"Recent switch to Squarespace"
What do you like best about Squarespace?

We recently switched to Squarespace. I am not the main administrator, but I do create pages, forms, edit the calendar, edit pages, etc. I like that it is so easy to use and intuitive, which allows someone like me who can not write code, to still edit and create pages on our website. I like that it allows moving images on the banner we have on our front page, which makes it more aesthetically pleasing and allows us to keep things up to date. There are many features that allow our people to interact with the website itself.

What do you dislike about Squarespace?

I do wish the calendar feature allowed events to not merely be copied but span a time frame, for example, a recurring event that happens once a week for 12 weeks. It is tedious to have to copy each event. I also wish the website itself was more customizable, although it does serve its purpose for most of our needs. It would be nice to have graphics that can be highlighted or clicked on that allow more text to appear/open in a new window. Perhaps this exists and i am unaware or we have a more basic package.

What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use Squarespace as the main website for our organization, which is a church. People can go on to listen to sermons, check our calendar, view our online bulletin, view small group questions, view what is going on, click a link that direct them to sign up for events, studies, etc. and take notes on the sermon and have it emailed to them. We like that it allows people to interact with it and do so much,

"Great for starting a website "
What do you like best about Squarespace?

It allows people to create a professionally looking website without any previous experience or code knowledge.

What do you dislike about Squarespace?

The limitations are there. You choose simplicity over functionality and it shows - there are SEO settings that can't be perfected and much more.

What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?

my main issue with Squarespace is the lack of extended SEO settings and the inability to copy a design section, making it hard to replicate a block on a page.

"Squarespace is simple"
What do you like best about Squarespace?

I like how visually based the design is for Squarespace, rather than code based. It's easy to add content and see what it will look like right away.

What do you dislike about Squarespace?

I don't like the limitations that Squarespace has for element placement.

What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?

I am creating websites for small businesses that don't have a large marketing budget. I have experienced the benefit of empowering small business owners being able to get their product/service out to the public at very low cost.

"Easy to use, but limited customizations."
What do you like best about Squarespace?

Squarespace has thought through a lot of ideas that everyday individuals/businesses would like on their website, which is quite admirable. I like the website additions that you can add on to your site, or scrolling banners that you can add. The already populated forms for contacts and forums are nice to readily have in addition to its mobile optimized site.

What do you dislike about Squarespace?

The limited things that I may do to customize my site. It's quite easy to tell when websites are designed by squarespace because they are so limited in specific customization features. As a marketer, individuality is of the utmost importance when it comes to brands. So when being asked to develop a Squarespace website I always make sure to tell my client that it will like a "Squarespace" webpage.

What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?

When needing to have a constantly updated site, you must first have the ability to do so. With Squarespace it's an easier accessibility than having to use a hosting site like godaddy.com, it helps businesses develop more of a media strategy being able to see the type of optimization and customization features there are on the web.

"Squarespace"
What do you like best about Squarespace?

I like the multiple pages that you can have on your website. it makes it easy for clients who are in need of Webstores to direct their customers where to go.

What do you dislike about Squarespace?

I don't like that I can not add multiple options to the items I put on there. Each color has to be a new sku, would be nicer if we can just add a drop down to select the color from.

What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?

it keeps everything together in one spot. I don't have to delete stores I know I will be using again in the future. I can just disable or enable them at anytime. This helps with annual sport team orders and such.

"Simple to use - limited for advanced users"
What do you like best about Squarespace?

It is really quick and easy to get up and running with a beautiful, modern, responsive website using their templates and all-in-one hosting.

What do you dislike about Squarespace?

If you want to make custom changes that aren't included in the template, it can be needlessly frustrating (or impossible) to do. One example is adding a simple text bar above a photo gallery -- there's no way to do it!

What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?

"A Little Pricey, But the Best Solution I've Found "
What do you like best about Squarespace?

I'm not exactly new at building websites, but I'm definitely not the type to build one from the ground up (besides lacking the skills, it just doesn't sound fun to me). Squarespace gives me just enough to feel like I'm making a really custom, functional website, without having to start from scratch or know *a lot* of code. It's an outlet for my creativity without being a burden.

What do you dislike about Squarespace?

The price isn't terrible, but it does add up after awhile (especially when you're already paying for a domain name). And the customization is perfect for me, but it is a template-based platform so it might not give everyone all the features they'd like.

What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?

I've created a well-designed portfolio that showcases my work as a marketing professional! I also use it to help manage my colleague's small nonprofit website.

"SquareSpace for Business Web Design"
What do you like best about Squarespace?

I enjoy being able to switch themes at will while demonstrating to potential clients, I also like the ease of adding, removing, and hiding pages with just a few clicks.

What do you dislike about Squarespace?

When designing the website from a mobile phone or tablet what you see is not always what you get. Their e-commerce platform is also very lacking, you're limited to only a few payment processors.

What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use SquareSpace to quickly hash out design details with clients without digging deep into wireframe applications and extensive Photoshop editing.

"The best place for a "average joe" to build a web prescene. "
What do you like best about Squarespace?

