Compare Wistia with other popular tools in the same category.
Wistia is reliable, and rock solid. We use Wistia when playback REALLY matters - when a split second of buffering or load time could make all the difference, Wistia delivers.
Mobile app should be redone from scratch to pair better with the web app.
Organization of video assets and lightning-fast playback for embeds.
I like how easy Wistia is to use, espeically for sharing content and replays from our events. You can share videos across multiple mediums, including our Community platform and Hubspot emails. It's very user-friendly and doesn't require any training for usage, which is a plus! The Support team is friendly and quick to respond to queries.
I haven't encountered anything about Wistia that I dislike! Wistia meets all my needs perfectly in an easy and straightforward manner - no added unnecessary complexity.
Wistia helps me to easily share content between platforms and store all our content in one convenient place. It is an excellent archive of videos, and it's straightforward for me to source older content to share with a new audience.
Wistia has really helped our team streamline where we host our videos, share them with the broader team, and invite customers to view and engage with our content.
No downsides that I've noticed so far! We're really enjoying using Wistia so far and how much it has helped our team be more successful!
I love the new feature of editing while in Wistia, as opposed to working in an outside program and then uploading it into the in-app experience. Now we can do everything all at once inside a singular platform making it more centralized. Plus, we can create channels for our various marketing activities and can have an easier time seeing who's engaged with what video content per channel.
It does what it advertised. Log in, upload, get your embed code, and start hosting your video where you like. The loading speed and its ability to customize are also great. It's not the cheapest out there, but I would still consider it affordable for the control it can give you (as opposed to using YouTube, which provides little).
I wouldn't call it dislike, but I don't use their extra features like editing, trimming, etc. Dedicated software like Davinci or Premier is still my preferred option for editing.
We use Wistia to host our video sales letter. Being able to customize the watching experience is what we like about Wistia.
Wistia is a great video platform for businesses. I have been using it for years now and the video display customization, the integrations into CMS tools and the quick customer service makes it a no-brainer for companies that want to use video for marketing, landing page designs and more. What makes Wistia such a great tool is its ease of integration in landing pages and the ability to swap in updated versions of videos while maintaining the same URL. The channel feature also makes it easy to pull in categories of videos as a way to display them in an attractive and easy to view way. We also embed those channel page designs into our website which makes it so much easier to swap in videos, organize them and create an overall beautiful presentation.
There's very little to dislike about the tool, I haven't run into any challenges for things I want to do so far so I am grateful for that. I wish there was a way to link comments to accounts in HubSpot or so, that way I could easily click on the account and view it from Wistia.
Wistia has allowed us to display our webinar recordings, use videos as replacements for animated gifs on our site, track viewer behaviors like watch time and location, add in call to actions to landing pages and more.
feature set is unique, the platform is easy to use and robust. the team behind it cares very much about video and hosting and it is at the core of their dna.
in the many years i've been a wistia client i'd have to say i've had very little to be annoyed or frustrated about. i know right? rare!
some of the custom ability to link to courses, embedding captions, animated front gifs as a holding image. playlists are fantastic as well.
Professional streaming, excellent customer service
Nothing that I can think of, it's great!
Online course hosting
I especially like the user interface, including how I can easily organize content into folders (and grant folder rights to users) and edit video features and appearance for each video or the whole folder of videos. The HEX color entry on player controls makes it easy to match our brand, and I can see the results of my changes on the same page immediately after saving. It's also so easy to order closed captioning text right from the same place I'm controlling appearance. I've never had reliability issues with video upload or playback, and sharing my videos with multiple types of embeds or links is easy. Lastly, I think the pricing is a good value.
I really can't think of anything I don't like.
We wanted a white-label solution that allowed us to match video controls with our brand colors and didn't show users off-topic or inappropriate video content at the end (like YouTube might). We also needed password protection for some content. Wistia makes it easy to share videos with thousands of views or videos where we demonstrate something for a single customer.
If I have to choose one, It would be that if I make changes to a video, I can replace it, keep the stats, and most importantly, keep the same link. This saves a lot of work for all the designers and engineers who are using the embedded data since they don't have to do absolutely anything. The video replaces itself.
I really don't have anything in mind. If I encounter a problem, I write to them and they quickly respond or jump into a video call and they help me out with so much enthusiasm.
Wistia saves me a lot of time with the feature "Replace Media". I can keep the same video link withouth having to embed it again on all my sites.
Wisitia is very simple to use, but has lots of features that other video platforms don't offer. Specifically their channels feature. Their channels has given us the opportunity to have video become a big part of our website. Customer service is also top notch.
