Greenhouse Expert Review

Greenhouse publishes no prices at all — but it does put SSO on its entry tier, which most software does not. There is not a single dollar figure anywhere on its pricing page; all three plans lead to “Get a demo”. What the page does tell you is where the feature boundaries fall, and one of them is genuinely unusual: single sign-on is included on Core, the cheapest plan, rather than held back for an enterprise negotiation.

  • What it is: A structured hiring platform — an applicant tracking system built around interview kits, scorecards, and consistent process.
  • Best for: Companies that want hiring to be repeatable and measurable rather than ad hoc.
  • Pricing: Not published. Three tiers — Core, Plus, Pro — all quoted after a demo. Verified July 2026.
  • The honest catch: You cannot shortlist Greenhouse on price, because there is no price to shortlist on.

What Is Greenhouse?

Greenhouse’s organising idea is structured hiring: every role gets defined criteria, every interviewer gets a kit and a scorecard, and decisions come from comparable evidence rather than impressions. That discipline is the product — it is why Greenhouse is associated with fairer, more defensible hiring, and why companies adopt it when informal processes stop scaling.

Greenhouse’s pricing page showing three tiers — Core, Plus and Pro — each with a Get a demo button and no price displayed.

The 2026 platform leans on Real Talent™, Greenhouse’s AI layer, which appears on all three tiers at increasing depth: talent matching on Core, fraud and spam detection on Plus, and enterprise-level features on Pro. That middle one is a sign of the times — AI-generated applications and fabricated candidates have become a real problem for recruiters, and Greenhouse now treats detecting them as a named plan feature.

How Greenhouse Works

  • Three tiers — Core, Plus, Pro — with no published prices.
  • Every plan requires a demo. There is no self-serve purchase.
  • SSO is included on Core, the entry tier.
  • Real Talent AI runs across all three, with capability increasing by tier.
  • Plus adds a BI Connector, sourcing automation, texting, and AI report filters.
  • Pro adds governance — audit log, developer sandbox, enterprise data configuration.

Greenhouse Pricing

There is no rate card to reproduce. What follows is what Greenhouse’s pricing page actually states, verified July 2026.

Tier Positioned for Includes
Core Bringing structure to hiring Sourcing & CRM, interview kits & scorecards, scheduling, reporting & analytics, SSO, Real Talent talent matching
Plus Optimising the operation Adds AI report filters, BI Connector, sourcing automation, texting, Real Talent fraud & spam detection
Pro Managing hiring complexity Adds unlimited CRM events, enterprise data configuration and security, audit log, developer sandbox & sync

Bar chart showing how many tiers above the entry plan SSO sits: zero for Greenhouse, two for Keeper, two for n8n, and four for Softr.

What actually decides your tier:

  • SSO on the entry plan is worth noticing. Single sign-on is the classic enterprise upcharge — in our own reviews this month, Keeper puts it on Enterprise, n8n on a €667 tier, and Softr four tiers above its entry plan. Greenhouse includes it on Core. For a company with any security policy at all, that removes a common reason to be pushed upward.
  • Plus is about scale of operation, not size of company. Adding teams, locations, or brands is the stated trigger, along with the BI Connector for reporting into your own warehouse and sourcing automation. If you hire in one place with one process, Core is likely to hold.
  • Pro is about governance. Audit logs, enterprise-level data configuration, developer sandbox and sync. Those are procurement and compliance requirements rather than recruiter features, so the people asking for Pro are usually IT and legal rather than talent.
  • Fraud and spam detection sits on Plus. Given how many applications are now AI-generated, that placement is worth weighing — if your roles attract high application volume, the feature that filters fabricated candidates is one tier up.
  • Everything is demo-gated, so budget evaluation time. No plan can be bought or even priced without a conversation. Expect a longer procurement cycle than for published-price tools, and ask for all three tiers’ pricing in the first call so you can compare internally.
  • Ask what Real Talent costs. It appears on every tier at different depths, which usually indicates either bundled tiering or an add-on structure. Establish which.

Who Should Use Greenhouse

  • Companies formalising hiring. The clearest case — interview kits and scorecards are the product, and they work.
  • Organisations that need defensible decisions. Structured, comparable evidence matters for both fairness and compliance.
  • Businesses with an existing security policy. SSO on the entry tier means you are not forced up a tier to satisfy IT.
  • High-volume recruiters. Real Talent’s fraud and spam detection addresses a problem that has grown sharply.