The ease and interface of Squarespace even make a user who is unskilled with HTML or other internet design languages can create a beautiful, interactive and engaging site with the simplicity of integrating 3rd party tools such as Google Analytics.

What do you dislike about Squarespace?

The only gripe I really have about Squarespace is the aggravating process of having to go back and forth between Design and Pages to edit text and or colors etc.

What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?

Squarespace allows users to create a professional and modern web presence without having to shell out lots of money to a design firm.

"You really pay for the templates"
What do you like best about Squarespace?

Super clean, minimal, modern design. Squarespace defined the modern website and anyone can look like a professional hipster with SS. It's affordable, the customer service is good, you can add on email with Google (G Suite) or another provider (I use ProtonMail). The e-commerce is really good, too, actually. You can add your products and link up with Stripe to accept payments! It's basically everything you need for an individual or small business, and you look like you hired a professional design agency.

What do you dislike about Squarespace?

The WISYWIG is fussy. Dragging and dropping and adding and editing columns can be extremely time consuming and frustrating. The templates are beautiful and do the hard work for you, but sometimes little customizations can be time-consuming. The analytics and SEO are extremely limited, especially compared to the SEO power of Wordpress. The hosting is also awful - it's not like Wordpress where you can upload images / media to link elsewhere on the web. It's not hosting, basically. There's no media library.

What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's a great online presence with good contact forms, and the mobile responsiveness makes you look like a pro. I can't say that it enhanced my web presence in one way or another, but I definitely know when my site is linked from my articles and blogs elsewhere on the web, people visit it and convert at a good rate.

"SquareSpace Domain"
What do you like best about Squarespace?

- The cost is low, $20, and you can setup automatic renewal. Also, no hidden fees! - The domain comes with an SSL certificate and Who Is privacy - The interface is easy to use and the help pages were actually helpful!

What do you dislike about Squarespace?

- The cost of an online store is very high! Therefore, it is cheap to have your own domain but very expensive to have your own website through SquareSpace. - It took me a while to learn how to forward the domain name to another site but as noted in the likes, the help pages helped me to navigate this issue

What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?

We needed a domain for our online store. The SquareSpace Domain is ideal and comes with everything we need. Also, if we do start earning more money from the store, we can upgrade to a full website and store on SquareSpace.

"Easy to use, but need time to figure out & not incredibly customizable"
What do you like best about Squarespace?

Once you figure out how to use the program, Squarespace is relatively easy to use. There are a lot of templates to choose from in different categories, so you're guaranteed to have a nice website in the end.

What do you dislike about Squarespace?

While there are so many templates, they're not very customizable. Or, it's not easy to do (like Wix)... You definitely need to take some time to learn it before you dive into designing the website.

What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?

Problems include not being able to customize it with drag and drop. For example, if a client had a specific desire for the website, I wouldn't be able to do it for them because the templates are so specific.

"Looks Great, but the UX is so-so"
What do you like best about Squarespace?

The templates look really nice and sleek. If you are working in the creative arts, you should heavily consider using squarespace.

What do you dislike about Squarespace?

It's difficult to edit certain types of pages and each template has editing limitations. Your sacrificing user practicality for a sleeker design in most cases.

What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's still easier than coding and essential to someone who doesn't know how to code.

"Great for small organizations "
What do you like best about Squarespace?

As a small, nonprofit organization Squarespace has been awesome. It's easy to get started, quite straightforward for those without any coding ability, and very affordable. The support team is helpful (there's a live chat feature!) and an extensive FAQ section for if you get stuck. There is also a fair amount of customizing you can do for a plug and play platform

What do you dislike about Squarespace?

Without extensive customization, most Sqaurespace sites look alike. It's not a bad look, but it doesn't necessarily stand out.

What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?

It allows us to have a nice looking website while keeping costs low. It also allows for different program managers to update their own pages, making it easy to keep content fresh and updated.

"The Good and Bad of Squarespace"
What do you like best about Squarespace?

I really like the ease of use. Getting started with a website is easy with their templates where anyone at any level can start a website for their business. The templates and themes to choose from are very nice looking and have a wide variety that really can fit any business. I know they are more on the artistic side compared to Weebly and Wix but really they can work for any type of business. I've used Squarespace for my business website and help build two other businesses websites. Some people believe that SEO isn't achievable with these types of platforms but with one of the businesses I helped build their site and have them ranking number one for their top local term and in the top 5 for national terms. It is very possible to rank these sites.

What do you dislike about Squarespace?

When it comes to SEO, I'd say Squarespace is on the top of wisiwig website platforms. But there are still frustrations that come with not much flexibility. One of those is not being able to write your own meta descriptions depending on the theme you choose. If you choose one that has the hero image where you can fill in with text, that automatically becomes your meta descriptions. Or you can use a generic description for the whole site. I have tried to find work arounds and talked to support who said that isn't something that is changing in the near future. Meta descriptions aren't a huge bust in SEO but they kind of are for click through rate. The E-commerce side of things I wasn't impressed with. Limited functions from what I saw. I would for sure stick to Shopify for E-commerce.

What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?

Build websites fast, easily, and affordable.
