is good, especially as it's linked to referrals. Also have interview feedback forms works well

What do you dislike about Lever?

Reporting is very very poor. Lack of visibility for Recruiters as they can only see their own open jobs, not their colleagues yet they can see and take ownership of all candidates. Relationship between job postings and Job Requisitions isn't clear enough. Lever has been designed to reduce visibility and speed.

"Overhyped, underperforms"
What do you like best about Lever?

Very nice looking product. Looks sleek, modern and cool. Offer letter process is integrated fully soup to nuts into the product, which is nice. Analytics features are really good.

What do you dislike about Lever?

Almost everything else. We switched from Greenhouse to Lever, and switched right back to Greenhouse at the end of our contract. Lever is not intuitive, is difficult to search, has so many things that you cannot customize but that seem counterintuitive and nonproductive (for instance, once an offer is approved, there is no way to change a candidate's start date without re-initiating the offer process) - overall it doesn't feel like it was designed by someone that had been in the trenches recruiting every day. My team had issues with it every single week of the year, and constantly complained.

What problems is Lever solving and how is that benefiting you?

We were trying to get better recruiting analytics, which it did provide, but we realized that if we configured Greenhouse correctly from day 1 we could get similarly good results.

"Lever has been easy to use but customer support has been unreliable."
What do you like best about Lever?

Lever is fairly easy to learn how to use. I like the way that it integrates with the calendar and makes scheduling interviews easy. I also like the way that the scoring of candidates works.

What do you dislike about Lever?

The customer support team takes a while to resolve issues and sometimes issues are resolved incorrectly. Also, it's a pain that I cannot customize the pipeline stages for different jobs. I would recommend that Lever also do a better job providing a dashboard to hiring managers on next steps for their candidates. i wish user permissions were a little bit easier to use. It's unclear who can see what. Candidates easily become stale in Lever. Need a better workflow for following up.

What problems is Lever solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use Lever as our primary ATS. It helps us keep track of candidates while they move throughout hiring workflow. We have not used any of the reporting functionality for Zenefits. We also have not actively sourced candidates through lever.

The customization and tools are great. Jesus was our implementation coordinator and he was awesome but unfortunately the integration did not go as well as we had hoped.

What do you dislike about Lever?

"Missing features, website often lags, reporting is bad, support responds only when legal is involved"
What do you like best about Lever?

Customer support used to be good but not anymore in 2020. You can expect a response maybe once a week.

What do you dislike about Lever?

Website has been lagging a lot at times (even though status says everything is working). Reports about statistics etc are very confusing to the point we aren't using them almost at all. Missing customized features that I have emailed support about and they simply say it's something Lever is considering but not working on right now. Support doesn't want to deal with you and your issues. It has taken us 1,5 months to finish our contract

"An ATS, but too difficult to navigate"
What do you like best about Lever?

Lever is extremely user friendly so for a team of dispersed hiring managers across the country it's great to have something so intuitive.

What do you dislike about Lever?

- Reporting! You have to click 7+ times to just learn how long a role has been open - Resume Review - You can't flip through resumes - again - so many clicks! - Candidate Dispositions - If you reject a candidate for one role they are rejected for all roles they applied for - VERY FRUSTRATING and means a poor candidate experience

- Offer Approvals - Job Postings

"Not super satisfied"
What do you like best about Lever?

That it now connects with Linkedin Recruiter.

What do you dislike about Lever?

That resumes from email can't be parsed. That it's not more user friendly. That it doesn't interact well with other programs. I've yet to find the reporting feature. That when I have a question/concern I don't have a personal account troubleshooting person to reach out to. That when I do have an issue it has taken days for someone to get back. It also seems that not many people there understand the system and it's capabilities.

"Lever Review"
What do you like best about Lever?

I like the ability to use the email templates. Within the email templates you can insert the job, company, phone number, employee name etc. and that is very helpful with efficiency and automating emailing multiple candidates.

What do you dislike about Lever?

I overall am not a fan of Lever. I dislike the way Lever is set u with the dashboard. I also have had a lot of issues with my emails in Lever, I don't get them or candidates don't get them, sometimes they come to Outlook sometimes they don't. I also don't like how extremely difficult it is to get someone at Lever to get on the phone with you and speak with you. They send videos or links to answer you questions but never take the time to get on the phone with you, even as a new customer. Very difficult to learn only with videos and links.

What problems is Lever solving and how is that benefiting you?

I have more problems than benefits when using Lever. Emailing and not being able to work with a real person are my main issues. I appreciate the ability to automate more than I could before.

"Poor user experience "
What do you like best about Lever?

Lever does a good job of visualizing the stage of interviews for candidates very well (First Round, Second Round, Offer Stage etc) as long as you keep the process moving.

What do you dislike about Lever?

- Searchability for candidates. It is hard to look back on past candidates based on criteria like Location, Keywords and more. Easier to use Lever as a tool for seeing candidates who have recently applied. - Scheduling candidates for interviews is difficult - Easybook links should have a limit on how many interviews any individual can have scheduled on their calendar in one day. Oftentimes I am having to block out my entire personal calendar after 4+ have been scheduled to prevent more additions. - The smart scheduling tool for panel interviews autocorrects itself once a new time has been selected. It would be useful to hold times for one interviewer (locking) and scheduling around that person

None at this point

"Huge shortcomings - would never recommend "
What do you like best about Lever?

Email integration and LinkedIn integration are decent (the second of which does not work as well as it should be).

What do you dislike about Lever?

Lack of mobile app, lack of two way calendar integration, no app review, terrible click-intensive workflows, connectivity issues (it is 2019 by the way), lack of ability to add your own archive reasons, etc Way, way worse than Greenhouse. Does not feel like it was designed by anyone who has ever done recruiting.

What problems is Lever solving and how is that benefiting you?

Not solving any problems - it is creating more problems for me.
