Workable Pros and Cons
- Easy to use with lots of amazing functions.
- Simplistic and easy to understand.
- Easy to accidentally email the wrong candidates.
- Difficult cusomter service.
Compare Workable with other popular tools in the same category.
The Automation tool in candidate communication helps us to promote a better candidate experience
The filters. Its limited and you have to pay an extra for automatic tagging
Candidate Management
Very easy and intuitive to use. Effective in results provided and very nice to share researches with colleagues. Practical to organize agenda and tasks with candidates
Could be easier to extract candidates from previous researches. Would be nice to have somewhere a list of researches already done from which to take examples of job ads
Find candidates and posting in multiple platforms. Reaching passive candidates founded with ai and search engine people search. Reaching via email or phone passive candidates
It is very easy to use and intuitive which is very important if you want to engage very busy people in recruiting. Recruitment processes are quick to set up. Unlike many competitors, it is very easy to manage users and their permissions. I also like the autimated sourcing function. The application is also very stable - I haven't experienced any downtime or major technical issues during 6 months of use.
There are quite a few small issues eg. while setting up an email template for an interview invite you cannot set a title in the template. I have a feeling that reports/analytics functionality could be better - more customizable. Interview scorecards could also be more customizable. The customer service is not always great. It's hard to reach them on a call and I had to do long back-and-forth mailing for them to explain some functionality to me. While doing this the CS agent messed up something in my user settings that I discovered after a while. This would not happen if the CS agent was available for a 5 min call.
It helps manage and keep track of multiple recruitment processes. Enables a recruiter to be accountable to business stakeholders. It automates many actions which is crucial if, like me, you are a single recruiter in a company.
It's very helpful in managing both our financial headcount forecast and our interview process from beginning to end. Also a fantastic tool for evaluating candidates after individual interviews, utilizing a wide range of either custom or pre-built scorecards which can be utilized by all levels of hiring managers and hiring team members involved in a search. Reporting is also top-notch.
I have complained about this many times, and I believe it's something the Workable team is currently working to improve, but the current search and filter capabilities within the 'Candidates' tab, which houses all candidates who exist in our system already (not new passive candidates we are looking to engage for the first time) is pretty terrible. No ability to use boolean search to find resumes which align with certain position requirements.
As mentioned above, I believe the search capabilities when trying to find applicants from previous pipelines / previously engaged candidates are getting a new, fresh interface. Hopefully this solves our current frustration in this dept.
Very user-friendly. The platform is used by a client to register potential candidates. I am a service provider. First time used it a couple of years' ago. No training was needed for me. Able to navigate the site readily.
Nothing comes to mind immediately. So far, good.
Candidate feedback from Client is on time. No need to follow-up with the client, saves time and energy.
I like that with Workable I can access a number of posting websites but only have to post once.
I wish that once I posted that my job would stay at the top of the search function like with a sponsored job
I am able to find good candidates for the jobs I am recruiting for. If I don't fill a job, at least I have options with good candidates I might now otherwise see.
What I really like is the interaction with other people at different departments in the company. The recruitment process is very active: you can check candidates, send notifications to other mates, wait fro their answer, start a active communication with the candidate, and integrate it with your HR tool
Maybe the price, is very expensive for the complete control
We noticed that the collaboration with different departments was very active and the filters, information and comments you can leave there... it's a very active process with all the people involved in the recruitment process.
easy to use, easy to add hiring mangers onto the platform and choose their permissions. Nice sorting functions for candidates. Curious to see what their reporting functions look like.
Hibob integration broken. AI Recruiter doesn't produce good candidates. Often JD doesn't paste well into the job posting format.
Housing our recruitment on one platform. Benefits don't see to be much different from other recruitment platforms.
We use Workable because we can affordably share open jobs with the entire company, as well as use the referral functionality with ease. These features are helping us build our company!
Not a unique issue to Workable, but the location-based features are limited. In some cases, we want to post a job to Location A or Location B (and sometimes include remote options). Almost every APS I've seen doesn't allow for multiple locations (I do not mean anywhere), likely due to limitations with paid ads.
