Compare IONOS with other popular tools in the same category.
IONOS is very simple to use. This is important because we have many people in our office who are not computer savvy and this works out great.
There are no free accounts or free trials to first try out when seeing if it works for our company office.
We love the built-in photo editor and image library.
IONOS is an excellent webhosting company with reliable servers and service, it is also fairly priced.
Not many 12-24 month contracts and the first-level support isn't very good.
Hosting web applications or websites.
Easy to use and they work with you if you have any issues.
Between all the changes they went through as 1and1, they had different emails on file and I never received notification of changes in service and billing. But they were very reasonable about the situation and a solution for it.
Basic web hosting services.
I like that 1&1 has been around for a while and is a widely known and respected. There is only so much I can assess based on experience, so reading great things about other people's experiences gives me high confidence in doing business with 1&1. As far as their services, I like their basic hosting plans, which include most of the vital tools we need to host websites and email. The email accounts work relatively well. We don't experience much delay when sending and receiving emails. The general pricing at 1&1 is decent and they regularly offer promotions.
Though 1&1's customer support is generally nice and knowledgeable in some areas, they seem quite limited when it comes to helping us with specific problems related to performance. It would be great if they can take closer looks at certain aspects of our overall setup, installed applications and code that might cause functionality problems. We also had some problems with databases that took us a long time to figure out on our own.
We've used 1&1 to host websites and email for our business. We post blog entries that can be linked from social media posts from Twitter and Facebook. We experience great uptime for most of time with 1&1. We've also used 1&1 hosting to post e-commerce pages where people can pay for certain services or register for webinars. 1&1 has generally been reliable and is versatile platform to host most of our web assets.
The ease of use with the platform. I like that I can still use Outlook for my email but can access 1&1 from anywhere if I need to.
The set up I have for my email in 1&1 and Outlook do not talk. So folders I have in one are not the same in the other.
When something cannot be located on Outlook, usually you can go to 1&1 and find it there.
I like that 1&1 is easy to sign up for and use. We were able to sign up and set up a some starter web pages within an hour or so. They offer many common web services like domain registration, web hosting and email accounts. They provide many supplementary features like databases, DNS management, subdomains and file management. The design of the 1&1 account interface is neat and organized. They don't upsell too much, which is something I've seen other web hosts do. The pricing is typically well within the limits of our business expenses.
I think the performance of some of our 1&1 pages can be slow at times. The cause of the slower performance is sometimes hard to pinpoint and the 1&1 support team is often unable to help us with this matter. We also had some issues with malware for specific websites that 1&1 couldn't help us much with. They pointed out some possible causes, but couldn't look more directly into it.
1&1 has been a solid web hosting platform overall. They have allowed us to host many valuable web resources that we use frequently for business, sales and marketing research. We can post information about our company along with submit forms that visitors can use to sign up for various digital media we offer. The uptime has been very good with 1&1, which is important so that our online resources and assets can be constantly accessible.
I like that 1&1 is has been a solid web hosting provider that we have been able to use for hosting business websites and landing pages. The uptime has generally been very good and their customer support has done a good job at responding to issues we have. I also like that we have access to many different types of web services, like email hosting and domain registration, that often have discounts or coupon codes that make the prices very low. The user account interface has a very simple layout and design with tools that are straightforward to use.
I don't think 1&1 has much to dislike overall, but their page loading speeds are typically slower than some other websites I've seen with similar web page structures. I think 1&1 can do a better job at increasing the efficiency of their shared hosting plans. When we talk to customer support about this particular issue, they often don't have many low cost solutions to offer.
The websites and landing pages we've hosted with 1&1 have been a great informational tool for customers and leads. We haven't had heard of many online visitors having trouble loading pages, so 1&1 uptime and reliability have been good for our online business and marketing effort. The cost for most of 1&1's services have been very good, so they have really helped to minimize our expenses while giving us significant value.
Prices are fair and dashboard of my domain names is easy to navigate and manage.
Prices are reasonable, I do wish they were even lower for renewals.
I find it easier to purchase and maintain all domain names in one place.
The best facility is that of ‘Auto-renew’, it helps in saving time. Moreover they have managed to provide nearly all services within just few clicks. Their easy setup is just amazing to choose.
As the cPanel is missing there are certain complications that arises but they were all solved with their customer support.
Always facing issue with SSL installation but they fixed it quick
You can easily setup everything with just few clicks.
Classic cpanel missing. So i find it little bit bit complicated to use
Auto-Renewal they offer very cheap price for first time usage of any product but after that even SSL service look way to costly
1&1 is on the more affordable end of web hosting. They only charge me around 12$ approx for 1 year hosting including .com domain name and they also offers many good services like for free like SSL protection.
They never asked you before charging for the trail service. It pissed me off when they offer me free mail spam protection trail period i thought they would asked me before charging me but it auto renewed and balance has been deducted from my paypal account.
1and1 does not provide CPanel which is the bare minimum required to handle Word Press and do basic web support. They have there own CPanel which is way to complicated for new bloggers.
I love how affordable and easy it is to buy a domain.
They call you and harass you to buy other products and you try to tell them no but some how they almost force you to sign up and cancel on your own time.
Buying a domain and having them as a registrar
Reasonable prices, usable features that are not priced a la carte
Email marketing from the company seems like bad MLM marketing
Needed web host for new business venture.
A simple and affordable hosting service. Purchasing domains is easy with good support provided throughout.
A lot of follow up up-selling. You can unsubscribe, but a bit annoying.
Set up domain and hosting for my Wordpress site very quickly and easily. A smooth process.
Offers lots of one click installs, very affordable, a much better user interface compared to the leading web hosting service, GoDaddy
Customer service is slow, documentation can be lacking. It's still cheap hosting.

