HubSpot Marketing Hub Expert Review

Three seats on HubSpot Marketing Hub Starter cost €21 a month. Three seats on Professional cost €792. That is 37.7 times the price for the same number of people — and the marketing contact allowance goes from 1,000 to 2,000. You are not buying capacity at that step; you are buying features, and it is the steepest jump on any pricing page reviewed here this month.

  • What it is: HubSpot’s marketing automation product — campaigns, automation, lead scoring, and reporting on its CRM.
  • Best for: Companies committed to HubSpot’s platform who need Professional’s automation depth.
  • Pricing: Free; Starter €7/seat; Professional from €792/mo (3 seats); Enterprise from €3,300/mo (5 seats). Verified July 2026.
  • The honest catch: Extra seats cost €7 on Starter and €45 on Professional — 6.4 times more.

What Is HubSpot Marketing Hub?

Marketing Hub is the marketing half of HubSpot’s platform, sitting on the same Smart CRM as its Sales, Service, Content, Data, and Revenue products. That shared foundation is the reason people choose it: contacts, deals, tickets, and campaigns live in one database, so attribution works without stitching systems together.

HubSpot’s Marketing Hub pricing showing Free at €0, Starter at €7 per seat, Professional from €792 a month including three Core Seats, and Enterprise from €3,300 including five.

The 2026 addition is HubSpot AEO, currently in beta — answer engine optimisation that shows how your business appears in ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity, tracking 25 prompts across three answer engines daily. It is sold standalone with a 28-day trial and no additional subscription required, and it is also included in Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise.

Two meters run alongside seats: HubSpot Credits (500 on Starter, 3,000 on Professional) and marketing contacts (1,000 then 2,000).

How HubSpot Marketing Hub Works

  • Starter is priced per seat; Professional and Enterprise are flat rates with seats included.
  • Additional Core Seats cost €45/mo on Professional against €7 on Starter.
  • Marketing contacts are a separate meter — 1,000 on Starter, 2,000 on Professional.
  • HubSpot Credits ladder from 500 to 3,000.
  • AEO is included in Professional and Enterprise, or bought standalone.
  • Free covers up to 2 users with no credit card.

HubSpot Marketing Hub Pricing

Captured from HubSpot’s Marketing Hub pricing page in July 2026 on the euro price list.

Plan From Seats Extra seat Contacts Credits
Free €0 2 users — — —
Starter €7/seat (was €20) Per seat €7 1,000 500
Professional €792/mo (was €880) 3 included €45 2,000 3,000
Enterprise €3,300/mo 5 included — — —

Bar chart of HubSpot Marketing Hub monthly costs: €21 for three seats on Starter, €792 for three on Professional, €35 for five on Starter, €882 for five on Professional, and €3,300 for five on Enterprise.

What actually decides your plan:

  • The Starter-to-Professional step is the whole decision. At equal seat counts it is 37.7× — €21 against €792 for three people. Nothing else on the page matters as much, and there is no intermediate tier.
  • The contact allowance barely moves across that step. 1,000 marketing contacts on Starter, 2,000 on Professional. If you are upgrading because you have outgrown your list, you are paying an enormous premium for a doubling. The upgrade only makes sense if you need Professional’s features — omni-channel campaigns, lead scoring, social media, and automation depth.
  • Seats reprice sharply. €7 each on Starter, €45 each on Professional. A six-person marketing team on Professional is €792 plus three extra seats at €45, or €927 a month.
  • The discounts are uneven. Starter is struck through from €20 to €7 — 65% off — while Professional moves €880 to €792, just 10%. The deep discount is on the plan whose absolute price barely matters.
  • Free genuinely covers two users. Free marketing, sales, service, content, data, and revenue tools with no card required. For a two-person business it is a working CRM and email tool at no cost.
  • AEO is worth knowing about separately. Tracking 25 prompts daily across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity is included in Professional and Enterprise, but also sold on its own. If AI search visibility is the only thing you want from HubSpot, you do not need a €792 plan to get it.

Who Should Use HubSpot Marketing Hub

  • Companies already on HubSpot CRM. The clearest case — shared data across marketing, sales, and service is the platform’s real advantage.
  • Teams needing genuine omni-channel automation. Professional’s campaign and lead scoring tooling is strong, if you can justify the price.
  • Two-person businesses. The free tier is a complete starting stack at no cost.
  • Marketers tracking AI search visibility. AEO’s daily prompt tracking across three engines is a current, useful capability.

It fits poorly for teams needing mid-range automation, since nothing sits between €7 and €792; for large contact lists, where the allowances are modest for the money; and for anyone wanting automation depth cheaply, where ActiveCampaign delivers far more per euro.

