Once you are registered and your account is set up properly, things tend to go well. Their client support is also pretty good, tey answer fast and help you with your requests.
If for any reason your account is in any way unique you can end up with some issues and long email threads trying to figure out a fix with a support agent. In the end though we always found a good way but you need to be proactive and involved at least until your account gets back to the right track.
Providing EOR service so employees can be onboarded from more countries than the employer company is present
Fast implementation Few issues on the platform Quick response on Customer Support
No support during onboarding process to Client-side and disclosures are not made correctly
Reduced time to hir as EOR across multiple countries
I like that they take care of the onboarding process. They seem to take full ownership of that and it eases the burden of the HR team to not have to worry about collecting documentation.
Inflexible on many things. We can't opt out of the default Allianz medical plan (even against a cancellation fee) until the renewal date because it's been over 30 days. We just found out an employee was accidentally set up on the annual plan and we're told we can't switch her to monthly. The communication seems scattered, I'll ask my account manager a question and then I'm cc'ed into a support email with customer service by her. Sometimes our employees are being told very important instructions (maternity leave, for example) and we're not looped in by Remote.com at all, I only find out later when talking to the employee directly. The incentive/expense deadline of the 10th to get people paid in time for the month is WAY too strict. If I submit something on the 11th they now have to wait for the END of the following month for those funds.
Employing globally. I think they have done a very good job at establishing themselves worldwide and the software is very nice to use. I know I gave slight critical feedback about communication with our AM in the previous question, but she's actually been very helpful and I'm happy that she takes our concerns seriously.
The remote team is reachable for questions. Access to documents and creating requests for leave or expense reimbursements are easy. The UI is simple. I haven't tried any competitors.
There is a considerable lack of information/documentation on benefits and how things work. The healthcare plan was confusing and didn't cover much so I canceled it and went with another through my work. Responses to questions usually take 1-2 days+ There is a lack of flexibility that's available with other employers. E.g. salary sacrificing or extra super contributions.
I'm working for an overseas company while receiving Australian income from an Australian company. This has made it easier to deal with banks/loans/creditors.
it's a cool company and allows people to work fully remote
delayes in setting up contracts and checkout process. people are too processy
is helping company to hire people worldwide
The customer support at Remote is very friendly. I usually hear back within 24 hours, and they follow up to make sure that they answered my question. The portal is clean and easy to navigate.
I have never had resolution the first time I heard back from customer support (this is after waiting 24 hours). They have also disabled ACH payments, so the billing process is more tedious than they had advertised and they've given no indication when or if ACH payments will return. Lastly, it was unclear when our employee would receive his first paycheck and the new and "improved" dashboard is always incorrect.
It is nice to have Remote's support for navigating insurance and local employment laws. Once everything was set up and the first paycheck and bills came through, Remote feels like a service running in the background and not one we have to manage intensively.
The possibility of not having to follow the paperwork for a job in another state
Troubleshooting is not straightforward because you can't talk directly to the payroll managers.
I work for a company in another country without having to worry about paying taxes in different places
The chat bot. Its ready to help you and it connects you with real people that answears all your questions.
The time process could be shorter. And emails could be answear faster.
Legal employment contract, job payment.
The platform is very intuitive with basic features and easy to use. Their customer support follows through the cases.
The platform lacks details related to time off.
Remote allows to manage a diverse workforce spread around the world which does home office.
Great platform very well structured and easy to use.
Costumer support although speedily, most of the times is very hard from them to understand the issue, therefore not very helpful. Apart from specialized support (payroll for example), which are usually very efficient.
Remote was helpful to some extent to get my contract and tax situation in order on the country I moved to. However, some of the support was just following guides (some outdated) and sharing them, instead of actually trying to understand the problem to be helpful.
Once you are set up with Remote, you don't need to worry about anything much, not even logging in frequently. They take care of the payroll and leave management for me. Their portal is very user-friendly and intuitive. It seems like they have been continuously improving their services by adding more features to make it even better.
During the setup and onboarding process, I encountered a few challenges that made the process frustrating. The lack of upfront information and details in the onboarding documentation made it difficult for me to understand important aspects such as leave and benefits. As a result, I had to frequently reach out to customer support to obtain more information. I found dealing with customer support to be challenging as they often provided generic responses that didn't address my specific concerns. It took multiple roundtrips to get the information I needed.
My company is based in Australia, and I work remotely from the United States. Remote allows me to work in the United States without my company having to establish a business here.
I can work remotely for a business situated in another country.
The health plans are partnered with an international provider, which know nothing about local requirements. Practically useless. I've not once had pay come through without me having to chase up an error with the accounting.
It provides an EOR system, so I can work remotely across country boundaries
You can freely change where are you working at as an employer and as an employee, which is quite useful. Everything is fully digital so you don't have to use paper and such.
Everything took some tickets to get resolved. Some replies got DAYS to arrive and had to open tickets for some opt-outs, some issues with the ThanksBen/Cobee benefits. I simply wouldn't recommend it at all.
Remote allows you being contracted in countries where the employer ins't installed which is quite useful.
The salary arrived perfectly in time....
Nor possible to have a phone call, only digital communication
Hiring an employee in a country without having a local legal entity
Customer support was really easy from the in-page chat, a bit slower via email but still, the agent proposed to schedule a call a couple of days after. It matches perfectly the Costa Rican regulations
The salary is paid only in CRC and even if the company is from the USA, it can not be received in USD. One of the best advantages, of working with companies in the US and also certain companies in Costa Rica, is earning in USD, due to the CRC devaluation. This for me was a significant turndown.
Connecting with a company outside the country, while still meeting Costa Rican regulations.
Everything is online and self service which is good but can also be bad
The Iack of being able to talk directly to someone, when there are problema to solve. Having e-mail and open support tickets is nice but it's not the same thing of being able to talk to someone directly
Work to UK company with a Portuguese contract without the UK company having the need to create a Portuguese branch
I like that their site is user friendly and aesthetic.
Processes. Onboarding experience. Payroll. HR functionality.
Remote employment is definitely catered by remote but management is a different conversation.
Easy to onboard, easy to find payslips, easy to request time off.
Relocation information is very difficult to find. Customer service gives different answers. I spent several months stuck on the same issue with several employees. Though, they were all nice and respectful when they tried to help. It was just a bit inconsistent with info
Employer doesn't need legal entity in UK
The platform in itself, the UX, the design, it's easy to use. Also, customer support is somewhat available most of the time.
Customer support takes a long time to go through requests, and having access to the chat doesn't help because they redirect you to another team (then why is there a chat?). Also, some days of PTO were added by the company that I didn't take, and I didn't notice until I logged in to the platform and went to check my PTO. I wish that had been communicated to me when that happened.
Being able to be hired in Spain without the need of a legal entity. Clarity in payslips and team available for queries.
