WP Engine is the company that we recommend and have used with success for over 10 years now. WP Engine prides itself on being one of the fastest hosting companies. Some of the other advantages WP Engine offers is daily time machine like backups for easy rollback or restores. They also handle all security. If your site is ever hacked they will take full responsibility and restore it at no cost. Another great features is that they offer a clone button of your live site that is copies your site to one of two staging environments. This is great for development as it create a "sandbox" site for development and testing without affecting your current, live site. Above all, their support is without parallel. They offer 24/7 chat and phone support with actual engineers who can help you with any issue you have with the site. On countless occasions they have been there to quickly help resolve any issues.
The cost can go up for higher traffic plans.
Ease of use for hosting, support, ability to create staging site all help solve development issues so we can be more productive.
Back-end staging works well and I feel like my information is safe. Has some safety features that have helped me when using conflicting plugins.
Because I am not a tech some things are hard for me to understand when making backend changes but I have had support when needed from my host.
My web team has helped when I can't figure things out on my own.
Fast, reliable help with anything. Confidence that WP Engine keeps my website safe and online.
A small quibble that you don't have easy access to all files like you would in c-panel but that is why they are a managed host
Uptime, speed, reliability and the knowledge that my website is secure without resorting to various plugins.
Tech support is responsive and helpful. The service is very secure – none of my sites have ever been hacked on this environment, unlike with budget hosting plans.
The service is very expensive. You do not have access to C-panel or equivalent. There are limitations on site traffic and storage. You can only host Wordpress sites here.
WP Engine has saved me a great deal of time when it comes to bug fixing as support is always on hand and responsive. I don't waste time fixing hacked sites anymore.
WP Engine's platform is easy to use, reliable, secure, cost-effective and the customer support is second to none.
Nothing I can think of. The platform is better than any other hosting platforms I've used before.
WP Engine solves the problem of bad WordPress hosting. There are so many hosting platforms out there for WordPress, and in my opinion, WP Engine stands above the rest.
Automatic updates are done regularly. Smooth process to update
Nothing that I can think of right now. Support has been helpful when needed.
Quick access to our site for billing, Wordpress etc.
I like to recommend WP Engine to my clients with WordPress sites, especially if they have any concerns about security, scalability, or getting online tech support answers quickly.
I have no complaints about WP Engine. I have always found them to be reliable and responsive.
WP Engine makes it easy to set up staging server and development environments for clients, which has helped me many times as clients revamp their sites.
Fast TTFB and page load times across multiple sites. Easy to manage multiple instances and make backups or promote changes to production. The WP Engine support team has been great to work with the few times we've needed them, answering tickets almost immediately.
We've had some intermittent issues with the CDN feature, but WP Engine has always been proactive about communicating with us and offering solutions.
We are managing multiple web properties running WordPress, allowing us to focus on our business goals instead of constant server, platforms, and plugin updates.
User Interface is well thought out and intuitive. Customer support is incredible!
Nothing! I spent a good bit of time trying to think of a dislike, I just don't have any!
Easily utilizing CDN's, Their backup system makes keeping archives & backups a breeze.
The immediate support team always ready to help solve all or our needs.
There are some server limitations that aren't available to adjust, but the support team is always available to help.
They provide reliable, secure, and fast WordPress hosting solutions.
It's very easy to navigate and find exactly what you need
Would wish they had an email hosting option as well so I can combine it with the website
Hosting multiple websites all in one place for several regions
We don't have to worry about our sites and web apps when we host with WPE. Their product performs exceptionally well. It's secure. If we need support, their team is there and ready to help (and they actually know their product). The peace of mind goes a long way. I can't imagine hosting elsewhere.
Account reps tend to move around or get promoted a lot. It can be fatiguing where we have to start over, relationally. Also, the new reps assigned to us are always eager to connect, learn more, etc. That's great -- except when you have to do it repeatedly.
WPE doesn't coast. They're always innovating. We don't have to lean on them to adopt new tech. Often, they are informing US of new products and approaches.
The one-click development, staging, and production environments are easy to manage. I also like the Local tool. WP Engine seems to be really invested in the developer experience and trying to improve WordPress development in general.
