Nifty Pros and Cons
- Exceptionally designed interface
- Intuitive and notable for ease of use
- Great suppoprt team
- Starter package is one of the most expensive options today
Compare Nifty with other popular tools in the same category.
The features allow us to use it as we see fit and we are able to integrate contractors into the process for documentation. That aspect was nice since third parties never want to use systems that require a whole lot of legwork this was simple. I am an older engineer, set in my way and a younger engineer brought this onboard. I gave it a shot solely for due diligence, anticipating giving it the once over and passing on it. It ended up that everything i wanted to do had a process.
Tutorials are somewhat lacking in high level detain.
We needed to organize our projects and define staff roles with documentable production targets
I like that Nifty allows you to add custom fields. We do a lot of work with clients who use other project management solutions. We created a custom field to add a link to that specific task in their PM tool. Nice to see all of your projects in one solution when you are an agency. Also, love the ability to switch between kanban boards and lists.
I wish Nifty was easier to use with Zapier.
By tracking all of our client and internal projects, we're able to ensure we meet deadlines and are able to quickly identify when we may need to bring on additional resources to meet client needs.
Nifty is stable, beautiful, and fast. It has transformed the way we manage projects within our company, and given us a new way to be transparent with clients about their projects. - When they release new features, it is done in a way that never comprises stability. - Nifty has tons of options for customization, but not so many that it feels overwhelming. - Our clients love the interface, and prefer using this over email (a HUGE plus). - The interface is powerful for the admins, and easy to understand for clients first logging in.
There is very little I dislike about Nifty. Rather, there are a few features I'd like to see included (that it currently doesn't offer). - I'd love to have proposals/invoicing through Nifty, so I can scrap my other CRM. - I'd love to have onboarding videos (or first time tutorials) to help new clients learn all that the system can do. - I'd love to have a ticketing functionality in time, allowing clients to make support requests that get mapped to the system. All these things though are "nice-to-haves," and their absence doesn't change my interest in the software.
The main difficulty in scaling a creative studio is staying organized, and keeping clients informed. Nifty has helped us with this a lot, and has really, really cut down on the need to check email so often (which can be a huge time drain). The primary benefits we've realized is how encouraging it is to us (the creative studio) and the client to see the percentage bar on the milestones change on a daily basis. The overview tab is a really, really nice touch as well! The main benefit is reduced stress (for all parties), and never needing to guess what you need to work on in a given day.
Being a cloud based project management solution is enabling all our team to have remote access, communicate through direct messaging and attached files to the relevant task areas Having previously use standalone project software, NIfty has helped us take a great leap forward in how we do things Tip - Using dark mode is useful when doing webinar/Zoom type meetings as it is easier to read against a dark background
Mmmm. There isn’t much to dislike. Maybe the inability to zoom in when sharing on a Webinar to enable everyone to read the content easily?
Being able to delegate tasks and sub-tasks, balance the workload from the dashboard and set off a timer for more urgent tasks has enabled us to up our project productivity by some 20%. Nifty is also our ‘one truth’ of what’s going on
Having tried a number of project management solutions in the past, I like that NiftyPM offers a very full mix of the types of features I found useful in others, with an easy to use interface. We manage web design, content marketing, social media and advertising campaigns. Nifty's built in project templates can be used to quickly scaffold a project, and customized as needed to work for your team...no clunky setup required. With task lists, subtasks, Kanban boards and milestone views, you maintain control over how deep you want to go in terms of project management. It also provides task based time tracking, which we use quite a bit. I also like the comment threads in each project that can be used for team communication, note recording, etc. The ability to store docs internally is also helpful. These can be native "Nifty" docs, or Google docs/spreadsheets/presentations. And files of other types can be uploaded as part of the project: PDFs, graphics, documents, etc. I imported projects from Asana, and the result was quick and pain-free. Plus, it offers native integrations with apps like GitHub, Slack, Google Suite and Zoom, and a deep set of Zapier zaps.
As with most tools like this, setting up detailed project timelines with lots of nested tasks gets repetitive when it comes to assigning tasks and due dates individually. This is not specific to Nifty, but it would be great to have some easy defaults that can trickle down automatically and be changed as desired.
