Unclaimed: Are are working at Basecamp ?
Basecamp has evolved as a project management platform since its launch in 2004 but its mission to help remote teams stay organized, productive, and efficient remains. One new feature that Basecamp recently added is called Basecamp Hill – a visual representation that divides the component of a project into a phase of uncertainty, unknowns, and problem-solving (uphill) and a phase of certainty, confidence, and execution (downhill). This is on top of Basecamp’s core features which include a Message Board, To-dos, Calendar, Documents and Files, Group Chat, and Automated Check-ins. It’s a top-down and bottom-up platform for everyone in a business or organization – from proprietors and C-level executives to project managers and individual team members.

The schedule, todo list and campfire chat are the most used features in my small team.
I can't really think of anything that is least helpful or that I dislike.
The main issue I have is managing tasks to be done and deadlines and Basecamp is great for both of these things in both business and home life. It's been invaluable to keep track of a number of large, lengthy projects over the last few years.
The ability to create multiple teams for separate functions and projects. It provides a higher level of organization than email, etc.
It would be helpful if you could view full documents without having to download each time.
It keeps our committee communication organized and separate from emails for easier tracking and reference.
It's dead simple. From pricing to interface, people new to it will have few issues navigating Basecamp.
Quick switching isn't as quick as it could be and doesn't show all options. Because of this, people in the company still use our chat tools for quick messages.
Basecamp helps us keep our discussions organized. By being organized, it is easier to re-absorb them in the future should the need arise.
We like that basecamp is very customizable and easy to use. We have been able to track our projects individually in basecamp for the past 7 years and its easy to revisit as needed.
Downsides I see is that there are some things I would like to be a little more custom but that's just because I use it every day. Small things like being able to merge some cards would be nice to have to dos and files all in one card.
Basecamp solves the problem of keeping individual projects seperate. We can archive and come back to if ever needed and everything is as organized as we make it.
I like the simplicity of Basecamp. I have used many project management tools but after a certain time, it become complex to manage a project management tool. It eats up a lot of time of my working hours just to maintain a project management tool. In this particular case, Basecamp kept everything straight forward. It's easy to use and easy to manage. Love it.
Well the chat application could be better. They say they can replace chat application but in reality it's not possible. MS Team or Google chat or even Skype has better features than Basecamp. You can not create groups on chat. The UI/UX isn't friendly enough to use it. To me it's just useless.
Day to day project management and scheduling. I don't have to spend too much time on Basecamp for managing the projects. I can focus on my work while maintaining Basecamp with minimum effort.
Basecamp is a great way to get all the members of your team on the same page when it comes to workflow and project status. It's far better than email for maintaining timely communications.
The interface could use some work so that project status and components are more visible or accessible on the dashboard.
Having a small 2-person communication staff dealing with dozens of concurrent projects necessitated a more decentralized comms function where internal 'clients' have a stake in managing and contributing to the project workflow by being able to share docs, tasks, ideas in one place (rather than in multiple email threads).
Basecamp simplifies communication with our clients and makes it super easy to track and manage projects.
A minor gripe but it would be useful to be able to customise the homepage more.
Basecamp solves the problem of multiple people working together on the same project at the same time. It makes us more productive and allows us to easily see all past and present communication.
The best part about Basecamp is the ease of use. It takes me no time at all to onboard internal staff or clients on how to use the tool. It also keeps all the projects so organized in an easy to access way.
I would say my only downside to basecamp is that I wish there was a built-in time-tracking tool for our team to use. We instead have an outside time-tracking tool that integrates with Basecamp but it still would be easier to have this as a function of Basecamp.
Basecamp has solved keep our team and clients on task through the ease of building out tasks and timelines. It helps keep our communications streamlined.
The "to-do" functionality, with the date due, and the commenting thread is extremely helpful for keeping things organized. The ability to look up a teammate and see what is on their plate is super helpful for one-on-one chats.
I can see that the price tag would deter some, especially if they are in a non-profit organization like myself. And the fact that it is not within the Microsoft eco system will mean some companies cannot use it, due to their security policies.
Staying organized is always challenging, and having clarity on who is responsible for what is a huge benefit. Being able to see what any one teammate is responsible for helps in the weekly one-on-one chats.
Basecamp has been a vital tool for connecting our team over 14 countries. I love the new features. Interface is intuitive, and easily learned by broad range of ages.
I would like to be able to move someone from a client to a collaborator a bit easier.
Basecamp allows our team to keep everything in one place and operate in real time. Far less confusion than using multiple applications or platforms.