It fits poorly for very small teams making occasional hires, where a lightweight ATS costs a fraction; for buyers who need published pricing to build a shortlist; and for companies wanting to trial before talking to sales.

Honest Pros and Cons

Strengths

  • Structured hiring done properly — kits, scorecards, and comparable evidence.
  • SSO on the entry tier, where most vendors reserve it for enterprise.
  • AI fraud and spam detection for a genuinely current problem.
  • A BI Connector at Plus, so hiring data reaches your warehouse.
  • Strong governance at Pro — audit logs and enterprise data configuration.
  • Clear tier logic, each step addressing an identifiable operational need.

Limitations

  • No published pricing whatsoever — not a range, not a starting figure.
  • Every tier requires a demo, including the entry plan.
  • Fraud and spam detection needs Plus, not Core.
  • Unlimited CRM events require Pro, implying limits below it.
  • Heavier than small teams need, both in process and in cost.
  • Real Talent’s commercial model is unstated across tiers.

Greenhouse Alternatives and How It Compares

  • Workable publishes its pricing and suits smaller teams, with less emphasis on structured interviewing.
  • Lever competes directly on mid-market and enterprise hiring, combining ATS and CRM.
  • Ashby is the newer analytics-led alternative popular with fast-scaling technology companies.
  • SmartRecruiters targets enterprise hiring at similar scale.
  • Recruitee is the lighter, collaborative option for growing teams.
  • BambooHR covers HR broadly with recruiting attached, rather than a specialist ATS.

For a broader survey, browse our applicant tracking systems directory.

The Verdict

Greenhouse is a genuinely good product with a genuinely opaque price. What it does well is force structure onto hiring: defined criteria per role, interview kits so every interviewer asks comparable questions, scorecards so decisions rest on evidence rather than the loudest opinion in the debrief. Companies that adopt it usually do so because informal hiring has started producing inconsistent results, and it fixes that. The 2026 additions are sensible too — fraud and spam detection responds to a real change in how applications arrive.

The commercial experience is the frustrating part. There is not a single price on the pricing page, and all three tiers route through a demo. That is common at this end of the market, but it means Greenhouse cannot be shortlisted the way a published-price tool can, and you will spend evaluation time before you know whether it is affordable. Ask for pricing on all three tiers in the first conversation rather than only the one they steer you toward, so you can compare internally.

One thing genuinely deserves credit, and it is easy to overlook on a page with no numbers. SSO is included on Core. Across the products reviewed here this month, single sign-on typically sits at the very top: Keeper reserves it for Enterprise, n8n for a €667-a-month tier, Softr four tiers above its entry plan. Greenhouse puts it on the cheapest thing it sells, which means a company with a normal security policy is not forced upward for a reason unrelated to hiring. That is a meaningful decision, and it suggests the tier boundaries here are drawn around operational need rather than around what buyers can be pressured into.

FAQ

How much does Greenhouse cost?

Greenhouse does not publish pricing. Its pricing page shows three tiers — Core, Plus, and Pro — and every one routes to a demo request with no figures attached, no starting price, and no range. Cost is quoted after a conversation, typically based on company size and hiring volume. Ask for all three tiers when you speak to them so you can compare internally.

What is the difference between Greenhouse Core, Plus, and Pro?

Core covers structured hiring: sourcing and CRM, interview kits and scorecards, scheduling, reporting and analytics, SSO, and Real Talent talent matching. Plus adds AI-powered report filters, a Business Intelligence Connector, sourcing automation, texting, and Real Talent fraud and spam detection. Pro adds unlimited CRM events, enterprise data configuration and security, an audit log, and a developer sandbox with sync.

Does Greenhouse include SSO?

Yes, on Core — its entry tier. That is unusual: single sign-on is typically an enterprise-tier feature, and among products we reviewed this month Keeper places it on Enterprise, n8n on its €667 Business plan, and Softr four tiers above its entry plan. Greenhouse including it on the cheapest plan means security requirements alone will not push you up a tier.

What is Greenhouse Real Talent?

