Squarespace Reviews: 4.4/5 — Solid Choice

The best feature of Squarespace is the ease of use, and speed of onboarding. I am able to teach my clients to use and manage their website in a matter of weeks vs the typical months it takes on other CMS's.

Adding custom functionality to a Squarespace site can be a chore, and often lead to errors in the responsive code. This is the biggest limiting factor of Squarespace.

I use Squarespace exclusively for my clients projects so everyday its a different a problem to be solved. Typically though we find that Squarespace is best suited for brochure websites.

Squarespace is beautiful to look at and is also very user friendly! Great for anyone to make a website!

I think that if you have a question about the platform, it's hard to get an answer.

Creating user friendly websites

I love how easy it is to make changes- add photos, change fonts, even the navigation is so easy. The whole experience is incredibly user-friendly.

I really wish there was an easier way to upload images for blog posts. The whole process is grating as a photographer trying to upload 50+ images per post.

Oh man, Squarespace is my website host so it's hosting all my info, contact, and portfolio for potential and current clients. It's really made my business standout and I get compliments on my website all the time.

Easy to use UX design - drag and drop capabilities, form creation, easily upload multiple forms of content, and password protect pages.

Analytics are fairly basic. I would like to be able to have a closer view into the users visiting and interacting with the website.

Squarespace provides a password protected training website for our partners. It hosts all of their training materials.

The ease of updating and changing content within the Squarespace platform makes it something I will most likely stick with for a long time. It is exceptionally reasonably priced for what you get and the quality they offer. The template options are also wonderful - the variety and ease of navigation, each one set up to fit different needs, all while looking amazing. I also like that you can change the specifics of the designs within each template, from fonts to color schemes, etc. This helps to really make it your own.

The process of connecting your domain with the template can be a challenge if you have never done so before. Might be nice to provide an option where someone from Squarespace can handle that setup maybe for an additional small fee.

It has helped us tremendously with letting people know who we really are as a conference and organization. It also helped us provide products online, receive donations, and be a platform that pushes people towards registration for our events. It helps us look more official and is in line with our brand.

Easy to use and I like all of the design templates. Great that their is always the chat available to help with any questions.

So far I have not found anything that I dislike.

Reports for inventory as far as cost of goods and goods sold. I wanted a total amount of money I had in inventory and the potential of money of my inventory.

Very easy to create dynamic websites that you can change on the fly. Plenty of templates, easy social media integration and robust features.

Hard to code in additional Schema.org code. This makes it hard to add in Rich Snippet data into the website to appear on Google.

Creating something clean and easy for people to browse and understand. I realize by having such an easy site to edit has made it easy to adjust to what my potential clients would like.

As a designer, I love the clean UI of both the website builder and finished site. Everything is easy to use and beautifully designed.

Hard to pin-point any cons. For the most part you can create anything you wish with the preset options Squarespace provides, plus, the ability to further customize CSS if you feel comfortable.

I've used Squarespace to jump-start the creation of a website. It allows me to utilize a diverse set of pre-set elements for any page to quickly create just about any website vision I have.

The first thing that I noticed about Squarespace is the user interface. It is very clean, organized and easy to navigate. I was able to redesign my website in five minutes. I had previously used Wordpress and it took me hours to go through the same process and it still wasn't where I wanted it to be.

I have been to a few networking events with marketing peers and they have mentioned that Squarespace does not have the in-depth back of house capability to put you on the front page of Google. I would like to see this changed because I love the look and ease of use without having to hire out for web design.

I am solving business problems surrounding time and money spent on marketing and web design. I am just starting my own business and it has been amazing to not have to take out loans for web development. Squarespace comes with a small cost, but the amount of time it has saved me is priceless.

I love that Squarespace has so many versatile web templates. The company makes it so easy to pick and choose one based off of your needs (website functions) and personal style (aesthetics) and there are a lot to choose from. That being said, your website won't necessarily look like another's who chose the same template, simply because there are so many options for customization. Each template I've tried out looks professional, crisp, and clean and I know that it would be very difficult for me to code the same exact website, because I'm new to the process. So for me, this is a practical option while I'm setting up a website through code which is taking me much longer. Squarespace works personally for me and my business needs and since I joined a year ago, they've added more capabilities that they didn't have before ie: email newsletter caption widgets, etc. In my opinion, it's worth a trial run to see if Squarespace is the answer for your needs!

I dislike that although there is a section where you can add custom code (for instance adding some html to the site) I can't figure out how to actually get the code to work properly. It always shows up as blank added space to the top header. This is probably more an issue on my end however, and I haven't been able to find much about it through Google search. However, I haven't spent a ton of my time looking for a solution either. Besides this slight hiccup, I can't say that there's anything I dislike about Squarespace. It serves a great purpose for me, personally. Keep in mind though, that if you're looking for a website to be much more tailored to your specific design requirements, this is probably not going to be the best option for you and I do believe that hiring a web designer and web developer is the better option in this case. Being a startup, I didn't mind compromising my design needs and settling on a built-in template for the time being.

