Todoist Pros and Cons
- User friendly interface with a mobile app that makes it easy to assign tasks and use on a daily basis
- Perfect for easy workflows
- Easy real time progress tracking of tasks and due dates
- Less comprehensive in terms of features and functionalities than other available task managmeent options
Compare Todoist with other popular tools in the same category.
Todoist is simple to use and has many options to plan your day or work. It makes it easy to remember key items scheduled for the day so that you do not miss out on anything important.
Number of projects in free version are less.
I have a lot of things to remember during the day. I often forget to complete few of them due to my packed schedule. Todoist helps me to ensure I do not miss out or delay any task.
The User-Friendly Interface. Cross-Platform Accessibility. Versatile Task Management. Collaborative Features. Intelligent Scheduling. Productivity Insights. Integrations. Offline Functionality. Consistency across devices.
It can get very expensive if you need multiple people on a professional plan, however, they have added some new features recently that cut down on the overall cost.
Scheduling, task management, and project management. I can easily create a task for myself or others within the organization for different projects in seconds.
It was a super simple integration using Zapier. You can create the integration using the free package and you're able to maintain your tasks on your Todoist with ease!
That you do have to connect with Zapier. The integration only allows 100 task transfers for a free version and then after it is 19.99/m to keep getting tasks through the integration.
I'm able to keep contact with my team mates with notes in tasks as well as keep company teams notified by using the clickup integration. We've been able to cut down on multiple applications by using these two.
The prioritization function is great since it lets me rank jobs according to significance and makes sure the team works on the most important things. Furthermore, the interface's ability to set deadlines and generate reminders enhances our capacity to fulfill deadlines efficiently. Also, the ability to use customizable keyboard shortcuts has significantly streamlined our workflow, allowing us to quickly navigate between projects and tasks.
It would be nice to have additional customization choices for the study of productivity statistics and report display.
Setting due dates, priorities, and customized labels is made simple using Todoist, which helps my team's workflow function smoothly. Furthermore, the feedback option has enhanced our ability to work together, however I think we can still do better in this regard. In addition, the feedback feature has improved our collaboration.
- Intuitive interface makes it simple for users to add and manage tasks. - User-friendly design suitable for both beginners and advanced users. - Excellent Responsiveness Across Platforms - Maintains speed and efficiency even with extensive functionalities. - Streamlined operation allows for quick task management without lag. - Extensive customization options for tailoring tasks and projects. - Allows for detailed organization and prioritization, enhancing productivity. - Great contact with the Todoist team if you have any questions I've been using the app for probably more than 5 years and I see no reason to stop :)
To be honest - I have no reservations, the application is developing in a very good direction
Managing hundreds of tasks over time and their periodic organization
Extremely easy to use for all levels of technological understanding. I use Todoist several times a day and we have integrated this across our whole team. We've experienced far less chance of tasks being lost or forgotten and people stay accountable because of the notifications received upon completion. Our communication within the team has improved significantly and everyone seems to be managing their time better.
The app is a bit more fidgety to use when assigning tasks to someone with a set date. Also, it would be great if you could see when a task was assigned and an easier way to see who assigned it (rather than having to look at leaving a comment to determine this).
Team is more accountable at completing tasks and they are not forgotten. Previously we would write things down on post-it notes or notebooks but things were easily lost or forgotten and the priority was easily misinterpreted. Productivity and communication has definitely improved.
I have used Todoist for several years and this app has truly transformed my task management experience. To start, it's incredibly user-friendly. You can seamlessly access your tasks from various devices, which is super convenient. What's even more impressive is the natural language input. Type in your task, and Todoist works its magic by understanding your intention. And the smart date recognition is a real time-saver. If you mention a day or date, Todoist automatically sets your deadlines. The real highlight: the priority and project features are like a dream team for staying organized. You can effortlessly sort, filter, and structure your to-do list. When it comes to collaboration, Todoist's shared project function is a fantastic tool for team efforts. If you're looking for an app that simplifies your life, streamlines task management, and boasts an elegant design, Todoist is the way to go. I promise it's a productivity powerhouse with the simplicity to prevent a sharp learning curve.
I would love to see some enhanced offline functionality, because right now without a connection I can't see any of my tasks. The ability to integrate more third-party apps and services would be great, improved subtask handling to include dynamic dependent dates, and potentially a more robust calendar view. If I had to choose one thing to add to the roadmap for this app though, it would definitely be the option to add attachments directly to tasks.