Hiring in two countries! We have a few small office locations, but we've embraced the remote workstyle and nearly everyone loves it. Workable helps us locate/refer and bring on great talent, regardless of where we are (and where they are).
The portal is easy to use, manage, and edit. I was able to navigate on my own and learn it easily.
Theres no real complaints with Workable.
The problems we are solving are not finding the right candidates. Which is a huge benefit in itself.
The ability to see work, CV, portfolio, comments from all hiring managers, book interviews directly. Everything.
It's not the prettiest of user interfaces and the UX can be a bit challenging at times.
Hiring and centralising the entire process.
There is a clear process that you can define, for example Phone Screen > Assessment > Interview > Offer. It's easy to move candidates through the process and see the history of all their touch points with your hiring team. The feature I like best is the ability to schedule a multi-part interview with different members of your hiring team. It compares times with their calendar so you know when they're available. Afterwards it collects feedback from your team members (both a "definitely/yes/no" vote and a qualitative input), but automatically hides other people's feedback from each person until they've submitted theirs, so as not to allow their feedback to be swayed by someone else's. And the interface is very easy to use, so bringing new interviewers into the fold doesn't require much training or effort.
One annoyance I have is that it seems like you have to have a pretty high permission set in order to be able to update your email templates. As in, even being a hiring manager for a role doesn't permit you to update the templates. And that can defeat the whole purpose of having templates as you then have to copy+paste your own personal note every time you're emailing people, or you have to ask your site's Super Admin to update them for you each time.
We use Workable as our primary way to source, filter, and track all of our job applicants. To start, at the click of a button it will post our job openings on many boards instantly and start bringing in applicants. And once we start working with applicants, it helps with tracking our correspondence with them, scheduling phone screens and interviews, and recording internal notes and evaluations. I honestly couldn't imagine tracking applicants without a tool like Workable.
Workable is user-friendly. It's easy to create a job, create the workflow, post the job, etc. I also like that the application is simplistic, which enhances the candidate experience.
I wish Workable would remind interviewers of any outstanding evaluations needed on a candidate. I also wish I could limit who is able to view video interviews with their SparkHire integration. Last - the integration with Google Calendar isn't perfect. Especially if you use Google Hangouts. I can work around the pain points of the Google Calendar integration, but it would be nice if I didn't have to create workarounds.
We were using Google Hire for our ATS. The product was discontinued by Google. Workable was the most comparable in terms of tools and pricing. Overall we are happy with Workable.
Getting very good experienced candidates
Showing same candidates more time so it making me confuse
Best candidates with great experience
Workable has been a good and handy ATS solution for us from a scale of 50 to 1000 engineers. We have not used other products like recruitment marketing and video interviews. + complete feature set + easy to use core functionality + good price for small companies + API for custom use-cases
- counter-intuitive enterprise reporting (generating informative reports is hard for a company of +1000 people, depends on how you use the tool) - non-customizable job description pages - a bit expensive for large companies
We are using Workable as our ATS solution for a large IT company. We publish job positions, manage hiring process and communiccation with candidates. Intuitive and handy Applicant Tracking process inside the product has played a key role reducing hiring cost in our company.
The implementation process was a breeze! The system itself is pretty intuitive which has been nice when rolling this out to the company.
The system offers a bit too much transparency when it comes to having other interviewers besides hiring managers within the system. I wish there was a way to limit what folks see in the system.
It has made our hiring process move at a much quicker rate. It is also great to see the different job boards it integrates with and I love the reporting feature.
Accessibility of any candidate details UI, Ease of usage
The candidate skills can b shown in more highlights, or matching keywords can be shown in more highlights. UI can be simplified to have less but the important info about candidates
Hiring employees Time saving as all details and timelines are at one place.
It's super easy to navigate and simple to use
I don't believe there is an auto reject function based on screening questions. This would be really useful. I'd also change the "definitely" button on the evaluation to a "maybe" as this is more useful IMO
Global multi role hiring
It is easy to collaborate and share notes with the recruiting team and other stakeholders.