I wish our reps were a little more involved in our agency partnership. I've gotten a few calendar invites from them, only to have them cancel at the last minute. It makes me feel like we're not a big enough partner or something for them to care about us.
We host 25-30 WordPress websites for our clients and internal tools. WP Engine makes the hosting and maintenance of these sites very easy. We especially like the Smart Plugin Manager so we know that our WordPress plugins are always up to date.
With WP Engine, sites rarely go down, migration is easy, and they provide a ton of great tools for managing your sites.
It's a little more on the pricier side compared to standard hosting packages, and bandwidth can play a larger role in your plan than you may realize.
With tools like WP Local, WP Engine makes building and deploying sites in a consistent and controlled environment straightforward. Daily backups ensure if anything ever goes wrong, you can click a button and go back to before the issue arose.
Their customer support is by far the most helpful support system I've ever used (not just hosting platforms too, any product or service.) In the decade or more that I've used WP Engine, there hasn't been a single instance where my issue didn't get resolved incredibly quickly after hopping on with their support live chat. In addition, their UI is extremely intuitive and fast, and allows me tons of freedom to set up my servers however I want.
Honestly, nothing comes to mind. They're far and away the best option for WordPress hosting, and their pricing is incredibly reasonable. Especially at the enterprise level, they're actually cheaper than many other enterprise hosting options.
Often, hosting can be a significant pain point in the website development space, requiring hours and hours of troubleshooting that wastes everyone's time and money. WP Engine has all but eliminated that problem for my business. Through their incredibly intuitive and powerful UI, I can simply and easily set up my servers however I want, create FTP accounts with robust permissions, and even set up free SSLs for my domains in minutes. And if I do happen to run into an issue, their industry-leading customer support continually blows me away with how quickly they take care of whatever hurdle is in front of me.
I have been using WPEngine for my WordPress hosting needs for the last six years and have been extremely satisfied with the service. The platform is user-friendly and easy to navigate, making it simple to manage client websites. The customer support team is also top-notch, always available to assist with any issues or concerns. The site speed and uptime have been excellent, giving me peace of mind that client websites are always running smoothly. Overall, I highly recommend WPEngine to anyone needing a reliable and efficient WordPress hosting solution."
It's worth noting that some users may find the pricing higher than other hosting providers, especially for small or personal websites. Additionally, WPEngine only supports WordPress and doesn't offer other website-building options. This can be an issue for users who want to use a different platform or have multiple websites on various platforms.
The benefits of using WPEngine are: Peace of mind Improved website performance Improved security Efficient customer support Easy website management Regular backups Automatic updates for WordPress and its plugins
Comes with multiple environments useful for testing and development. Wp cli access through ssh, free ssl certificates, automated backups, easy to sync environments
The wait time for support has gotten longer than it used to be for live chat. The limited disk space and bandwidth has also been a problem for some of my clients
Makes it simple to recommend clients to use wpengine, as in the end it makes my job easier as opposed to other hosting companies that do not offer the same level of service
The fact that WP Engine automates backups, migrations, and plugin updating allows people to focus on their business value and less on maintenance and reliability.
The only downside to WP Engine is that the pricing might be too steep for hobby level users who don't have the volume to justify all of the features that WP Engine has to offer.
Backups, Migrations, easy account transfer, uptime, whitelabeling, invoicing. All of these things are features I didn't realize I needed until I had to try to manage them myself. Then when I figured out how to do these correctly, I was thrilled to see that WP Engine was doing it for me.
Being able to manage several environments quickly and easily is an incredibly useful help for developers. LargeFS (AWS S3 ready) infrastructure also a bonus and the Customer Service is truly outstanding. Happy to have refer to WPE all my WP clients!
Cache exclusion management could use a manual input, but Support is always happy to do it. Maybe a search/replace system and an S3 GUI navigator and deleted media sync (in case of LargeFS) would be the ultimate tools that WPE is missing. Error logs dont seem complete at times and audit routines do clutter custom error logs, but nothing problematic to be fair... it's really hard to come up with something I would definitely change.
Managing several environments for websites, cloning them over easily, easy backups and rollbacks, AWS S3 ready... not sure what else one would need to develop/debug WP sites quickly and professionally.
