"A simple way to deliver fast"
What do you like best about OutSystems?

Easy to use, with complex components already built in. The capacity of using javascript to extend functionalities places this platform far ahead of the competition.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

Typical programmers tend to dislike visual programming at first. It's only after working for few weeks on it that people will realize how pre-built components and connectors can speed up delivery.

What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?

With Oustystems we can help organizations develop skills to become actors in their solutions. As a result, our customers can have better control, which overall leads better success.

It creates a platform for people in the actual business (so not IT) to develop apps specially tailored to their needs.

The high paywall in the licensing format. The upfront costs are pretty high.

Would like to quickly develop small applications tailored to the business' day to day needs.

"Good Front End, Good Back End, Mediocre Integrations, Very Predatory Pricing Model"
What do you like best about OutSystems?

The product is excellent for UI dev, and the platform servers are rock solid - great even. Excellent rapid prototyping tool with a very solid TSM program to enable standup.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

Everything between the UI (excellent) and platform server (solid product) is do-it-yourself nonsense getting into varying degrees of vaporware. We figured it out, but the tooling has a big gap for actual enterprise development. The changes in pricing are predatory bordering on theft. It was nearly overpriced even before the huge rate hikes. They tout it as "anyone can code" but when you bring them problems they say "you should be better at coding" instead of putting guard rails and real quality gates into the product. It's on you to make it work not them.

What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?

Reactive Web application development

"Is too slow to publish. Compared to instant reload of normal web development"
What do you like best about OutSystems?

Entity management works really well and when all your code is outsystems and no integrations. Then it works alright

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

That you need to publish to see changes in client. It has to be hot reload. And they need to add local environments. We use on prem and its terrible when you are more that 5 people working in same area/block

What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?

It helps solve a complex over the counter application. But it is a struggle whenever we need some non standard functionality

"Great Platform, depending on the price"
What do you like best about OutSystems?

Great platform, easy to learn and use. We've been able to produce almost 100 in-house applications with very few team members.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

Price, a 500% increase from one year to the next with less than 30 days notice before renewal. Was told they would just walk away from a legal contract, does not give a customer any level of comfort.

What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?

With the ability to rapidly develop applications and intergrate them with other non-outsystems applications, it has proven to be a very benificial tool.

- No code branches. - Data entity refactoring. - Deployment process (tricks). - Cannot control DB on cloud environments. - Customization.

What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?

It helps to launch business solutions quickly for the first stage but becomes complex when customizations are required as time goes on.

"Honest Opinion of Outsystems"
What do you like best about OutSystems?

User - interface of Service studio is simple , Efficient and easy to use and the predefined templates and widgets , built- in functions are very much useful for creating mobile applications and responsive web applications with less time which is far better than traditional raw coding.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

The one click publish sometimes not working properly.for example sometimes outsystems misses some small CSS changes eventhough that is properly merged and published

What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?

Outsystems has been improving on its UI components quite regularly and adding new widgets like datepicker range which helps me to develop applications which are up to date

"OutSystems Low Code"
What do you like best about OutSystems?

The only thing I can say that is good about OutSystems is their community forum. And the skill base is very minimal. you will struggle to find developers who can help you with OutSystems. Never mind finding a good developer. Finding any developer you will struggle. (Depending on what country you situated in)

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

I really don't like OutSystems at all. Low code is a joke. Low code is a marketing term to attract non technical people. As a full time developer who has worked extensively with OutSystems in an enterprise environment I can tell you now that Low Code platforms are are going to make your development time longer when you have to build complex applications or any advanced systems. Out of the box OutSystems has features that are broken. Such as their carousel or button groups or the below error that randomly pops up when it feels like it. With no information to debug the problem. Sometimes you will get a popup error in the middle of development and it will say error with no reason for the error. And all your unpublished work gets deleted even if you select their recover module button, your work state is not recovered. Apart from that they charge an arm and a leg for their software when something like Flutter and Dart is Free. Low code is for the lazy people who think they can get away with cheap or easy development. It will cost you more in the end and it will take you longer to build your systems when they start to get advanced. I highly highly recommend you stay away from any low code platforms. But if you don't want to listen please by all means use it, you will regret it down the line. It may seem cool in the beginning until you have things that are not working and you a have to wait for the product owners to get back to you. What happens when your systems go down. They will remain down until someone get's back to you. And even feedback is slow and what happens if you happen to have 90,000 plus customers trying to use your software. Low code is dangerous. So you put your company risk.

What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?

I am building application capture forms for a company with thousands of clients. 90,000 upwards I believe. For confidentiality purposes I'd rather not mention the companies name as it may not exactly be legal for me to mention who they are.
