Less flexibility than wordpress, I use both for two different sites.
Easy to update, simple portfolio website for art and graphic design. I prefer having an all in one subscription for this site, since it is only used as a portfolio.
It is easy to use for individuals who need to make regular updates and have no design background. The templates are clean, user-friendly and are designed with the user-end experience in mind.
The downside is there isn't as much flexibility to make edits if you ARE a designer as there would be in Wordpress. The functionality just isn't there for as much customization.

Keep the company organized and make sure everyone is up to date with all of our locations and their different promotions. Squarespace has made it easy for employees to see as well as for the marketing staff to update.

There is some limited functionality with Squarespace, as is expected in a templated site. And you can't upload your companies logo in the mobile view.

I like the template designs and the font availability.
The page layouts have limitations. I wish there was more flexibility in the layouts. Also, there isn't enough ability to work on SEO so getting a higher ranking in Google is harder. It's also hard to duplicate a blog post and edit the content so the formatting remains the same.
The company was already using Squarespace when I took over the marketing and I've maxed out what I can use it for. I have been able to create a lot of webpages. I can quickly create a new webpage and place it where I want easily.
I love how there are multiple free default themes you can choose from. Each set up is beautiful and unique in its own style and taste. I thought I would need to purchase a custom theme, but the default free ones were just as amazing. The functionality and simplicity of "setting up" and "making a website go live" from a person who knows absolutely no code, is fast and easy.
You can not "edit" existing code. Yes- Squarespace has a custom CSS section, but this requires somebody to know code. If Squarespace had existing code, it would be easier for a user to change somethings around without having to code something from scratch. What I am ultimately looking for is something as simple as Squarespace, but as customizable as Wordpress. Squarespace sometimes seems too limited in what you can change in terms of design and user functionality.
The visual aspect of what Squarespace can accomplishing without knowing CSS/HTML5 is amazing. This saves me a lot of time if I want to get something up and running fast.

I did not think the program was very user friendly and adaptable to the user's preferences.

I did not have a website and now I do.
It gives new businesses who have no capitol a way to have a website and be online.
Because it's not open source and all contained, there are many limitations to design. Sure there are lots of themes, but EVERY theme has roadblocks. and given their clientele are people with little to zero web experience, they often wish they could do something that they cant achieve. the biggest problem is MOST of their themes utilize full width images, but none resize appropriately for mobile.

I like how it's really to customize and perfect your layout with minimal HTML knowledge.
I don't like how some of the more advance features are difficult to use - so unless you contact support or look at FAQ, you won't be able to use them.

Really solid features for most simple, brochureware sites.
Some features, like events, are somewhat limited in terms of their scope. For example, it's impossible to have a repeating calendar event.

Squarespace is a well-designed, intuitive, and mostly user-friendly way to build appealing, responsive websites for organizations of any size, from small boutique operations to multinationals.
The 'block' style of building websites can take some getting used to and isn't always the friendliest for editing.
By switching to Squarespace this year, we've been able to create a beautiful looking website with great functionality on both desktop and mobile platforms. Having this helped drive more traffic to our website, which in turn ultimately resulted in more - and higher-value - attendees to our showcase event.

One of the things I like best about Squarespace is the ease of use. It is extremely easy to pick out a template, edit content, and make small formatting changes. Whenever I need help I am able to find answers to my questions through the FAQ section or through a quick google search.
One of the things I dislike about Square space is the variety of templates. While the templates all look very professional they do not span a huge variety of layouts - essentially I feel that they are all very similar. This isn't necessarily a problem, but I do think the software would appeal to more people with a larger variety of templates.
