In this Chatter, all users can set up groups, invite colleagues to join, and limit access to their groups. Members can be assigned various roles within a group. Group founders (owners) and managers can assign these roles, add or remove members, and change group settings. They are also able to delete posts and comments by others. Group members can only post and comment. Groups can be set up either as public or as private groups.
This is like a facebook, there is nothing to dislike in this software
This Ensure that your organisation is engaged and all are participating. Contribution scoring incentivises employees to join the conversation, while badging and endorsements highlights key contributors.
All the updates, knowledge articles that are to be given in general can be updated to all in one single place using chatter. Status and commenting is bets feature Share knowledge, files, and data, and connect with experts from across our organisation regardless of their role or location.
Wecan’t mention archived groups, unlisted groups, customer groups, and private groups if we are not a member of, If a person who isn’t a member of a private group is mentioned in a post or comment on that private group, the mention link displays as gray, unless this mentioned person has “Modify All Data” permission
All the new updates of knowledge articles are shared in our organization through Salesforce chatter.
Update status to source information – ask questions and get advice without sending a blast email. Share content that others might find valuable – post presentations, docs, articles. The nice thing about Chatter is it's searchable so you can easily go back and find stuff. Chatter could be enabled for the entire organization only. So, if you say that you want only a had full of users to use Chatter then that's not possible.
Mobile. I'm an Android phone user and there isn't an official Chatter App, which limits my use of Chatter on the go. I believe there is an App already for the iPhone, and the Android version should be coming out soon. -No Private Messages. Sure you can e-mail a coworker, but I think the option to just send a private message to an individual would make it easier, eliminating the need to switch applications.
Organizing and archiving information is easy with tags. Just like Twitter, Chatter supports using hashtags ('#' followed by a keyword) so that you can search, track, and monitor trends or topics that are relevant and important to you. Maintain & grow relationships – let people know what you’re working on and stay in tune with what they're up to by subscribing to people, opportunities, or accounts.
It lets us easily connect with our colleagues
It's not widely being used by people. But anyways that can not be shown as a fault of Chatter.
Through chatter, we can connect with employees instantly and also through the feeds, we can get to know about their activities and requirements and also it lets us follow up on those.
using chatter across communities has helped our IT professional team work with our various Business Units easily and frequently
not much to dislike except with Communities Partners you have to select the "all access" in order for the Partner to see the Chatter. Unfortunately, it will not email it. Wish there was more information on inter company community collaboration with Chatter
Projects and enhancement requests across Business Units are managed in one place but the BUs have their own instance/Org. Chatter allows us to work together in one place because the BU's can access the project management through the Community in their own instance of Salesforce.
Ability to view entire conversations around a topic
There is nothing that I currently dislike in useing Chatter
How to solve the world problems
Chatter has been terrific for my team to collaborate on salesforce opportunities.
The multiple emails I received per chatter post
The benefit of chatter is the ability to have specific chatter groups collaborate on the opportunity files they are working on without having to share it with the entire firm
Communicate on specific records and keep a history of all chatter posts.
When someone posts a a chatter and tags users, the users are not notified when there is a comment to the original chatter post.
Transparency on all records.
The ability to follow documents and sales team
I have not found anything to dislike about Salesforce Chatter as it meets my needs
Love Salesforce Chatter for improving collaboration among our sales and marketing teams
The ability to connect with my coworkers and collaborate in real time
The only thing i don't like is sometimes my coworkers don't respond right away..
Saves me time in emailing somebody
I love the personalization of Chatter and ability to streamline workflow as well as have groups for various company conversations. I like to describe this tool to people as Facebook for Business. I have found this tool really effective to communicate with team members across multiple locations
There isn't really anything I dislike about Chatter.

Easy of use - Chatter is very user friendly and intuitive
Users can find it confusing to adjust their chatter email notification settings so they don't get bombarded with emails daily.

I love that chatter just isn't about people collaborating and posting links. It allows collaboration across records, files, people and even report dashboards so the chatter posts have a data record context (more or less any record in salesforce). Where it works brilliantly is It allows you to break out of the traditional silos within a company. A great example I saw was someone was writing a PR article for a major newspaper they posted a message on chatter and someone from within the company from the other side of the world just happened to have some great case studies which they wouldn't have known about without chatter. The CEO also saw the collaboration across business units. Reduces your email hugely you can get chatter alerts when records in Salesforce. I even saw one company set it up so that their products would chatter them when they had issues so they knew before their customers that their products wern't working correctly. Directors/managers can see who the real knowledge experts are in the company as when people ask for help they always jump in an answer the questions.
It sometimes can be hard to get adoption within companies, this seems sometimes to go down age lines with the younger generation seeing its value almost immediately. Sometimes you can get a chatter storm of posts but you can manage this by way of daily/weekly digests.