Honest Pros and Cons

Strengths

  • A genuinely free tier for two users across six product areas.
  • One shared CRM underneath marketing, sales, service, and content.
  • Starter at €7 a seat is inexpensive for branded email, forms, and simple automation.
  • AEO tracking across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity, included at Professional or sold standalone.
  • A 28-day AEO trial with no subscription required.
  • Deep, mature platform with an enormous integration ecosystem.

Limitations

  • A 37.7× step from Starter to Professional at equal seat counts.
  • Extra seats cost 6.4× more on Professional than on Starter.
  • Contacts only double across that step — 1,000 to 2,000.
  • No intermediate tier between €7 a seat and €792 a month.
  • Professional and Enterprise require a sales conversation.
  • AEO is still in beta.

HubSpot Marketing Hub Alternatives and How It Compares

  • ActiveCampaign offers far stronger automation per euro, though its own entry plan caps automations at five actions.
  • Mailchimp is easier to start with, with its own gate — four flow steps on the entry paid plan.
  • Brevo prices by emails sent rather than contacts stored, better for large infrequently-mailed lists.
  • Klaviyo is the ecommerce specialist, deeper on store data.
  • HubSpot CRM is the free foundation, and where most Marketing Hub customers start.
  • For AI search visibility specifically, SE Ranking tracks 100 prompts daily from €87.20 a month — four times HubSpot AEO’s allowance at a fraction of Professional’s cost.

For a broader survey, browse our marketing automation directory.

The Verdict

HubSpot’s advantage has never really been any individual tool. It is that marketing, sales, service, and content sit on one CRM, so a lead’s whole history is in one place and attribution works without integration projects. For a company that has committed to the platform, Marketing Hub is the natural marketing layer, and Professional’s campaign, automation, and lead scoring tooling is genuinely capable.

The pricing has a chasm in the middle of it. Three seats cost €21 a month on Starter and €792 on Professional — 37.7 times, with nothing in between. What makes that hard to swallow is what the step buys in capacity: marketing contacts go from 1,000 to 2,000. If you are upgrading because your list has grown, you are paying a 37-fold increase for a doubling, and you should look hard at whether a dedicated email platform would serve you better. The upgrade is only rational if you specifically need Professional’s features.

Two practical notes. Seats reprice from €7 to €45 across that boundary, so a six-person team on Professional is €927 a month, not €792 — model your actual headcount. And if what you want from HubSpot is AEO, its answer-engine visibility tracking across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity, note that it is sold standalone with a 28-day trial and “no additional subscription required”. You do not need a €792 plan to get it — and if AI search visibility is your main goal, SE Ranking tracks 100 prompts daily from €87.20 against HubSpot AEO’s 25.

FAQ

How much does HubSpot Marketing Hub cost?

On the euro price list captured July 2026: Free for up to 2 users, Starter from €7 per seat per month (reduced from €20), Professional from €792 per month including 3 Core Seats, and Enterprise from €3,300 per month including 5 Core Seats. Additional Core Seats on Professional start at €45 per month. Professional and Enterprise both require a sales conversation.

Why is HubSpot Professional so much more expensive than Starter?

Because the tiers are separated by feature depth rather than by scale. At equal seat counts the step is 37.7 times — €21 for three seats on Starter against €792 on Professional — while the marketing contact allowance only doubles from 1,000 to 2,000. Professional adds omni-channel campaigns, lead scoring, social media, Agent Hub, AEO, and deeper automation and reporting. If you need those, it is justifiable; if you need more contacts, it is not.

How much are extra HubSpot seats?

€7 per month on Starter and €45 per month on Professional — 6.4 times more. Professional includes three Core Seats and Enterprise five, so a six-person marketing team on Professional pays €792 plus three additional seats at €45, totalling €927 per month. Seat costs are worth modelling before choosing a tier, since they scale very differently either side of the boundary.

What is HubSpot AEO?

HubSpot’s answer engine optimisation tool, currently in beta. It shows how your business appears in ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity, where competitors are winning, and what to do about it, tracking 25 prompts across three answer engines daily with additional prompts purchasable. It is included in Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise, and also sold standalone with a 28-day trial and no additional subscription required.

Is HubSpot’s free plan any good?

For two users, genuinely yes. It includes free marketing, sales, service, content, data, and revenue tools with no credit card required — a working CRM, email marketing, forms, and live chat. The constraints are the two-user limit and HubSpot branding on emails and chat, which Starter removes at €7 per seat. For a very small business it is a complete starting stack at no cost.

"Deceptive sales tactics and numerous subpar tools"
What do you like best about HubSpot Marketing Hub?

