Bubble integrates data, logic and presentation into a single easy to use platform. The built in user authentication and 'current user' focused logic, the inbuilt link between database table and visual element; the visual UI drawing and logic and the API integration are all nothing short of brilliant. It's like AngularJS turned into an app.
And then like stars after a fabulous sunset the flaws come out. The responsive user interface isn't based on clear CSS framework and compared to something like bootstrap making it work for all screens is tricky and sometimes mysterious; while logic is easy (if sometimes a little odd), testing is diabolically hard. the logic model assumes success so defensive approaches (assuming failure) are hard to implement; the strict element-object inheritance often forces weird hacks. Slowly your grand plans unravel and frustration sets in.
Bubble is a fantastic tool for prototyping and UX testing. I would recommend it for UX over something like Figma because you really do experience an app. It forces a lot of thinking about simplicity and feature refinement. But for building a complex app? Not so much.
+ Their marketing and templates show the use cases of Bubble well + Good Onboarding: Their onboarding flow gives a wholistic view of the platform + Partnerships: Bubble has various accelerator and incubator partnerships.
- Drag-and-Drop Features: Are light years behind the competition, Bubble arguably overcomplicates MVP building. - Implementing Responsive Design is not good or easy.
No-Code solution to website building and MVP app building. Overly complicated with better solutions existing.
Front end design as long as it is simple enough, ability to put together workflows with simple drag and drop and somewhat helpful logging functionality.
Too many black boxes ! I have been struggling to just get emails working with bubble for 3 days now. I have done all kinds of verifications but no emails are going ! Bubble support says ask SendGrid, SendGrid says 'we don't know' - at least give me another option other than SendGrid then ! Now my entire 2 months of work is struck due to this - imagine launching an app which can't send password reset emails. I removed the SendGrid stuff hoping Bubble.io emails will go. They are also no going ! Same with the data (thing) part. You do everything in parallel - that's fine. But I need some predictability on what you plan to do first. Simple Cascade delete in RDBMS took me 2 weeks to figure out in Bubble. Even now my app is shaky since inserting and deleting records take time. So for a few moments users do see inconsistent data.
No need to know 10 programming languages and protocols to get a (partially working) app done. One person can do it. So lot of time spent on StackOverflow trying to solve issues is really saved. Many information security issues seem to be automatically taken care of. So that's a big time saver.
It is amazing what you can build in Bubble. The issue is not what "can" Bubble do but how reliably it can do it. The longer you use the platform the more you experience weird data issues because the platform search capability stops working or you do an operation on a list of things without leaving the required 5 seconds between operations (yes, 5 seconds).
Originally, I would have suggested that Bubble was good for an initial startup trying to validate its market fit. 5 years into it and I can no longer agree. This week Bubble unveiled new pricing that made its platform 8 times more expensive for many people. After years of building a non-performant system, they decided to change pricing models that charge from a fictitious measurement called a work unit. So now, the platform users are being charged for the resource time the poor system design requires.
Customer facing applications. Benefit is that we are live with an idea quickly.
Overall, this is an excellent platform for development, but it's not worth the money anymore for what you get. You'd be better off looking elsewhere for your needs. I have used No Code Bubble for eight years, and while I think the platform is excellent, I can't help but feel they are taking advantage of their users. The recent increase in pricing has made it much more expensive to use, and there are no limits to how much you can optimize your app for better performance. There is no good reason for these changes other than to inflate profits at customers' expense.
I've used No Code Bubble for eight years and thought it a great platform. Recently though, they announced an increase in their pricing, and the changes are horrendous! It seems like the company is taking advantage of its users, who have no choice but to accept whatever terms they offer. They also claim that their new pricing will allow customers to "optimize" their apps for better performance, but this is untrue. All these changes inflate their profits while making it more difficult and expensive for people to use the product. I urge anyone considering No Code Bubble to think twice about it. Their priority is to make money, not provide customers with a good experience or product. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for your development needs.
Bubble is a development platform designed to make it easier for people to build web and mobile applications without having to write code. It provides users with an intuitive visual programming language as well as plugins and APIs that helps them quickly create powerful apps and experiences. Unfortunately, the recent changes to the pricing structure and workload limits have made it prohibitively expensive for many users. The workload limits mean that if your app needs more capacity than what's included in the plan you have to pay extra fees or top up your usage each month. And the higher prices means fewer people can afford to use Bubble. This has stripped away a lot of the value it once provided, making it less accessible to those who need it most.
As a non-coder who dreamt of being one but never really had the time to learn, Bubble has allowed me to build a great tool. I've been running my business on it for over four years now, and I couldn't be happier. The team always listens to the user's needs and frequently adds new functionalities. It does require some learning, but overall, you can get up and running fast. The forum has a wonderful community and you'll always find someone to help.