It was taking too long to code my ideal website by myself, because it's the first time I'm doing it and it's a tough process to complete quickly, given the amount of time I have free to do it. However, I didn't want to stifle my ability to get my business off the ground, and I knew I'd have to have a website in order to do so. This is where Squarespace has been a life saver for me. I've been able to use it to get my business in front of my ideal clients and target market, while looking very professional. No one would know that it's a Squarespace template, so it's wroking perfectly for me while I continue to code my site on the side.

I like the interface. It is so user friendly and allows for easy website making.

I dislike that you are not able to edit the website on a mobile interface.

We don't have any business problems were are trying to solve but the benefits include the quickness of being able to make our website live and block those pages that we were still working on. We also have an rsvp system that is very easy to use and can be available with a code.

I love that squarespace has so many sleek designs, and that I can tweak many elements of each.

Sometimes there are too many restrictions, depending on the templates.

Squarespace is a very user friendly software to create your personal website for a small business, blog or personal portfolio. I currently use for my online portfolio. There are multiple different types of designs to choose from and you can tailor your design to your specifications. The team has been responsive when I've had questions AND it's affordable. All of these are positive qualities about Squarespace.

I think there are ares of opportunity for more data analytics to be included in the software. Tracking, info and more insights incorporated for the Squarespace user to easily review (clicks on website, etc) would be helpful.

I'm solving the problem of a lack of personal website with Squarespace. Squarespace benefits include an easy to operate website for me to distribute to my contacts.

It is extremely easy to use. It is very intuitive. Everything you need is right there and their customer service is awesome. I have never had a problem with them and it is affordable.

I don't like that you have to go to squarespace.com to log in. I wish there was a way of logging in from your own web domain.

I use squarespace for my photography portfolio. I have gotten a lot of business by having a website and the fact that it is so easy to use means I can constantly update it with new photos without it being a chore.

Quick to setup. Easy to navigate. Lots of different design template choices. Great, simple site design. Clean templates that easily are customizable to work with any business or personal site.

A little on the expensive side. If another company is able to provide a similar experience at a much lower cost this will not be as relevant.

Easy website design without knowledge of backend functionality.

As a visual designer, who is used to having someone code a website that I design in a layered Photoshop file, I was blown away by the ease and evolution over the years of Squarespace. The analytics feature is absolutely incredible. This is not just a program for designers. This can be used by the marketing team at your agency/wfh office, etc. You can really learn analytics just by using square space. It's an incredible experience.

I think the difficulty in changing color, font of text. It is limiting in the way that they set up their style guide preferences. Other than that, they seem to have integrated everything I love. Even Spotify!

Reimagining a stale website with the ease of Squarespace is something that I was even surprised that I was able to do. I pick up software learning extremely easy, but I've seen colleagues who have no design experience able to build websites. You can track analytics, which is a beautiful and helpful feature.

The multiple layout options and seamlessness of the designs along with the user-friendly interface makes this great for rookie designers and pros alike.

I honestly don't have any dislikes. Squarespace is my preferred - and only - method of creating websites.

Squarespace gives you options for contact forms, shows your business location on maps, and has a variety of preset pages for you to choose from. This creates a seamless experience for our customers.

After using multiple website providers, Squarespace is by far the easiest and most convenient. The ease of use, beautiful interface, extremely helpful staff, and affordability of Squarespace sets it far above its competitors. For a beginner new to my industry, Squarespace has made creating my website easy and without any stress at all. The Squarespace platform is extremely pleasing to the eye and pretty much extremely easy to use. My website had continued to appear seamless and perfect to visitors but will also look as though I have put a ton of time into it even though I have not! Yay for Squarespace!

You are required to re-verify your account information after one year, which is inconvenient. Definitely, use Squarespace as it is the best website provider out there. Sometimes it can be challenging when you first start using the platform. The templates can be difficult to search through and switching templates is a huge challenge as I have had to re do my entire site before just to change the template. It takes a little time to familiarize yourself with the tools on their website building platform, but once you get the hang of it, it will go off without a hitch.

Squarespace has allowed me to market my small business with little up-front cost while appearing to be extremely professional and easily managing a stunning website that showcases my work in the exact way that I envisioned.

I love leaving the technical aspects to SquareSpace. I no longer have to create backups before updating over 15 plug-ins that we ran in order to get Wordpress to do what we needed.

My only complaint is I can't dial in the SEO aspects as well as I could in Wordpress. It takes content from various parts of the site and I wish I could override the Meta Description as it's not always the best text for the actual website page.

We were subscribed to 3-4 software plug-ins for wordpress. Not only did this cost us money but they often conflicted with each other and caused us to have to restore our site from backups. We had a plug in for landing pages, forms to mailchimp automation, and SEO. Our template conflicted with this often and more than once we had to make changes to our CSS to over come the conflicts. With squarespace, this functionality is native and even a non-designer type like myself is able to crank out a decent landing page that looks professional.

I love that my website is 100% customizable. I can format my pages to look exactly the way I want them to.

It can be a little tricky figuring out how to achieve the look I'm aiming for, but I can always get a page to look the way I want it to.

Squarespace templates are easy to use, attractive, and professional looking. I enjoy using their interface and customizing the design elements. I also enjoy their Stripe application.

It can be challenging to maintain a website with custom elements when Squarespace updates their software. I do wish they had an interface that works with PayPal.
