It's easy to use and understand. And the customer service is great and responds quickly. It makes bookkeeping for my small business easy and simple. Even if you are not a CPA or bookkeeper you can still understand and navigate your way around the Freshbooks site/app in order to create reports that are easy to understand, sign up team members to log and keep track of time, create estimates, create & find invoices, and much more. I would easily recommend this product. I have used Freshbooks for a couple of years now and they are constantly upgrading and improving the product and the things you can do with it. Anytime I have a problem I can always get in touch with their customer service specialists for quick and timely responses.
The app doesn't always sync correctly with a clients account so when I add a payment from the app it doesn't show when I log into the website and therefore I have to re-enter that payment and check the next day to make sure there is not a double entry for that account. I also think it may be a good idea to partner with a CPA firm so that with a little more money small businesses could allow that partner access in order to help with bookkeeping and taxes. This would be very helpful. Most small businesses can't really afford the private CPA fees which can be up to $300 or more an hour.

FreshBooks’ Interface is easy to use and is incredibly powerful as a service tool for any business.
Nothing! If there was something negative to come up with, I’d be happy to share, but the truth is that there is nothing to complain about.
I’ve loved being able to automate invoices and collect payments. It makes it incredibly easy for me, while presenting my business as top tier/professional.
One thing I love about FreshBooks is their continual efforts to refine and create helpful tools. It keeps getting better. And the service is wonderful — whenever I need, I can call and talk to a very helpful, informed person who offers good advice and direction.
Recently, I've found that clients of mine have encountered trouble in completing bank-transfer payments. I feel FreshBooks should do more to communicate to payers instructions for completing bank-transfer payments without obstacles — that is, instruct them about browser issues, etc. — so that I don't have to! I recently moved away from credit-card payments because of how much I was paying in fees, but I don't like having to spend a lot of time in client communication around failed bank-transfer payments.
The reports are wonderful ... though I haven't fully taken advantage of them. I do really appreciate the design of invoices and of e-mails to clients.
It is easy to focus in on the features you want to use. Unlike other tools that try to push you to use the features you don't, Freshbook has a simple user experience that allows you to use as much or as little of what they offer.
As we have started using more features we run into things that have been overlooked in the development such as the ability to have vendor's (the people you pay) contact information in the system.
Easy invoicing and many options to receive payment. I also like that I can see when a client has viewed the invoice so I know the best way to follow up.
Easy and quick to invoice and enter payments, which is all I really need. And I like reports.
Clients. I can only have 5. So I delete every time I get up to 5. But I have repeat clients. So I put them in again. Now I have in some cases 5 or 10 instances (and counting) of the same customers in my deleted clients list, which seems weird. If there were a one-click way to reactivate them, even as I'm typing their name into a new invoice, that would be splendid. (Like "it looks like you're using a deleted client - would you like to reactivate them now?" kind of thing) Or at least it would feel like I'm not doing something wrong which is how I feel now.
Easier and less scary than QB. I wasn't looking for something cloud-based, but I don't hate that it is.
I love that my accountant finds my information easily at tax time, I love the visual graphs and charts that keep me on the pulse of my businesses financial health.
I used to dislike that my imported bank account wasn't pinged often enough - but this was brought up to the Freshbooks team and they quickly fixed it. Now I have all my info on my recent expenses every time I log in.
I am solving the problem of getting a complete financial picture of my business in one place. I have realized a lot of benefits in expense tracking, financial forecasting and tax organization.
One of the great features of FreshBooks is the timer, which allows me to not only bill accurately and easily but also understand how much time I devote to specific projects. It keeps me accountable, which is great for the client and for those of us who tend to over-deliver. I also love the ease of invoicing via email. Having the email come straight from FreshBooks helps me look professional, and it's as simple as clicking a button.
Because I'm not a heavy user, I would love to have a lite version of the software that maybe costs a little less per month. Something that focuses on billing and not accounting would be great, simply because I'm not at a place in my business to worry about expenses. I also don't have a team. So it would be nice for us "side hustlers" to have something tailored to us. But overall, I believe that FreshBooks offers great value for the monthly fee to those who can make the most of it.
FreshBooks has allowed me, an entrepreneur with just a few clients, to put a professional "face" on my invoicing. And being able to see whether my client has viewed my invoice and to send automatic reminders has been great for dealing with clients who are a bit...forgetful. It's also allowed me to see at a glance where I am financially, which is helpful for estimated tax payments.
I love that FreshBooks is online, offers an app, is easy to track time invested on projects easy and can invoice clients from your projects and time tracked. There are so many great features that it is difficult to pick one.
It would be nice if the FreshBooks app allowed me to generate invoices from time tracked for clients like it does on the desktop.
FreshBooks has given me the ability to spend more time on my business doing the stuff that I enjoy and making money rather than spending a lot of time on the accounting side of the business.
Freshbooks makes the not-so-fun "business" part of running a solo business simple and easy. As a one-man company, I can track time, send invoices via email, and keep track of all my expenses. I really like that I can offer my clients multiple ways to pay. I prefer not to have to pay credit card fees if I don't have to, but not all my clients want to write checks either. In that case, I can offer them the option of using ACH to pay, which lowers the fees and enables my client to pay electronically. FreshBooks payments are great, they offer the ability to offer ACH payments and send my money faster than Stripe, usually the next day.
I'm not a big fan of the pay per client pricing model. It would be nice not to have to think about how many clients I have in the app. I can't help but feel like I'm overpaying for the same services if I have to upgrade in order to get one or two more clients on my plan. For example, I'm on the 50 clients plan which works for me now. However, when I started with FreshBooks, years ago, I was allotted, I think, 25 clients. When I got the 26th client, that was cool, but I then had to upgrade to the 50 client plan to send invoices. Sure, for a while I would simply go through and delete old clients and play the numbers game. I didn't like having to do that though. Finally, when the plan I had was phased out like an old iPhone, meaning I wouldn't see upgrades like Accounting access I was pretty much forced to upgrade. So with 26 clients, I had to purchase the 50 client plan, the price is reasonable for all that you get, I'm just not a fan of the pricing model.
With FreshBooks, I solve all the business issues that come along with running my own business. I can track my expenses, do my billing, and take electronic payments. I like that I can even have FreshBooks send reminder emails for overdue invoices which is a nice time saver.
I like the fact that it is not an overly complicated program that has everything I need to run my business in one place. While I do not offer payroll, I have looked into their app integrations and they seem to work very well. I do use it for contractors to submit their hours and collaborate on projects just not payroll.
I don't like the fact that for a flat-rate project, I cannot print out a report for all of the hours used against the project. I realize that it's a flat-rate, but I like to know how long we spent on each project for future reference. I would also like to see a client login area, but I guess they would have to sign up to view. I think in the Freshbooks Classic this was an option, but it's been a while...
Invoicing for hourly projects is a breeze with this program. I also like that people can pay online right then and there when they receive the invoice (although, some like to take their time...). I find the reports very easy and informative when tax season comes around--especially for my CPA!