Depending on the complexity of your project, you are still going to need some "code", and there are still some weird UX things that require other user's knowledge (which you can often find in the forum). My biggest pet peeve is the very small and quite expensive data storage capacity. I've had to get my own s3 account.
Quickly build and test ideas without having to know code, and all the back-end (security, database, etc...) is managed at the bubble level so I don't have to worry about it.
=Great no code tool =super customizable *theoretically*
Black Box; terrible documentation and support Too many critical functions work in a counter-intuitive manner without any heads-up about such "bugs" - without Petter Amile it would be a complete shit show.
Providing a no-code solution. In terms of benefit, the jury is out on whether Bubble's overhead (closed environment, server speed, hours and hours of wasted time due to their black box and nonexistent documentation etc.) is really less than coding the website.
The product just doesn't work. Also, I had canceled the account - However they still charged me. They have dark billing patterns - for eg:You just cannot downgrade account - It is silly practice
Customer support is not helpful. They don't understand the issues - I will try and upload the screenshots of the problem in the next few steps. But product is ridiculous to use.
Product doesn't work - super complex, build quality is very poor. I wanted to build an internal tool, but this app is bad.
Is a possible way of starting your business with no cost and there's more API compatibilities than it's competitors, if you get lucky going around it's bugs and doesn't happen to need any support.
THEY DON'T HAVE A CUSTOMER SUCCESS PROGRAM, absolutely none. They will basically tell you to sue them if you want what you paid for. Bubble is probably the worst tech company in terms of customer support. They also give away fake trials to make you start paying before you have to. And if there's a bug on their side, they'll do nothing about it. If you're starting a serious business using they're service, your project will be affected by bugs, and they have no intent on fixing it. They will just make you start another one, and won't give back the money you spent for nothing. They made a mistake? You pay twice, and loose weeks of work. Sue them if you want, that's Bubble "customer success".
Bubble makes it possible to no coder to start tech businesses before you have the money to hire a decent team, and make it possible so you put it on air faster.
The ease of making changes; it's as easy making few clicks. the database is also easily manipulated to ensure that you can iterate without hassle. Compared to competitors Bubble offers an amazing front and back end solution
The fact that you cannot use front end loops limits the ability to perform some tasks efficently. For example it is very difficult to manipulate on page data, that can then be processed with backend workflows.
Bubble allows you to launch MVP products in a very short space of time. We have used it in many real life instances, for example we created an occupational Health and Safety application that allows companies to track incidents at work.
Bubble is the most comprehensive no code platform available - if you can think of an app idea, you can most likely build it on Bubble. With the capability to integrate with outside platforms and add custom code, as well, Bubble puts a ton of power at your fingertips.
Because of how much control Bubble gives you over the development and customization of your app, it comes with a learning curve. This isn't a bad thing, but can feel like a negative if you don't anticipate it or don't understand why it's there.
Bubble runs our business, and we also help other folks build businesses using the platform. Personally, Bubble gives us a cost effective way to create completely customized solutions for our internal and external business needs. Professionally, Bubble gives us a great platform with which to help other people launch their own custom businesses.
Bubble.io truly stands out in the vast sea of no-code platforms, and the reason is its unparalleled flexibility. While many platforms lock you into specific templates or workflows, Bubble gives you the freedom to craft web applications tailored to your vision. The drag-and-drop interface is intuitive, but its depth goes beyond the surface. You can customize almost every element, embed third-party integrations, and even get down to granular conditional actions and workflows. It's a game-changer for both beginners and those who have dabbled in code before but want to speed up their development process. In essence, Bubble.io doesn’t just hand you a tool – it hands you an entire toolbox. This flexibility empowers users to build anything from simple landing pages to complex web applications without ever touching a line of code.
Learning Curve: While Bubble.io is designed to be a no-code platform, there's still a learning curve, especially if you're diving into its more advanced features. Some might find it overwhelming initially.
Swift Development Cycle: Without the need to learn coding syntax or troubleshoot minute coding errors, I've been able to bring my ideas to life in a fraction of the time it would take with traditional development. Cost-Efficient: Hiring developers or outsourcing software projects can be quite expensive. With Bubble.io, I've managed to circumvent those hefty fees, crafting solutions at a more affordable rate. Empowerment: One of the most gratifying benefits is the empowerment and independence I've gained. I'm no longer reliant on a developer's schedule or constrained by their vision. I can iterate, adapt, and refine my software as I see fit. Diverse Application Possibilities: From simple landing pages to intricate web applications, the flexibility of Bubble.io means I can address a multitude of needs without seeking separate tools or platforms. Collaboration and Community: Being part of the Bubble community has also been a boon. Whenever I face challenges, there's a vibrant and helpful community ready to assist, share insights, or provide feedback. In essence, Bubble.io has democratized software development for me, removing barriers and opening a world of digital possibilities previously out of reach.