The new pricing has jumped a good amount. We are still staying with Wistia due to how much we like the platform, but we are now spending more than we would like to.
It has allowed us to natively integrate video into our website. So not only with embedded videos, but the channels feature has allowed us to create an entire section of our site dedicated to videos.
I love how easy it is to use - super intuitive and extremely customizable. The channel function is very helpful to share tons of relevant content at once. It is also very visually appealing - the UI is easy to learn and embedded videos look realy great, especially with customizable branding. I also appreciate that they are consistently rolling out new features that are relevant to my needs and they really listen to their users regarding features they would like to see.
I really cannot thinking of anything - it's a great tool.
We have a lot of webinars at my company, and after a webinar it's important to easily share content with registrants and attendees. Being able to easily embed a Wistia video on our landing page is great, and the channel features makes it very easy to share a large amount of relevant content at once.
I love that it can be branded for my company, is very professional-looking, and has great analytics.
Nothing to speak of. I like everything about it.
Allows me to require pre-workshop video reviews.
It's designed for the marketer in mind, with tools that really help drive engagement and backend metrics that help inform future campaigns. I think compared to competitors it certainly fills a niche!
It doesn't offer the same level of deep analytics that youtube is able to achieve, although it's hard to compete with a platform that has all of your personal information and knows what you like to engage with through its different product offerings (search, drive, photos)
it's helping us deliver a great video experience while iterating on feedback by marketers. It feels very much like a simplified version of youtube that gives us what we need.
Ease of use. External Channels and internal projects are incredibly helpful.
Downside of Wistia is that the transcripts aren't as great/accurate as they could be.
Collaboration across departments and podcast distribution. Saves time and energy.
Easy to use, intuitive. Plenty of new functionality coming regularly. I specially like the captions.
To add a non-real background to your video while presenting is not possible. And that is usually very handly specially in this era when we work from home.
We needed a simple tool to allow us not only host a vast amount of videos in an structure way (via Wistia Channels we can solve that) but also to run Live Webinars, and we able to capture stats about attendance.
Ease of use, layout, plus is is fairly intuative
The editing part of videos can be a little buggy

The quality of the product, the integration into our CMS and the available analytics are all top notch. While we rarely have issues, anytime I've reached out to customer support I've gotten quick and helpful feedback.
My only complaint is that there are definitely less expensive options, however the product has been worth the spend.
Wistia has been great from the start! From getting help migrating all our content from our old service, to getting our folders and channels set up and having an easy to use implementation into our CMS, we've really benefited from switching to Wistia. While not the cheapest option out there, it's more than paid for itself with the quality of the product and support. It was a great move for us
Wistia's user interface is very easy to use and teach to others. Embedding and channel usuage have made for great final products for projects. Being able to customize functionally based on company brands is always high on my list of favorites.
Not being able to see in video analytics is highly annoying. If you click into a video, each video has more detailed interaction stats that you can't access anywhere else.
Time on Brand is the most important thing when we decided to choose a video content host.
It is easy to use and delivers information that is useful to optimize video content delivery
That additional videos are billed monthly. I woud prefere another purchase for 50, 100 videos per year
Easy hosting, privacy of videos so that only registered customers can watch
Wistia is easy to use, easy to set up an account, easy to add videos, easy to integrate, easy to administer and not expensive. We used it to record and present internal meetings, customer training and internal technical employee training. Some of the videos had hundreds and hundreds of views. Customer support, the few times I needed it, was polite, knowledgeable, and resolved my issue quickly. I personally used Wistia or referred people to the videos several times per week. There were a couple of times when an internal meeting recording was used to resolve who said what disputes.
I'm not just saying this but, my experience was only positive, I have no dislikes.
Wistia was a very convenient way to store and present video training.
It's really easy to use, great for embedding into our website and or sharing via a link. All our videos are hosted here. I love that it can easily be used by anyone on the team, even if they're not super technical.
I would prefer some more advanced analytics, but for what we are using it now it works really well!
A unified space to host all our video content - from customer testimonials to how-to videos and webinar recordings.
The UI is very user-friendly and the staff at Wistia has been very friendly :)
Nothing. Everything works exactly as it should.
A streamlined video host. Having everything in one place makes it a lot easier for us to organize.
Video enhancement features, uploading assets and hyperlinking into our emails
we dont have dedicated support so would like to have one account manager
Video hosting
Ease of use. Allows teams to easily share videos internally for review.
Moving and copying content around could be a little smoother.
Compliance and SME review. Video hosting on our website.
