"Smart platform, but not perfect yet"
What do you like best about MarketMuse?

I really like the approach MarketMuse takes in helping content marketers identify topics and intent as opposed to just keywords. In our space, intent can be tricky around certain keywords and MarketMuse has done a relatively good job of helping us make the best possible decisions with some articles.

What do you dislike about MarketMuse?

The user experience is a little clunky and confusing. After spending enough time with it (and watching lots of tutorial videos), I've figured out a way to best use the platform that's quick and relatively painless. Also, if you're in a niche industry like the one I do content marketing for, the briefs are not always the best. This is definitely a great platform for SaaS companies that offer something specific, like tax software, or HR software. It's not as good for industries that are in manufacturing.

What problems is MarketMuse solving and how is that benefiting you?

Some of the best benefits (which solve problems) are the questions MarketMuse provides, which are often used as subheads and in FAQs of articles and landing pages. The 'Compete' module is also helpful in including keywords and phrases in the article that aim to outrank the competition. You won't see immediate results, but a recent blog post I published using MarketMuse from start to finish has already garnered about 1,000 impressions and a handful of organic clicks in the first couple of days, which is encouraging.

Marketmuse is one of the tools I use to research and create content. The AI is great so I also use it to optimize our existing content. It's a great tool to have in your toolbox if you're a writer. The ContentBrief is one of it best features and makes it worth the money.

What do you dislike about MarketMuse?

I don't have any complaints about the platform. It's very easy to use.

"Great tool for helping our content team optimize their articles"
What do you like best about MarketMuse?

The public link sharing feature allows me to quickly generate a link that I can send to our freelancers, allowing them to quickly understand how to optimize their articles.

What do you dislike about MarketMuse?

There isn't an easy way to manage a list of keywords for which you want to generate articles on the regular, you have to go through the steps each time for each set of keywords

What problems is MarketMuse solving and how is that benefiting you?

Giving our freelancers and other content contributors an easy and quantitative way to improve the quality of their articles.

"Helpful in Improving Google Search Rankings"
What do you like best about MarketMuse?

I use it primarily for optimizing. Helpful for giving insight on what subtopics within the main topic to cover.

What do you dislike about MarketMuse?

A bit oversimplified. Some of our content has a much higher content score than Market muse suggests is the target, yet it still doesn't rank well.

What problems is MarketMuse solving and how is that benefiting you?

Some of our content is ranking much higher.

"Content Optimization Enhancements"
What do you like best about MarketMuse?

I like the optimize tool as it helps to improve the relevance of any piece of content. Adding semantically related keywords has been extremely helpful.

What do you dislike about MarketMuse?

The tool seems not to work every once in a while, which is frustrating when I need to complete a content refresh.

What problems is MarketMuse solving and how is that benefiting you?

I'm trying to create more relevant content for my readers, which the optimize tool helps with.

"This will surely save your time and increase your productivity."
What do you like best about MarketMuse?

Using program features makes my workflow a lot less complicated, and it's easier for my writers to see their drafts online as they write. It's also great for describing and assigning short articles as I recognize what matters, how long the post should be and how many other important rivals accumulate.

What do you dislike about MarketMuse?

I haven't had any kind of bad experience with MarketMuse so far. Even when I was really worried about a little functionality or needed help building the Google Docs plugin, MarketMuse was very quick to provide me with incredible assistance.

What problems is MarketMuse solving and how is that benefiting you?

I saved countless hours creating descriptions for blog web content in my industry. In addition, it gave us devices to help find competitive search terms, revealing what searchers are looking for.

"A solid enterprise-grade SEO content tool"
What do you like best about MarketMuse?

MarketMuse has a lot of great data to work with and their applications allow you to review a target keyword across several different factors and gain more insight into creating SEO content that can rank. I appreciate that it can help with internal linking, competitor research, and keyword research.

What do you dislike about MarketMuse?