Real Talent™ is Greenhouse’s AI layer, and it appears on all three tiers at different depths — talent matching on Core, fraud and spam detection on Plus, and enterprise-level features on Pro. The fraud detection is the notable one: AI-generated applications and fabricated candidates have become a significant problem for recruiters, and Greenhouse treats identifying them as a named plan feature rather than a background process.

Is Greenhouse worth it for a small company?

It depends more on hiring volume and process maturity than on headcount. Greenhouse’s value is structure — kits, scorecards, comparable evidence — which pays off when you hire regularly enough for consistency to matter. A company making a handful of hires a year will find lighter tools like Recruitee or Workable cheaper and quicker to run, and both publish their pricing, which makes them far easier to evaluate.

"Greenhouse is future-thinking"
What do you like best about Greenhouse?

Greenhouse is an inclusive, user-friendly platform with good automation and notification features. I appreciate the way they look to the future and continually innovate to accommodate changes in the marketplace and are always looking for ways to improve DEI.

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?

The reporting features are somewhat limited, specifically the filtering capability. If I could save a report that I use regularly, it would save me time on the back-end of replugging in the same filters in excel each time.

What problems is Greenhouse solving and how is that benefiting you?

Greenhouse's biggest value-add to our firm is keeping things organized as our ATS fully equipped with candidate tracking and EEOC compliance. A problem we have had is not knowing how to pronounce candidate names correctly. Greenhouse's commitment to diversity and inclusion options like candidates recording their name have been incredibly beneficial to us.

"Looking for a system to help structure recruiting and help you scale?"
What do you like best about Greenhouse?

Greenhouse is a highly configurable recruiting system that is incredibly intuitive for TA leaders, recruiters, hiring managers, candidates, and administrators. It's an awesome platform to help a startup implement a structured approach to recruiting and hiring. It's also robust enough for a mid to large-size enterprise, particularly if they want to prioritize recruiting as a strategic function. A key differentiator for Greenhouse is it's structured interviewing and hiring toolkits. This makes structured hiring easy to implement and ensures organic adoption without investing too many resources in training. The configuration options for applications, candidate forms, approval flows, and offers are excellent. Greenhouse has also built API integration options with most of the key technology players in the recruiting space. The pre-built API integrations allow TA leaders and administrators to wire up slick integrations. As a result, TA teams can build out a truly integrated tech stack without requiring HRIS/IT resources. I've implemented Greenhouse at two companies and it's been essential to scaling those organizations successfully (one from seed round w/ 50 employees in one location to 1K employees across 10 states approaching unicorn status; another was a public biotech org and we doubled headcount in roughly a year, built an outstanding team, and eventually got acquired for >$4B.

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?

There aren't any major flaws in the system, particularly if you're a startup to mid-size company. I do think Greenhouse could make it's approval workflow capabilities more customizable to meet the needs of customers w/ complex org structures. Greenhouse could also improve their out-of-the-box career site aesthetics which would be helpful to organizations that don't have a big development team to customize an API-driven careers page experience.

What problems is Greenhouse solving and how is that benefiting you?

Greenhouse helps organize hiring teams and structure how teams evaluate applicants, advance candidates in the process, assess top candidates through interview kits, and close offers quickly.

"Very Intuitive Product!"
What do you like best about Greenhouse?

I personally love the stage transitions. It makes it so easy to have prelim phone screens and interviews scheduled without the manual aspect of emailing candidates and hiring managers.

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?

I don't like that there is no digital signature capability in greenhouse and you have to pay for a third party service. In addition there are a couple of items like not being able to CC people on stage transition emails that I'm surprised aren't a capability when the system has so many other features.

What problems is Greenhouse solving and how is that benefiting you?

Greenhouse is removing a lot of our manual process and allowing us to be fully automated! It's decreasing our time to hire and I was also VERY impressed with the amount of candidates we received after the first couple of days with Greenhouse.

"I'm very satisfied with Greenhouse. It is a really good system for recruiting."
What do you like best about Greenhouse?

Most of the things. Analytics, applicant review section, scorecard customization, email integration, Linkedin recruiter integration, CV parcing, offer approval part.

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?

Zoom integration is not perfect. If an interview is rescheduled, it stays in the Host's Zoom app sometimes and looks confusing. Also would be great to be able to make scorecard attributes required to fill

What problems is Greenhouse solving and how is that benefiting you?