The platform enables high-quality web app development with surprisingly sophisticated capabilities. The built-in database makes it quick and easy to get started. Great documentation and an enthusiastic online community of experts with many free tutorials. The Bubble support team is also quick and very helpful.
The sophistication of the platform is excellent but it comes at a small price. It's a very comprehensive interface and takes time to become acquainted with the massive number of features. But, if you are prepared to put in the time, it's well worth the investment as you will be rewarded with extensive capabilities.
Bubble gives you direct hands-on control as you develop your web app. We design in Figma and then translate the designs across into Bubble, and we have a professional, scaleable and sophisticated service. If/when we scale massively we will rethink our tech stack, but for now, as we grow the business and budgets are tight, Bubble will do the job admirably.
As a designer, this is the first time I feel so empowered, I couldn't find anything as powerful as bubble.io Currently, we're building a two-sided marketplace where we allow users to upload their own content and we approve it before it goes online. It took us 6 weeks of learning and 8 days of working to build the entire marketplace and bring it online, we have tried to build something similar in the past and it took 3 months to find a suitable developer and another 3 months of building, you can imagine the cost.
It requires a few weeks to learn, but with anything this powerful, this timeline is nothing. Consider learning coding to get the same results, you need at least 2 to 3 years, not 6 weeks. One thing I would improve is the designs, but I am picky since I am a designer :)
It's made it insanely easy for me to build a platform and work with users without needing anyone, I don't need a designer, a developer, a database expert, etc. I did it all by myself. And it is not just MVP, there are companies out there with USD 2.5 million yearly revenue and they're built on the bubble, one example is BetterLegal https://betterlegal.com/
I was a Visual Basic developer in the 1990s and early 2000s. Although you could create business objects, etc, VB's event drive nature allowed you to get things done without a CompSci degree. Well, Bubble has done that with the web. Watch a few YouTube videos from the ecosystem and you will be on your way.
They have changed the plans a few times since I have started. Nothing has gotten in the way of being productive though.
Allows for a non-traditional web developer to create solutions that work, scale, and are fit for purpose at a fraction of the cost.
Robust NoSql database with an "out of the box" REST API. It's easy to create, change and manage data models. I also like the new responsive engine for creating layouts.
The app performance can't keep up with a traditional solution built from scratch in JS, or similar, but it's getting better. I also wish it would be easier to embed and run external code. We use a lot of external APIs to create interactive maps or charts. The HTML element needs some work.
Creating fast prototypes and MVPs, we use Bubble quite a lot to test different ideas. I was also able to market smaller software solutions made in Bubble to clients.
Bubble.io is a no-code web app builder. They have a clean UI with a good process flow to make the work easier and smoother. A lot of backend processing is automated like SignIn, User Registration, EMail verification, Logout etc. It also has a lot of plugins which will make it further easier to build your apps.
The pricing is generalized a bit high, It takes time to master bubble even though it's a drag and drop platform, having a basic coding HTML/CSS understanding would help to learn it more easily.
With Bubble, we can build a complex app in a matter of time since it has a lot of work already automated with a lot of other plugins. This helps develop proof-of-concept or MVP apps very easily and quickly.
Highly customizable drag and drop editor and the new responsive engine is just awesome
I didn't have any issues using bubble, one thing bubble can improve is allowing us to share reusable elements/blocks between apps easily.
Building my own SaaS without code.
Nice tool to build a SaaS based CRM - MVP and test it on the market. Gonna to try it. No-code is the new code.
I don't have enough feedback yet to say anything.
Same, I don't have enough feedback yet to say anything.
It is incredible how much time and funds Bubble.io has saved us. From the few quotes we gathered before commiting to Bubble, if we got our app done traditionally, we would have easily spent upwards of 25x of what we spent developing on Bubble. The no-code workflows are pretty in-depth, so the sky is the limit with the app's functions, but at the same time, they are easy to understand. While we did outsource some development to Bubble pros, there are many tweaks a 'normal' person can do without too much time commitment to learning - as their learning resources are on point, quick and easy to follow. The plugin and template marketplace is also helpful, and most questions or issuses people faced have already been answered by the community on the forums. We encountered a bug a few months after launch with some unsolvable issues occouring from no where, which prevented from publishing the app. We found a workaround, but to my pleasent suprise, when reporting the bug, the Bubble team got back to us and didn't just give us an automated response. They actually looked into the problem personally.
The responsive design element of the no-code solution is the only thing that in my eyes prevents the product from being perfect. It is very finicky and inconsistent from my experience. I see the potential in what they did with the ai element of it, where it is easy to use for any user, but I would love the option to have more control, and have it done like it is in Webflow.
As an agency, we cut down on time wasted in 'communication hell' by creating our own platform for all project management and client communication. The client dashboard we created additionally makes our service more premium, desirable, and churn rates have dropped significantly because of it.