The credit structure/use is extremely cost-prohibitive for anyone that isn't an enterprise business. I had to do a lot of digging/asking questions to their customer support team to understand the nature of how plans worked and what was included — it's quite confusing. It's also confusing that MarketMuse is offering a lifetime deal to an audience of startup entrepreneurs when some of the best functionality relates to using several $100 credits per article. It's not something I can personally justify for every article I create for clients, as there would be no profit left for me. And SEO content is my main product offering! Of course, that's not an issue if you're an enterprise business with a big budget, I just don't understand going after a non-enterprise audience with similar terms for credit usage.

What problems is MarketMuse solving and how is that benefiting you?

I'm using MarketMuse to assist with keyword research/content briefing. It has helped me to better flesh out semantic keyword terms as well as better understand how to beat competitor content.

"MarketMuse gives us a process-driven way to deliver strong SEO results"
What do you like best about MarketMuse?

I love how they show us the frequency of topics both the average competitor and top of class use on a given keyword. That way, we can optimize the topics by examining the strengths of both types. I also appreciated how advanced SEO experts and beginners can easily use the dashboard and scoring methodology. Another benefit is that you can easily show the before and after benefit of leveraging Market Muse. Content is often subjective. By seeing the improvement in scores, Market Muse makes it easier for us to receive approvals.

What do you dislike about MarketMuse?

It doesn't work for every use-case. Perhaps a competitor's authority is too high to overcome, but sometimes the rankings we can't displace surprises me. There are a bunch of topics that don't seem relevant, but those are easy to weed out. I am not sure of the value of scoring the word count because Google algo's are constantly changing.

What problems is MarketMuse solving and how is that benefiting you?

Many of the keywords that our clients care about do not rank or rank on page 2 or below. We target striking distance keywords and improve the content score leveraging Market Muse. We have found a lot of head and long-tail keywords reach page 1 and move up within page 1. By reviewing the competition, we can understand what topics we haven't covered at all. We will either write in those topics to give the article more breadth or write new content pieces.

"Mostly User-Friendly"
What do you like best about MarketMuse?

I like the variety of features MarketMuse has, as well as the helpful explanations of each of their features (which are sometimes hard to understand at first). The Connect and Optimize features in particular are very useful. I also appreciate that we get direct assistance from MarketMuse representatives, who can ensure we are using the software to the best of our ability. We haven't been able to use the content brief creator yet, but from what I've seen in the trainings, I look forward to trying it out to see if it works for us. If it does, it will save us a lot of time and effort on our end.

What do you dislike about MarketMuse?

MarketMuse can be a little tricky to use at first because of their product-specific terminology, but that can be overcome by taking the MarketMuse training courses. It also sometimes takes a while to load the various features, like the Connect or Optimize features. I would recommend adding more training courses, or perhaps some training courses that allow you to interact with the software while you're learning about it--sometimes applying what you've learned about theoretically is difficult to apply to your own business's needs. However, with experimentation, I've been able to mostly work through these struggles.

What problems is MarketMuse solving and how is that benefiting you?

The Connect feature is particularly useful as it helps us determine the best internal and external links to use in our blog posts. It also helps us see how our content stacks up against our competitors'.

"A good tool for those with limited SEO knowledge"
What do you like best about MarketMuse?

I really love the premise of MarketMuse, and I find certain aspects of the platform REALLY useful (Newsroom, for example, can be great for timely articles). I used the service in a past role and really got a lot out of it. In this particular role, though, I don't feel like I got quite as much value, though it has certainly still been worth using.

What do you dislike about MarketMuse?

I do feel that the pricing is sometimes a bit steep for the level of service one actually receives.

What problems is MarketMuse solving and how is that benefiting you?

MarketMuse helped us create content clusters for some topics we were missing on our TaxBuzz website. We also used them to develop a number of content briefs for long form articles. Additionally, founder, Jeff Coyle, provided us with some extra consulting services during a major migration/revamp of the TaxBuzz site.