So many task management apps are feature-rich but are ultimately too bulky to use quickly and constantly. Todoist absolutely nails it with a robust feature-set but a lightweight and quick interface.
Simple & Clean theme and not too much clutter of design and easy to use
need to add more features like project timeline and workflow
to manage my to do list well and reminding me
In all honesty, the best piece of Todoist is the universal keyboard shortcut. I love that nomatter what program I am in or who I am talking to, I can quickly add a task with natural language input, have it show on my calendar, and be on the date that I need in a flash. In my workplace, distractions come often, so being able to do this quickly makes sure I don't miss anything. The two-way calendar sync is also really a great feature that pairs well with this.
I use the free version and don't pay for the subscription, so I can't complain too much about the features. I wish the subtasks were structured a little better, but overall the app seems to work well for my needs with the free version.
Todoist is solving my ability to stay organized. I have realized that if I don't write things down, I forget them and it helps keep me on task and remember what I need to do in a timely manner, while also showing me in multiple places (the app, my phone, my calendar).
Todoist has many if not the most upsides from all of the todo list apps that I have tried, it not only helps me organize my work but life all around me. You can use Todoist on any app just for starters and many other features.
A few downsides that I and some people that were also using the software around me encountered were some technical issues when creating new tasks, and sometimes people found it challenging to navigate through the app.
Not only does Todoist help me understand and do the things that I need to do, but the Karma feature that is built in helps me do the things that I need to do and congratulates me.
Super easy interface, that is intuitively split per project and per category Exactly the right functionality for tasks: checklists, subtasks, the possibility to schedule various due dates Motivating, with task streaks and karma
It would be nice if it offered a possibility to colour code some tasks or projects, in order to make the views a bit more separated Nothing else really, I think it does everything really well
Organising my tasks in a clear way Staying motivated while working on bigger projects with more tasks Merging the tasks from different projects, workplaces and even personal ones
It has the ability to move tasks, and update tasks from your phone to then reflect on the desktop/online version
It doesn't sync to my calendar, having this feature would make it a game changer.
Scheduling, keeping my tasks up to date, doing my job well.
The ease of use and the effective way to segregate lists. Moreover the design is very simple and the appliaction is supported by Slack, Teams, Apple, Android and Windows
There is no adaptation to the widgets of Mac and the shortcuts to add task is very cumbersome.
Todoist is a very good tracker and a To-do list maintainer. It is very efficient to use and is crucial to task management.
Being able to have multiple projects and the ability to assign tasks to people has greatly increased the productivity within my workplace
You cannot have tasks run over multiple days, you have to instead have multiple tasks for each day
Everyone knows what tasks they need to be doing and when it is due. It is also much easier to see who I can assign tasks to
It would likely take me all day to explain everything I like. The is one of the most critical tools in my day to day, both professionally and personally. Its quick entry for offloading thoughts is amazing and the NLP processing of dates/times makes this even more efficient. Its such a simple setup at heart, which leaves little room for getting in my way, but also is so powerful that I can make it do anything I need. I have tried other tools in the past and none hold a candle to Todoist. I am such a fan of the values of the company that it makes it easy to be a part of this community.
Only silly things here. For example, when in a filter mode, you are restricted from customizing some of the views. This really is a non-issue, but would be nice. Nothing substantial here for me at all.
We have so many thoughts that come at us at any given time. When it comes to things that need to get done, Todoist is right there to handle. With multiple ways to input, I am confident that I will never forget to do anything. As soon as I have something come to mind, in to Todoist it goes. I trust it to resurface these when the time comes, and finding tasks is super easy.
The easy way to share and assign tasks and follow them through easily.
Nothing to add. All goes well with my colleagues.
To develop projects and tasks with my peers and know exactly how it is going.
I like how Todoist helped me in organizing my task. I also love how friendly this app is. The syncing of the app to the windows version is mindblowing. Simple yet helpful.
The app is beneficial; no app is perfect.
Todoist helped me prioritize my task, and reminds me of my schedules and meetings.
Todoist intellisense is superb, and we can quickly add dates times and priorities to tasks without having to use the mouse. It is highly accessible. It has android and ios support as well and is continuously coming up with new updates and features
It has a very limited free tier. You can only add 5 projects in the free version. It also doesn't allow reminders and notifications for the free version. I believe it could be made a lil more generous for the free tier
Todoist is the application I use to quickly add tasks and plan them so that I don't forget. It has great cross platform accessibility, widgets and apps, so that I can always stay updated
It is very flexible. You can prioritize tasks, break larger tasks into smaller tasks and schedule each small task. You can set up your own categories. There is a mobile app for keeping track on the go. Has all kinds of tools. And sends daily reminders to your email, with lots of encouragement. There are even productivity blogs!