Project management is faster and more flexible that under similar systems. And we now have a cloud-based source of truth for developing project knowledge.
I like the organization ability as well as the intuitive nature of the software. Most of all though I love the native integrations such as Google docs. It greatly improves the speed at which my team completes projects. When we limit the amount of time we have to spend outside of our project management app our productivity is great increased.
The chat function has alot to be desired. It unfortunate because we would love to have 1 place for everything but when using the chat function the notifications were unreliable which has forced us to remain with slack for chatting. Additionally the auto upgrade feature doesn't ever seem to work on any of my team's installs so we are forced to manually downgrade and upgrade the app.
We use nifty to manage our Web Development and Graphic design projects. Nifty has allowed us to complete projects faster with a higher degree of accuracy. It has also allowed us to share project updates with our clients in a streamlined fashion.
I love: Having an app, mac version, and web, so there is no excuse to be productive. Chat with clients and team Start a zoom call with one click (right, no need of getting a link and send it by email or WhatsApp) Ability to create documents (Nifty documents or Google ones)
The learning curve, but this is not so much Nifty fault, I need to learn more about project management. I did not like that they did not have a Spanish version but I think it coming soon or it is probably there.
The main issue I am solving is to collaborate with clients, I can assign them tasks and give them deadlines, the ability to upload pictures and files is a time saver for later references.
Nifty is a very intuitive platform for starters. Everything needed to handle multiple projects is there and I like that guests have full functionality so clients and other collaborators can be in the whole workflow of various projects and also a thing that´s not common in othe rplatforms is the chat feature.
Might be good for Nifty to integrate with Zoom so videocalls could be done within the app or platform.
The whole team knows what to do, for when and the ability to have different projects is also used for the casual conversations that are very much needed right now.
Nifty makes it easy to organize my projects and provides integrations so that I can automatically get my tasks to the correct boards through email
I wish Nifty had a better way for those tasks to get created via email. Im currently using Zapier so that any email I get from clients goes into Nifty in the correct board but I wish it had more options to import those without the need to use Zapier. I also with there were an integration with Timeular.
I used to use Trello to manage all my accounts. Nifty does everything that Trello provided and Nifty does even more with more advanced views and client collaboration.
Ease of use and the interface is really clean and well designed
Needs a Complete task list view for all projects, like a overview of everything
Being able to stay organized and on top of all current projects. Using the milestone system really helps get things done in a nice order
Very well thought out organizational structure of sprints. Mac desktop app is perfect
Nothing currently as we have been using it about 6 weeks now.
Managing remote teams
Very intuitive Gantt chart style. Chatting with team members in real time. The Kanban view is very helpful
They keep on adding frequent updates requiring you to be updated with it's use at all times
Tracking of work progress assigned to teams. It acts as a one communication channel for all our teams.
I like that you can move sections around and get the view you want of your projects
Not much really, I don't see anything I disliked from it.
Project management and employee task assignation. It work very well. It also replace Slack, which is one tool less in the stack.
Extremely user friendly, and many tutorials can be found on youtube that cover just about anything you may need.
I have not identified anything which i dislike so far. Comparing it to other programs i have tried, i would say that it is much preferred to anything else i have tried.
Easy to track time spent on each client by my colleagues, and i am at all times on top of & up to date regarding all projects which is important as i tend to talk to almost all clients
I appreciate the intuitive layout of the system. It allows for a high level of customization without becoming overly complicated to learn. While there is a set number of user per plan, guests (ie single project people or clients) are unlimited. Setting access levels is incredibly granular making it easy to determine who can see what.
I wish there were a way to copy an entire milestone layout from one portfolio to another.
Collaborating with colleague on a long term, complex project. This tool allows us to easily share our work, process, status, and ideas without getting bogged down. HUGE time saver and improvement in communication.
It's easy to use and the UI is not messy, which helps me deliver my projects on time as I work on them in the app. I like that I can get feedback from all the team members and missing deadlines isreare while using this software, as it keeps everyone notified on time.
The only thing I dislike is that sometimes I encounter some bugs but thankfully customer support has been responsive and has fixed them.