Chatter helps all of our departments stay on task and up to date on accounts and clients info. It also helps us with internal announcments and team communication. With chatter you can communicate and store your chats with the relation to an account unlike with an email the connection would have ben lost.
If you don't monitor your feed it is easy to miss someone who is chatting with you.

Chatter is easy to use and accessible to any Salesforce.com user. It may require some effort to drive user adoption during the deployment, but once users catch on it is a great way to share information and updates within your company.
Authentication into different Chatter groups from different companies could be better. I'd like to see Chatter groups that I've joined in other SFDC organizations within my corporate Chatter group.

Chatter is simply the best possible way to have conversations with your coworkers. No annoyingly irrelevant email threads from people hitting "reply all;" only simple, easy-to-follow threaded conversations that are directly associated with the very thing you're talking about, whether it's a case, account, or opportunity.
I can't wait to see what new REPORTING features Salesforce is going to roll out for chatter -- right now not being able to run reports on Chatter posts can be a problem.

Chatter brings together people from different geographies and backgrounds. It creates a very collaborative environment and provides very timely feedback from people around the world. I use it every day and feel it makes me more informed as well as lets me contribute. I can join groups, bookmark threads, and like threads so I can get updates on conversations that I'm interested in.
I'd prefer better search capabilities. Sometimes it's difficult to find information that has been previously posted. Not a huge issue but still something I'm aware of.

Sometime it takes time to upload the file of more than 4 GB
All employee becomes on same page by using chatter also it does not hamper the personnel's life. It gives a platform to share professional communication within the Team.
Desktop and mobile Omni experience to share insights, propose ideas, improve visibility, communicate on cases and coordinate tasks to increase productivity and work quality.
While super great and effective within the Salesforce ecosystem, it has limited external connectors driving team members to gravitate to other chat platforms such as Slack. As such, adoption and use are minimized due to the need for multiple platforms.
Improve communications on Salesforce Opportunities, Leads, and cases to improve collaboration, visibility of updates and engage team members for support and assistance in meeting the customer needs.
Useful for file sharing and real time updates
Nothing really. It does what it is supposed to do.
Employees collaborate better
Easy to use! We use it all the time to communicate across teams - sales, renewals, deal desk etc.
I dont have any dislikes. It is easy to use.
Communication across teams and tying to records
Almost all the features are really helpful for the end user.Major features that attracts me most is to update or comments, share files and creating draft post which can be shared later.
Can be better if we improve by updating latest features, this should more efficiently design to competite with other saas product in the market. UI part can be more user friendly.
Chatter really helpful to solve major problems like connect with team in more easy and effective way due to this end result more task done and improve the business and revenue.
Very easy to use and integrated on the Sales CRM with all relevant contact and context available as required for the account in question.
I cannot use this outside of the CRM environment, so that limits the usage of this, unlike Teams or slack for example and the fact that this is outside the users of the CRM for example I can message a parallel team that don't use the Sales CRM but the customer success part of the same
Easy access to the accounts in question that I need to discuss with my team and sharing links within regarding opportunities or email conversations etc., instead of sending emails
Ability to link the conversation you're having with someone to the Salesforce place. Collaborate privately on sensitive projects. Tracking the life cycle of a customer service request or prospect. Customer communications within Chatter. Post status updates and questions. Promotes team communication.
The feature on how you are notified when someone has mentioned you in a chat could use some improvement. I've had trouble logging in multiple times.
It makes it very easy to communicate with my team, which gets the job done much faster because everyone is on the same page and everything is more organized. Their mobile app gives me a real-time update on the current job status of my team members and allows me to track their work. It provides amazing features with which I can easily boost my business campaigns and can engage my team effectively.
That is remains where you left it - on specific parts of the account
that is does not add it on the account level unless you put it there
easy communication among teams
The ability to interact with different users in Salesforce around leads, opportunities or contacts and share any comments
Currently we don't have an option to message users from another Org to collaborate on multiple opportunities with the same customer
Helps in communicating with other users or partners within an org for. The good part is we could also automate chatter message in flows to send any reminders around leads or opportunities
You may essentially ask anything and receive an immediate response. People from all professions and backgrounds may contribute their thoughts and advice, which will make your life simpler. With Salesforce Chatter groups, you may be guided in the correct direction, find answers to your difficulties, and resolve your questions and concerns.
I was not required to click the Chatter link to view chatter in the activity log.
We primarily use it to discuss records, basic user information, and other topics. Collaboration does not require any additional tools. We may also exchange huge files and tag multiple groups of individuals to share the same message and files using Chatter.
I like ability to collaborate with my colleagues and customers in a community
You need to be part of salesforce community with a license...
Allowing our customers to communicate with each other and share insights and collaborate on business problems and solutions
Chatter provides the flexibility of chatting in between sales data by staying in the salesforce environment and you can chat regarding any opportunity by getting connected to that opportunity with chat.
its a bit expensive and the definition of an expensive solution differs from organization to organization.
Instant messaging regarding deals and around the deals, day to day communication with sales reps
