SEMRush offers one of the most diverse sets of tools of the many SEO tool suites available. It offers quick at a glance SEO KPI reporting and provides a level of granularity that few tools offer.
We really have no complaints with SEMRush, the price point is very reasonable and the tools are perfect for our team.
We use SEMRush to provide reporting for SEO clients as well as strategize monthly seo work.
The reporting feature straight to PDF with branding is a huge time saver.
Not as detailed as aHREFs, but the reporting is worth the switch.
Mostly it's competitive analysis, easily. The ad reporting feature finds what we need to know about active advertisers.
They are always improving, just check out the change log on the blog and you get a feel for the continual improvements the software is going through. Not just that but the underlying databases had a major update a little while back seeing great improvements within areas such as the UK. Whether it is on going clients or prospective clients SEMrush is there. Tracking keywords and competitors is easy and projects allow you to (very) quickly audit a site, I've even been able to do this while on the phone with a prospective client, they were surprised when I mentioned a number of quite serious errors on their website they could easily fix! (and yes they are now a client!). I should also mention SEMrush offline, the company spends a lot of time engaging with the industry, you quickly get a feel that they are always there to help when they can.
I think as previously mentioned some wider integration would be good, although within projects SEMrush is now linking in to Search Console, some wider reporting using Google Analytics would be a great time-saver!
Website Audits Domain reviews Keyword reviews Simple, easy and fast. makes tracking client information much easier
SEMrush has become part of the fabric of our agency. Client love the insights we can provide them about their competitors. Our digital team use the tool for ongoing monitoring of our client websites, search visibility.
Sometimes we have to reconcile differences between data that appears in Google Analytics vs. SEMrush. SEMrush is a competitive research tool. The more we use it the better we understand how SEMrush uses Google data.
This tool is friendly enough to be used by AEs as well as a digital project manager. Our AEs and digital strategists use it for gaining quick insights about a client or prospective client. Insights gained from SEMrush has supported new business wins as well as our ongoing inbound marketing client retainers.
SEMrush is a must have tool for all Marketing Pros, Agencies, Pro Bloggers... It allow you to discover new keywords, follow your progress. It is Simple to use ans cover lots of need for marketers, and it have regulary new features (some not very usefull but they really want to make the product growing).
Pricing ! The free version is very limited (few results). And the version at 70 $ / month is not enough if you have mulilingual or lots of keywords (several business)
SEO for international website
Ever since we purchased this tool we have been able to see information that we were never able to see before. We use it for SEO and SEM. We love that you are able to track your client websites to know where you rank on Google. It also makes it easy to see what competitors are doing as well so you can stay ahead of the curve.
So far there isn't anything that we dislike. Honestly I wish we could have more users for the same price.
We were tracking SEO way differently before. We didn't know about this tool and ever since we have been in awe of the data that we can pull through SEMrush.
Simple one dashboard to see competitor's, keywords, etc. when building a campaign.
Limited when searching a website. For instance, a company can represent several different types of products that the main domain will not cover when looking for competitors and related keywords.
Reaching an unknown audience.
Project Management helps me keep all of my keywords organized by type and site area, and the new SEO optimization tool has worked great for us so far.
Sometimes there is a disparity between search volume for exact match on SEMrush and Google's keyword planner, but it's usually insignificant . The backlink tool could be built out a bit more, but I'm confident that will change with time.
Keyword research for B2B SaaS site. We've significantly increased overall traffic and qualified traffic to our site using SEMrush, and the reporting features have helped us immensely. The Site audit tool is fantastic for quickly segmenting issues on different parts of our site and prioritizing fixes. With a small team, this has been crucial for improving the user experience.
SEMrush is, as his name stands for, a great tool to work with when you’re managing an Adwords account. You can easily get a list of relevant keywords that will help you build a high-performance campaign. With that being said, there is also a new function added to this online software. Even if it’s in beta version, you still can get a good view of what your competitors are doing on their Display campaign: I’m talking about the Display Advertising Function. In conclusion with SEMrush, I have everything to start a successful Google Adwords campaign.
I still can’t think about SEMrush instantly when it comes to SEO. I think it’s something they should try to upgrade in a near future.
Putting ads out there comes with a big pressure because, not knowing the cost of the ppc while doing it is a bit frustrating. If you had to test each keyword just to find the good ones, you would be losing a lot of money. I got my already tested keywords instantly, thanks to SEMrush.
SEMrush is incredibly powerful because it is incredibly comprehensive. There is a TON of useful data. Oddly enough, I don't think it's overwhelming; the learning curve isn't very steep all. I love searching from different 'angles' by keyword, domain or even page. The page-level stats are pretty impressive (e.g. keyword rank for a single blog post).
I'd like to track more competitors. Moz and SEMrush both have notions of "campaigns" which limits the competitive set. I'd like to track and graph at least 10 companies (this can be achieved with Position.ly). I simply do not understand why this seemingly artificial limitation is baked into the product.