Some problems we are solving with Nifty are: -We are able to keep us focused and boosting productivity is something that everyone does because of the time tracking tool in the software. -Collaborating and integrating different apps into our work such as Google Sheets/Docs, with the integration features being wonderful and allowing us to do the job. -I can't stress enough how much I love the Zoom integration and how important it is for other softwares to have it, so Nifty allowing us to do calls via Zoom has been so beneficial .
Nifty is an amazing alternative to other project and task management tools you've seen around. Prioritizing insights and customizing the way you view things that happen as you work is a huge advantage of this platform. It gives you everything you need to stay productive and monitor the progress the way you like it.
I've been happy with everything that Nifty showed me - there's nothing to complain about and I could definitel work with it further.
Reporting for projects were the biggest issue. Project Home customization turned out to be a solid solution.
I love how easy it is to stay in communication with my team and have visibility into their workload. I also love how I can chat real-time in specific projects which helps keep conversations and information organized.
I can’t think of anything, it exceeds my expectations.
We can chat, work on milestones, attach files and track the time spent all in one place! It helped consolidate what we were doing with a lot of different applications and now only need one.
1. Chat Feature 2. Time Tracking 3. Excellent Support (Which isn't found in big PM apps) 4. Google Sheets, docs integration. 4. Can view uploaded docs, sheets directly without downloading (Something which I have never seen on any other app) 5. It's a must have tool for remote team. We stopped using any other messaging apps to coordinate quickly. This tool is something which can crush all the competition if it reaches the right audience.
1. Not able to sort Portfolios. 2. Mobile App still needs improvements which I'm confident the Nifty team is working on.
1. Working with remote team. 2. Keep track of time (No need of using another tool) 3. Superb track with notifications which are customizable to next level. 4. Much better project tracking with Milestones, Time tracking, project docs, chat feature & project discussion.
The Modern Interface is intuitive and "nifty" in getting to the granular aspects of your project and task management needs. The fast rollout on updates adds significant value to administration and communications without disrupting the work flows. The software keeps taking strides in improving the simplest to more complex project management needs with it's interoperability with its kanban, communication and reporting interoperability.
Wish I had more graded privileges for admin user profiles along with additional seats (but I think that can/may be resolved with upgrades!) (:D).
- Task Management and Reporting / Communications; - Possible Client side insite to project progress and direct client task assignments; - Overall Project Management & Administrative needs.
Easy to use, affordable and it has a lot of features. The most I love is: gant chart, communication chat, milestones integrated, and it is easy to change the view to kanban and list.
The mobile app is not perfect, and should be improved. Also, it becomes hard to use in some cases, especially when you have a lot of areas and projects, which is my case.
Manage your team hours is so easy with Nifty. Also, you can communicate with then across the app. A lot of views such as gantt, list, kanban. A lot of ready to use templates for sales, marketing, project management.
I love the fact that Nifty is a truly cross-departmental software and enables the operations, legal and hr to all communicate and collaborate efficiently in one software we constantly assign tasks across departments and Nifty is much better for this than Asana and ClickUP. We have been hunting for tools that are super easy to use and cater to legacy employees and I can see that I have finally found it with Nifty!
Nothing worth taking note of any issue I had was addressed and fixed by support in under an hour.
Nifty helped us collaborate more efficiently, manage tasks across the organization and the feature that I love the most is there tagging system that enables one to tag a document and have it reflect and attach to tasks this is super helpful for legal workflows.
My favorite feature on Nifty is the home screen it enables you to have access to all essential features - milestones, tasks, docs and files once I log in similar to my iphone home screen in a workflow tool.
I have not had any issues so far and do not intent to nit pick to try and find problems with something that is working well for my company.
We had a lot of work that was falling in the cracks and not getting tracked properly, tasks let us really document everything we have going on internally along with custom fields to delve deeper and create reports.
- Inviting clients to specific projects (especially useful for web bug and feature tracking) - Workloads area allows you to review overdue tasks (reallocate, schedule and manage as appropriate) - Chat & Doc features allow us to contain relevant client-facing information in one place - Ability to create multiple task lists within projects creates flexibility for different workflows depending on project - Continued product development of Nifty including regular release announcements encourages confidence in the product
- Time tracking is a bit redundant for our use. The ability to manually add tracked time (e.g start, end dates and description) would help this feature. Equally - like that it remains in the background as it's not particularly necessary for us at this stage.
