Compare Adobe Illustrator with other popular tools in the same category.
Adobe Illustrator is a powerful tool for all things vector. Whether designing complete brand packages or setting up complex print projects, Illustrator has the tools you need to get it done well. In my manufacturing environment, we even use Illustrator as a go-between for the creative and manufacturing departments, processing graphics into CAD-ready files for our engineering team.
One of the frustrations between Adobe tools is that the apps share about 90% of the same shortcuts and systems, but the other 10 are vastly different. Simple things like artboard function, tool differences, and even layer panels can get frustrating when frequently switching between Photoshop and Illustrator, but something to keep an eye out for and get used to.
We utilize Illustrator to make sure all large format, print, or "template" documents are always delivered in the highest quality possible. Creative Cloud has allowed my team to share files, sync changes, and collaborate effectively.
I love the versatility you have with Illustrator. You can flip from text heavy to image heavy. There is almost unlimited flexibility. There is never a worry about "creating at a certain resolution". Vector is perfect for all things printing...from a billboard to a small label or business card.
The change made in the last couple of years to "type on a path" is not a good one. it's more difficult to use. Shadows need serious help in Illustrator. They are not very smooth and are too often pixelated.
Almost all of my designs are created in Illustrator. I love that I can fully customize layouts, as well as creating logos for my clients. Setting up a complicated custom presentation box or a simple 3.5" x 2" business card is so easy. Layers are brilliant for building a "template" to make sure you see edges of the finished project, which all allows you to design perfectly for any project you have.
The program is very versatile. You can do a large range of things. Design work, pdf editing a lots more.
I can't think of anything that I dislike. All good.
Design work. Program is easy to use.
I've been using adobe products since a long time now, and as any other adobe software, illustrator is easy to learn an operate. The learning curve is pretty fast then any other vector software.
The fact that illustrator is not used commercially for printing purposes send illustrator files have to be converted in coral files is kinda disappointing. Which needs to be improved.
As an architect I've been using illustrator for all my graphic design projects. From business cards to huge wall arts, illustrator gets me a wicket design in greatest quality.
While I was using other softwares in the past, I realized that the issue I was having was to keep quality while scaling. With Adobe Illustrator I was able to scale to any size, without having the trouble of an artwork being blurred or of poor quality. I love the layer's features as well as the ability to do layer masks professionally.
Adobe Illustrator offers no free versions and businesses or startups with limited budgets might not be able to afford the monthly subscription. Also, it takes time to get acquainted with the tools and it is not as easy as the other Adobe products to use.
With Adobe Illustrator, we managed to have daily promotional campaigns on Facebook, illustrated with our templates built and customized within Adobe Illustrator. This gave us a professional image and helped us meet our sales and outreach goals.
The best part about the software is the features which are almost flawless for each task execution and as time goes by with more updates it could be seen that the software experience has severely upgraded enabling its users to do the highly intensive tasks within a couple of minutes or seconds.
In spite of being one of my favorite software that I have been using on a constant basis for designing various work, I have faced a lot of issues regarding the compatibility of the newer versions on the older PCs or laptops. but i do understand the graphics content has severely upgraded no one sticks to some pretty normal task.
Being a daily user of the software in my personal life for producing various vectorized portraits I often use features of the software and am constantly eager to know of the various limits of it. I often come across various bugs which I constantly report and help suggest some alternative approach in feedback.
It has a great User Interface and User Experience. Therefore, I am easily doing whatever I want, without losing my scope in the interface of the application. I love getting exports with this application because it is pretty easy.
I am using macOS. Recently, I come across some buggy behaviors. For instance, while I do right click event, it always appears on the left bottom side of the window and this slows me down while editing my project.
When I need to edit SVGs, compose PNGs etc., Adobe Illustrator becomes the best solution for me. I can easily change shape, edit color and export the format and scale I want easily.
I like that it is the cutting edge software when it comes to creating and editing vector graphics. Adobe is always thinking of new ways to improve this program.
The subscription cost is too high for the products. I wish they kept the one-time purchase option from years ago.
Creating and editing vector graphics.
The capacity of creating printable vector graphics and illustrations. This software is largely used by graphic designers throughout the world. New 3D settings which were introduced in their latest update is too good.
There is nothing such as dislike. But I would like to see some improvements in the software. Like in some cases when I try to scale the objects, instead of scaling it rotates.
With Adobe Illustrator I create Advertising campaigns for B2B and B2C clients. I provide full branding solutions with the support of this software. This helps the companies to beautify their brand and create an impactful image among their competitors.
I have been using Adobe illustrator for quite a while now and I must say this is an amazing tool for an artist. I really love how easy and simple it is if someone have previously used Photoshop.
The thinking I dislike about it is the updates there are few major bugs and company isn't focusing on solving them. It's a real pain TBh
I'm a designer so i create illustrations and vector arts that's it