I've used WPEngine for 5 years now, and they've been one of the best and most reliable hosting companies out there. Their support is always helpful, and I rarely need to contact them more than once for an issue.
Honestly? There isn't a lot to dislike. The only thing would be they need a more in-depth usage dashboard, but they're making strides in that. I would also say having the ability to customize a new install stack would be amazing.
WPEngine solves my hosting needs for my own site as well as my clients. Their plans are generally expensive but usually well worth it, especially for high-end sites.
WPEngine's support is second to none. They are always willing to help and have solved many complex problems for me. The uptime is very good as well, we never worry about our sites not being up.
To some it's the cost but to me it's a premium product and you get what you pay for honestly. It's worth the cost to me. I do wish you could have a little more control on the backend.
WPEngine provides reliability and support for sites which can be complex. They make what can be very complex much easier.
WP Engine has flexible options that help agencies resell, scale, and receive top notch customer service. We also appreciate the tech which has provided optimal speeds for our sites as well.
This is a little weird, but as you start to fill up dedicated servers, finding a way to affordably accommodate one or two sites as you grow your base of hosting clients can be challenging.
They are solving the problem of needing a reliable host to accommodate multiple WordPress sites but they are also helping with their plugin update tool which helps keep the sites up to date.
I like being able to login to the WP admin through the portal, having a development and staging site, and being able to easy access high quality help with issues as they come up.
I wish hosting costs were cheaper, as always, but frankly we do get a good product for the price. I had some trouble a year or so ago with legacy staging, but it's been fixed.
I'm able to easily show my clients development versions of their sites before going live. It also has a seamless connection with domain registrars to set up a connection with your domain instantly.
WP Engine is always there to help us navigate complex hosting environments and monitor our sites. Can't recommend this platform enough for all of your WordPress hosting needs.
A rigid devops or webops process is not implemented with WP Engine and this can be tricky depending on how much control your individual developers have to push new code.
WP Engine support is always there, 24/7, and it's huge. They go above and beyond to help us understand the situation and always work with us until the issue is completely sorted.
Best features are ease of use and setup, and speed.
Not as robust as other hosting platforms.
Staying on top of the security of our sites.
WP Engine makes it so that I have a hosting partner for wordpress.
I wish there were a dedicated account manager like there is when you have a Shopify store.
WP Engine allows us to work with WP sites without needing to pay additional resources for hosting/monitoring/sys-admin, etc...
Reliability, backups, customer service is quick and smart!
Little bit on the pricey side but it is worth every penny.
It solved security loopholes with WP and page load issues clients would have.
From their top notch support to their rock steady servers, we've never had any issues - we continue to love and grow with the platform as a company thanks to their scalability, pricing, and future optimizations (such as Atlas).
For a single site, the pricing can seem high, but for an agency - it's a great value. On real room for improvement is tied to version control and GitHub integration, but this appears to be getting better in the future with their headless and Atlas builds.
Scalable and high performance websites for ourselves and our clients.
Their chat support is always available and ready to help whenever you need it. Many of their techs go above and beyond, helping to troubleshoot and identify issues. Overall, the hosting service is great — stable, secure and reliable.
Some recent changes to chat support require extra steps to get connected with a human, which is a little annoying. As a pro user, I've typically already done initial research & sleuthing, so by the time I open chat support, I'm ready for a person. Not a deal-breaker, but a noticeable difference from their previous chat structure.
I provide hosting solutions for my clients, both through my own Enterprise account and by referring my clients directly to WPE. As such, it's important that my recommendation be met with quality, reliable service. WPE helps to make site maintenance & management turn-key, so I can best serve my clients.
I've used many different web hosting companies in the past, and once I experienced WP Engine, I moved ALL my clients over to them. Their platform is secure (they disallow certain plug-ins), their hosting is fast (needed to keep Google happy), and their tech support is the best I've ever experienced. I know my way around WordPress pretty well, but when I get stumped (which is rare), their support is right on it.
They're pricier than everyone else, but you get what you pay for. I'm happy to pay the difference and refuse to use any other hosting company.
WP Engine has provided the solution to many issues I've had with other hosting companies in the past: web server speed, security and tech support that is available 24x7.
