We are able to granularly assign permissions to 480+ content authors across 14k+ pages which allows for unit-specific users to champion their content; as they know it best. We've customized workflow to allow a "central" review process to aid in the adherence to our company style guide and standards.
While this is super helpful to our organization, it often feels heavy when "central" needs to be creative on the fly. I think this will be remedied with the adoption of SXA, but we haven't made it there yet.
I basically outlined this in my answer to the likes of Sitecore question. We are able to tackle some massive content authoring challenges.
Connectivity to any data source, data exchange framework, customization.
Entry level doesn't exist. It's a steep learning curve and takes a development effort to do most things. A sitecore partner is almost a requirement
Selling homes, lots of exposure.
I like the flexibility - I feel like I can do anything using Sitecore.
It can be complicated and time-consuming to implement new features.
We are able to see data on the individual user - and can personalize the experience.
A relatively newer platform, there is room for growth and expansion of capabilities and services, most features currently feel like freshly launched post-beta.
Extensive development effort required to use the platform, very few native features out of the box.
Mostly building a platform for future ecommerce growth and responsive web layouts.
From a developer stand point, I am able to quickly develop new features and functionality. The flexibility is great. From an authoring stand point, The content authoring process we use is highly customized and has been easy to work with. We have some fairly complex workflows and the system has been able to handle all of them. we have about 100+ workflows in the system. The ability to manage permissions on the workflows so only the appropriate users have access to them has been good. I have worked with your support staff a lot and they have been great to deal with
The upgrades have been very painful. We are upgrading from version 8.2 to 9.2 and have encountered some challenges. We have a very secure environment and the upgrade scripts do not work win our environment. We've had to make some customizations to them.
OUR CLIENT HAS HAD AN EXISTING CMS FOR NEARLY 15 YEARS. WE MIGRATED THEM OFF THE OLD PLATFORM AND INTO SITECORE. FOR THE MOST PART THEY EASILY PICKED UP THE CONCEPTS AND THE AMOUNT OF CONTENT BEING CREATED AND EDITED HAS INCREASED
Sitecore's data model, roles and permissions. Sitecore is realizing important integration points and continues to respond by building and providing them out of the box. For example, integration with Salesforce. Sitecore data model and API's also enable a wide array of possibilities and integrations. While Sitecore's analytics is not mature enough (I have seen version 8, not version 9 yet) but have heard that analytics in version 9 is quite mature. We still use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.
Pricing. Performance of Experience Editor. More importantly, it seems that some partner company implementations do not meet Sitecore's own guidelines and best practices and will cause pain during version upgrades. Version upgrade is a huge effort mostly due to inclusion of external components that seem to be lacking out of the box.
Managing original authored content (news and analysis) and other digital assets.
Sitecore is an incredibly flexible tool, a lot of user friendly and non-developer friendly as well.
The media library is not really suited for large amounts of media.
Having multiple content editors across the US, means that we have content being put in differently across the US, and this helps us put a little control on it, and allow them to flexibly market how they need to at the same time.
Ability to manage our global website(s) from one platform
Version control for us internally is tough
Multple sites controlled by one central team
Integrated support across multiple websites Automation Multi-language support Built in eDM Basic SEO
Inflexible, less user friendly functions and lengthy process for Sitecore older version, hope it gets better when we upgrade to latest but it could be due to our current website vendor. Have to manually duplicate contents in translated languages. Require frequent scheduled maintenance.
User friendly functions and flexiblity for administrators, ease of use, security. Better design and layout to improve user experience.
Sitecore is a bit more complex, so that it would be more of a struggle to simply make one change especially via accident.
Sitecore has a weird filing system for setting up pages. Compared to other similar platforms, sitecore is not intuitive.
Adding web content isn’t straightforward and filing the documents before placing them on the site can be daunting.
The tool is easy to use and easy to add in content.
Sometimes takes a bit longer to load in the content.
Hosting our content to be used on our email platform and content xml feeds.
This platform has tons of capability and continues to evolve and expand.
As a medium-to-large business, it is challenging to leverage all the power this tool has to offer. It requires customization to enable most functions and developers are costly and often difficult to acquire or retain.

SiteCore is an expensive platform in both licensing and from a development standpoint.
SiteCore has allowed our businesses the opportunity to increase our content authoring and deployment frequency as well as enable our websites to reach more consumers, more quickly and with scale.
Have now implemented a very sophisticated web content management platform with capabilities well beyond what we have had in the past
Steep learning curve for use of the platform means my team is ramping up slower than expected and quirks in the product deployment have introduced quality issues that distract us from our road map execution
Moved to a modern commercial CMS platform (from open source)
I like how quick and easy it is to upload, modify, create anything on the website.
Though the approval process is needed to a degree, in the latest Sitecore, it feels rather cumbersome, and actually slows down fixes and updates at times.
High usability for individual business units - quite an improvement from our hybrid custom CMS. Much easier to manage as well.
A solid enterprise CMS, suitable for managing large scale sites and multiple sites within the same framework. SImple authoring and relatively simple page build.
Some page creation is limited, although newer versions have resolved this and the Experience Accelerator is a terrific addition.

I really like the easy to use functionalities, for example finding the right links within your site to link to. I like that it is also very customizable and gives you the flexibility to manage your permissions.
It hasn't been compatible across all browsers for us and have found it to crash or lag.
Content management - it's been very easy to automate certain functions, especially for a multilingual website. This has saved us a lot of time.