You really have to keep at and be proactive. If you are not looking at your list daily and being actively involved, it can seem like just another to do list. That is not Todoist's fault. But you really have to be committed to using it.
Before using Todoist, I forgot important due dates, I forgot to write down tasks that needed to be done in the future, and I was doing the wrong things first. Todoist taught me how to organize my tasks so that I tackled the hard jobs first, got them done on time, and kept me productive. Todoist also allows you to divide work tasks from personal tasks so you don't forget any but so you organize your day. It's easy to move tasks around and re-prioritize as new projects get thrown at you or if things become more complex.
I love that Todoist helps me manage my time wisely and schedule tasks according to priority. They also have widgets available which is super helpful in ios16
I don't like that I have to manually turn off notifications every now and then.
I have trouble managing time and projects as a freelancer, so Todoist helps me solve this.
How easy and creative the templates are on organizing daily tasks. Having tasks able to repeat themselves on specific days is amazing to make sure I don't forget anything for a client.
Not the biggest fan of how projects are limited based on the paid version, but understandable as their free version includes most of their updates and new features.
Solved my need to organize all my tasks for my book of clients. No task is now too small to remember. Just put the item on a categorized list and remind me what day I need to complete it.
The quick add method and the natural language input beats any clicking and tapping that other task management tools have. For example, you can say "add a task every 23rd of the month or every 2nd Monday" and todoist will handle this like a champ.
The subtasks can be improved and also I don't like that they don't support deadlines as "things" does. Also, you cannot do boards for filters and labels. Would love to have the ability to have more customization on the swiping. For example, if I swipe half the way it is completed, but if I go more than half it would delete the task.
It is literally running my life. You can put anything in Todoist from complex projects to everyday mundane tasks in your personal life. You can also add reminders for personal things such as drinking medication, car registration, do taxes etc.
Free plan with great features for project or task management Intuitive and super easy to create, schedule and prioritize tasks The possibility to export projects. The app version is fantastic!
The reminders and automatic backups are unavailable for the free plan User roles available only in premium options
Organization Task management Projects
ToDoist is very simple but very easy to use. I love that it picks up the dates or days written into the headline and assigns it to that day.
It's very simple, which is find, as I don't find anything missing, but it would be cool if if had some other features, like visualisation software.
Todoist makes it very easy to keep track of my to-do list. It's very helpful at keeping track of lists of tasks across various clients.
The UI of Todoist is simple yet fully loaded with all the required options. The automatic date/day detection from the Add Task panel improves the experience. It also synchronizes very well with other calendars like Google Calendar.
There is a bug in the app, both windows app and the android app, because of which it does not synchronize easily. It happens because the app uses "http" requests instead of "https" and in many places like my workplace network, all "http" requests are blocked.
Todoist helps me manage my tasks very well. It helps me get things done and efficiently allows me to manage the tasks to postpone or prepone. It sends regular emails as well for overdue tasks.
Todoist is extremely simple to use and the built in functions for adding deadlines are super quick and functional
There are not enough administrative permissions for sub-users if you are working with a team (allowing the deletion of tasks, etc)
Todoist solves the issue of keeping tasks on pieces of paper or in various places where you can't keep track of them all
Recurring tasks are usually pretty simple in Todoist. When I have a ton of projects I can hide the ones I haven't started
Hidden projects will not appear my list of active projects neither will they be backed up
Automated To-Do list Lets me sync projects with my calendar I have a visual representation of my productivity
The speed at which data can be entered (captured), the flexibility (labels, colors, etc) and it's compatibility with the best time management practices such as GTD.
Very little, only challenging details such as not being able to attach files when quick-adding a task.
Organizing projects and related tasks from everywhere, with collaboration, all in a simple but very powerful interface.
ToDoist is so simple, clean, and easy to use! The ability to input natural text that automatically translates to due dates & priority is a lifesaver-- it makes entering to do items quick and thoughtless. I am a huge fan of how many features come with even the free version.
There is a little bit of a learning curve when getting your Todoist workspace set up initially. It can take a second to fully learn all of the terminology, but overall this isn't too much of a hurdle.
I use this to structure my projects at work, both big and small. It helps provide a clear scaffolding for getting things done. I have benefitted greatly from using Filters to view different priority tasks at work.