Nothing great as of yet. Even reporting is subpar and costs extra

What do you dislike about HubSpot Marketing Hub?

Landing page, sales tools, chat function all worse than what you can find anywhere

What problems is HubSpot Marketing Hub solving and how is that benefiting you?

We were convinced to switch over to hubspot after 4 years with a smaller CRM combined with mail chimp plus a whole lot of other software. Hubspot had the promise of putting it all together but falls on its face. Nearly every tool in hubspot is worse than what else if available (case in point, their landing page software). Worse, sales and customer support seem so separate that things we were promised never came to. Fruition or were charged extra on an already very expensive platform. Cannot recommend

I like the email builder the best, although it has some very frustrating elements to editing that need to be addressed.

"Not a Helpful Tool for Marketers"
What do you like best about HubSpot Marketing Hub?

Sending to large lists is helpful, as are sending emails by segmentation.

What do you dislike about HubSpot Marketing Hub?

Other tools are way easier to use and are significantly more robust - Moz, SEMRush. We're paying an enormous sum for lousy software. Support team is unhelpful. I call quite frequently to ask about workarounds because of limitations within the software, and the individual who picks up the phone never understands the question or knows where to point me. I'm left frustrated constantly. Additionally, of interactions that I've had with HubSpot employees, I've been shocked by the arrogance and rudeness time after time.

What problems is HubSpot Marketing Hub solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use HubSpot to send triggered emails based on behavioral events.

"I used Hubspot to see when people read my emails and it started off great but ended terribly"
What do you like best about HubSpot Marketing Hub?

It was awesome being able to see when and where my emails were read. Being in sales, it's hard to know if people are just ignoring my email or if my email is going straight to junk and I am unaware. It was nice having the reassurance that my email delivered and someone actually read it.

What do you dislike about HubSpot Marketing Hub?

It really messed up my emails and my sales tactics. I use apple mail, and we later found out that Apple mail did not support this extension. Hubspot would add a HUGE link to the end of all my emails and I had no idea this was happening until someone responded and told me. This then caused confusion and made me look very unprofessional.

What problems is HubSpot Marketing Hub solving and how is that benefiting you?

It really helped knowing if my emails were going to junk or to their inbox. It gave me a better idea of what time of day sales emails were read as well.

"Great software Not So Great Business Partners"
What do you like best about HubSpot Marketing Hub?

I love what Hubspot has built. We've been using Hubspot for a year and it has worked well in some ways and not so well in others, but overall the experience learning and using their system and philosophy has been a positive one.

What do you dislike about HubSpot Marketing Hub?

I dislike the company's aggressive contractual business model. We recently received an email from our account manager at Hubspot reminding us that the annual auto-renewal was coming up in the next month and the subscription cost was increasing by about $1500... After I picked my jaw up off the floor I was reminded that this increase really was just the regular subscription price and we had been given a discount during our first year of use...OK. So we replied stating that we would not be able to continue at that price point and would have to cancel. The reply was disappointing, though accurate. We were told that to cancel the annual agreement with Hubspot a written notice was required at least 45-days prior to the renewal date. Wouldn't you know it! The email reminder we received from our account manager came 3 days after the 45 day window closed. What are the odds? Ahhh shucks, you're on the hook for another year and an additional $18,000!!! Sorry! To be fair, this is our fault. We screwed up. We should have been on top of the details in the Hubspot contract. We should have had that 45 day window circled on the calendar with numerous reminders leading up to the point of no return. But running a business keeps us busy and unfortunately our minds weren't focused on the renewal aspects of our Hubspot contract and they knew it. Of course we explained the reason for our need to cancel with our account mgr, who promptly explained we couldn't cancel now, unless we wanted to buy out the contract and out of the kindness of the Hubspot collective heart they would knock 10% off the buyout price. Just handover $36,000 and you can go free... After several times back and forth we settled on a 3 month buy-out. Which is actually a 3 month renewal. So in effect we agreed to continue using Hubspot for 3 more months at our regular rate. I have nothing but good things to say about our account manager who truly went to bat for us to try and get us a deal we could live with and continue using the tools, but in the end our budget just wouldn't allow it. Would I recommend Hubspot? Only if you have fairly deep pockets, good cash flow, and lots of alarms and reminder programs to help you avoid missing the cancellation window if and when the time comes for you to do so. That's my only beef. I think Hubspot unnecessarily creates adversarial ex-customers when using a contract to squeeze more cash out of a dissatisfied customer or in our case, one that couldn't absorb a large subscription increase. A quick search on the web will show 100s, if not 1000s of complaints like ours.

What problems is HubSpot Marketing Hub solving and how is that benefiting you?