I mainly like this service because it has everything you need for a professional web page in one place, Hosting service without bandwidth limit, domain purchase, management of multiple domains in one account, email with the domain name, Each email with your inbox independent of each other. The redirection of a domain to a different web page is fast, DNS services are fast and stable. The control panel has all the tools to control the domains, create the databases, I like the hosting control panel, it has everything you need.
IONOS blocked my user account for no reason, I wanted to log in to my account and it had everything blocked, I could not receive or send email from the IONOS platform, databases without access, they told me that I had to phone technical support but without support in Spanish, email support is slow and I cannot solve my problem, you have to evaluate this problem. I am deducted money from my credit card with the IONOS blocked account, it does not refund the money.
This service is perfect because there are no bandwidth limits for hosting, each email that I believe is independent, has its own mailbox and plans up to 50gb per email. I work with MS Office from my mail with IONOS.
I like Ionos performance, because for a business website to meet its key objectives, it must load quickly and be accessible at all times. Nice customer support. You can buy a domain at your convenience.
They should place a free trial, so that the client can see the advantages offered by Ionos, I recommend taking this observation into account.
It helps us a lot with basic web hosting services, we grew professionally. It allows us to maintain easy communication with customers.
Ionos helps you learn about information technology that is easy to understand and use for everyone. Committed to delivering powerful, reliable and safe products. You can buy your domain and choose a suitable package for your company, I like it.
In the billing part sometimes they charge for a product that you have decided not to restore.
It allows us to grow and have a professional look online, I get my web sites and domains, for everything I need. Easy communication with customers and suppliers.
I'v been using their services for a little over a year. The initial setup was simple and included very enticing discounts on domain registration.
While the initial registration was great with very deep discounted services, the renewal at registration wasn't that great with higher than expected costs.
domain registration and webhosting
The initial new customer deals are the best I've seen around, and there are many different hosting packages available to accommodate different needs. But, more than one domain requires a middle-sized package which can be expensive.
The hosting packages are not cheap, and the renewal prices for domains are expensive too. Easier to just keep it in one place though than to let them expire then re-register
Blog hosting, domains, personal website hosting. All domains are in a single place, all hosting is available from the same dashboard.
I really like customer support even so I haven't call in a while the times I got to call they really take care of the issues
The interface, they have improved through the years but still fill like old
I only use them as my second place for registering domains
I like the simplicity of it plus how fast you can get a Website up and running through the many creative templates they've got!
The HTML feature is really difficult to use and doesn't fully provide support.
To launch a simple Website within hours without too much hassle nor issues.
There are lots of discounts, seriously tons of them! We've got a domain and hosting for less than $12 a year! Comes with unlimited subdomains and emails and possibly more depends on your luck.
Although we all the offers, the original prices are still higher than other companies. So be sure to look for discounts and offers, those are awesome and mind-blowing! And one important thing to know is that there are a lot of restrictions like files quota, you have 10GB quota and you have only used 2GB but it says you have reached a limit, files limit. My file limit is 262144 files, if you have more files for that, you will need to call them. Oh and they don't usually provide cPanel, and they charge a fee for cPanel.
We needed a web hosting service and we are on a tight budget, that's when we found out an offer from 1&1. And we have gotten our domain and hosting for less than $12 a year! That's insane!
The pricing was unbeatable when price shopping domains at a yearly rate. The rate hasn't gone up either which has been awesome.
Sometimes the customer service takes a bit of time to get back to you, but once they do it's helpful.
I needed an affordable domain name and for the yearly price, this was unbeatable.
I've been a 1&1 customer for 15 years and though I've grown into many contracts, they've allowed me to keep my legacy contract in place at the same pricing I started with. They offer many hosting options and are fairly easy to get setup with.
The support has sometimes been hit or miss. Generally, things work as they should, but the support in the shared hosting tier is not always very helpful. Once you get into the VPS or Server support tier, their support has been excellent.
We have several hosting packages and development environments through 1&1. They host our main company's website and have generally been a solid service for us.
My 1and1 likes: Affordable web hosting - I only paid £0.99 per month PHP 7 - 7 is tested to be 3x faster than Php5 for wordpress :) SSD drives - meant to be faster than standard disks HTTP/2 - meant to be faster Offers Windows Servers
My 1and1 dislike: I am missing the standard web hosting control panel: cPanel. 1and1 Custom Panel is not very good. lack of web support chat. most other web hosts do have live chat support.
provides domains, email and web hosting services for my new web business. Plus extra search marketing and design options.
I like that I was able to purchase a domain for my design portfolio site (being reworked) at a reasonable price, along with knowing what I was actually purchasing (privacy, iccan fee, etc). The auto-renew feature has saved me tons.
I hate that I am sent an invoice with a certain date via email to find out it is more of a "ballpark" date to be charged. I am used to either being charged automatically or if there is an issue having my real bill date and paying instantly by card, PayPal, etc. The whole billing part is a downside.
I am able to purchase a domain to help with my design site for my clients and personal projects. You have to have your presence online to reach more clients and other amazing people to work with beyond your location.
I needed to setup a website quickly and I need a domain name. So I search the net to find some cheap domain name to buy. Usually I use Godaddy but I wanted to see what's out there. And my good search landed me to a 1&1 special that allows to buy .com domains for 1 dollar. Seriously, 1 dollar. I since bought a couple domain name from them.
after having bought some domain name with them, I had to stop using their service because they started to limit the special offer by country. Since I'm outside the U.S. I then could not buy new domains at special prices.
I need to buy new domain names at cheap price I tried them for a while. I bought around 5-6 domains from them.