I like the simplicity of everything. Since we moved to Wistia a few years ago, it's evolved into a great tool for our marketing team as well as for the team I am part of, Knowledge and Training. We manage our Help Center and Community and have a large amount of videos that we embed in our articles or in pages as a video library, or as a Wistia Channel. Wistia has made it easy for us to decide how to display our content. Even developing a video delivery app within our pages has been simple to develop. The analytics it provides are really insightful and useful for us as well. Overall, we have been satisfied by the tools Wistia provides and they are well documented in every way. We still need to explore some of the newer features too! Thanks
So far, I have not disliked something about Wistia.
Solves a few of our "needs". It allows us to properly catalogue our video library, provide different sub-product brand colors to the player and channels, etc. Gives us great insights of to how our videos are doing.
I use the platform so much and it's so simple and intuitive it's second nature by now. Uploading, editing (a nice recent addition), and sharing internally with colleagues is super simple even for non-video pros. The embeds work flawlessly on any site I've ever tried them on and being able to adjust the player controls and branding to suit our company really helps professionalise our product demo videos. They also put out a ton of useful (and fun) educational content for doing business video better, which has been immensely helpful as a marketer with no formal background in video.
No real downsides at all in my view. If they were to integrate automatic voicover translation to help with localisation would be cool, but it's not a massive need for us right now.
Wistia lets us host and display our videos of all types in a branded player that loads fast and helps our videos look professional and on--brand.
Wistia is a powerful and easy to use product! They also are always innovating and creating new features. They recently released a Live video feature, which looks way better than what's currently out there. Wistia also creates an insane amount of quality content to help video marketers do their job better. If you're not following them on social media, you should.
I really can't think of anything I dislike about the Wistia product or company. The only thing I could think of that might be useful is if I could do more with my account when logged in on a mobile browser.
Videos on social media can only get you so far. You need to host videos on a platform like Wistia in order to capture leads, gain insights from analytics, and provide the best way for people to watch your content.
Wistia consistently enhances its platform with innovative tools and trainings to ensuring a secure and easy to use hosting platform for our extensive video content. Their communication on new products is also great.
There is not much to dislike about the Wistia platform. There have been some bugs in the new editing service. Those have quickly been resolved.
Wistia allows me to add many users to to the account so they have access to our extensive library of videos. Having access to all videos allows a ton of efficiency.
What I like most about Wistia is how it allows me to keep my videos up-to-date in terms of ADA requirements. The fact that I can upload transcripts, audio descriptions, and captions to my clients' videos makes it #1 in my book. I also love how I can customize channels and projects based on client needs and brand guides.
There are obviously limits to how many channels you can have under certain plans and it can get costly.
The ability to embed my videos with ADA files is the biggest reason I use Wistia. My clients want their videos to be ADA compliant and Wistia has given me the full service ability to achieve that.
I use Wistia daily as part of my work and it has been a game-changer for my video needs. It's like an all-in-one solution, combining hosting, review, sharing, and the cherry on top – the reporting dashboard. It offers seamless integration with your website, and the video player looks sleek and professional. Plus, it's reliable and loads quickly, ensuring a top-notch user experience. The review feature is a lifesaver for collaborative projects. It allows team members and clients to leave comments right on the video timeline. This makes feedback crystal clear and eliminates those endless email chains. It also eliminates the need for another review tool. It's easy to share videos. Whether you want to embed them on your website, share on social media, or send private links, Wistia's got you covered. It's versatile and user-friendly. The reporting dashboard is like having a personal data wizard. The insights it provides are invaluable. You can track engagement, see where viewers drop off, and even measure conversion rates if you're into marketing. This data-driven approach helps us refine our content and strategy, making Wistia an indispensable tool for our video marketing efforts. I have never had to contact Customer Support as I find the tool intuitive and easy to follow through.
One drawback I've encountered with Wistia is its limited integration with Atlassian products. It's frustrating that I can't seamlessly embed Wistia videos within these platforms. This limitation hinders the convenience and flow of our collaborative work, as Atlassian tools are often essential for project management and documentation. It would be great if Wistia could expand its compatibility with these popular platforms, making it even more versatile and user-friendly.
Wistia solves various business problems by offering reliable video hosting, streamlined collaboration with review features, improved video marketing through analytics and integration, data-driven decision-making with its reporting dashboard, customizable branded video players, robust security and privacy options, accessibility features, and responsive customer support. This comprehensive platform addresses a range of video-related challenges, making it a valuable tool for businesses seeking to enhance their video content strategy and execution.