- Track client requests and allocate them to staff - Direct collaboration with clients on website projects (bug and feature requests)
The best thing about Nifty is the active team behind it. You get amazing news almost every week, not just a few bug and performance fixes but real updates that help streamline your workflow. The user interface is extremely easy to use and understand. You can create a new project and get started within seconds resulting in a much more agile workflow where it is possible to work with as many or as few projects as you like. Because of the intuitive templates, you can easily divide huge projects into more focused ones and keep your workspaces clean when still maintaining a great overall overview. Many other tools require a lot of setups resulting in projects that grow and last forever because setting up a new one is just too much hassle. Nifty solves that problem in a fantastic way.
The feature set is still a little bit limited compared to some systems that have been around longer. A few sync features and more fine-tuned settings are yet to come but the team delivers excellent improvements every week. Still, I think Nifty will be the very best, maybe not today but definitely within a few months. Let's put it this way when betting on horses would you rather bet on an exhausted frontrunner or the energic horse slightly behind? Monday and Asana are ahead in some areas, no doubt about that - but Nifty seems to be releasing great new innovations regularly. So nothing bad really, but you have to expect some changes to the workflow in the coming months.
I am getting more productive because we can achieve better communication within our team. Nifty provides a clear separation between projects when also providing stats across them. It is much less overwhelming and so much easier to focus on what truly matters - the task ahead of you.
Aesthetics! Ease of navigation, intuitiveness, continuous product development. I believe Nifty would catch the ClickUp level someday for sure. The constant development of the tool is certainly a big plus. I get an e-mail about some new functionality practically every week. Nifty is a great tool for a freelancer or a small team. Privately, nifty is my basic tool for cooperation with clients and so far it works great.
There are no options typical for CRM - budget management, cost estimation, billing hours, and so on. Surely, a little more integration could be needed as well. It's not bad, but it could be better. Another thing is the application - it is because it is, but somehow it is not useful for anything, or it is simply not very intuitive. Nifty also has some problems with notifications, because they either pop up double in the browser window and on the desktop, or they don't pop up at all (or I set something wrong myself, I don't know).
I took the management with small clients to a new level, and the aesthetics of the tool only helps in this, causing them very good results and impression.
The ease to follow up with the team and tasks is possibly what we love the most. But we also have to highlight that you have multiple choice to view your project: As kanban tiles or list of tasks. Also you can setup milestones that are tied with other milestones and with their respective tasks. Notifications to your email and inside the platform give you full control of everything that is happening inside your company. And if you use google drive (GSuite) for documents, you will love the integration that Nifty has to see and edit the documents inside the platform!
I haven't found anything to dislike, but I'd love to see email marketing in a roadmap so we can track and contact leads and convert them into new running projects for the company. Would that be asking too much?
We had a real problem following up with the tasks that had been done and the tasks that needed to be done. We used a range of apps including excel (man that sucked), Asana, Trello, MeisterTask, Wrike, and a great etc. They just didn't match with the way we worked and the number of users we had (we are a small company with lots of tasks, so the other solutions are too pricey or simply did not solve our problems). We have reduced our delivery times in more than 20% and we are currently delivering every task on time, early or just with a few hours of delay, versus what happened before where we just did not manage to get things done on time.
Good experience, with the software especially if you're the person who set it up in the beginning. If you have others who will be in the program entering data, please find the patience depending on their skill level to answer their questions, adjust any mistakes and if their like me, explain the "what and whys". Like most software of this day and age, it's all cloud driven with nothing at all to install also, to many connections Google drive, zoom, slack
Nothing - it has only made things better. We use multiple things to track so it does making it difficult to fit all on the one screen.
Needed more integration and reporting options,
Project Management Features with its Project Structure capabilities
Not much - it's super useful and is saving us time.
It gives us one place where we can create communication between our three team members. Instead of having to use emails which get lost. We can now track all the tasks we have to do. Nifty is streamlining our work flow and tasks are not getting lost like they used to.
