I love Lightroom and tend to do most of my editing in here. It gives me the ability to turn a photo into what I see in my head. Boosting and embracing my creativity.
Having to have the photos on hand to be able to use the develop setting means using a lot of space and it also occasionally crashes but thats worth it for me!
Developing RAW images and giving them the look I envisioned
Adobe Lightroom makes it extremely easy to improve and touch up photos, giving the user the ability to adjust and fine tune exposure, temperature, highlights, saturation, tone curve, etc. There are a ton of presets available online that make improvements a simple click. If you don't like the way something looks, you can simply undo the change. Lightroom is also available as an mobile app, which makes working between your phone and your desktop a breeze.
As with most Adobe products, there is a steep learning curve, but Adobe provides great support videos. There are also a lot of tutorials available online.
Adobe Lightroom allows us to improve and salvage a lot of photos that we would have to waste time and reshoot otherwise.
I like the fact that there are many nice default presets and on top of that, you can also create and modify your own. Easier to use than Photoshop! I only focus on the overall color and atmosphere when it comes to my pics, so lightroom works best for me.
Hmmm, I wish it was cheaper or at least there was a perpetual license purchasing option, rather than a monthly fee, which after a couple years ends up more expensive than how much it used to cost for a perpetual license before.
To immediately attract the viewers when they look at my photos. It's easy to use, process a heavy load of photos, and quickly produce high quality after-edit products.
the unique experience to be able to edit photos with such refined filters and tools
I dislike that I have to pay for it monthly
Having a broader spectrum of photo editing ability
The user interface in Lightroom allows you to feel in control of each aspect of editing. It's clean, easy to use, and becomes part of your own process.
Comparing your edits to the original photo can be a hassle, but it's a nice integration.
Working on a college campus, photos are being taken all the time. Lightroom makes it so easy to upload, organize and categorize every photo the way I need it done. AND it does this automatically while doing the editing I would need to do already.
Lightroom is great and super easy to use.
I don’t really dislike anything about Lightroom.
Lightroom is quick and easy to use. We are able to quickly edit photos.
Lightroom Adobe in the 1 software that fits nearly all needs of the photographic industry. It allows comprehensive storage and management of assets, easy batch meta-data editing, new mobile app allows easy use and flexibility in workflow and a large ability to be highly customizable.
Due to Adobe's new subscription-based payment plans, it seems likely the software will be unable to be purchased as a stand-alone product without an annual subscription. However, at this stage, a single product for a set price is still available and frequently updated.
Photo asset management issues have all but dissolved. Shared albums with colleagues and other project contributors.
Non-destructive manipulation of graphic content. Saves space and allows granular stepping back of individual manipulations not necessarily in sequence.
The concept of source storage and libraries is counter intuitive. The product is currently split to two different variants of interface, one more fitting mobile device and cross platform usage, and another a more desktop based classic graphic power-engine. Hopefully those will be reconciled in next upgrade.
Graphic manipulation for publications, and online media.
I prefer to use this program when editing a bunch of photos at once. You can save settings for the photos you’ve taken at the same ISO, aperture, etc and it come out looking just right.
There’s a lot of ugly filters that’s really unnecessary and most wont be used.
To batch edit for large projects for clients. When numerous photos are involved it just lightens the load.
How easily and quickly can edit my photographs
There is nothing I dislike about this program
Adjusting site photos
Professional use that isn't too complicated for people who are just starting out
Wish it wasn't separate, wish photoshop just included some of the same tools natively
Professional photo editing in house
Lightroom has a lot more options than camera which is the other software that I use. Light room has more options and choices.
Definitely expert level options which means you need to know and understand the software to use it. Not WYSIWYG.
Speed - I can quickly take photos from a photo shoot and manipulate them and get them print ready within minutes using lightroom presets.
Prior to using Lightroom my only experience with photo editing software was Photoshop elements I took my business to the next level and felt the need to take my editing and sorting abilities' to the next level too. With very little use of the internet I've quickly been able to figure out the basics of Lightroom.
The creation and saving of events to separate files is cumbersome and I feel the exporting could run smoother/more seamlessly.
The ability to sort my photots beyond good and bad but actually grade them 1-5 and then to be able to set pre-set for all of my shots with the same lighting/development issues.
The simplisty and depth of Lightroom is such a releif from editing in photoshop. It allows you to create your own presents, then use that preset to mass edit an entire shoot. Then, you can go through and do minor edits within the software. While I am currently working with lightroom 4 - I still love all of it's features.
The subscription requirement for lightroom makes it unrealistic for me long term. I do a lot of work internationally, and cannot guarantee the ability to finance adobe longterm. By the end of the year, I have paid for the old Lightroom 4 three times over, and that is simply not realistic for a freelancer who uses photography as a side income.
Time management, and the ability to use the free cell phone app for basic edits. I do highly recommend a way to attach your lightroom presets to the adobe app - currently I have to copy and past from images that I already edited on my computer.
Great program. Allows us to streamline our workflow and library for our business.
Sometimes the program is quite slow in some of its actions.
Speed, efficiency, production
It is part of the Adobe CC suite so I get it along with other great apps. Adobe is the leader in professional photography and Lightroom doesn't dissapoints.
Sometimes can be buggy especially with large libraries or large files
Photo image manager, simple photo editing and camera raw adjustments
While it may look overwhelming, Lightroom is very easy to use and I appreciate that.
I dislike the process of importing photos to lightroom, I wish it was just an open option like every other Adobe product.
Lightroom helps where Photoshop cannot. It makes it easier to manipulate a photo to the smallest increment, and although Photoshop has the option as well, it's not as in depth.
How fast the program is and the ability to create and store presets. So my photos look like my photos.
Understanding Catalog methodology can be a bit of a learning curve. I am not crazy excited about how they're really pushing users to their mobile platform and application.
Ability to batch edit, and export photos is a killer time saver.
I love that I can fix exposure issues in no time.
I dislike that sometimes when I am uploading a big folder it can take some time to get started.
I realize that if the lighting is not exactly perfect on my image instead having to redo an entire shoot I can simply go into Lightroom and adjust the setting perfectly to make the image what I was wanting.