We used Hubspot to help us automate our marketing and retention objectives. Their marketing automation tools worked like a charm. But so do others we've found that are friendlier to our budget and require no contract.

Useful to track email opens, which is the whole reason I got this in the first place.

What do you dislike about HubSpot Marketing Hub?

user experience is horrible. Tough to figure out how to add or remove emails for tracking, confusing overall. Also, quite inaccurate - does not recognize when I am signed in from my phone vs. email and tracks me as the person I sent the email too - this throws off the stats on email opens.

"Clunky and disjointed"
What do you like best about HubSpot Marketing Hub?

I like hub spots email tracking. That was nice. Very helpful!

What do you dislike about HubSpot Marketing Hub?

Hubspot is pretty clunky to use. I found myself getting frustrated often. When you add a deal you have + buttons to add a contact and company.. when you click those, the platform should be intuitive enough to link the deal, contact and company at the same time. Instead of having to manually add the contact and company to the deal after. Also... I went to contacts and the company isn't even automatically added to a contact.. Surely that is a no brainer. If a contact and company is in one deal and you clicked the + buttons FROM the deal page then they would be associated, no? Seems like you have 4 separate platforms that are not connected very well and each one has its own db. Hubspot is great for email tracking etc... but pipedrive is leagues ahead of you with the sales pipeline stuff... This is wasting my time. It's like it was designed in the 90's or something.

What problems is HubSpot Marketing Hub solving and how is that benefiting you?

I was attempting to solve the business problems that Hubspot assumes to fill.

What do you like best about HubSpot Marketing Hub?

I can't say because i never got a chance. They did not even get me live for more then a month

What do you dislike about HubSpot Marketing Hub?

I had signed up with hub spot on march 29th. TILL DATE APRIL 30TH I DONT HAVE A DASHBOARD OR ANYTHING. When i was sold this software i was promised all kinds of stuff. I got a call or email from a Allan on April 6th to set up stuff. after getting postponed from april 3rd to April 4th We talked but he could not get me started, he rescheduled the meeting for a another day in april. Guess what it was rescheduled it for another day, finally i got a connection with ABBY coach or customer success manager. When i finally got to talk to her and discussed my goals she was in more then in a hurry to get me off the line. Only stuff she kept telling me was this is going to cost more and more with no explanation. Finally after 10 minutes she had to jump on another call so she disconnected my call. I must remind fellow readers that 20 days have passed and i dont have a log inn id or anything forget about a dash board and i still dint have more then a month has passed. i have asked for my refund of the intial payment and guess what today hub spot came and took another $200 from my account. I have paid close to a $1000 without any service or ANY PROPER EXPLANATION. I called many a times to Mathew who sold me the software and Abby but never got a reply back and also emailed them. I have in this month and today April 30th 2015 called their customer service but they say THEY CANT DO ANYTHING. What a tragedy a public traded co and this is the level of service and professionalism they show. This is just a outright highway robbery and telling me that there is nothing i can do. Very disgruntled customer. i have all the proof and correspondence on file .

What do you like best about HubSpot Marketing Hub?

I liked that there was php code available through github.

What do you dislike about HubSpot Marketing Hub?

Hubspot had a lot of issues. They tried too hard to be an all in one system. CMS, marketing automation etc. It was difficult to get good support. We would call to have an issue resolved and the support people would refer us to the forum. The forum was fairly quick, however, we paid for phone support so that is what we wanted.

What problems is HubSpot Marketing Hub solving and how is that benefiting you?

We had to move off of Hubspot. We would send an email to all of our contacts and our dashboard would quit responding. Once it came back up, we would find that maybe 800 out of 6000 people were emailed.

"if you are thinking about trying hubspot think twice"
What do you like best about HubSpot Marketing Hub?

the tool is ok but the service of the company could not be worst.

What do you dislike about HubSpot Marketing Hub?

The service is awful. I requested cancellation of the FREE TRIAL and got an email accepting cancellation and now they are charging us for a YEAR of service we never used!

What problems is HubSpot Marketing Hub solving and how is that benefiting you?

We decided to use their trial to see how the tool works and their sales rep Paul Rios even offered a second month FREE to try... Well we used the tool for and since first week we knew it was not working.. it is expensive and had a lot of errors. We said from week 2 we did not want to continue with the tools and by the 5th week of the FREE TRIAL we requested a cancellation. We got an email from hubspot accepting cancellation and now 6 months later we get a call from lawyer asking us to PAY the entire year of something we NEVER USED and we cancelled!!!!! on top of that the r4epresentative Paul Rios sent offensive emails using insulting language. If you were thinking of trying Hubspot think again or you may end up like our company having to pay over $15,000 for something we just tried for 5 weeks.
