Ease of use and brilliance. I like that Adobe is incorporating more work flow flexibility. It's the publishing industry's standard, which means there's an awesome community of users to help and learn from.
A lot of features that seem obvious, like controlling the stroke on a table and its cells, seem to be mysteries. While export to reflowable epub is improving, it remains the app's Achilles heel.
I'm a daily user, so I've developed a rhythm with the software. There's still lots to learn, but it's my main bread-and-butter app. I have no business without it.
I like to use InDesign most for designing guidebooks and programs. The document setup is very helpful for that.
You don't get as many advanced editing tools that you'd receive in Illustrator, so it's not preferred for creating new graphics.
We have annual brochures that we easily update through InDesign.
- Easy to use - many more features than other design programs
- Spell check is not as obvious as it is in Microsoft programs like Word or Publisher
InDesign helps us to put our best face forward. We use it to design both printed and online materials. Everything from catalogs and brochures to emails and sample boxes starts in InDesign for us.
Layering and setting up layouts is simple
Can't do a lot of what illustrator can, sometimes the links go fuzzy
I am able to create templates that make it quick for me to print of flyers or postcards
Love being able to play with the text and manipulate it much more easily than in similar applications like Word. I also enjoy manipulating the sidebars and setting up to see ones that I like the best, creating swatches, etc.
It can be a little obtuse sometimes, text boxes can get confusing when you're trying to stack one on top of another, or have them near each other. Applying colors has been difficult sometimes. It's similar to other Adobe programs -- it's occasionally not that intuitive.
Makes creating brochures, pages, posters, resumes, etc. easy. Could also manipulate simpler graphics and images, though it's not as robust as in Photoshop.
All the best features of Quark and Pagemaker rolled together. SUPER COMPATIBLE with photoshop and Illustrator
multiple panel brochure layouts/converting to reader's spreads, etc...is not intuitive. I have to google directions EVERY time
I definitely benefit from its ability to create LARGE documents without crashing. I used to have to divide my Quark documents into several separate sections.
What you put in, you get out. Very accurate.
It might be my equipment or OS, but if I want to enlarge or reduce the size of an imported object or .eps I am unable to select the corner of the object. I have to refer to the drop down menu, hence, this slows down my work pace. Time is money.
Pre-Press: Layout, Storyboards, Forms, Letterhead, Labels, Business Cards, Resumes, Presentations, Brochures, etc.
How you can set up master pages, saves so much time when you are creating a book.
Sometimes the program crashes on me when I am working.
Doing a lot of freelance jobs of catalogues and brochures.
A neat option that InDesign has is that you create master page templates this allows you to make all of the pages look the same. It is simple to combine text and graphics and lay them out on the page. InDesign really is the best page layout software available. It works well with the other Adobe suite, so it's easy to transfer any photos or graphics you have created in the applications into InDesign. The interface layout is simple if you have used other adobe software if not, the learning curve for this software is rather high. You can customize the interface to fit your needs and that is a great feature of this software. Our company uses this software to create brochures for the therapy services that we offer for doctors offices as well as for patients. We also use it to create interactive PDFs to use for presentations to the doctors office when we are marketing.
InDesign does not have some of the graphic tools available that some of Adobe's other products have. I also do not like that you are limited to the adjustments you can make to your photos because it is not a photo editing software.
Our company uses this software to create brochures for the therapy services that we offer for doctors offices as well as for patient. We also use it to create interactive PDFs to use for presentations to the doctors office when we are marketing. It gives us a professional look when we are out and about marketing to doctors and it is convenient to not have to be able to do it in our office and not have to pay someone else to create marketing materials for us.
InDesign is hands down the best Adobe Document program out there! As a designer I come to find that I use InDesign quite a lot more often than Illustrator. I love that you can do almost anything and has almost the same features as the other Adobe softwares do. It is a layout document program. It's easy to manage and the software is great for anyone who needs to set up their documents and stylize it. Adobe InDesign and all other Adobe programs now has full templates that you can use to start your design. All for free!
One of the few things I dislike is that it can crash from time to time and could take awhile to open back up. So make sure you are saving your work!
Well Adobe InDesign has everything I need and it benefits me greatly because I can do so much more in InDesign than I can in Microsoft Word or any other page builder programs. Using InDesign to set up my documents helps me get a lot of my projects done in a timely manner and it looks great in the end!
InDesign is easy to made graphics and layout designs for flyers, program sheets, banners, web graphics, and more!
I honestly don't dislike anything about InDesign.
It's so easy to whip up layout projects. Never struggle with using all the tools.
Being able to layout books, use it for brochures, and ability to have smaller files than in Illustrator.
The difficulty in figuring out how to set up a file correctly. I also have trouble moving Illustrator vector designs in to InDesign.
Book layout, brochure layout, faster program than illustrator to work with photos.
Adobe InDesign is so easy to use - if you are organized. Frankly, InDesign should be the standard print layout program of every graphic design company just based on the ease and integration with other Adobe products. I love how well it flows between Illustrator and Photoshop if you need to make changes to objects or photos. For me I use InDesign in my current job, for personal use, and for my side business.
The only thing that I dislike (and it's more of a personal thing) is that sometimes the rescaling of a placed object can lag a little, and will sometimes flip either across horizontal or vertical. Other than that, there is nothing that I dislike. I would like to see if they could create more of a bin system like that of Premiere Pro for ease of finding files to place.
For me, we use this for our brochure and booklet needs at our church. It has helped us tremendously with making templates and quickly reshaping designs and layouts. We make quarterly brochures and this has sped up the process of that task along with using custom colors to match across print and on screen graphics.
The enhancements! Brilliant! SO many good features!
I love it all! Just a bit pricey, but great!
We are able to print out and make changes on our brochures, books, etc. without a problem. Top notch work with InDesign!
Adobe InDesign accomplishes everything I need to do. As a regular user, I find it easy to use.
I really love everything about InDesign.
Adobe InDesign is a regular tool in my design toolbelt. I use it for almost everything I do.
How much of a guide adobe InDesign gives you!
Too many options if you aren't familiar with the program.
I use indesign for newsletters mostly, and Its easy for everyone to be able to edit.
I used InDesign for formatting curriculum for my company. Their layout capabilities are amazing. I love their page layout. I use their rulers and guidelines for everything, as a perfectionist, getting even the smallest details correct is everything and InDesign allows me to do that. I use their tables for everything, even if that is a bit of a dated technique, the specificity it allows in design is un-beat.
I think that the previews could be a bit stronger, switching from different modes can be weird, because you don't see certain things that you may want to see in the preview mode. Like the rulers disappear, and then sometimes if you use guidelines they can be a bit strong and almost overpower the design. So it would be nice to bring the opacity down on those.
InDesign allows me to create professional graphics, and brochures for my company. They allow me to easily compile information about the services we provide to my customers in a professional manner.
I would use Indesign for everything if I could
It can be a little slow to loud at times
Design, writing books, making flyers, much much more
Adobe InDesign is the best tool to put together a book, whether digital or to print. Besides, the tool is quite straight forward.
I'm used to Photoshop, and shortcuts aren't the same. And it can be frustrating when going from one software to the other.
InDesign helps us to put together great content. We can then share it online or print it to share our books and knowledge with clients and prospects.
This product is what you need for creating editorials, it allows you to go from concept to in hand magazines.
Hard to have high resolution images in there, it freezes.
Creating marketing tools to share for clients.