Basically, Greenhouse acts as a system we use for recruiting and from my perspective, it's complex enough to cover all our recruiting needs. So the main part is "how to manage recruiting effectively"

"Greenhouse Has Been Impactful"
What do you like best about Greenhouse?

Greenhouse has automated many administrative things about recruiting to help our process be more streamlined. From creating strategies to help find and move forward candidates who meet certain tags, we need immediately to move forward to help us genuinely customize every step of the process, including scorecards and our strategy, to ensure we're not being biased.

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?

The only disadvantage is there are a couple of integrations that haven't worked with the systems we used before that made us switch or have to switch accounts, but that's not an issue for us - however, it could be a learning curve for others. The team helped walk through this, and it isn't enough of a "dislike" to not recommend the product.

What problems is Greenhouse solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use Greenhouse from recruitment to onboarding new hires. This benefits us greatly for a fantastic candidate to unique hire experience not only for our applicants but for those who are a part of the in-house interview process on our team.

"Streamlining our recruiting, one department report at a time!"
What do you like best about Greenhouse?

Greenhouse is really easy to navigate, from initial setup to reporting and offer management. The reporting and visualizations provided help paint a picture of current recruiting practices and overall goals of where we'd like to be in our processes.

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?

The downside of Greenhouse is the lack of candidate communication being seamlessly integrated with email. Although the export email function exists, it is often an additional forgotten step when other systems have this automated.

What problems is Greenhouse solving and how is that benefiting you?

Greenhouse has assisted in creating streamlined recruiting practices with departments that didn't have one before. We were able to pull recruiting reports to present to executive leaders which changed our interview process to be more consistent and therefore allowed our time-to-hire to decrease as a result of the conversations.

"Greenhouse is the best ATS I have used"
What do you like best about Greenhouse?

Love the pipeline feature. Love the note taking feature. The Email template feature is so easy to set up. Prospect pools. I can even search for candidates using Boolean search strings.

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?

The scheduling feature. I dont know why it wouldnt automatically include the candidate in the interview invite. Also, if I open it up in G-Calendar, it adds me to the invite so that I would have to submit a scorecard even when I am not a part of the interview. I think a few simple changes would make the scheduling feature so much better. I also wish that I could customize the milestones more.

"The most user friendly ATS out there!"
What do you like best about Greenhouse?

Greenhouses interface is the most user-friendly and easiest to navigate. I've used several ATSs and find this one is the best. It's clean, clear and simple. Configurations are easy, and it has the most extended list of integrations possible,

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?

I wish the Candidate survey could be customized - it only has a pre-set list of questions and nothing can be made differently, which is very unfortunate. Also I would like the "Scorecard" section in a job set up to be called "Attributes" Because the scorecard is something completely different in my opinion. Finally, I wish we could report on sourcer ownership. Instead you can only see candidates by the recruiter, Hiring manager or RC. I also want more visual dashboard.

What problems is Greenhouse solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's the best to implement in my opinion, it's really solving for easy setup and quick delivery. The candidate management is also the best on the market so far.

"Best ATS I've ever used, and I've been breaking them in since 1997 :)"
What do you like best about Greenhouse?

The Greenhouse interface is simple, although there's nothing shallow about this customizable ATS (and when I say customizable, I mean just about everything related to the recruiting process is customizable - a huge plus. Greenhouse is also all-inclusive for recruiting and onboarding, and it has a unique dashboard that is the best in the business. High on my list of pros is that it allows large orgs to involve all relevant stakeholders in the hiring process (i.e., it easily facilitates structured hiring), and provides all the tools necessary to make better hiring decisions. Additionally, Greenhouse offers a first-class candidate experience, which is at the top of the priority list for every company. Greenhouse offers multiple candidate experience tools that help create a strong impression on our applicants, including a custom-branded job board/careers page on our company website that shares the details for all open positions and gives our candidates an insiders-perspective of our culture. Finally, and high on our list of must-haves, is that Greenhouse simplifies inclusive hiring. One of our biggest challenges today is maintaining workforce diversity in our hiring practices. Greenhouse provides the tools to facilitate inclusive hiring that ensures our workforce has the best talent regardless of race, ethnicity, and religion. It also shares recruitment tips with our hiring managers to reduce any potential for bias. Greenhouse even offers a transparent candidate evaluation process to ensure the best candidates make it to the top by requiring hiring managers to break down their feedback and the noted reasons for candidate acceptance or rejection. Not to mention the huge number of 3rd party integrations (over 360!) that are available and which play a massive role in helping us expand the benefits of our ATS.