Since using SEMrush, I've had more domain insight and page-level insight. It's very easy to scope the competition. One thing I didn't expect from all the research I'm doing (a pleasant surprise) is that I've now generated a massive list of blog post ideas. I've been mostly focussed on MOFU (middle of the funnel, high intent keywords) in the past, just to outrank direct competitors. But SEMrush has given me a ton of great TOFU (top of funnel) keyword ideas.
SEMrush is an SEO product that I use on a daily basis for my clients. It's the only software suite that I know of where you can still get keyword level ranking data. That is a big plus in my eyes. We use SEMrush to see how many keywords our client and their competitors are ranking for over time. The competitive analysis tools that they provide is great and helps keep a pulse on how websites are performing.
Keyword tracking could use a little improvement. I would like to see a one to one comparison between my clients and their competitors.
I currently use SEMrush for some keyword reporting and competitive analysis. SEMrush definitely comes in handy during quarterly and yearly client reviews.
I have find in SemRush the perfect tool for my work. For Audit SEO, Competitor Analysis and for develop new portal SemRush is perfect. The frontend is very user friendly and the API service is amazing!
In SemRush I love all, perhaps the only thing that is can improve is the backlink area.
The Benefits are very strong for my personal portal and for my customer. Improvement long tail, contents and new competitor in the SERP.
SEMrush is by far the best competitive analysis tool out there. As a educating contributor in the search marketing industry, of my conference speaking, industry column writing, etc., I have spoke about SEMrush on several occasions. I work within the tool on a daily basis to monitor client sites as well as competitors. From ranking presence to link-building and from site auditing to keyword research, SEMrush is a world-class solution.
If there is anything more I would like to see it is a side-by-side ranking comparison of a site between two date(month) ranges.
I am understanding what content client competitors are creating and what terms this content ranks for. I am understanding what SEO issues I am facing on-site that I may not be aware of from a cursory glance at the site.
The ability to collect competitor analysis with such ease, as well as the multi-market access.
Site speed is often an issue, however with the sheer volume of data it is to be expected. It would also be great if the backlink analysis section would be in more depth.
international organic search on a large scale
The ability to see keyword ranks & projected organic traffic for any website. This is essential for determining if a competitor presented to us by a client is in fact an "online competitor" or an "emotional competitor." SEMrush's data is key to helping our clients understand the online marketing they're competing in.
I'm not such a huge fan of the current competitive analysis tool. What I want to see is a full list of keywords (populated by what each of the sites is ranking for) across my site and five competitors, and how many of these six sites rank for each of the keywords listed. For example: the six sites in total rank for 300 keywords. 5 rank for "keyword 1", 3 rank for "keyword 3," 6 rank for "keyword 10", (except in a table format for excel of course).
Working and an agency with a multitude of companies can be difficult, especially when you are not intimately knowledgeable of the terms used within each of those industries. Sometimes clients aren't even sure of the keyword themes within their industry (hence heir need for an SEO agency). SEMrush gives us the ability to not only see the relevant search terms within and industry, but also who is ranking for said terms. It provides us with a landscape of different opportunity, and helps us determine the low hanging fruit for our clients.
To be able to see what organic and ppc keywords any site is using, for your own keyword research on a client site or vs a competitors web site.
It could use some more features i'd say but, if you do one thing, do it well, this does that.
keyword research/discovery

You can find top 200 organic Keyword for that domain and backlink report which gives the detail backlink report for any domain along with anchor text
You must be knowing about many keyword research and competitor analysis tool. The thing I liked the most about SEMrush is that it can find keywords of any website that is driving traffic to it. SEM Rush has more than 41,000,000 domains and more than 95,000,000 keywords in their database. You can find statistics and detail of any particular keyword you are looking for.
I'm used SEMrush and Moz. Both companies are very good to work with, but I feel that SEMrush is a more focused product. Moz is professional and they have a better community and provide great advice. If you are a professional marketer you would use both....but I really like using SEMrush.
I don't have anything bad to say. If it was priced as an Enterprise product and cost thousands, I could; but it's ~$60/month.
SEMrush will help you analyze your placement in Google. To put this in perspective, Google Analytics tells you what keywords your users click to get to your site, but SEMRush will help you target the keywords that you're missing. Specifically: a) keywords that are valuable to you b) have a high volume of search and c) keywords you're placing at page 2 of Google b/c you're right at the goal line of getting on page 1.
Excellent keyword research system - can find what any site, not just our own - how and what it ranks for. Updates frequently. New features being added constantly - such as keyword difficulty. This varies drastically to other keyword difficulty software out there - such as MOZ's version...hard to know which is best ( assuming MOZ as its been around longer ) but really great software for anyone that has a website - the new features and design only adding to this.
I think more detail support and advice would be good to get - the newsletters are ok..interesting. The videos - not so. I do think it would be excellent if the team behind the software shared more of their knowledge more often.
Keyword targeting, competition review
It's just so simple to use. I always use SEMrush to find out the amount of traffic a website is getting per month, and it spits out information so quickly.
I've noticed that sometimes when researching a website's traffic it will come back with no data. Sometimes that's hard to believe given that site's following. So, at times, I'm not sure how accurate the information is that I'm getting.
SEMrush helps me decide what websites I should use and what websites I should stay away from while doing content marketing.
