Unparalleled tools for high volume batch photo processing when under a deadline, Adobe Lightroom sets the design and media gold standard for both my on location and studio style shoots. It's processing tools are at the core of my still media workflow.
It can be very processor intensive, and as a result, you need hardware that can keep up.
I'm able to exert more edits in a smaller portions of time by batch processing and using scripts to handle my big move edits. From there, I can choose to get as granular with the media as I see fit.
It is one of the best editing tools, perfect to edit any photo in a few minutes, is easier to use than Photoshop, and it has a mobile app.
You cant use the mobile apps if you dont use Lightroom CC.
It let me edit my photos in any place with it mobile app.
I love the purpose of it! It is so easy to use!
honestly, there is nothing I can think of.
I do a lot of design, and photography. It is the best program for photo editing out there!
I love the way that I can create beautiful photos and customize every detail.
I wish I could import transparent PNG files so when I do my graphic design work I can use Lightroom too.
A business problem that I am solving with Lightroom is the ability to create presets that I can, therefore, sell online to my customers. There are so many benefits to Lightroom such as creating beautiful images and organizing them in Lightroom the way I need them to be,
Lightroom is simply the best software out there for editing the lighting in your photos. There's a reason why Adobe is always the go-to for image editing software. Before using Lightroom, I wondered why my photos just didn't seem to capture the vibrance of the real world that I was experiencing. Lightroom allowed me to fix this, and with some truly impressive editing tools create the photos that I'd always hoped I would be able to capture.
This is a con but also a pro. There are so many options in Lightroom (and all Adobe editing software), that it can be overwhelming. However, once you get adjusted to some of the features, it can become second nature. I'm thankful to have more options as opposed to less, as I'm always a google search away from figuring what I need due to Adobe's vast resources. The subscription however is a little expensive, so I only subscribe when I need it for a project.
As a software and website developer I wanted to be able to incorporate my own images to give them a professional touch. With Lightroom I was able to professionally edit my photos to give an upgraded sense of quality.
Incredibly simple interface. Catalogs all my photos. Reminds me to back up my catalogs.
Can get slow when editing large numbers of files. Adobe's supprt is never great, it's generally the forum users that resolve issues.
Lightroom isn't just a photo editing software. Lightroom is an entire catalog system for your photos, and it grows as you grow. Switching drives? No problem, you can copy an entire catalog. Want to have multiple back ups of your catalogs? No problem, Lightroom can create them for you (in fact it will remind you to do so). Lightroom can handle everything from Import and catalog, to editing, to print and delivery (both digitally AND via tie ins with popular photobook services). Every update has added features that Either I have wondered if they would add, or I didn't even think about wanting. Lightroom is a focus for Adobe, and it shows with every update they release. Well thought out, but also considering what the users say they want and need, not just what they think we need.
With Lightroom, you can create collections, add keywords, move multiple files around your hard drive, create slideshows, print books, and share your photos directly to Facebook with relative ease. You can also use both Lightroom and Photoshop together because they integrate quite well together
I dislike that it does not integrate with iPhoto.
Lightroom is the future. Lightroom empowers you to make amazing photos , from anywhere. And you can edit your full- resolution photos anywhere, on mobile devices and from the web
I like how easy it is for someone who is not a pro to use it, as I wasn't trained & I am good at it
It needs some improvement, pin tool, for example, would be very useful in such program
None
The user interface is extremely inviting and easy to use. A quick five minute YouTube video will set you off on the right path and before you know it, you're editing the night away. You can easily edit multiple files and move between photos with ease. For all the wedding and product photographers out there, this makes life a breeze. Additionally, the lens calibration is nice to have. This is also in Photoshop, but it helps to correct any lens distortion that has taken place with automatic presets for your specific camera and lens. For a beginner, this is a huge plus.
Very few things to complain about here. The only thing that can cause some hiccups with me is not having enough room to see the file paths. If you have a large number of folders or accessing something like a company network drive, the screen can become crowded at times.
Lightroom is a lightweight solution compared to Photoshop. It makes making small adjustments to photos, that are needed, quick and painless. There's no need to go through an extensive process to change the white balance. Rather, it's a quick one and done if that's all that's needed.
It is very user friendly. Can be used in the simplest editing ways to advanced marketing techniques.