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?

Would like the ability to add candidate notes (this would be a huge plus for more effective candidate-management). Also, "live" training would be a giant plus in helping new recruiters with their ramp-up time. While the standard reporting capabilities are average, it lacks the more accomplished executive-level features that I've used with other full-service HR software vendors.

What problems is Greenhouse solving and how is that benefiting you?

Greenhouse is helping us solve our issues related to candidate experience, and, the ability to easily include all relevant stakeholders in the entire process (beginning to end), has improved our assessment capabilities tremendously.

"OBSESSED with Greenhouse!"
What do you like best about Greenhouse?

I love Greenhouse so much for all of its painpoints that it helps me work everything between candidate experience, reporting and data, and even for the job description/application as well for passive recruiting.

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?

There's not much that I don't like, I really love the platform alot because it really is so seemsless to use, one big aspect though is the intrgration, sometimes Greenhouse doesn't have the appropriete intergration with other tools but that isn't a big issue for me.

What problems is Greenhouse solving and how is that benefiting you?

Candidate experience, hiring manager tagging, hiring managers can also take a look at the resumes with the recruiters and it makes collaboration very easy. I am able to tag my recruiting coordinators as well to help schedule for the recruiters/hiring managers as well.

"Great tool, with amazing features and structured events for users to learn."
What do you like best about Greenhouse?

Having all the data in one just place. The updated real-time information. The integrations with other companies and tools.

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?

The reports. They are not easy to customize and the look is not ideal. There is no possibility to create graphics or design dashboards.

What problems is Greenhouse solving and how is that benefiting you?

Automating processes in recruiting, data registration and reporting, sourcing tasks. It helps me to have all my processes and information in just ONE source.

What do you like best about Greenhouse?

We've been able to integrate Greenhouse with background checks and out HRIS. We do a big volume of interviews with many rounds, so we find it valuable to have Greenhouse.

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?

If Greenhouse could be slightly more intuitive, that would be great. No huge dislikes here.

What problems is Greenhouse solving and how is that benefiting you?

Organizing many job positions, collaborating and viewing scorecards.

"Greenhouse Review"
What do you like best about Greenhouse?

I like that everything lives under one section and that you can navigate the hiring experience without going through multiple screens. You can also keep a record of past activity in case you have someone that has already gone through the interviewing process.

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?

If someone is not tech savvy, I have seen they have some difficulty navigating through the platform. Greenhouse provides many training tools and has a team available for additional support if needed.

What problems is Greenhouse solving and how is that benefiting you?

Creating an inclusive hiring experience. We have been able to develop interview plans and utilize the scorecards to ensure we are removing biases from the interview process.

"Love Greenhouses!"
What do you like best about Greenhouse?

I love using Greenhouse to track all of my candidates and have up to date data on my performance. I also love how Greenhouse integrates with other features such as Grayscale, RingCentral, and Calendly. By utilizing these integrations together, my team has become superstars.

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?

As much as I love that we can customize our data, sometimes finding specific data points can be difficults.

What problems is Greenhouse solving and how is that benefiting you?

Greenhouse lets me merge candidates easily, see a candidate's contact info in one easy spot, and allows the recruiting team to send notes back and forth. Greenhouse also lets us utilize the tag feature to communicate when we have contacted candidates. This helps our hiring managers know where we are at in the process of communication with candidates.

"Best ATS"
What do you like best about Greenhouse?

Greenhouse is the best ATS. The UX is intuitive and user-friendly, which maximizes hiring efficiency. The platform integrates with myriad sourcing and recruiting platforms allowing for a seamless recruiting tech stack.

What do you dislike about Greenhouse?

It can be difficult to teach and train new users on Greenhouse. While the library of videos is helpful - sometimes live training can better support knowledge acquisition.

What problems is Greenhouse solving and how is that benefiting you?

Greenhouse solves the problem of sourcing and recruiting on separate platforms.