The optics on "screening, sent, sourced' pages" don't allow the hiring manager to see if a candidate was disqualified already based on the requirements of the position.
It has been a great tool to me to have high visibility into the recruiting process and allows me to co-track applicants through the process.
I find the commenting feature to be perfect for a remote team trying to interview and hire for new candidates. I also love how organized all of the candidates are in on place.
I wish the functions of disqualifying candidates were more clear and when candidates were disqualified they dropped out of the pipeline. I also wish there were ways to ensure no bias when interviewing candidates.
We are trying to solve for hiring around the world for various roles remotely. I have realized that hiring can be done entirely remote without ever having to touch base in person.
The ability to communicate with potential candidates via messaging
Candidates that don’t fit the criteria of the position that apply for all positions available
The ability to have a great workflow through the hiring process
We can define custom steps for candidates, also candidate management from end to end is very intuitive. Different roles can be assigned to different groups of people which helps in managing access and only giving out required information to each group of users.
The UI seems a bit old at times, and clunky in some cases. The search doesn't work always. Errors are not always right and don't tell you exactly what went wrong.
Managing interviews for all the candidates, tracking their current state, evaluations and hiring process until they join the organization.
Very intuitive to use and easy to manage
Not many functions available, more should be implemented
Shortlisting candidates
Cloning jobs is quick, the application form can be customized for every job, and requirements can be inserted as application questions in a single click. I created the majority of jobs for my company on behalf of leadership - Workable saves me loads of time, every time.
Location functionality, but this is NOT limited to Workable (it's a challenge with every ATS we've used). A specific location must be selected for every job, which is needed for advertising - however, we have some roles that could be filled at any of our locations. The options are to create multiple versions of the same job (extra cost), or leaving out the location (we cannot advertise locally). Not a deal-breaker, but this either adds cost or complicates the assessment process.
Posting jobs quickly for crucial roles we need to fill. Even promoting to the free job boards that Workable connects to help us find more candidates, though paid advertising generates many more leads.
The system is relatively easy to use, there's logic to the steps and the stages. Calendar invite/email features work well. Ease of shifting candidates from stages or to other Reqs is relatively easy as well.
There are a few "little" things that would ne nice to haves be able to change. I'd like to be able to update calendar/call templates, or be able to attach a document to a Requisition, not just a candidate. Would also be nice to edit system settings so that evaluations don't also require a comment in order to be saved. There are a few things like that that would be "nice" simple additions that would make my rating a 10.
Keeping track of candidates and requisitions has been good, also getting buy in from hiring managers to get into the system to support their hiring processes has been easier with the system than with systems i've used in the past.
I love the look of the platform and general usability--this has been great!
There are aspects we are still getting used to not having from GHire such as automatic reminders to review candidates, the ability to archive jobs and automatically hide past reviews of candidates, etc. The requisitions can be a little weird too--it is required to move forward with a hire but isn't required before making a job!
We have not really had a ton of problems, but love the ease of use!
All the candidates from all job sites in one place. Easy to see where every candidate is in the process at a glance. Ability to block email multiple candidates the same email.
Search function for searching for candidates can be slow at times.
Two different search tabs for candidates is helpful and speeds up process.
Super easy to navigate, no need to instruct Hiring Managers how to do it!
Works very slow. Generic email addresses: candidates hate it. Not possible to unread a message in Inbox. Often cracks when working on email templates and message doesn't save.
Ensuring great candidate experience.
I like how organized everything is on the site. I have my jobs open with the candidates in clearly indicated on the website, don't need to go searching too hard to find whatI need.
It doesn't integrate the best with my google calendar and other apps such as zoom
Its easier to keep track of communication with candidates all in one place, Workable. I can keep a clear chronological order of candidates path down the interview process.
Relatively easy to use, and annotate feedback on candidates from hiring team.
Some issues with tracking and filtering candidates
one place to view all applicants and provide feedback