There are a lot of aspects that I don't use with lightroom. Maybe more tutorials on how to use more of the product would help
Being a photojournalist I have to edit images quickly, Lightroom allows me to do this and even batch edit like images.
I like how easy it is to adjust the white balance in photos. I like that you can compare the original photo with your new changes with one click. I like that the changes you implement for photos don't apply to the original until you export it (and save as a new copy). I also like the ability to mass-edit and save editing 'templates' - that is, if you took a hundred photos with the exact same lighting, then with one click of a button you can apply your edits to all of the photos.
The constant synchronizing of folders can be annoying. I wish it were in sync with my digital assets.
It's just way easier to edit photos without having to bust open Photoshop and do complicated things.
I like the organized workflow Lightroom provides. Very user friendly and allows one to easily and professionally edit images.
At the moment, there is nothing that stands out that I dislike about the program. It would, however, be beneficial if there were more filetype options for exporting images (eps, for example).
Lightroom allows me to quickly and easily sort through a large volume of images, choose and organize the ones I'd like to use, edit them, and export them for a variety of purposes (social media, menus, posters, signs).
The ease of use and tools to enhance photos is awesome. Their new SAAS platform has now made it more affordable then ever.
I wish there were a little more options to manipulate photos without having to open Photoshop
We can quickly enhance and publish photos so that images can look clear and colorful.
I love that his program makes it almost unnecessary to use Photoshop with most images. If I can bring in photos that are solid out of camera, this program is perfect for lighting adjustments, balancing, and some light correcting. It’s fast, organized, and easy to navigate.
I don’t really dislike anything. It’s a great program.
Speed of editing solves MANY problems. Time is money, and this saves so much time.
As a professional; photographer my time in front of my computer needs to be short, so that I can shoot more. This is exactly why I love Lightroom... easy, simple, and POWERFUL.
Some of the the hot keys are not as easy to use... the graduated filter takes a SHIFT+ key to bring up... I want it to just be a letter. Other than that, the system has just about everything I coulsd want... if I need more, I can go to photoshop! ;)
Time. Time. Time. Lightroom save me HOURS of time from every shoot I do...
Lightroom gives you the ability to add different camera effects to your photos after they've been taken. You can download different add-ons, presets, and filters for your photos to apply to your photos as well. It's very easy to undo a change if you decide you aren't pleased with the result.
The sorting options for your files can be a little tricky at times. It sometimes takes me a few minutes to find one photo. When using a preset, you get a preview of what the new effect will look like, but it's very small. I wish they would apply the preview to the screen rather than just the thumbnail, so you can get a better idea.
I use a lot of photos for online ads, and Lightroom gives me the ability to take photos and make them really pop on the screen. I'm able to take photos shot from an iPhone and mimic the effects and attributes of a DSLR, making them appear to be of even higher quality. It really expands the availability and selection of photos we can use for advertising, since we can make the photos we have available already look even better. Great for our marketing budget!
I love this software! I've been able to do great work with photos videos and other medias using it.
It isn't as user friendly as I would like.
It has a great result when you finish your project! No physical business problems
I love that I can edit a full photography session in a few hours. I really like photoshop but lightroom is just quicker.
Some features like "changing backgrounds" and "fixing bad lighting" are easier to do in photoshop
My workflow is a lot faster
Lightroom is great for beginners and advanced photographers alike. It is easy to use and has great options for editing photos and getting the desired look.
I dislike that I have to export from Lightroom and then open a lot of my photos in Photoshop to continue editing certain things, i.e. clone stamp tool to remove or cover things in photos.
I am constantly using Lightroom to solve problems with photos that arose when they were shot, whether it was the lighting, exposure, etc.
As someone who is not a professional photographer but needs to produce quality photos for clients, this is the best possible tool I could be using. Lightroom is easy to navigate and easy to learn. Vastly more photo editing customization and features than Photoshop, which is what I was using previously. I also love the side-by-side comparison feature.
It can be difficult to organize the library into an easy to navigate structure that makes sense to the user. Compared to other Adobe products, there aren't many new features or updates as one might expect. The program has remained largely the same since I began using it in 2015.
Quick and consistent editing when producing finished photos from a large shoot. It couldn't be easier to give a large folder of photos consistent editing treatment.
